Welcome to the official site of the embassy and foreign relations programme to the People's Union of Letwinist States, we thank you in advance for your interest.
This programme is the newest conception of the People's Commissariat for Foreign Relations and Trade, with the hope to make the Union more accessible to the international community and ensure amicable relations with many of our neighbours and fellow sovereign states. It is in this spirit that we warmly welcome any and all requests to establish diplomatic missions with the Union and hope to be in the position to accept as many as possible.
If you have any questions regarding the Union, its policies or potential difficulties filling out the applications below, we encourage you to send us a telegram and we will be happy to help.
Please note that despite our positive spirit, we reserve the right to deny any embassy request on grounds of oppressive government actions and fascist ideologies. We also reserve the right to deny any requests made without naming specific reasons, though we hope not to utilise such means.
The Union
General
A labelled map of the People's Union of Letwinist States. State capitals are marked in bold, the
all-Union capital underlined.
The Union is a federation of states with letwinist constitutions around the grand Obli Peninsula under the administration of the People's Congress of Letwinist Councils and its subordinate councils. It stands for extensive human rights and equality for all with far-reaching anti-discrimination laws bolstering different ethnicities, genders, sexual preferences, religions. The economy is built around socialist concepts and an implemented planned economy which was reformed in the spirit of allowing smaller and partially private enterprises to exist in certain economic branches, especially concerning the gastronomical branch but also craftsmanship. The economic plans are not, however, conceived on an all-Union level but broken down to take into account the Union’s subsidiary principles.
Standing tall through a time which brought the homogenisation of communities, the multicultural background of the peninsula and affiliate states are what still makes us proud today. One can still observe the historic markings of intermingling peoples all over the states in the form of language, tradition and building.
One will no doubt be awed by our extensive public transportation system which has, against all odds, stood against the furious forces of nature up to the tip of our northernmost state of Jonistavia for many years and never ceases to be updated and the amount of effort we pour into an environmentally friendly industry and infrastructure. We hope to see you observe our way of life up close.
For more information on the Letwinist States, visit this article, which is an overview of our nation.
Trade Agreements
The Union is available for multi- and bi-lateral free trade agreements. This would be most beneficial for nations importing ore, oil and processed metals, steel etc. as the Union has an extensive mining sector and exports coal, iron, copper. Other raw materials are for instance, pine wood and fish found in lakes and the ocean (such as Perch, Pike-Perch, Pike, Trout, Grayling)
In turn, the Union is actively searching for exporters of grain and animal produce.
Treaties
The Union is generally open for treaties of non-aggression. However, strong ideological conditions, such as an immoveable pledge to democracy, a foreign policy of de-escalation and a high level of trust is necessary for treaties of mutual defence, fleet basing rights or the like.
The Diplomatic Mission - Embassies
Location
Embassy grounds are available in the Vesimaa city centre and the diplomatic expansion.
The centre has direct connections to public transportation and are near administrative headquarters such as the Vitomir-Letwin-Hall, where the parliament assembles, as well as many councils and institutes. The diplomatic expansion is separated from the city’s centre by the Liisyänna River and situated around the Verena-Mader-Park. This is where we can safely guarantee the greatest amount of security for your establishment by our own forces and ready offices. The city centre may be very attractive to smaller missions, as it also benefits from being within walking distance to many Cafés, shopping opportunities and restaurants as well as local sights and public squares.
If applying for an embassy in the city centre, please state whether or not you will be moving into a ready building or only renting part of an office block, depending on your preferences and budget.
If applying for an embassy in the diplomatic expansion, please state whether you wish to move into a ready-built complex or will be renting a plot of land to build your own, depending on your preferences and budget.
Personnel and Vehicles
Embassies in the diplomatic quarter and are generally closed compounds and may host up to 130 people, of which no more than 40 may be security staff. There will also be space to accommodate an average of 15 cars.
Embassies renting their own building in the city centre are generally smaller and may accommodate up to 50 people, of which no more than 20 may be security staff. Garages can hold up to 10 cars.
Embassies renting an office in the city centre are very small in comparison and may accommodate up to 20 people, of which no more than 9 may be security staff. Garages can hold up to 7 cars.
Vehicles may not have overly tinted windows or armouring which inhibits the driver’s view of anything in front of them. Further, they may also not be armed. This includes, for instance, tanks or mobile artillery.
Embassies may arm their security staff with batons, pistols, sub-machine guns and personal defence weaponry with the appropriate and rubber ammunition. Any other firearms or fixed turrets on the compound or vehicles are not permitted under any circumstances. Furthermore, blades over the length of six inches or sharpened on both sides must be declared in the application form.
Please note that, for everyone’s convenience and safety, the city is a no-fly zone and helicopters may be stored at the nearby airport.
Special Treatment
Should you wish to apply for special treatment on grounds of long-term or exceedingly good relations with the Union, or due to existing pacts and alliances, please add this information to your embassy-application and fill out the special treatment form below. Special guests will receive larger embassy compounds to house up to 200 embassy staff, situated at Hennaalinga Street, overlooking the red square and Verena-Mader-Park, being within walking distance of most People’s Commissariats. These compounds may also hold up to 30 vehicles.
Diplomatic and Consular Immunity
Foreign ambassadors or equivalent and members of the embassy administrative or technical staff may not be arrested or detained, be subpoenaed as a witness, have their residence entered as per security protocol or prosecuted for any crime unless with the permission of the native nation.
Career consular officers may only be arrested and held in custody if a warrant exists in reference to a crime committed and may not be subpoenaed to testify on official acts.
Honorary consular officers and consular employees may not be subpoenaed to testify on official acts.
The fact that individuals cannot be prosecuted does not exempt them from being ticketed and fined for misconduct. This includes speeding, littering, smoking in a residential building under the authority of the Union.
Please be aware that while we waive our territorial sovereignty over foreign chanceries, we ask you to abide to all national laws while within the Union. We strongly encourage the cooperation with national security forces, as we would not molest you and yours if there was no definitive cause. Please note also that embassy and consular staff will not be prosecuted for official acts. However, if an official act has the potential to be prosecuted, this may result in drastically deteriorating foreign relations. As consequence to acts of extreme anti-union sentiment or moving directly against our foreign agenda, we may be forced to ask certain members of your staff to leave the Union or restrict your deployed amount of men and women. However, we do not hope for such unwanted action and you will be notified within great advance should we feel such an act to be applicable in the near future. In such a case, we will strive for a joint solution as being preferable to any sanctions stated above.
