It's the Most Cliche Time of the Year!

Twas two weeks before Christmas and all through the world
not a creature was stirring - till hawk wings unfurled.
They spread out their feathers and spread through the air
fearing the Wardens soon would be there.
The natives had long since gone the fuck to sleep,
while into their regions a raider did creep.
But the Wardens watched close and followed him near
and camped out waiting for his friends to appear.
Then in that small region there rose such a clatter
That anyone online would wonder the matter.
DYP with his sheepskin as white as a snowflake
stood shoulder to shoulder with Roavin of Cupcakes.
Swift Warden Drake, and Fauxia and Nakari
(who for her shit internet is incredibly sorry.)
And Tim with a blade fit to slice through the skies,
And Jack with his dead yet farseeing eyes.
And along with them too fought friends, like Escade,
As joyful and sparkly as pink lemonade.
And Katie the Birb, and Red Dusk the dragon
Who at the campfires at night would drink fire in his flagon.
And We the People, who I barely know enough to rhyme about.
Each of them attacked with a slice and a slash
And the region was theirs in a blink and a flash.
The next day would see only footsteps in snow
and a pristine, untagged, native region below.
Through hill and through mountain the Wardens did chase them
Wishing only to hunt down the raiders and face them.
The moonlight was strong in the midst of the night
When the Wardens saw now there were no hawks to fight.
In the distance they saw those that glowed bright like ghosts.
They turned to raise swords and chase the Shining Host.
If a native had rose at the end of the chase
They would open their windows and be quite amazed.
For the Wardens together called out a great cheer
And down from the clouds they summoned reindeer.
They loaded their weapons and shields on the sleigh,
all climbed in, pet the deer, shook the reins, sped away.
These strange Christmas spirits, they had brought no presents -
their benevolence delivered by only their presence.
Now nothing was left but the sound of their whistle
They were gone in the wind like the down of a thistle.
And as morning light streamed inside to her eyes
Nakari blinked, glanced up, and saw the sunrise
And intensely regretted staying up so late to write this fucking report.

Friends, it is with great sadness that we report the cessation of existence of the beating heart of Spear Danes – our longest-lasting delegate, McClel Land.

“The sight of that good ole imperial American flag cheered me up every day. I could always count on McClel to be there with extra leftover people I didn't need to endorse,” said Somyrion, sobbing softly, sighing a solemn and saddening sigh.

Roavin spoke meditatively later on. "There are few positions as important as the permacross officer in the heat of a chasing battle. While we had several such officers before, nobody ever provided the steadiness and resolve that McClel Land did. Truly, a hero worthy of commendation."

Sir Merlin stepped up onto the podium, leaned into the microphone, and stood there for thirty minutes in silence before nodding solemnly and stepping off.

The Philippines was a region once welcoming and warm, only wanting to celebrate Christmas in peace when the enemy force descended on them, toppling their leadership and imposing armed rule over the region. We thought to ourselves: WWMLD? (What would McClel Land do?) If he could have seen the oppression the natives were calling out for help against, we know what he would have done: instantly ordered a liberation. So that is what we did.

In the cold depths of the winter night, our brave warriors gathered, with the fire of victory blazing within each heart. Some were new to battles, though learnt quickly, with others showing the way.

All present in this battle displayed the courage and valor that McClel Land had embodied in his life. We rushed forward towards the enemy, silent and deadly, burning with passion and bravery. Though there were but few of us, it felt as if we were together a body of a thousand minds, with one voice crying fearlessly, one finger clicking fast, one heart beating strong. We thundered down onto the region like a winter storm with icy and unforgiving swords.

For a moment, as the dust cleared from the initial rush, we were not sure if we had overcome the enemy. We held our breaths, as if even that disturbance would shatter the glass of the cold air – then released them as we realised we had won, and the air turned white with the warm relieved breaths. As we went to seek out the rightful leader and inform him of the victory, worried that he would be too injured, or not wake in time. But he found us first, and was fast to secure the Philippines and expel the remnants of the defeated enemy.

We are immensely proud of our victory, and all of those who contributed to it. Their sense of duty, quick movements, care for the native population, and willingness to fight are what truly won the day. Thank you to all who came.

One can only hope that in the future we continue to follow the example of McClel Land.

You've got your lilies of the valley, you've got your tiger lilies, you've got your biscuit lilies, you've got your virus lilies. But you don't want to got them! Might look pretty, but these little things will sprout all over your lawn and vandalise your flowerbeds. Some flowers might look all sinister and black, sure, but they'll just peek a couple petals out of the soil and die after a moment in the sun. These lilies have stamina. Pluck out one, and they'll just keep going, spreading spores all over. You might be thinking: lilies don't have spores. You'd be right with most lilies. These ones are weird. We'll get some botanists on it ASAP. Anyway. You notice lilies on your perfect lawn and you think, oh, damn, I was going to play tennis there tomorrow.

That's when you call in the Grey Wardens.

We'll come to your region, uproot those lilies, and stick them in the patented Kandarin barbecue to neutralise the spores. And if your garden already has some weeds left over, we'll do you the favour of clearing those out too. All for the low, low price of your firstborn child.
