What is the best movie ever?

Postby LimpBizkit » Fri Dec 08, 2017 9:07 pm

Discussion on what the best movie ever is. This is so, so very subjective. I like big bloody action films, and the below nation might like artsy fartsy romance films. What do you think?
The Creeping Barrage is the name given to a method of firing artillery. At the beginning of Trench Warfare the basic tactic was to fire lots of artillery at enemy trenches for a sustained period of time and to stop firing just before the infantry attacked. However this method wasn’t very successful as the German had built strong bunkers and were able to man the defences in the time between the bombardment ending and the infantry getting to the trenches. A solution to the problem of the time lag between the bombardment and the arrival of the infantry was to change the way that the artillery was fired. Instead of just aiming at the same target the creeping barrage moved forward at a prearranged pace.

Debatable. Forrest Gump to me was all story, and I can't get into a film like that. Armageddon is my pick. A movie that combines a lot of cool action and explosions with a bit of story/sci-fi content.

I'll never know what is considered the best movie, so I'll go with my favorite:

Terminator 2 - Judgment Day.

One of the few movies in which the sequel is actually better than the original (though the first one was also good). It had one of the most creative villains of its time, and it even made you feel sympathy for the supporting terminator (Arnold's role here) who ended up sacrificing himself (or itself, since it's a machine) at the very end in order for Cyberdyne Systems to have the inability to use his CPU for future experimentation.

It should have ended at that movie, and not just because its subsequent movies were [Insert long rant about me wanting to destroy every single copy of those films and describing how horrible they are to the original 2 movies].

I don't have a "best movie ever", but The Godfather is a classic piece of cinema.

I also love First Blood, the first Rambo movie, for being a thrilling action movie with a low body count.

I also adore The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

I enjoyed Arrival. The whole atmosphere of the movie and the way it is set up was interesting and fun to watch.

The Arrival? That was a great movie. I love the original Transformers movie from 1986. It's so much better than Bayformers.

I think it's just Arrival, with no "the".

Yeah, I watched that Transformers movie a few years ago. It was fun to watch and had an interesting story behind it.

Really? I thought it was The Arrival. The original,1986 Transformers movie is actually good. Bayformers is ok, but not really good, compared to the original movie, which was animated, by the way.

Well if you count the original trilogy as one movie. But since George Lucas wasn't sure if he would be able to make more Star Wars movies, A New Hope is structured in a way that also makes it a good standalone movie.

For me it depends on what the list is ranking: the best or my favorites. For example, Schindler's List would do better on the former, while The Karate Kid would do better on the latter.
