The Football Association of Vilita is based at the Tivali-Ring Stadium (87,000 Seating Capacity) in the capital city of Alikki-Corra, Vilita and many National Team training sessions take place on the grounds of the Tivali-Ring. The Tivali-Ring complex was constructed as part of the Vilitan bid to host the World Cup 14 Cup of Harmony as a replacement to the former National Stadium in Lopinka that was destroyed during a regional conflict. 'The Ring' has since hosted countless international matches including high profile matches such as the World Cup 31 Final and the 40th Series 'B' Champions Cup Final.

Despite being based at the Ring, The Football Association of Vilita regularly schedule matches at arenas throughout Vilita, especially bigger matches as many of the stadiums that host Stellar Division and UICA competition matches have expanded far beyond the 87,000 capacity of the National Stadium at Tivali-Ring, which is used only for the National Team, and, domestically for the Vilitan Cup Final and Tropical Trophy matchups. The Football Association typically releases a stadium schedule when applicable.

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team.

VIlita will often play in a traditionally Vilitan 3-1-4-2 formation with a style modifier of +3.14

GOALKEEPERS:
Image
Mako Canopii [ - Yeaddin Owls AFC - ]
GK ( AGE: 22 CAPS: 9 :: GOALS:0 )
TROPHIES :: [ : World Cup 77 : ]
A member of the Canopii family of Vilitan Goalkeepers, Canopii broke through during World Cup 77 and quickly became known as the 'Shutout King' helping lift the Jungle Cats to the World Cup 77 title. Like his namesake Jungrii Canopii who spent many seasons at Eastal Lunar before finishing out their career with the Yeaddin Owls; Mako Canopii also helped guide the Yeaddin Owls back into relevance in the Vilitan League backstopping the team to a 4th place finish in Season 52 as well as Semi-Final appearances in the Vilitan Cup.

Image
Zelkki Milake [ - Eastal Lunar - ]
GK ( AGE: 33 CAPS: 36 :: GOALS:0 )
TROPHIES :: [ : World Cup 68 : World Cup 77 : ]
An aspiring Astronaut, Zelkki Milake's sporting career took added importance when he signed for Eastal Lunar FC at the age of 16 and immediately became the clubs starting goalkeeper for the Season 41 Declasse Division campaign. Milake kept a series of clean sheets that kept Eastal Lunar in the top half of the table for the majority of the season and still mathematically in the hunt for promotion entering the final matchday. The 1-0 victory over Akisa Surta combined with a Turoki Isle draw propelled Eastal Lunar into the top two and ensured that the young Milake would be thrust into action against some of the top players in the world as a Stellar Division goalkeeper for V-League Season 42. It wasn't at Eastal Lunar that Milake would make a name for himself, however. The young Vilitan goalkeeper opened his International Career with four-consecutive clean sheet performances and earned a place as a reserve player on the World Cup 67 World XI team. The performances for the National Team would earn Milake a transfer to Lonngeylin Coast after Eastal Lunar's Season 42 relegation. World Cup 68 Would be a coming out part for Milake who was in goal for the Jungle Cats as they lifted the World Cup Trophy for the first time in 48 editions with a 4-2 win over the Free Republics, making Milake one of the youngest starting netminders to win the World Cup. Milake's domestic career wouldn't go as smoothly, however, and after spending 2 seasons in the Declasse after Lonngeylin Coast's relegation, the World Cup winner returned to his roots, re-signing for high-flying Eastal Lunar in Season 46.

Image
Nikki Tzimas [ - Tivali City - ]
GK ( AGE: 27 CAPS: 3 :: GOALS:0 )
TROPHIES :: [ : World Cup 77 : ] : Stellar Division : Vilitan Cup : Tropical Trophy :
Half-Audioslavian by blood, Nikki Tzimas came through the Venom Youth Academy an signed a professional contract with Jungle Strike FC at the age of 15. Tzimas spent V-League season 46 on loan to Kiiara-Torra. Tzimas served as Jungle Strike's go-to rotation netminder for multiple seasons in a net-sharing routine with Farfadiliary teammate Lafayette Tifoxe. As the two players entered the prime of their careers, however, there wasn't room for both in the Starting 11 and Tzimas made the decision to move to Declasse side Tivali City for the undisputed #1 job there.

Januaa began his career at Kiiarana City but after City failed to secure promotion back to the Stellar Division during Season 41, Januaa was recruited by Nycflala Kater to make the switch across town to play for Kiiara-Torra starting in season 42 before spending 3 seasons at Mliona-Lpaka. During Season 46, Januaa transferred to Jlinal-Cove FC but the move was short lived as Januaa returned to Mliona-Lpaka and helped to guide the team to the 68th UICA Champions Cup title.

A product of the Turoki Isle academy system, Cjinder was snapped up by Turorian giants Mliona-Lpaka for a professional contract and made his debut during V-League Season 48. Cjinder established himself both in the Vilitan National Team and the Mliona-Lpaka first team, becoming a critical cog in the team that would lift the UICA Champions Cup 68 title. Cjinder has shown the ability to play both a central defender and as a wing back, preferably on the right hand side where the Turoki-born player frequently gets involved in the attack – notably recorded 8 goals and 10 assists from open play during the previous four seasons with Mliona-Lpaka

With Inland Peaks unable to establish themselves in the Stellar Division and the twilight of the career on the horizon, Tadalek moved to Jungle Strike FC during Season 53, promptly earning their first Vilitan Stellar Division championship and Vilitan Cup title.

The Freisan Farf Freitball Francitian hereby presents the Farf roster for the 79th Edition of the World Cup
Nation Name: The Oulandish Lands of Farfadillis
Demonym: Farf (plural Farves)
Team Nickname: la Vherderoja
Honours: AOCAF Cup 43 and 48 Winners

Kits

ImageImage

Manager
Name: Tíbürçìó Çötàvíê
Age: 55
First Cycle: 75
Record: The FFFF found working it out to be too much of a hassle
Win Percentage: See above
Description: The mastermind behind Mâ Âlâmëómë's overlordship of the Farf league. Tíbürçìó's an eccentric man, even by Farf standards. He may seem like a bit of a tool sometimes, but some others he looks like the sharpest one in the shed. During his time at the Greens, he did away with defense altogether at times, Solomon Etezadi bailing him out on more than one occasion. He has no Etezadis now, though. What he does have, however, is many players that he has already managed, as the Greens' youth academy is the best in the nation. He's also much more in touch with the players than Pekarik ever was, as he's culturally much more aligned with them, and tactically too. Current internal conflicts may make this last sentence less truthful than in past competitions. Althought he is not aware of it, he is developing dementia. The only person in the squad who knew was Ichi Tuzzio, though, and he's gone now.

Assistant Manager
Name: Rodrigo Morales
Age: 27
First Cycle: 79
Description: After Ichi Tuzzio left the assistant manager spot vacant to start his own managerial career, Tíbürçìó literally put the job up for sale. Rodrigo's parents were the highest bidders. Little else is known about Rodrigo.

Starters
#1 - GK
Name: Calogero André Metz Lille
Age: 34
Positions: GK
Team: Image Cassandra City Image
Description: Metz becoming the starting goalkeeper for the national team surprised nobody when it happened. He always had the talent. However, very few would’ve ever predicted he’d reach the heights he's reached at Cassandra City. How many goalkeepers can say they’ve been named best player in their leagues? He was vital for Cassandra City’s successful title run. His great reflexes and timing for getting out of his line stand out.

#4 - LB
Name: Mârtín Básá Dü Fîlgärá
Age: 26
Positions: LB
Team: Image Tanrısal Image
Description: Básá was never a stand-out player, in all honesty. As a teenager, he was shipped off to Semarland, and then he left for Pasarga on a free transfer. There, he flourished into quite a good player, starting for Tanrısal from the get-go. Now clearly in-form, after having been named in the SuperLiga team of the year and reaching the Champions' Cup semifinals, Mârtín has earned himself a spot in the starting eleven, though that's in part because there's a stinging lack of players in his position. Básá's very good at bombing forward, but is conservative in his playstyle by Farf standards.

#2 - CB
Name: Süns Söh Sârâsâ
Age: 27
Positions: CB
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: Süns is a surprisingly small (for a centreback) yet very fast player with fairly decent skills on the ball and impressive tactical awareness. Few players can read the game like him. Also, few players have as much top flight experience as him at his age. Despite his height, he's shown he can actually be a menace in the air anyway. He can really jump.

#6 - RB
Name: Trejo Maes Carreño
Age: 31
Positions: LB/RB
Team: Image Avenida Leal Image
Description: Trejo was part of a couple of DBC squads, but he never really impressed. Some seasons later, he burst into the scene with Avenida Leal, becoming a dominant presence on the left flank, match after match. He's fast, he's versatile (so much so that he's usually played as a left-back despite being right-footed), he can bomb forward and he can kind of defend. His continuous improvement has made many people question how he could fly under the radar for so long. Nowadays at his peak, he may not be as flashy as some of the other players, but he's consistently very good.

#5 - CM [C]
Name: Ruy Alexander Monrazón Dianaslocas
Age: 32
Positions: DM/CM
Team: Image Avenida Leal Image
Description: A tough tackler with a warrior's spirit and a great understanding of the game. He's pretty good with the ball, even if it's not his defining quality. Add to that his tremendous endurance and you’ve got yourself one fine slightly-defensive midfielder. Despite his relative lack of muscle mass and definite lack of height, he’s got an imposing presence on the pitch by virtue of attitude alone. This has made him the natural choice for the captain’s armband. This is probably his last cycle as a starter, though, as he won't be able to keep up the physical aspect of his game much longer.

#3 - LM
Name: Scheherazade Camila Meier Butragueño
Age: 31
Positions: LM/LW/RM/RW
Team: Image Sabrefell Moths Image
Description: The first Farf woman to get to the national team. The country still needs to fully adapt to that. Born in Puerto Farolero to a Nepharim father and a Farf mother, Scheherazade has proved she's Farf by being crazy enough to decline a call-up to the then-World Champions to play for Farfadillis. Two-footed, versatile, with a lot of pace and great crossing ability, it's not hard to see why Tíbürçìó thought she was worth breaking tradition. Just like Monrazón, she's unlikely to hang onto the starting spot for much longer, but nowadays she's still the natural choice when fit.

#11 - RM
Name: Lázár Kovács Eleonóra Fulop
Age: 26
Positions: RM/RW
Team: Image Holdenberg Image
Description: Lázár Eleonóra’s eerily similar to Mâás Fôx. Plays on the right wing, transferred to a Euran club at a very young age, lots of potential. The reasons for the comparison are obvious. However, their playing styles differ. Lázár’s relies a lot more on his pace and his endurance, constantly running up and down the pitch. He’s not as good as Mâás with the ball, but considerably better at everything physical. He's had one hell of a breakthrough at club level recently, and it is hoped he can follow that up this cycle by making himself a key player for the national team.

#8 - OM
Name: Ror Jevdjevic-Hadsic Obad
Age: 31
Positions: OM
Team: Image Crisisbless Image
Description: Back when both were in the DBC squads, Fôrté was the rising star, while Ror was lucky to get any minutes. Just a couple of years and a move to the Nepharim league later, Jevdjevic-Hadsic's was starting for the actual national team (Fôrté has remained considerably better, though). He's an overall very complete offensive midfielder. He likes to drop deeper and help link up better, so he's not quite as deadly up front as his partner, but he's better at reading the game and dictating the tempo. With age catching up to him, he'll be feeling hard-pressed to put in very good performances to keep Groaré Sasca from snatching the starting spot from him.

#10 - OM
Name: Fôrté Mâás Wínrôuge Çíânflöné
Age: 31
Positions: OM
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: The best Farf to have played the game. Some years ago, most people would've said that of Dandalleion or Kâí, with Fôrté getting a few mentions. Now, most would agree with the statement. Vicious and knotty dribbling, defense-splitting passes, a striker's sense of smell and, most importantly, ambidexterity have made him far too much for defenders in the FFL and the international stage to handle. He has been by far and away the best player in the squad for a few years now, and it's no coincidence that the team has been doing better than ever during this time. He's in the form of his life, despite being over thirty now. He's expected to decline, but is showing no signs of that.

#7 - ST
Name: Täjó Ôýâtúfâ Çíânflöné Rütü
Age: 30
Positions: TQ/ST
Team: Image Raynor City United Image
Description: Football sometimes runs in the family. That is the case of the Çíânflöné family. Just like his cousin Fôrté, Täjó is immensely talented at kicking balls. He's got acute tactical awareness and a consequent knack for exploiting defensive gaps with his speed, coupled with some sharp finishing skills. He’s one of the few Farf players that have won the Champions’ Cup. Named best player in the multiverse by some Bonesfolk not long ago, and though the accolade certainly overstates his talent a bit, there's no doubt he's second only to his cousin in this squad.

#9 - ST
Name: Xíxì Êns Drâás
Age: 20
Positions: OM/ST
Team: Image Dí Maozöxê Image
Description: Last World Cup, Tíbürçìó surprised everyone by including Xíxì among other similarly-aged players. Aged just eighteen, he took the starting spot from his club teammate Dü Síbírí. Playing for Dí Maozöxê, he's already their best player by some distance. He's more of a creator than an out-and-out striker. You'll see him assisting Çíânflöné about as often as you'll see him scoring. He may be twenty, but he plays like he's twenty-nine.

Substitutes

#12
Name: Lafayette Tifoxé Loiseau-Cousteau
Age: 29
Positions: GK
Team: Image Jungle Strike Image
Description: Originally touted as the new Erfaon Lisdiren, Lafayette might not actually ever achieve expectations, but he's still a very good goalkeeper nonetheless. He's not old yet for a goalkeeper, so he's still got time to displace Calogero. Lafayette is currently a starter for Vilitan big club Jungle Strike, well-known to all Farves, so he's definitely no slouch.

#23
Name: Íüé Tgô Sôsdêrê
Age: 23
Positions: GK
Team: Image Dí Maozöxê Image
Description: Íüé’s future is very bright. Aged just nineteen, he had already started a full season for Dí Maozöxê, a big Farf club. He’s very temperamental, but otherwise solid in everything for someone his age. If no wunderkid goalkeeper pops up in the next few years, you can rest assured Tgô will be defending the Farf goal someday.

#16
Name: Drê Tâás Röènôùjýâ Ìrrýbâuzârâ
Age: 35
Positions: LB/LM/RB
Team: Image Brinemouth Image
Description: Drê is one of the best defenders in this country's history. In terms of offensive skillset, he could've very easily played as a winger and had similar success. However, at thirty-five, it's time for him to sit in the bench. His legs are not what they used to be. Nonetheless, do expect Drê to come in often, as the problem's certainly not his skill.

#15
Name: Îstr Ábádôns Gìárdìnâ Vövédé
Age: 26
Positions: CB
Team: Image Stein-los Turkish Image
Description: Îstr's story is very much the same as Mârtín's, only he's a slight downgrade. Instead of playing for Tanrısal, he plays for Stein-los Turkish, and instead of making it into the starting eleven due to a lack of players, he's made it into the bench. Still a very solid choice at the back, though Süns has the starting spot absolutely nailed.

#14
Name: Jülí Mâsârí t’Ôrté
Age: 30
Positions: LB/RB
Team: Image Avenida Victoria Image
Description: Farfadillis is currently suffering a terrible shortage of quality left-backs,as previously stated. This has led to Jülí’s call-up despite him being displaced by a foreign non-international player at his boyhood club Dí Maozöxê. This prompted him to sign for Avenida Victoria, where he’s quietly been decent enough for a desperate call-up from Tíbürçìó. Don’t expect him to set the world alight.

#19
Name: Joan Nonhagatte Röéréé
Age: 25
Positions: CM
Team: Image Dí Maozöxê Image
Description: Joan's father, Joan Fer Nonhagatte, is considered a legend by Dí Maozöxê fans. He was never good enough to make it to the national team, mainly because of having too much competition, but his son looks like he'll succeed where he failed. Joan is everything his father was but better. He's got his acute passing, only more acute, his elegant dribbling, only better, his tactical awareness, but more of it and he’s faster to boot. If Ruy Monrazón wasn’t one of the best players in the team, Joan would be starting. In fact, the only reason Ruy's starting spot is in danger is Joan is really that good.

#20
Name: Lüí Wçêíl Wsíè
Age: 21
Positions: LM/LW/RM/RW
Team: Image Âlâmëómë Image
Description: How Minduruguatzel missed Wçêíl when making the DBC squad is a mystery, but the kid's been setting the youth league on fire for four years now. He broke into Mâ Âlâmëómë's first team aged seventeen. The last player to do that was Fôrté Wínrôuge. Before him, only Kris Campbell and Risko Kâí had done it. Extremely pacey and with a lot of flair, Wçêíl will get very far, that much is certain. To think that aged twenty-one he's already making Meier fight hard to keep her spot!

#13
Name: Somuele der Pros Sasé
Age: 27
Positions: CM/OM
Team: Image New Belfast Warriors Image
Description: Somuele left Farfadillis for a Semar club when he was young, much like Básá and Gìárdìnâ. There, he played well, but not spectacularly. After that, he left for Schottia, signing for Lammerton City, a team from the second tier. He performed so well there, he pretty much single-handedly promoted them to the first tier, or so Tíbürçìó heard. This earned him a move to New Belfast Warriors, where he's performed well enough to get a call-up. He's talented in every aspect a midfielder needs, but he's noticeably better offensively.

#18
Name: Groaré Sasca Ladargaelle
Age: 25
Positions: OM
Team: Image FC Soessch Image
Description: Playing for Gorfalle Town, a club that lacks the talent clubs like Mâ Âlâmëómë and La Nueva Avenida sport in the same league, Groaré managed to impress pretty much everyone with his technique. He’s small and slow, but he’s reminiscent of Alex Terán. He sees passes others can’t see, and dribbles at moments others wouldn’t. He’s got more flair than anyone else in the country, and he’s young. That means that, in Tíbürçìó’s mind, the call-up’s obvious. He's only gotten better these last two years. Jevdjevic-Hadsic will have to look out for his place in the starting eleven.

#17
Name: Monuele Ribaurésilion Seiborousé
Age: 31
Positions: LM/RM
Team: Image Avenida Leal Image
Description: Monuele was once in the same DBC squads as Wínrôuge, Çíânflöné, Jevdjevic-Hadsic, Monrazón and Maes. He didn't get to the same heights as any of those players, but he quietly made himself a place in Avenida Leal's line-up and began getting better and better. At thirty-one, he's actually at the peak of his game, and has been impressive enough at club level to earn himself his first call-up at a very old age. He's behind Wçêíl in the pecking order, but he can still make a lot of damage when used as an impact sub.

#21
Name: Tjêtê Vüs Dü Síbírí Ráäx
Age: 25
Positions: OM/ST
Team: Image Dí Maozöxê Image
Description: Short and very skillful, as well as very fast, Tjêtê fits the mold of the typical Farf attacker. He’s very versatile, too. He can play as both an offensive midfielder and a striker. Even as a winger if the situation calls for it - he’s got the appropriate skillset, after all. Xíxì may have taken the starting spot from him, but Tjêtê is still a very solid option. Expect him to start whenever one of the two starting strikers are injured.

#22
Name: Stiin Siorrha'Asione Rousiné-Le-Mans
Age: 26
Positions: ST
Team: Image Mallox Image
Description: Stiin was supposed to be the new Friekder Dandalleion. Astonishing pace and extremely clinical finishing are his two biggest assets, but he’s very good at pretty much everything. The one thing in which he differs immensely from Friekder Dandalleion is his discipline. He is so lacking in it, it is probably the only reason we don't speak of him in the same breath as the greats. He's had a bit of a career revival playing for Cosumarite club Mallox. The flamingoes are still around, though, so don't expect him to turn things around. For now, he's just a good option for when pace is needed.

Home Stadium:Cilimintaro-Killerich Memorial GroundImage
At 78,3090 capacity, Cilimintaro-Killerich Memorial Ground, formerly known as Anthian Bridge is the second largest stadium behind King's Cross at 82,300.They are based in the city of New Philli on the island of Anthian.Anthian Islanders are the tenants of the ground and play there every week in the South Toronton League 2.The stadium name change was voted for many fans as it's in memory of players Antonio Cilimintaro and Anders KIllerich who were shot fatally returning home from their 2-0 loss to Abahnfleft in the World Cup 79 Qualifiers.

Style Modifier:+2.5

Manager: Axel Salzer Lenzi-A phenomenal footballer during his playing days, Axel was a Swiss striker who played for FC Basel, Newcastle United and Manchester United, scoring 478 goals in his career and scoring 430 of those goals at Manchester United. He was offered a job at then recently promoted side Aredia City, and that resulted in 4 Premierships and 2 Copa de Azules spanning a 6-year career with Aredia City. He was then offered a job as the national team manager, leading debutant side South Toronto to a second place finish in the Baptism of Fire, where he was offered a 4-year contract for his work.

Formation:4-3-3 Attack

Starting 11:

GK Asmeh Asamoah Ondoa(Age16) A exciting prospect, he broke into the first team when Antonio Cilimintaro was sadly killed. He is very intelligent in goalkeeping, often running up to and attacker in 1-on-1 situations to put pressure on the opponent to miss their shots.Ondoa is not the best at goal kicks, though he has so many years ahead him.

RB Prince Abou Diaby(Age 22)Played CB at the BoF but was converted to RB as his pace and technical ability would've gone to waste at CB.Very pacey and can chase the fastest players down the wings, however, he lacks height being only 5'8" and therefore isn't the best when it comes to ariel battles.

CB Taha El-Hindi(Age 19)Played at BoF.He came into the first team when Anders Killerich unfortunately died.He is suprisingly versatile, being able to play all positions in defence and even CDM, but needs work on his timing and interceptions.

CB John Bakayoko(Age 19)Also played in the Baptism of Fire tournament as a CDM but was also converted to a CB by Axel. His aggression and determination puts off attackers, and his thundering long shots are troublesome for the best keepers. However, his aggression is a strength and a weakness, as he is often booked for his tackles and other challenges.

LB Paul Makanjoko(Age 17) An exciting prospect, Paul Makanjoko has started to break into the Frostveil City first team and has played at CAM numerous times for them.A short stature, blistering pace, and brilliant dribbling makes this youngster very difficult to defend against.Known for his attacking capabilities, he is a magician on the pitch, being joint highest assist leader with midfielder
Michal Bergman.A weakness he has is his decision making, which has cost the defence a goal numerous times, but he has a long playing career ahead of him to fix his weaknesses.

RCM Nin-Ling Son(Age 20) A defensive midfielder that is extremely versatile, being able to play ST, CAM, RM, and RB, CB, CDM and RW.Overall, Nin-Ling Son is arguably the most important person on the team, as he has to differ between defence and attack. Nin-Ling is renowned for his poor first touch, making it hard for him to retain possession.

LCM-Owen Wright(Age 22) The complete opposite of Nin-Ling Son. He is an exceptional dribbler able to slide past defences with ease and surprisingly can play ST and CF as his finishing capabilities are very underrated. However, he lacks adequate defensive skills, which is why Nin-Ling Son has to work so hard defensively.

CAM (Captain)Michal Bergman(Age 20) Phenomenal player for his age, is a brilliant playmaker and is a solid finisher, particularly in dead ball situations. Not the fastest or the strongest player on the pitch, Michal makes up for it with mind-boggling vision for teammates. However, he has very mediocre stamina and is not very physically strong, though has a lot of time to improve.

RW DeAndre Kiese Thelin(Age 18) Another player who has converted to another position, Kiese Thelin was changed from LB to RW as he was not keeping up with his defensive duties but was a perfect candidate for an RW position.Scored a few goals in the BoF due to his pace and hard work, though is very weak and often booked for diving. But this is also a blessing, as he has won numerous penalties for his team and fools officials into giving bookings to the opposing team.

ST (Vice-Captain)Jozy Dembele(Age 18) A young player who stepped in for striker Jonathan Jahn in the BoF and provided good performances for South Toronto. An influential player, Jozy is vice-captain for South Toronto as he possesses leadership skills that even those who have played for 10+ years do not have, therefore making him a composed player. He is often described as 'slow' by critics of him as he has been outpaced by defenders who are considered to be slow but is the ultimate striker in terms of finishing and playmaking.

LW Pechre Mackay (Age 25)Yet another position change, Pechre is a known pacey player that was too inconsistent with finishing and was moved to LW.The oldest player of the squad, he shows experience when he does his mesmerising skills and pings it to players in the box, although many claim he's a pace merchant, but is still relatively young and can improve on his game.

2nd place finish in BoF 66. There's more to come! Hopefully..
Your young don from Southwest London and I bang out 410, AM Skengdo, 1011 and a host of UK drill artists. You probably thought I was Canadian 'cause of my nation's name and flag, but I am actually Ugandan and I live in London.
Hosted the inaugural STIC, and a domestic newswire up and running. They will be a few more soon...
And remember guys, Toronton is Singular, South Toronton is an Adjective, and Torontons is Plural! Also, the USST is an abbreviation of Unified Socialist States of South Toronto, and apart from marijuana and abortion being legal, and our environmental policies, in no way does this nation reflect my RL views.

This small island nation will host World Cup Qualification matches yet again in hope to try and make it to their first ever post-qualification tournament in either the World Cup or the Cup of Harmony. Their home matches for World Cup 78 Qualification campaign will be hosted in the Krychek Stadium in the centre of the nation's capital, Dynum City. The nation is an extremely small island nation and holds about 400,000 people, resulting in the stadium being small and easy to access from the nation's international airport. Despite being small, the nation is rather specialised in banking and financial services which means Dynum City has plenty of skyscrapers littered across the skyline. Along with large business engaging with the nation, Cosneolta has received plenty of support from Mercedini which means plenty of players and citizens have moved from one nation to another, this is especially evident when it comes to the national team roster, with many players opting to play in the richer and more developed nation of Mercedini. You will find that Cosneoltans are always welcoming of visitors and will allow them the time and space to soak up the Cosneoltan culture in their own time during their visit to the nation. Cosneoltan citizens may not have the numbers to choose from when selecting a national team for any sport or competition, but they are immensely proud of their representitives, so expect plenty of flags being waved and anticipation when your match against Cosneolta comes around.

Aggrey-Fynn Land's National Anthem- "Glory to the New Wave"

BACKGROUND

The 65th Baptism of Fire was Aggrey-Fynn Land's first jaunt on the international stage. The team got off to a rocky start in the group stage, where a 5-2 win against Miloscia was needed on the final day in order to advance. Aggrey-Fynn Land did very well at the tournament overall, going all the way to the finals. They finished second, losing a extremely close final in Drawkaland Drawkland to Solsteed Soltsteed, 3-2, with Emma Gryndhout scoring the winning penalty for the Stallions.

Aggrey-Fynn Land managed to punch above their weight in the World Cup 78 qualifiers. They beat The Isles of Avon (who were ranked about twice as high as them at the time) twice, and they thrashed Sarrbia (ranked 110th at the time) 4-0, which was Aggrey-Fynn Land's largest margin of victory at the time. With the help of unlikely victories against teams Aggrey-Fynn Land was expected to lose to, they managed to pose a threat to the other teams in Group 7 and have a shot at qualifying. However, Aggrey-Fynn Land's hopes of qualifying for the 78th World Cup were dashed after the 16th matchday, with a 1-3 defeat to Semarland.

Aggrey-Fynn Land had a good showing at the 70th Cup of Harmony. They got past the group stage on goal difference, with one win, draw, and loss apiece. In the Round of 16, Aggrey-Fynn Land got what would probably be one of their most memorable victories. They beat then-ranked #16 Ceni in a goalfest, 5-3. They then bowed out to the eventual champions Qasden 2-1, with Owais Lumière getting the go-ahead goal for the Blue-Reds.

Aggrey-Fynn Land ended their first cycle of international football by making a deep run in the Independents' Cup; there were many memorable games, such as their clash with Tinhampton, in which the Wavy Ones prevailed in penalties. However, their title run was brought to an abrupt halt when they faced the multiverse's #1 team Schottia, and were thrashed. After such a promising run, they had to settle for third place in the tournament.

The hiatus of the Lander soccer system made it more difficult to make selections for the national team for World Cup 79. Though there were definitely other standouts in the league's first year of play, Jerry Simmons decided to take the same team through qualifying, citing the "chemistry" that had developed as a result of many games playing together. This was in contrast to Donny Tremors' view that new players should be picked to bolster the skill level of a team which collectively is still quite inexperienced at the multiversal level. Whether Simmons' strategy of sticking to his guns will pay dividends is still yet to be determined.

THE TEAM

All players and staff are Lander unless otherwise specified; All clubs are Lander unless otherwise specified.

Manager- Jerry Simmons- 66 years old
Lovingly nicknamed "The Grey Fox" by his players, Jerry has been a part of the game since he was a boy. Due to his age, he has seen a lot of football, and his experience with the game shows through his tactical knowledge. His weakness appears to be his resistance to change; he has relied on the same crop of players for years, and has not changed his tactics much from when he first took the job. He has created a culture where the team punches above its' weight at multiversal tournaments, which won him the support of the LSA and the admiration of the fans, so at this point it really appears to be his job to lose; only an abnormally bad string of results would prompt the LSA to sack him, so he'll probably keep the job until he decides to hang his hat up.

Jerry Simmons plays in a defensively minded 4-4-1-1 formation with a style modifier of -2. His aim is to play a slightly conservative game. The plan is not to preemptively attack, but to hold possession and build from the back. The team holds back until they can find a hole in the opponent's defense, and then ruthlessly exploit it.

This is the typical starting lineup, barring injuries or suspensions.

Assistant Manager- Donny Tremors- 33 years old
Donny is relatively young for a coach; some even still mistake him for a player! Don't let this fool you though, he has been Jerry's understudy for 8 years and has gained considerable knowledge about the game. When Jerry decides to retire, he has been tipped by some pundits to be his successor. He has a bit of a temper, and is known to go off on his players or the officials at any moment.

Right Back- Quintavius Tracy #14 - 26 years old - Sauce Gods
Started playing soccer at the age of 16 and fell in love with the game. Like Tanner Grammy, he has an array of skill moves that he does not hesitate to use on his opponents. As a result of his skill, he plays with a bit of flair; it is not uncommon to see cheeky flicks and headers from him.

Center Back- Renato Milan #23 - 25 years old - Trill Boys
He got his start in soccer by designing his local club's kit as a boy. Eventually, he joined the team, learning quickly and becoming one of the best center backs in the country. He loves the limelight, and he escapades off the field often distract from his achievements on it. When he is focused on the game, his reckless personality turns into a collected one, and he can easily win a tackle for his team if needed.

Center Back- Justin Green #2- 30 years old - Clout Boys
He is small for a center back, and this made many people write him off early in his career. This just made the natural chip on his shoulder even bigger, which helped in his rise to the top. Notable for his pinpoint passes and energetic personality. Another asset is his stamina; he never seems to falter during games, even in difficult conditions.

Left Back- Gee Francisco #46- 35 years old - FC Bassalona
He was inspired by his dad to start playing. Coincidentally enough, he became a left back just like his dad. He uses his pace to run up and down the left side of the field and help out his teammates. Despite his age,
he does not appear to be slowing down; he has said that he hopes to still be able to play at this level for years to come.

Right Mid- Ronald Johnson #22- 26 years old - FC Samueltown
Known for his excellent through balls and easy-going nature, Ronald has been playing since his school days. A key component during forward plays, he slings the ball to the attackers and creates chances. He is a compassionate person, and regularly volunteers for charities in his spare time.

Center Mid- Jones Strong #4- 27 years old - Wavy Boys
Just like his name suggests, he is very strong. His physicality is a huge asset to the team, but he does tend to get more yellow and red cards because of it. He takes part in body building competitions in his spare time.

Center Mid- Roman Kendrick #38 (Captain)- 35 years old - FC Bassalona
Although he is one of the older people on the team, he is one of the most influential. A born leader, he planned to go into politics at first, until he realized that he could control people all the same on the pitch. A real creative outlet; not only can he connect with other players to make big things happen, he can also take the ball himself to create a chance.

Left Mid- R.J. Duval #16 - 30 years old - Climbers
R.J. likes to joke around off the pitch, but on it he is no joke. His deadly shot and pace makes him the X-Factor on the team. He was key to Climbers promotion campaign this year. In his spare time, he does stand up comedy.

Attacking Mid: Tanner Grammy #7- 24 years old - Club Euphoric
His play is very flashy. Since he has played almost all his life, he has mastered many ball tricks, making him even more difficult to account for. He is a singer-songwriter in his free time, and occasionally his songs are played on the radio.

Attacker: Gordon Whitlick #10- 22 years old - Golden Boys
He grew up very poor. This gave him a work ethic unmatched and led to him having lots of success in the game even at a young age. Despite his high skill right now, he still has lots of potential, and is tipped to move to a bigger club outside Aggrey-Fynn Land to continue developing.

Goalie: Jahseh Twins #1- 32 years old - FC Samueltown
He was a soccer star when he was young, but then he ended up working for an insurance firm. Two years ago, he got back into the game, and took his spot back as the country's premier keeper.
His ball skills leave something to be desired, but he makes up for it with his sure hands.

KITS

The new idea behind the kits is simplicity and aesthetic. The LSA wanted the kits to look as clean as possible, and they tried to accomplish this with small changes to the previous home kit. The away kit has been scrapped completely for a new one with a white base and a single red horizontal line. The alternate has a red base, and was appropriately dubbed the "Red Wave" kit. The goalkeeper kit has undergone a big change, with the garish designs on the arms scrapped for solid light blue.

In short, I'm cool with almost everything as long as it doesn't entail a) rendering my players or staff unable to perform their duties for a extended period of time or b) a mass booking of my players/staff. I will reciprocate your actions. When in doubt, TG me first.

KEL ASSUK BOARD OF SPORT
National Team Selection for the 3rd Independents Cup

The Amalen, the proud people inhabiting Kel Assuk, have a long history of competition through sport, including several native forms of wrestling, camel racing, and spear-throwing. But the Amalen have only been introduced to football fairly recently, with the 1970s and a wave of internationalization spreading through the land, and the sport has not been popular in the nation, due to the nomadic nature of the Amalen's traditional lifestyle being unable to sustain much participation in the sport, but in 2008, a fledgling league began to take off, with 6 sides from the nation's three cities, and the sport began to grow in popularity.

MANAGERIAL STAFF

MANAGER: Image Eric Desmond Desmond is a bit of a wild card manager. Young (for a manager) and ambitious, he stuck with Kings Park of Schottia for several seasons and did well with them, but a poor start last year sealed his fate and he was let go by the club. Although his lack of experience compared to other managers may be his downfall, he is flexible and adaptable; the KABS considered him the perfect candidate to manage their fledgling, underdog side.

ASSISTANT MANAGER: Image Amezwar Sellami, 38 Sellami is raw and inexperienced but energetic and eager. Currently a manager with the nation's best side, Axxuten Adel Bagrou, the KABS has appointed Sellami as an understudy and assistant manager to provide the young manager with an opportunity to study from a more experienced hand as well as an ability to give manager Desmond a perspective on the strengths and weaknesses of his players.

-----
FULL INTERNATIONAL SQUAD

Starting XI
1. GK Aksil Saidi-Sief, 22
A close second to Karim Khattabi, Saidi-Sief has strong reflexes and a good court coverage; only problem, he's not Khattabi, and as such, was relegated to second-string goalkeeper for Kel Assuk's first two international tournaments. With Khattabi's poorer performance in Spaam, and his improvement with Northampton, as well as that team's good performance in the Terranean League, have convinced Eric Desmond to promote Saidi-Sief to first string goalkeeper ahead of Khattabi.

2. RB Usem Ouyahia, 29
One of the more experienced backs in Kel Assuk, Ouyahia, left-footed, is the clear choice for right back, having been playing in the league on an amateur basis since it was founded 11 years ago. He enjoys the game, and he's motivated to work hard, too.

3. CB Ziri Neqrouz, 24
Neqrouz complements his partner Othmani in a couple of ways; he's left footed while Othmani is right footed and a more defensive focus as opposed to a more offensive focus; Neqrouz is quite speedy as well. This means that the centre-back pairing of the two is quite effective, as it allows the team to be more flexible when defending to achieve their aims better.

4. CB Amanar Othmani, 23
Othmani, while complementing his partner Neqrouz, also maintains excellent passing accuracy and a good rapport with the midfield, so he can move the ball up the field if it's necessary, and he's very good at keeping an eye on the field and figuring out what's going on so he can position himself in the best place. Most importantly, he has a strong relationship with his partner Neqrouz, and they help complement each other's strengths and weaknesses.

5. LB Massin Azergui, 24
Azergui, as a left back, has the tendency to move up to support the midfield, particularly Ait Ahmed, who plays right footed on the left like himself; nevertheless, he has proven himself to be pretty adept at the man-to-man defense proposed by manager Desmond, and his stamina allows him to make both offensive and defensive moves, giving him a modicum of versatility.

6. DM Anaruz M'Hidi, 30
M'Hidi, a former Army colonel, has the attitude, and presence, of an army veteran; of the national team, he has the highest stamina and physical fitness. That's why he's a good fit for the defensive midfield position, which requires him to move quite a bit around the pitch, holding up the midfield from any stray attacking runs.

7. CM Mohammed Hasnaoui, 27
Hasnaoui is a credible backup to Ait Ahmed, but his partnership with M'Hidi at Armed Forces has really blossomed; when he's not heading into the attack as a semi-playmaker, most often acting to get the ball to Ait Ahmed or Khalej, he's working to patrol the defense with M'Hidi, giving the defensive lineup a bit more bulk.

8. CM Seyni Ait Ahmed (C), 28
Ait Ahmed is the key to the entire strategy of the national team; he is the center distributor and playmaker of the team, and he holds the team together in the midfield. He has a natural talent; on the mental side, some steely composure and a good wit, as well as a good story or two for when the team is traveling or in downtime.

9. AM Saden Khalej, 20
Khalej is a hot prospect, recognized by all who know him as a potential superstar. The only problem is, Kel Assuk is probably not the best place for him to develop as a player. He has typical characteristics of a star attacking midfielder: good passing, dribbling, and shooting all around, except that he needs a lot of development. To that end, he moved to the Cenian side Longtails, which he could hope to facilitate some improvement.

10. RW Ashur Ben Hassi, 21
Ashur Ben Hassi recently moved to 1860 Azoth, and that club has really sharpened his attacking skills; those skills showed during the 3rd-place campaign in the recent Baptism of Fire, as manager Desmond has increasingly relied on Ben Hassi to finish off balls. He really does have the skills to finish off balls, especially on set pieces such as corner kicks and off passes into the penalty area. With these improved skills, Desmond has promoted Ben Hassi to starter in order to help the team's attacking potential.

11. LW Isula Azellay, 20
Azellay's move to Northampton has helped to improve his attacking skills, and especially his drive up the wings to get balls to his strike partner Ben Hassi. This partnership has been extremely effective in the Baptism of Fire, as Azellay has been able to hit over 90% of his passes to Ben Hassi from a good position on the wings, creating opportunities to allow Ben Hassi to finish off things. He's also worked well with Saden Khalej, and this young attacking trio has proven very capable of getting balls into the goal.

Substitutes & Reserves
12. GK Karim Khattabi, 32
Khattabi is solid, if not spectacular, as a goalkeeper, reliable and consistent. However, his reflexes aren't what they used to be, and they were never like those of August Ozuna or Eliot Horn to begin with.
13. RB Anir Selmi, 26
14. CB Talharqa Zbiri, 30
15. CB Igider Bahari, 32
16. RB Marin Adhoui, 31
17. DM Anaruz Taher, 27
18. CM Mahmoud Salek, 25
19. CM Badis Al-Ouaer, 23
20. AM Ali Bakoura, 24
21. ST Tariq Arazi, 23
Arazi's best aspects are his longer-distance shots and his passing; that makes him the better of Kel Assuk's two strikers, and often the initiator of 1-2 moves with his strike partner Feraoun. His stamina is also pretty good, which allows him to go through defenses and create openings for Feraoun and Khalej to get in and score.
22. ST Omar Feraoun, 24
Feraoun has a play-finishing instinct, an ability to be in the right place at the right time to just get the ball in the goal. He's an effective punch in the 1-2 play or the 3-man play, with Arazi, Khalej, or Ait Ahmed as the play starters; however, his passing and dribbling could be improved for a more effective striker.
23. GK Menna Trabelsi, 29

-----
FORMATION AND TACTICS

Style: +2.5
Formation: 4-3-1-2

Image

Generally, Kel Assuk plays with a slightly attacking formation, with Ait Ahmed and Khalej being the main conduits and attackers for the attacking drives, while Ben Hassi and Azellay often help to finish off the ball into the net with their one-two strike partnership, often from the wings. Defensively, the team tends to play man-to-man defense to help lock down on defensive errors.

Postby Thibaea » Sun Nov 26, 2017 7:25 pm

The Autorité nationale des sports of the Republic of Thibea
For the first time, the Thibaean government has consented to allowing the ANS to recruit, train and send a national association football team to compete for a qualifying spot within the multiverse's famed World Cup. Keeping in line with Ligue rules, the team will have no restrictions based around gender and will be able to pull from any players that currently are within the Ligue and it's junior subleagues, and are above the age of 18.

The ANS have offered a two year contract to Maurice Bonhomme, a former manager that achieved widespread recognition for his ability to develop talent within Thibaean football over the last decade and a half, and was also the former manager of Mons Altiers FC for five years where he achieved moderate success. Expectations for the initial campaign were clear that they weren't high, as Thibaea was pulled into a group that has many international powerhouses, including but not limited to Nephara, and as such the hopes are just to remain competitive as possible and begin to build up experience playing on the international stage to prepare for success in future years.

Management for the Thibaean 'Warlocks' National Team
Manager: Maurice Bonhomme
Assistant Manager: Noël Jaubert
Mr. Jaubert is the current manager for the Persan FC, a club that as remained a title competitor for the last five seasons, mostly due to Jaubert's tenacity with acquiring fresh talent and constructing robust clubs that have good depth to endure through any injuries; he previously worked under Bonhomme nine years ago when Bonhomme was the manager of Mons Altiers FC and the two have a extremely close friendship, with rumors reporting that was the main reason that he got the job as ANS wanted to ensure a good management team that worked well together.

Player-Coach: Cyril Dujardin
Cyril Dujardin managed to collect nearly 300 caps across his fourteen years of professional football within the Ligue, playing for more then four clubs though his longest stint was with Orrouy with whom he collected nearly 111 of his total first team caps and scored approximately 40 goals over his six years there. He was known for years for being one of the leading defensively minded midfielders within the Ligue and his understanding of the pitch, game and ability to be a leader both within and without the clubhouse were unparalleled. He retired just two years ago and as spent some time managing in junior leagues and was selected due to his expertise with the Thibaean football scene.

Chief Physio: Roseline Cortot

Kits for the Warlocks
Image Image

Kits were designed by Ninette Sylvain of Cher Graphics Solutions, who have previously designed dozens of kits for the Ligue and other football associations and clubs within the Republic; the burgundy and blue of the primary is to represent the former colors of the old nobility while the alternate kit was selected as the royal blue is a widely popular color within the Republic while as green to represent the lush, wide green ranges and plains of the southern portions of the nation.

Mriin National Team
Image

For competition in the 79th World Cup
Right: An artist's rendition of Solara Vol, star Mriinian striker (in her Sabrefell Moths duds).
Style: 4-3-3, +2.5
Home Grounds: Haven, Maal - cap. 65,000. Located in the scenic downtown of Mriin's capital, at the heart of an enormous seafront bazaar.

Note that most players (and the majority of Mriinians) are satyrs, as pictured, though with a variety of skins tones--mostly in various shades of blue, purple, and red. They're on average very tall, along the lines of human professional basketball players, and specialize in aerial play thanks to the elevated header control courtesy of their horns. Their stature also lends itself to a fast and aggressive attacking game, leveraging long strides, high stamina, and imposing presence to pressure and wear down the opposition. While there are certain Mriinians who show a phenomenal amount of dexterity on the ball, they're generally strikers--small, quick humans that can "get under" the backs have been a problem spot for the team, as well as a generally weaker grasp of the defensive game.

The main structure of the team will be maintained from the team's previously outstandingly successful sophomore World Cup campaign, in which they won their qualifying group over defacto #1 in the world Farfadillis and lead the entire qualifying stage in goals scored. They even just barely lost out on advancing through their finals group on tiebreakers, to eventual champions Electrum! That said, Don Mizzet has greatly expanded the bench to include a great number of quality players unveiled by the Mriin National League finally getting its shit together and running a proper competition. Games against lesser-ranked nations with feature heavily "rotated" sides that should still be teeming with talent, but less team cohesion new players warm up to each other.

National Information

Name: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom divided into 21 historical 'Fiefs' (jurisdictions of power in ancient feudal Cosumar) that essentially now function as provinces. Cosumar's government is an executive constitutional monarchy, which means that the crown does wield significant governing power but is limited therein by a constitution and Royal Congress. Cosumarite society is dedicated to complete freedoms and respect for all sentient beings, as well as advancement of science, conservation of nature and space exploration. Cosumar has the highest Human Development Index in Atlantian Oceania according to WA Census, and is in the Top 1% of the world's Most Developed, Cultured and Intelligent nations. King James II has continued Cosumar's tradition of encouraging technological progress and immigration while simultaneously maintaining our diverse natural features and unique culture.

Region: Atlantian Oceania (far Northeast | COCANEFA)

Nicknames: Primarily Vanquishers (since WC 72) or, traditionally, Azure Dragons

Colors: Navy, Royal Blue, Silver, White

Stadium: Farris Crowley Memorial World Cup Stadium at The Royal Palace (capacity 105,000)
Image
This shiny new behemoth was built specifically to host the World Cup 78 Final (...and become the first stadium in Cosumar to hold 100,000). Mouthful of a name aside (it's already becoming known simply as "Crowley Memorial"), the stadium is a beacon of Cosumarite efficiency. Sleek, simple and elegant in design, bathed in gold to match the King's own decadent residential palace just a block away. The regular tenants are the club King James owns: four-time HL champions OAS Royal FC. It is named after Farris Crowley, who served as the manager of the national team for nearly 40 years and took Cosumar to its first seven World Cups and died shortly before its completion.

Ramusok itself? It's the capital city. Home of the royal family, King's Congress and 14 million others. Epicenter of historic dynasties. Bastion of knowledge and creativity. Young and eccentric, yet clean and elegant. Ramusok is the crown jewel of Cosumar, the pinnacle of a thousand years of Cosumarite civilization. There are centuries-old libraries and museums everywhere. Yet Ramusok also boasts some of the most stunning abstract modern architecture in the world, coexisting with the ancient in harmonic balance. Just see the all-glass resorts and offices overlooking the water on Azure Lane. The nightlife is extravagant thanks to the young and "hip" population (Ramusok Capital University definitely contributes). Make sure to catch some of the live music at night - there are venues specifically dedicated to genres ranging from black metal to indie pop to avant-garde jazz. As a multiversal city, people and species of all kinds congregate here, though the city does still retain a strong Swedish component leftover from the old Albertsson dynasty - evident in many of the place names. Pleasantly moderate for much of the year, though there are four definite seasons.

FA: Fiefdom Soccer Federation (FSF), headqurtered in Kaldukosic, Cosumar. President Tomas Navarro.

Team History

Snapshot: Cosumar made its international debut in World Cup 51 and Finals debut in World Cup 54. In World Cup 73, new manager Gethin Ramsey built on the momentum from winning the preceding Cup of Harmony to qualify Cosumar for the first time since World Cup 62, ending a miserable 20-year drought. Since, the Vanquishers have advanced to six consecutive World Cup knockout rounds and four Quarterfinals. With the program now reestablished as a contender and the additional status of being the reigning AOCAF and Eagle's Cup champions, expectations are higher than ever. A first ever trip to the semifinals is the goal.

Expanded History: Cosumar qualified for six consecutive World Cups (54-59) in its original "golden age" of soccer, going out twice in the group stage and then four times in the Round of 16. After World Cup 59, Cosumar reached its peak ranking of #7 in the world. The National Team began a gradual decline in World Cups 60 & 61, in which they were eliminated in the Qualification Playoffs despite strong campaigns. They would qualify once again for World Cup 62 in Astograth, but the downward trajectory had already set in. World Cups 64-66 were particularly bleak and saw our once-elite ranking dip as low as the 80s. Many demanded the sacking of Farris Crowley, manager since WC54, the glory days of his tenure a distant memory. But the FSF stuck with him, and Cosumar began re-emerging as a force to be reckoned with around World Cup 68. A marvelous crop of young talent (Francois Renault, Alexander Pearce, etc.) now lovingly referred to as the "Renaissance Generation" started to restore the former honor to the Dragonshirt. They led several increasingly competitive Qualifying and Cup of Harmony campaigns...though they never did manage to return to the biggest stage. They came so close time and time again, but Margaret was never on their side. Their generation's swansong ended up being 3rd place at Cup of Harmony 62. But then the next cycle, World Cup 72, was a rough transition and threatened to erase all the momentum. It was a colossal disaster. The worst campaign since Cosumar's WC51 debut. Eight draws against lower-ranked sides. Farris Crowley was finally sacked after 40 years. Nephara legend Gethin Ramsey arrived and salvaged Cosumar's ranking by winning the subsequent Cup of Harmony. Ramsey continued to work wonders afterwards, leading his "Vanquishers" to five consecutive World Cup Finals (73-77), including our best-ever finish (Quarterfinals) three times. The Cosumarite game continued to grow in Ramsey's wake. For the first time, Cosumar won the right to host the World Cup for the 78th edition and new manager Alexander Pearce led the team on a run, once again, to the Quarterfinals. With a talent pool deeper than any time in our history, he was then subsequently able to break Cosumar's long-standing curse in regional competition, winning AOCAF LIV. Later that year, a near-identical squad under Pearce also won the Eagle's Cup. On a double trophy high, the group now looks toward the first full Qualifying cycle under Pearce with extreme optimism.

Cosumar 4-0 Haginonia - World Cup 54 Interzonal Stage - Showdown on the final day of Qualifying with both sides' first World Cup berth at stake: we rolled.

Cosumar 7-3 Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 60 Qualification Playoff - Brutal revenge against K&P for ousting us on penalties in the previous World Cup's Round of 16.
Cosumar 5-1 The Sarian - Cup of Harmony 64 Finals - Ramsey and the newly-christened "Vanquishers" propel Cosumar to lift a first WCC trophy.
Valanora 2–2 Cosumar (3–3 AET) (7–8 pen.) - World Cup 73 Round of 16 - After splitting the series in group play, we triumphed over the Elves to claim our first ever Quarterfinals.
Cosumar 2-2 Eshan (2-2 AET) (6-5 pen.) - AOCAF LIV Final - After three consecutive extra time wins to get to our first AOCAF Semifinals and Final, we took home the elusive regional trophy with yet another helping of late drama.

Most heartbreaking moments:
Cosumar 1-1 (1-1 AET, 3-4 PKs) Churchma - Cup of Harmony 45 Semifinals - Losing on penalties always hurts, especially when it's to your oldest rival so deep in a tourney.
Cosumar 0-3 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 55 MD3 - It came down to this match for a spot in the Ro16, and we got our asses kicked.
Cosumar 2-4 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 56 Round of 16 - We finally made it to the knockout rounds for the first time, just to be humbled by these guys again.
Cosumar 1-4 Jeru FC - World Cup 57 Round of 16 - Another drubbing in the Ro16.
Cosumar 0-4 The Babbage Islands - World Cup 58 Round of 16 - New Cup, same story. Dragons fall apart in the knockouts.
Cosumar 3-3 (3-3 AET, 2-4 PKs) Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 59 Round of 16 - This is THE match that haunts the dreams of every Cosumarite to this day. We had rolled through our Qualification and World Cup groups in dominant fashion - completely undefeated. It was the greatest Cosumarite team ever assembled, seeming destined for new heights. In the Ro16, the Dragons led the Urchins 3-0 late and celebrations had already begun. But Chalia Sajid scored a flurry of goals for an unlikely hat trick in final 15 minutes to force extra time. In the eventual shootout, we would completely choke, badly missing the target twice. Complete and utter shock. Many wandered if Cosumar would EVER be able to advance to the quarterfinals and exorcise these demons. It took nearly 30 years.
Cosumar 0-0 (0-2 AET) Unified Sunrise Islands - World Cup 75 Quarterfinals - On the brink of our first ever semifinals appearance, we are sunk by a Kevin Stabb brace in extra time to lose our chance to play for a WC medal. This "cinematic" USI team, which came out of nowhere, would go on to win the whole thing, leaving Cosumarites wondering what could've been.
Cosumar 2-2 (2-3 AET) Chromatika - World Cup 76 Quarterfinals - Cosumarites come agonizingly close to tasting the semifinals once again. The Vanquishers twice give up their lead and fall in extra time despite Chromatika going down to ten men and infamously moving one of their star attackers to goalkeeper in desperation. Pure torture. The match that made Chromatika our greatest modern rivals.

Most Goals: 104 - Sur Arora (WC 63-72)
Most Assists: 77 - Irvinn Rincon (WC 51-56)
Most Caps: 210 - Anders Engström (WC 67-77)

Team Information

Style Modifier: +2.3

Post-WC78 Ranking: #15 (KPB 33.11)

Formation: 4-3-1-2
Alexander Pearce is entering his first full normal cycle in charge, and will continue the more attacking approach he initiated in the AOCAF with a 4-3-1-2 that essentially functions like a 4-3-3 but with one of the strikers dropping back to play in the hole as a true #10 behind the other two. It will be a competition to fill that crucial role between established Rozelle playmaker Alora Heher, rising Cornellians wunderkind Isla Sibučić and in-form Pelethas-born favorite Rowan Varghese. Pearce essentially crafted this formation around these three prized assets, hoping to maximize their talents.

Tactical Breakdown: The play tends to flow somewhat narrow through this formation, with most chances being worked through the center rather than channeling it wide and just pumping in crosses like we did so often under Ramsey. This is ideal because of Heher and Sibučić's instincts pulling strings in the middle, and because top striker Valgard is a much better finisher with his feet than his head, although Zeale-Riddick and Ruhl are good in the air. When the ball is won in the defensive half, the immediate outlet is then usually Stig Söderquist in the middle instead of always finding the wingers like we traditionally did. LM Bellerophon Serafino covers crazy ground and can also materialize in the middle to receive an outlet before quickly drifting back out to the left. The three-person midfield line can then choose to combine laterally with each other or find one of the three attacking players ahead of them. When they play directly to a striker up top, that sets up the magic situation: the striker can play to the feet of Heher/Sibučić 20 meters from goal, then make a cutting run to receive the ball back in on goal or create space for the other striker. Pearce has been working his young attacking corps relentlessly on these combinations this week. If defenses crowd and overcommit to the CAM in response, that's when the Vanquishers can bring the LM/RM/LB/RB forward and flex some width. This formation does, however, place a lot of strain on the LCM and RCM. They need to provide width in the final third, but then get back and squeeze narrower as the first line of pressure in the case of an opposition counter. Fortunately, work rate is a particular strength of Serafino and Bryger Tidesson. In essence, the "up the spine" play style actually funnels the opposing team into the center of park and makes the wide players all the more dangerous when the play does calls for them. A by-product of the “funneling” idea is that it forces the opponents to play narrow as well and therefore makes it easier to defend against them if that is not their usual style.

Note on Vloo: This Qualifying Pool consists of 40 players, 38 of whom are standard humans. The other two (defender Bacary Na'Kale and goalkeeper Shjegrzh Na’Kefir) is of the Vloo people (species homo cosumarensis), a humanoid race native to Cosumar. Vloo are, on average, two inches taller than humans (which admittedly can come in handy on set pieces), and they must use different footwear due to their foot structure. Vloo have blue-tinted skin, two small black horns protruding from their foreheads, and spiky spines that be visibly seen from the back of their head/neck for some. And tails. They are distinguished by their surnames, which typically begin with clan prefixes Na', Va' or Vu'. Since World Cup 51, there has always been at least one Vloo player in the squad, but never more than four.

Cosumar's current kits were prepared for the team by Meski Soccer & Sports Store of Red Blackiland before the World Cup 75 cycle, our 50th anniversary in international competition. The design has been applauded by for improving upon the already-brilliant kits that served us from WC 71-74, while still staying true to the spirit of the beloved WC 54-69 classic kits. The home and away kits make heavy use of the national colours (blue, white, silver) and the majestic Cosumarite Azure Dragon that these lands are famous for. The goalkeeper kit features hints of the royal family's colors: Green and Gold.

40-Man Qualifying Pool

Alexander Pearce has named a pool of 40 players from which he will draw throughout Qualifying (23 on each matchday squad).
For the World Cup Finals in Ceni/Drawkland, the pool will again be narrowed for a final delegation of 23 that goes to the tournament. That's the selection all 40 of these players want to be in, and the Qualifying process will be a chance for many of them to earn a spot. That said, there is still a first-choice Best XI (in blue below) that represents the most likely group to play in the "big matches" of Qualifying. You'll see a bit more rotation against lower-ranked opponents.

First-Choice Starting XI

Goalkeeper - Jakk Winterfyll - 36 - Image Kingsgrove Image
Winterfyll is the most decorated keeper in Cosumarite history. He already has eight World Cups under his belt and has started every WCC match for Cosumar since World Cup 71. His sabbatical saw him miss the Eagle's Cup title, so he's eager to put in a strong shift in his return and finally reach the World Cup semifinals in what might be his last chance. Winterfyll dominated domestically with Crawford City FC early in his career, setting a record for clean sheets in a season. He then became a mainstay in Apox with Exton FC, blossoming into one of the world's elite goalkeepers. When the ANL collapsed, he took his talents to the A-League and won New Player of the Year in his debut season in Brenecia. He's now a multiple-time champion. Kingsgrove have been dominant of late with Winterfyll ever-present in the back. He is known for his seemingly psychic anticipation and springy reflexes. Off the pitch, Winterfyll plays several Cosumarite folk instruments like the vevlira and the flojagu and is a regular contributor to the annual "Sounds of Ancient Cosumar" compilation CD. Full bio.

Left Back - Bacary Na'Kale - 27 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë Image
After cracking the Cassandra City first team on his 18th birthday and outshining established players, Na'Kale became the subject of a sudden rainfall of foreign bids. Mâ Âlâmëómë won Na'Kale's services and the Vloo further surprised by locking down the first-choice left back spot in Farfadillis almost immediately. At 19. Na'Kale has played almost every minute of the last several seasons now for the powerhouse club and helped them to a resurgent Farf title and Champions' Cup Final. His rise to club stardom has been mirrored in the National Team over the last few World Cups, in which he has registered a crazy amount of assists for a left back. Indeed, Na'Kale's calling card is his inordinate offensive production from the fullback position. He was somehow one of Mâ Âlâmëómë's leading scorers (yes, on the entire team) as they won the title last season. Na'Kale's pace helps with that, but it is his intrinsic understanding of the position and his defensive responsibilities that, when combined with his athleticism, touch and crossing, makes him so unique. He's the complete package. In with a shout as the best Cosumarite player right now. And he's still so young!

Center Back - Kurt Wolff - 24 - Image Real Azuris Image
At Pelethas United, Wolff was stereotyped as a typical brutish physical enforcer because of his bulk. And, to be fair, he did dole out his fair share of sore shins. The move to Real Azuris, however, allowed his full set of attributes to shine through in a more fluid system. Wolff isn't the best in the air (that's Svensson's job), but he brings a strength, steel and underrated tactical nous to the back line that helped Azuris win the Domestic Double last season.

Center Back - Peter Svensson - 31 - CAPTAIN - Image AFC Treason Image
Detecting a future centerpiece, Gethin Ramsey brought Svensson along slowly as a young center back even though he was already a seasoned champion at the club level. But by World Cup 74, Peter was truly ready to take over as the heart and soul of the Cosumarite defense. The entire team looks to Svensson as a leader now. A titanic figure for FC Jansberg through the entirety of its LigAnaia tenure and lately for AFC Treason, Svensson is universally recognized as one of the best defenders in the Premiership and indeed the world (if the Boldsport Galacticos index and a CC Semifinals means anything). He is a master of interceptions, looks as strong as he is, can dribble and pass out of the back comfortably and, most of all, is an infamous aerial threat on set-pieces. He'll contribute several goals per domestic season with his head. It feels like Svensson has been around forever, but people forget that he was only 19 when he started winning titles for Jansberg - and he was a homegrown standout for the Na'Malsille Mariners before that. He has so much experience but, having only just crossed 30, is still in a defender's prime. Peter is the nephew of Herrgly Svensson, a famous Cosumarite daredevil known for skydiving out of a space station, and little brother of Erak Svensson, a Congressman.

Right Back - Mortimer Chisenhall - 29 - Image Real Azuris Image
A prized product of the AC Holmenkollen academy, Chisenhall spent several years there as a young phenom before finally completing his long-awaited move to a bigger club at age 22. The biggest in Cosumar, in fact. He had a shaky start to life in Azuris, but found his footing - and more - in subsequent seasons there. The last few years have seen Chisenhall emerge as the best defensive right back in all the Härlighet Ligan and ascend to the club's captaincy. He led an Azurian back line that dominated the league en route to another Domestic Double last season, and was instrumental in Real's astonishing Champions Cup victory three years ago. Chisenhall's attacking capabilities are somewhat limited (though he did score his first two international goals in the AOCAF), but he is simply a sublime one-on-one defender. You don't get through him or around him. Off the pitch, he's a quiet lad and almost always has his nose in a book.

Left Midfielder - Bellerophon Serafino - 27 - Image Cassandra City Image
It's apt that Serafino's parents named him after a pegasus-riding Greek hero. With long legs and galloping stride that rapidly eats ground, he's a true pegasus-like workhorse. Minus the flying. Though sometimes he gets from one end of the pitch to another so fast that opponents probably thought he flew. It seems like each season he breaks his own Härlighet Ligan record for mileage covered, instrumental in holding Cassandra City's thinly-spread midfield together. Serafino was somehow still uncapped as recently as World Cup 77, but Alexander Pearce made it a priority to fix that after taking over. Belle has since cemented his place as one of the most important players for the national team over the last cycle. His unheralded role in delivering Cosumar the AOCAF should not go overlooked. Pearce is again placing a lot of faith in Serafino, constructing the tactics around him so that he must contribute heavily in every third of the pitch and always be in place in time to do so. Serafino's playmaking ability on the ball is limited - he won't beat defenders with fancy skill or score many goals - but he can flow and move and combine with the best of 'em and whip some nice long balls in. Off the pitch, he's known for his satirical (we hope?) covers of popular rap songs on social media.

Center Midfielder - Stig Söderquist - 27 - Brinemouth Image
Stig is a sharp box-to-box midfielder. His best role is to hold, to cover for and feed more attack-minded partners. He doesn't do anything flashy to pop off the screen, but he does all the little things that help a team succeed. Always finishes with extremely high pass completion and ratio of successful tackles in midfield. He's a native of Azuris who joined Real's academy system at age 11 and gradually worked his way up to a starting position for the senior team over ten years. With Söderquist efficient beyond his years as the beating pulse behind the curtain in midfield, Real Azuris swept the rest of the Harlighet Ligan aside for several trophies (and two UICA titles) in recent seasons. As far as tidy midfielders go, Söderquist is a rockstar now. A quietly superb player that any coach would love to have in their side. After a fantastic World Cup 78 on home soil, Söderquist followed Real Azuris manager Lujendra Mescalin to Brinemouth, where he hopes to shine in the world's top league.

Right Midfielder - Bryger Tidesson - 21 - Image Real Azuris Image
Ever since he scored in the Champions' Cup at age 16 and started the Cygnus Cup Final at 17, people have been certain of Bryger's destined greatness. With his teenage years now behind him, Tidesson is now starting to fulfill that destiny. An everyday starter for the domestic champions last season, he put up 16 goals and 9 assists en route to HL Player Of The Year honors. Quite likely the first of many such awards. He has everything you want in a winger. He's fearless, creative, technically and physically gifted and puts in effort defensively (even if a tad thin still). The only question is which celebrated 21-year-old will make a bigger impact in the World Cup, him or Isla. The Tidesson train is taking off and , if it continues to accelerate at this rate, he might have that right wing spot locked down for the next decade.

Central Attacking Playmaker - Isla Sibučić - 21 - Image Cornellians Image
Take a look at this name and the one above her. Tidesson-Sibučić could be Cosumar's creative engine for the next decade or more. Sibučić is a small, precious thing, but is an explosive playmaker. It's a wonder to watch her little blonde head zip all around the pitch and bring a defense to its knees. Sure, she's staggeringly quick, but the main way she makes up for her lack of physical prowess is by simply being a one-in-a-million technical prodigy. Whether it's free kicks, dribbles fit for a circus or you-name-it... she's wondrous with the ball. This season, all of that promise has started to translate into tangible on-field production with Schottic giants Cornellians. Sibučić has been an inspiration for them as a super sub and has even begun stealing minutes from the regular starters. Shale is having a harder and harder time finding reasons to keep her off the pitch and one senses that Pearce now has a similar "problem". Heher and Varghese will push hard to take this spot back, but after her debut in the Eagle's Cup (2 goals, 3 assists in 5 appearances), Pearce can't NOT give Isla the first crack. Hailing from the dark subterranean colony of Fevelo, Sibučić naturally has very pale skin as well as rare purple eyes. She's part of an emerging trend of extraterrestrial-born players making bigger impacts in Cosumarite sport and idolizes former Cosumar captain Paaron Petrov, hitherto the only capped Fevelian.

Striker - Romikk Valgard - 26 - Ulsa Image
The moment he lifted the AOCAF trophy on behalf of the Fiefdom last year, Romikk Valgard officially took over as Cosumar's biggest star. Given his run of goalscoring form in that tournament and dating back to World Cup 77, it's fully deserved. His rise has been dizzying. West Gundar scooped teen Valgard up from obscurity for $300k pocket change after he scored seven goals in Tredje Ligan. Three years later, he scored 16 in the Härlighet Ligan - the most of any Cosumarite that year. After introducing himself to the multiverse as an electric super sub in World Cup 77 (five goals, including a few late winners, in six appearances off the bench), many thought Ulsa would be too big of a jump for him. His transition at the #1-ranked UICA club has been a natural one, however, learning and scoring double-digit goals under the wing of club legend Kris Campbell. Valgard has methodically improved an aspect of his game each season and now has the touch, composure, two-footed ability (and ego) of an elite striker. Of course, his right-footed shot and natural athleticism were always first-rate. Valgard can thrive finding a window on goal in tight spaces with ball underfoot or running into open space with bursting acceleration and finishing with pure instinct. He's surprisingly weak in the air for someone of his height though, which Pearce has factored into the tactics, and can still be streaky at times. Also of note is that Valgard is the first player born on extraterrestrial colony Kalloroda to play for Cosumar. He also has a thing for bananas.

Striker - Ragnar Targaryen - 27 - Image CA Paulinthal Image
Ragnar signed with CA Paulinthal at 17 as a top prospect out of Cosumar's most prestigious private youth residency academy. At 23, he finally broke through as a starter at CAP after six years of simmering development. And what a whirlwind year it was! Solidifying himself as part of a lethal attacking trio alongside Valladares international Abel Brücke, Ragnar helped propel CAP to the Copa de Campeones Final. This season, he was finally able to win the SuperLiga with Paulinthal, stepping up to lead the team with an insane 32 goals and Player Of The Year honors in Pasarga. The phenomenal season, combined with his chemistry with best friend Valgard, makes him a must-include for new manager Alexander Pearce. He'll take back the starting job alongside Valgard from Zeale-Riddick despite young VZR's positive showing in the AOCAF. Targaryen is a proven commodity at the international level. He led the team in goals+assists back in World Cup 77 after all. He has the versatility, stellar first touch and passing ability. He doesn't have Valgard's sheer pace or brilliant movements, but he's a hard runner. And though he's below-average height, Ragnar is sturdily built and has natural heading ability when he can win the ball in the air. This season, he also earned a reputation for scoring from unusual angles on his way to 32 for CA Paulinthal. Off the pitch, Ragnar is heavily into sci-fi and fantasy fandom - a geek at heart. He's also a big fan of his hometown club: Mallox.

Remaining Pool

GK - Cormak Lethbridge - 32 - Image Coret Hawks Image
Tall, spindly goalkeeper. The best parts of his game are his distribution, unflappable poise and organization -- earning the nickname "The Brigadier" for his command of the defense. Above average in the shot-stopping department too, though Lethbridge has been criticized for his perceived unwillingness to venture away from the goal. He has done a nice job in four seasons in Nephara after leaving FC Kaldukosic, making his first World Cup well-deserved last cycle as Cosumar hosted. It might not be a coincidence either that FC Kaldukosic have since plummeted down to Sekundar Ligan with catastrophic defending without their "Brigadier". Foreign spectators, however, may know him better as the husband of a certain Chromatik superstar named Gabriella Antonio.

GK - Shjegrzh Na’Kefir - 24 - Image Handon United Image
The ninja-like Vloo became Keenan Athletic's first-choice goalkeeper at age 18 - a rare feat for a goalkeeper. In the short time since, he has accomplished a lot. He guided the Checkers to promotion, the top half of the Härlighet Ligan and finally the SBCC Final with his nimble leaps and strong hands between the posts. Then, he earned a move to the current Schottic champions and continued his strong performances in the SPL and Champions' Cup. Already being discussed as potentially the best Vloo goalkeeper ever, Na'Kefir is one of a few goalkeepers on the shortlist to replace 36-year-old Winterfyll as Cosumar's #1. Just don't mispronounce his name. He hates it when people do that and is prone to slapping offenders... even teammates in the middle of a match.

GK - Hansi Weschler - 23 - Image Crawford City FC Image
The highly-rated Crawford City FC youth product caught Amethyst Fegelein's eyes when she arrived last summer, and then the rest of Cosumar's this season after she handed him the starting job. After playing for Cosumar in three Di Bradini Cups, Weschler is here primarily to learn and begin the transition to the senior team. While he's unlikely to play before Winterfyll,
Lethbridge or Na'Kefir, he'll be hoping to challenge those guys, make a positive impression and set himself up for future caps. A very vocal goalkeeper who can already organize a defense well at his age, Weschler looks like he might be a better version of Lethbridge in the near future.

LB - Alexis Brill - 26 - Image Violence Chariots Image
Former U21 stalwart Brill has broken through as a starter in Nephara and solidified her place as Pearce's second-choice left back in the process. She hasn't been a showstopper for Chariots, but she has fared well by most accounts, which is enough to be impressive for a young defender trying to make her way at a major Premiership club. Her acclimation was aided by the fact she was already quite experienced before going to Nephara at 20, having played regular first-team soccer for St. Marie in Kernansquillec since the tender age of 16. Alexis is a slightly undersized fullback whose light-footed energy, pace and deceptive strength help compensate for her small frame. She flies up and down the left side, getting involved deep in the attack and ~usually~ making it back in time to defend. Her cross doesn't have much range, but she's pretty accurate when closer. Off the pitch, she collects antique Cosumarite dolls. According to her Instagram, she and her mom together have over 6000.

LB - Berk Lechjakr - 23 - Ausharmuj Marusi Image
Three years after leaving the college circuit early to go pro and join Ausharmuj Marusi, he just enjoyed a big breakout season in Farfadillis. Alexander Pearce took notice. Berk has an ideal frame for a fullback and is a physical, hard-nosed defender first and foremost. But he has a powerful and accurate left boot when he gets up the field too.

CB - Deirdre McNessa - 32 - Image Starling Image
McNessa came out of nowhere to make the WC 75 squad after Starling came out of nowhere to win the Nepharim Premiership. In the years since, Starling and McNessa have proven to be no fluke, both player and club boldly cementing themselves at the top of the world game. As a top performer for the recent Multiverse champions, McNessa must surely go down as one of the best bargains in Nepharim history after Starling scooped her up as a free transfer. She actually had a promising early career in Cosumar, representing with our U23 and U21 sides while playing for Pardock Island at their peak. But a slew of injuries sidetracked her development and Pardock Island ended up cutting their losses when she just couldn't stay on the pitch. At a crossroads, she signed for some newly-promoted team in Nephara, hoping to catch on there... and you know the rest. She hasn't been hurt since and has maximized her early potential against all odds. In WC 75, she became the first female defender to earn a Cosumarite cap. In WC 76, she then became the first female defender to start a World Cup Finals match for Cosumar. Marvelous story. She is tall, slender, a good passer out of the back and fearless in the air despite her previous injuries.

CB - Torbjörn Jorgensen - 28 - Image SC Rinaldi Image
Tremendous defender with big championship-winning experience in Cosumar and LigAnaia. He doesn't offer anything fancy like passing range or dribbles, but he's a beast of a physical presence. Jorgensen defends aggressively and wears his heart on his sleeve in every match, protecting the goal from every cross, every dribble, every shot like it's his only reason to live. He's deceptively smart though, and does a good job controlling his aggression intelligently. That mentality has helped SC Rinaldi survive and begin to climb in the Vanorian Premiere League despite being initially pinned as strong relegation candidates. His heroic efforts have even seen him named to the league's Best XI multiple times. Jorgensen was developed by the Real Azuris academy and broke into their starting XI at age 18, anchoring a title campaign. He was subsequently named Defender of the Year. At 18. His newfound stardom didn't go unnoticed and FC Jansberg subsequently added him to their collection of Cosumarite defenders alongside countrymen Soarhaven and Svensson. He won more titles there. When he played in Cosumar, fans of rival teams cruelly called him "pizza-face" because of his bad acne, which he still bears.

CB - Corella da Silva - 27 - Image Raynor City United Image
An elegant defender yet with a bit of scrap to her, Corella broke through as a starter at Valanora's most famous club last season and earned her first senior caps at the victorious AOCAF. A similar player to McNessa, da Silva will try to push the Starling veteran for her minutes this cycle. Made a big impression by giving Romikk Valgard a nasty bruise on a perfectly-timed slide tackle in her first national team training, which the two still joke about.

CB - Taddeo Loredan - 31 - Image Starling Image
One of the best defenders in the Härlighet Ligan for several years, Taddeo was unwaveringly loyal to boyhood club AC Holmenkollen through that time, turning down the deep pockets of Real Azuris and Cassandra City. After guiding the Cedars to yet another stunning underdog UICA berth four years ago, he finally felt like it might be time to try to do it on a bigger stage. Creed United came calling and Loredan settled in nicely in the Nepharim Premiership, earning another upward move to Starling in the most recent transfer window. Level-headed and excellent positionally, Loredan usually has one of the lowest card totals amongst defenders. A strong, quiet leader. Debuted in World Cup 77.

RB - Tevreness Bale - 24 - Tanrısal Image
Rocinante Prep School, Cosumar's most prestigious private youth residency, prides itself on placing its graduates at top clubs around the Multiverse. Due to a strong network in Pasarga, this often includes SuperLiga clubs. Like Ragnar Targaryen,
Bale signed with a big Pasargan club after graduating from Rocinante at 17. Also like Ragnar, it took him several years to break into the first team and lock down a starting position, but stayed focused on his goal and eventually succeeded. Now, Bale is being rewarded for his efforts and commitment to improvement. He could earn his first caps in Qualifying - and they probably should've come sooner. He was stellar for Tanrısal last season as they took 2nd in the SuperLiga and advanced deep in the Champions' Cup.
He's a modern wingback: tall with a long gallant stride and some smooth dribbles to bypass defenders as he floods down the right side. Exquisite delivery on his cross, but still needs to improve a lot at picking the right pass. His one-on-one defending is also suspect at times when isolated. Probably most effective when Cosumar is playing weaker opponents and will have most of the possession.

RB - Tug Cooper - 25 - Arrowsmith Image
Former U21 stalwart who has found his path to stardom on the senior team stubbornly blocked by the ever-consistent Chisenhall. Discontent with his second-choice role for the last couple World Cups, he's hoping a move to Eura will help rejuvenate competition for the spot. Tug's real name is Thon Cooper, but he was given the moniker 'Tug' by his coaches at boyhood club Ramusok United because of his incredible stamina (in Cosumar, long-distance racing horses are known colloquially as "tugs"). In addition to his renowned ability to run and run and never tire, Tug is a tenacious and tactically intelligent fullback versatile enough to help the team offensively and defensively. Goes forward more frequently and does so more effectively than starter Chisenhall, but hasn't always been quite as reliable defensively. Still has the occasional lapses there, though they have been minimized lately. Short and stocky with a barrel-like chest, shaggy greyish-brown hair and a smirking grin. Often cited as one of the funniest players on the team, with a clever, sarcastic persona in interviews.

DM - Peter Marshall - 28 - Image Crawford City FC Image
A stocky lad who has always been a dependable Härlighet Ligan midfield workhorse. The simplicity and defensive effectiveness with which he plays were highlighted in Amethyst Fegelein's new-look CCFC last season: a 4-4-2 diamond with Marshall at the base. A good option for Pearce to throw on when he needs some more meat in the midfield, someone who will play with tenacity but also smartly and cleanly.

DM - Ivan "Haywire" Hemeyer - 24 - Diamondqueen Image
On the other hand, he has Ivan Hemeyer for when he needs a pure wrecking ball. "Haywire" thrives on patrolling the pitch at breakneck speed: breaking up play, dispossessing and forcing turnovers with incredible zeal. Almost certain to get at least one card from persistent fouling, but seldom loses a duel for the ball. Son of a military colonel, Ivan had ADHD and rebelled as a youth. Was shipped off to Rocinante Prep School to harness his energy and teach him discipline. After a brief spell in Mercedini that never really took, Hemeyer found the right situation in a scrappy Nepharim lower-table side and now finds himself in a position to get his first cap.

LM - Tamer Yilmaz - 29 - Image Marinos Metropolis Image
Long on the fringe of the national team, former FC Kaldukosic product Yilmaz earned his first caps in the victorious AOCAF by completing the best season of his career. Stepping up his consistency and becoming a key figure in the Marinos attack, he helped the club reclaim the Valladar Liga 1 title. Now, he's earned a shot at any player's dream: the World Cup. The former Cosumar U21 player is a relentlessly technical winger who loves to get into the dangerous areas and take on defenders one-on-one.

LM - Mauricio Sigler - 33 - Holdenberg Image
A teen prodigy for the Zakhoro Aces eons ago and now one of the most-capped active Cosumarites, along with Jakk Winterfyll. Mauricio crossed the line to true stardom when he won Best Player at Cup of Harmony 64, and became a legend when he scored the stoppage time winner against Valanora to send Cosumar to its first World Cup Quarterfinals. He is probably still the most technically-gifted player in the squad (though Isla Sibucic may have a claim on that), but he can also still beat defenders with bursts of his pace now and then. Sigler plays with a certain showmanship and swagger in every movement that is incredibly entertaining to watch. A versatile attacking force, he can play out wide on either side or as the central playmaker. Before becoming a featured player in Eura, Sigler played in countless Champions' Cups with Real Atlantea in Taeshan - his first move after propelling his boyhood Aces to their first ever top-half finish as a teenager. Sigler is criticized for sometimes disappearing during the less important "filler" matches of tournaments, but he always wakes up and delivers on the biggest stages. Having his experience and clutch gene in the pool will certainly be a lifesaver for Pearce.

LM - Lorelei Neptune - 23 - Bishop Image
Lorelei is an interesting one. Culturally Nepharim yet eligible for Cosumar due to one of her parents, she'll bring a direct and explosive energy to the left side if she decides to forgo Nephara and accept Alexander Pearce's call-up. She helped Bishop finish top half in her first season as a Premiership starter, and many in Nephara are expecting even more from her next year. With the young winger's aggressive shoot-first mentality and sizzling strike, she could bring a wonderfully Nepharim dimension to the squad that is somewhat lacking in the other options. However, it's not yet a certainty that she will agree to be cap-tied.

CM - Warren Royannais - 28 - Longgeylin Coast Image
Smooth passer of the ball, great footwork, and a good amount of pace on him as well. Has the work ethic and confidence. There's real talent there, but Royannais long lacked the consistency and mental focus of an everyday top-level player, making only sporadic impacts. Last season, however, he was able to sustain it for an entire season at Cednia Beach AFC, earning him an upward move within the V-League to a stacked Longgeylin Coast in the transfer window. Another season later, and he again earned recognition as one of the top players in Vilita. The former U21 player has long held big lofty dreams of the World Cup and, after his positive AOCAF performance, it seems they are actually about to come true. Spent part of his childhood in Vilita, where he was inspired by watching Jungle Strike FC, and returned there after just one breakout season at FC Kaldukosic at age 22.

CM - Tiffany Elam - 30 - Image Ibini FC Image
Tiffany is a true hustler in midfield - she just doesn't stop running. She's quick, pretty good at pinging the ball around, and can surge forward or make a late opportunistic run into the box... but really she relishes the unglamorous work the most. Elam won her spot in the team after a great sophomore season in the Vanorian top-flight, helping Ibini claim 2nd place and never looking back. A constant feature throughout World Cup 76, she lost her starting place in the pecking order to Stig Söderquist in the camps leading up to WC 77, but she's still an important part of the team. At age 18, Elam turned down the #1 medical school in Cosumar to pursue her soccer career, moving to Kernansquillec to join Project X. She was one of the program's first standouts, immediately being offered a contract upon graduation to join local giants Guingamp. In three seasons there, she became one of Kernansquillec's best players before moving on to Valanora. Elam was the captain of Cosumar's U21 side in two successful DBCs and transitioned seamlessly to the senior squad afterwards.

CM - Denton Tapp - 29 - Image CA Paulinthal Image
Thanks to Pearce, the former Di Bradini Cup star played in his very first World Cup last time around at home - a reward for a fantastic career. But really, it's thanks to Tapp's own hard work. Giving up his newfound starting role at OAS Royal after he had just helped them restore UICA status was an ambitious risk, but his desire to challenge himself in Pasarga payed off. Alongside Ragnar Targaryen, Tapp finally made his breakthrough at Pauli four years ago. And what a breakthrough it was, as he helped CAP score the most goals in the SuperLiga as an attack-minded center mid. Initially considered mostly a holding midfield prospect with limited ability going forward, Tapp surprised onlookers by developing a propensity for making timely plays for Pauli in the opposition half. His energetic, ball-winning defensive style is still there, but he has also become a better conduit going forward, even tallying a bunch of assists and goals. A box-to-box midfielder in the truest sense of the word, as he can make the difference on both ends.

CM - Robard Horvat - 28 - Image Lammerton Image
[size=85]An orthodox holding center-mid, Horvat is tidy on the ball, an accurate passer and will run at opponents endlessly. Since leaving Tamarskand Fief University after just one season in which he won Freshman of the Year, he has been a one-club man at Lammerton, building a nice career for himself in Schottia that warrants a long-awaited first call-up. Not the most exciting player,
but the epitome of consistency.

RM - Kit Kvanderwyk - 31 - Image Cornellians Image
After some time in the desert, fan-favorite Kvanderwyk had an impactful return to the fold with seven goals in the World Cup 77 cycle. If there was any doubt that he was back in the team for the long-haul, the subsequent appointment of his manager/mentor from Cornellians, Alexander Pearce, brushed it all away. He and Pearce, along with sister Kathryn Kvanderwyk, were an unstoppable Cosumarite trio in Schottia, leading Cornellians to the latter stages of the Champions' Cup and multiple domestic titles. Kit has kept on producing for the ascendant club since Pearce's switch. His pinpoint crosses and technical prowess saw him voted Cornellians' top player last year. Kit was originally a hyped product of the FC Kaldukosic academy after cracking their starting line-up at age 17. At 21, Cassandra City bought him and he helped the Reds win the league, placing in the top five for Härlighet Ligan Player of the Year. That success earned him a super-sub role for the national team throughout the WC 73 cycle, during which he scored three goals. But declining club performances after that saw him slide out of favor until being rejuvenated under Pearce at Cornellians. Kvanderwyk is skillful, inventive and intelligent... but lacking the pace of an elite winger. He won't blow past any opponents - he instead uses his cleverness to create space before putting the kinds of balls into the box that strikers love to feast on. Off the pitch, Kvanderwyk is a massive fan of the Cosumarite heavy metal scene even hosts his own annual music festival: the KvanderFest.

RM - Corey Simmons III - 28 - Image OAS Royal FC Image
Ah, it's good to see the famous Simmons clan in the team again. Corey III earned his first caps in WC 77, joining his father and grandfather in the annals of Dragonshirt history. Whereas both Corey Simmons Sr. and Jr. were prolific strikers (combining for 60 goals in 125 caps in ten World Cups), CS3 is more of a tricky right-footed winger. An illustrious and confident dribbler, truly filthy with the ball at his feet, but sometimes bites off more than he can chew and takes too many touches simply for the sake of showing off. Alexander Pearce will have to beat that out of him so he can be more efficient. He also needs to become a better two-way player & defender in this system. But Simmons III's skill is undoubted, and with his inherited pace and athleticism... he can be an immediate threat off the bench. He's an average shooter from distance, frankly (though he thinks he's much better), but is an excellent passer in the seams, crosser from the flanks, and penalty taker. Can act a bit of an entitled brat in the dressing room at times. Scored 11 goals for OAS Royal last campaign, the highest of his career.

CAM - Alora Heher - 28 - Rozelle Image
Now an established star, all eyes are squarely on the former Eagle's Cup breakout surprise as she attempts to win back the reins of the Cosumarite attack from the ascendant Isla Sibucic. Apparently, winning the AOCAF as an every-match starter wasn't enough. Romikk Valgard was the big hero of the AOCAF championship, but the banana-boosted striker wouldn't have enjoyed as much space if opponents weren't so preoccupied with keeping the feisty Heher in check. Alora is quick, nimble and energetic, wearing out defenders with her constant movement. Most impressive though is her eye for the killer pass. She excels threading that final ball between the lines, through the defense. Her touch in tight quarters could be a lot cleaner though.

AM - Rowan Varghese - 29 - Tihon Tide Image
Varghese brings something a bit different to the #10 position than Heher or Sibucic, as a pure goalscorer from midfield a la Lampard. She doesn't quite have their creativity in providing for others, but Varghese's movement is exquisite, she's pacy and she can hit the ball well. Her path to get here, her first "real" World Cup (as opposed to the one on home soil), is an interesting one. A Pelethas homegrown product, she became the subject of out-of-control local expectations after scoring a hat trick in the King's Cup at 16. Weighed down by "club savior" proclamations, she wilted and, by 20, was glued to the bench. So she went away. To Chromatika, where she played for Urrheddiao for three seasons, rebuilding her confidence and reimagining her identity as a footballer. When the Chromatik league folded, she returned to Pelethas United looking like the star she was always meant to be. Partnering with Nepharim veteran Auburn Tarrant allowed Rowan's true quality to sparkle and she scored double-digit goals from midfield in consecutive seasons. When the Chromatik league returned, however, she felt a sense of unfinished business there and returned to join Tihon in their surprise Champions' Cup run. Off the pitch, Rowan's hobbies include photography and ballroom dancing (which her teammates constantly ridicule her for).

ST - Airik Ruhl - 25 - Chenoworth Harriers Image
Ruhl is a monstrous forward, using his godlike body to dominate defenders, yet with a surprisingly soft touch and delicate technique for someone of his imposing physique (when he's not smashing headers). Only a year removed from the Sekundar Ligan, he led Chenoworth to the Champions' Cup last season with a stunning tally of 22 goals. Most ever by a Cosumarite in the Premiership. Then he repeated it again last season. He's definitely a top striker now. However, his commitment to the game has been questioned in the past. He sometimes seemed like he couldn't be arsed to give full effort for Morponte Fief or Cosumar U21. The reputation has lingered despite his recent successes. He's not exactly a favorite of the Cosumarite media either due to his decidedly un-Cosumarite manners and troubling criminal history, which you can read more about here. Has trouble getting along with some of his teammates.

ST - Vega Zeale-Riddick - 23 - Image Samaj FC Image
Two years ago, VZR had what was quite possibly the biggest breakout season in Härlighet Ligan history. 32 GOALS IN 34 MATCHES. Yeah. That's a record-breaker. Sorry Anders Engström, your legendary 29-goal season was dethroned. She backed it up with another Golden Boot season last year (24 definitely still a respectable tally). Now, let's be real, Vega will never be the technical wizard or versatile attacking force that Engström was. Towering over most players and with springs for legs, she's more of a traditional center-forward target. At Samaj, she benefits from being the focal point of a system designed to funnel most of the chances to her. Nevertheless, by taking over the starting job there as a teenager and leading them to the Globe Cup and now the Champions' Cup twice, she has left Alexander Pearce no choice but to integrate her into his set-up. Some questioned whether Zeale-Riddick would function effectively in Pearce's two-forward system after playing mainly as a lone striker in her young career, but starting alongside Valgard through an AOCAF title run dispelled those fears. Vega proved that she's more nimble for her size than people first assumed and can score with her feet from reasonable distance. The public image of VZR is that she's something of a "spoiled princess", but in an endearing way. Most fans can't help but like the 23-year-old anyways.

ST - Elena Culbreth - 29 - Image Kingsgrove Image
What a year for Cosumarite strikers! Ramusok-bred Culbreth was always on the fringes of the national team as a good-but-not-exceptional striker for hometown club Ramusok United, but she has utterly forced her way into the national team for the first time following a smashingly successful move to the Brenecian champions. Her ridiculous form over the last two years has blown away any conceivable expectations, averaging over a goal per game for much of that time and winning two A-League scoring titles. Cosumarites have always taken well to Brenecia, but her goalscoring prowess there has made Tevin Lilley's accomplishments look like bit-part player material. She's the wildcard in this World Cup striker pool. Nobody knows if her form will translate to the World Cup with little previous international experience. If Pearce has the guts to use her, who knows what she'll do? Not the fastest, not the strongest, but what Culbreth does better than almost anyone is shoot the ball. A pure finesse shooter, she can pick out the net from all kinds of distances and angles on the pitch. Prefers her left foot.

ST - Kevin Stabb - 31 - Image Crawford City FC Image
The starting striker alongside Hannah Alcouin as Unified Sunrise Islands won back-to-back World Cups, the former FC Kaldukosic stalwart is now a naturalized Cosumarite. His one-time switch has been filed and he is eligible to don the Dragonshirt in official competition for the first time. While some may regard Stabb's presence as a cheat code for Alexander Pearce, the World Cup champion says he feels Cosumarite, having made his name here and resided here permanently for a decade. While Pearce doesn't have the pieces to replicate the "cinematic football" that he executed so well for the USI, Stabb is a versatile striker with no real weaknesses and a killer shot with both boots. Even at 31, his debut should be celebrated by Cosumarites as a potential key piece to a World Cup run. After all, how many nations can claim a world champion in their striker pool?

ST - Kathryn Kvanderwyk - 28 - Image Cornellians Image
Surprise, surprise. Alexander Pearce returns to his trusty secret weapon from his time at Cornellians. Kathryn is the younger sister (and club teammate) of starting midfielder Kit Kvanderwyk, but she's an individualist who has never felt overshadowed by her big brother or the necessity to compare herself to him - even while he was playing Champions' Cup with Cassandra City while she was still down in the fifth tier. Now that they're both stars together at Cornellians, their play styles contrast beautifully. Whereas Kit is all technicality and brains and composure, Kathryn is all pace and energy and heart. She's an energizer rabbit, seemingly always bouncing around the pitch with a spring in her step. She's not the most skilled with the ball, but she simply knows how to find space, make the right run and convert good service into goals at a steady clip. She's a bright presence in the dressing room too, bringing loads of character and high spirits. Kathryn will likely be a late-game impact substitute as she was in AOCAF LIII (her last call-up), entering when her energy can devastate tired defenses. If her and Kit get on the pitch together, they'll have fanboys and fangirls salivating Fiefdomwide. You have to think that's Pearce's plan, given the remarkable chemistry they've built up at Cornellians.

Staff

Manager: Alexander Pearce Image
Alexander Pearce, 50, is a Cosumarite legend at center back, and is the fifth person to manage the national team. He is also the first former player to do so. He has large legacies to live up to. Before him, Nepharim icon Gethin Ramsey held the job for five cycles and made five World Cup knockouts, also winning a Cup of Harmony. Before that, Farris Crowley held the post for nearly 40 years and took Cosumar to its first seven World Cups. What will Pearce's legacy be? Well, he's already proven to be quite gifted at building legacies. Just look at what he did in Schottia with Cornellians: overseeing the club's transition from the Multiverse Premier League to the SPL and going on to dominate that league with five consecutive titles. No one expects him to win five consecutive World Cups, but it's reasonable to expect great things - especially after winning AOCAF LIV and the Eagle's Cup in the same year. Pearce's credentials extend far beyond just being a once-great player. He possesses a well-rounded managerial skillset: studious tactical acumen, a creative eye for new talent, elegant motivational/persuasive speaking, effective organizational management and even shrewd handling of finances. Known for his ability to coordinate and guide others and effortlessly command attention.
Pearce comes from a family with deep roots in the sport and takes great pride in representing his family name and his country. In his playing days, he was a rangy, mobile defender who could play in the middle or at left back. He is a club legend at OAS Royal FC, having joined upon the Härlighet Ligan's inception and playing at The Royal Palace for sixteen years, winning four titles. Afterwards, he became a player-coach in the MPL for Cornellians, which was his transition into coaching. He played in a desolate era for the Cosumar national team, but appeared in one World Cup Finals and captained the side in WC 67 and 68 Qualifying. Full bio.

Assistant Manager: Casey Brind Image
With incumbent assistant manager Kennedy Kopenhaver bolting to fill the managerial vacancy at Mallox, Alexander Pearce has decided to recruit his assistant and ex-teammate from Cornellians to the cause. Casey Brind, now 42 years old, was a well-traveled midfielder in her playing days, which weren't too long ago, including stops at Iron City, Cranequin Wanderers, Raven River, Vermillion Rage and then ending at Cornellians. Pearce and Brind are well-oiled machine, a proven good team through recent glories at Cornellians. Brind will be hoping that the success translates to the international level, inspired by helping fill the void of Nepharim legend Gethin Ramsey. Maybe this is the start of a storied international managerial career of her own.

THE HOLY EMPIRE WC 79 SQUAD

While the nation took a long break from WCs 8 through 24, the Holy Empire is proud to be the only active nation to have participated in WC 1.

Though it pretends not to be, the nation is equally proud to have won 4 World Cup titles

This time the Holy Empire is represented by intergalactic space pirates!

Aaaaarrrrrrrr

OOC: Most of the team slowly turned into zombies over the course of WC qualification. Most of them are now intergalactic zombie space pirates. Intergalactic zombie space pirates are cool.

This RP gives some more details about what to expect: viewtopic.php?p=33012232#p33012232

Zombified players are indicated by a Z next to their names.

Important detail: No more zombies, please! William Space Captain Kiddddddddd'd and Jean-François de La Rocket Ship de Roberval must not become zombified, please; I have separate RP plans for them

Goal:
Calico Sirius Rackham Z

Defence:
Blue Shift Bart Z
Montbars the Exterminator Z
Black Hole Sam Z

Midfield:
Benjamin 'Helmet Stealer' Hornigold Z
Galaxy Legs Greaves Z
William Space Captain Kiddddddddd'd [CAP]
Leigh 'Asteroid' Ashworth Z
Jean-François de La Rocket Ship de Roberval

Forwards:
Quasar Beard Teach Z
Alexander 'Space Steel' Dalzeel Z

Substitutes:
The Galactic Hebrew Hellion [g] Z
Lucifer Hendrick Jacobszoon [def] Z
Basilica Handz [mid] Z
François 'Space Flail' l'Olonnais [mid] Z
El Diabolito [for] Z

Coaches:

The team coach remains World Cup Hall of Fame legend Juan Tzimisces

The assistant coach remains Starblaydi World Cup Hall of Fame legend Simeone Di Bradini

Style Modifiers / formation

Frosty football is attacking football. The Holy Empire always plays a 3-5-2 formation using overlapping wingers that turns into 3-3-4 on the counterattack.

[OOC'ly, for the purposes of scorination, the team uses the maximum attacking style modifier permitted by each cup's hosts.]

Kit
The team will wear famous Imperial Gold and Red, as worn by the Holy Empire since WC1...

(home top, away bottom)
Image
Image

OOC'ly, the kits were designed by Red Blackiland, and the crest by Audioslavia - and I'm entirely grateful; I'm very happy for RB and Audio to take OOC credit. IC'ly, HEFA deny the Mundies had anything to do with it.

Stadium
The Holy Empire plays its home matches in the bejewelled, platinum-domed, and purple stone-walled Imperial Hippodrome, the oldest World Cup venue still in use, and one of the most famous - and impressive - stadiums in the multiverse.

RP instructions:
Have fun; but don't kill anyone, and don't try and launch attacks on the Dreamed Realm - largely because you can't.

Some basic Dreamed Realm RP rules:
Remember that the Dreamed Realm lies entirely outside of Ordinary Reality, and is utterly impervious to harm from what we charmingly call 'mundies'.

Some points to remember about travel to, and playing in, the Dreamed Realm:

1) We control the nature of reality in the Dreamed Realm; reality and time are malleable within the Realm. This isn't used to cheat - all normal rules of football are strenuously followed - but it does have two major side effects:
A) Any injuries to either team in Imperial home matches are immediately healed.
B) No violent or riotous behaviour by visiting fans will be tolerated, unless permission is received in advance (please file applications for violent rioting in triplicate). Any such behaviour undertaken without appropriate permission will find those responsible immediately transported back to Ordinary Reality.

2) Direct travel from ordinary physical reality to the Dreamed Realm is impossible. Some 72 hours before your away qualifier in the Empire, a team of Archregimancy [Eastern Orthodox Christian] monks will arrive in your home stadium and construct a portal to the Dreamed Realm. You may then use this to travel to the Empire at your convenience.

The Euran Football Association’s 79th World Cup Qualifying Squad

Manager: Steve Thompson (61, Eura)

All time Euran record appearance holder Steve Thompson, with 301 caps to his name and 75 goals, was made Euran manager amidst much fanfare ahead of the 20th Copa Rushmori and qualifying section for the 71st World Cup. By beating Tom Benedict, several other former Eura internationals and international candidates to the post, Steve had set himself up with the tough task of helping Eura recover from three consecutive poor performances at World Cup finals. Eura seemed to gain more defensive stability and ruthlessness under Louis Watson in his short spell as Thompson's predecessor, but while they dispatched of the minnows easily they underperformed badly against the higher seeds, and then fell apart in the group stage. Only a deserved draw with Valanora salvaged any pride as the respected but not highly rated Watson bowed out of international management. However Thompson turned things around with a surprisingly good performance at the 20th Copa Rushmori, though once again they came up just short of finally winning it - Eura continues to be perhaps the biggest underachiever in the tournament. His Eura side made it to the final before falling to an unlucky defeat in extra time against Sargossa by the score of 2-1, despite a headed goal from Craig Gilbert.

Many questioned whether or not this form would translate into the World Cup, and Thompson's side proved the doubters wrong. Their initial qualifying charge included a number of good wins including victories over Semarland and Mangolana, interrupted only by a frustrating draw in neighbouring Szavoda. However a loss away to the top seeds Royal Kingdom of Quebec, followed by draws against Semarland and Sandwich Territories, temporarily derailed Eura's qualification hopes. Thankfully Thompson turned it around, and powered on by veteran Skorji Oslograd's goals, they qualified. At the World Cup itself Eura finally broke their chain of group stage embarrassments, beating co-hosts Yttribia and the ever potent Farfadillis; their last game was an ignominious defeat to Star United States but they made it into the next round anyway. In the Round of 16 Eura encountered their qualifying rivals Royal Kingdom of Quebec and proved to be their bane once again, beating them 2-1, before beating Turori in an absolute thriller on penalties. However Eura's surprise advancement into the later stages was ended in the semi-finals by Rushmori rivals Pasarga, the goals of Brigham's Dominik Mauer sinking the Euran's despite Skorji Oslograd's 100th international goal. Eura's performance in the 21st Copa Rushmori was less admirable as they stumbled through the group stage before an undeserved quarter final exit to Taeshan.

The next cycle was met by more outstanding football and more heartbreak while Brigham were having that season at home. Eura blitzed their way to their third World Cup final, living up to the hype that followed the last cycle. They were particularly potent in having the most dangerous goalscoring record of any team, especially given Ashtree's age and Campbell's rawness being the only options up front, and went on a remarkable run of form that culminated in a famous 5-0 semi-final drubbing of Vilita. However Eura's newest nemesis Pasarga stood in the way again and defeated them at the final hurdle in a tight contest, and then knocked Eura out of the Copa Rushmori in the later stages on penalties after Eura had started impressively, and had won a 5-3 thriller against rivals Sameba. After these close misses, Eura were wondering what they have to do to win an international tournament again. Despite this it had been a good time for Eura, at 2nd in the world - their highest ranking - and it is hard to argue that, on paper at least, only Pasarga had claim to be better. However there remained some lurking doubts; Eura's previous two finals produced the same issues of key players about to pass their peak and major changes to the starting lineup, and were followed by a quarter final exit and then several years of mediocrity.

Finally, at the 73rd World Cup, all doubts were erased as Thompson cemented himself as a legend as both a player and coach for Eura by winning the World Cup, making Eura the first country from Rushmore to do it twice. An exceptional squad with an exceptional manager swept away a qualifying group of intermediate difficulty with a 100% record, a first for the Euran national team, before kicking off the World Cup with a memorable 7-3 thrashing of Free Republics. Confident victories against Ceni, Cosumar and Apox followed before a rather overconfident Farfadillis who had just shocked Osarius 5-1, were swept away 6-1 by Kris Campbell and company. After Eura's normal time win streak was ended by a draw against underdogs San Jose Guayabal, which ended with Eura winning a drawn out penalty shootout for the first time in a while, they were set up for a tantalising final clash with Pasarga. Eura, despite their fantastic record, were considered slight underdogs against Pasarga due to the perceived mental barrier Eura had developed against the side from northern Rushmore. Thompson and his team were finally rewarded though for their efforts with a tight but deserved victory over the Pasargan's, after a spectacular campaign including particularly exceptional performances from the likes of Craig Sinclair, Kris Campbell, Craig Gilbert and John Spartan. They followed this up by finally winning the Copa Rushmori, beating Taeshan in New Gelderland.

Unfortunately, Eura failed to defend either of these titles. They were as brilliant as usual on their way to the World Cup but their now ageing defence looked frail, and was exposed against Pasarga in that sensational 6-5 win, as well as in several high scoring victories and draws in qualifying. It all came apart against Nephara, who they had beaten 4-3 in the group stage, by the same margin but in reverse. Then at the Copa, Eura were advancing comfortably on home turf before an inexplicable defeat by the same margin to Polaskaan, which many blamed on an incorrect decision to send off Frank Ainsworth, and two of the visitors goals being from offside positions. It was an anti-climactic and extremely disappointing end to that tournament for Eura and has led to big changes in the Euran squad. It is a Euran team that, on the bright side, is now ranked number one in the international rankings for the first time ever. The challenge for Steve Thompson now is to replace the ageing generation that has taken Eura to heights it has never reached before, with only Kris Campbell, Joel Sutton and Frank Ainsworth remaining young from that group - Waller, Chuchilli and Rogers has retired, while Spartan, Watson, Gilbert, Blackthorn and even Sinclair cannot be around forever. Thankfully Eura have some excellent young stars.

A poor performance struck at the 75th tournament, ending the good run - out at the group stage in embarrasing fashion. Or normally it would be. But the terrible crime committed against Eura by Sameba overwhelmed any thoughts of how we are doing in the football, and led to the Euran FA rearranging the scheduling so that Season 30 would start earlier, continuing the one season per World Cup schedule when they had hoped to abandon it. Oakstone have moved stadium due to pressures on their city. This has left the Euran team, who almost sleepwalked through the Copa straight after the World Cup, in a state of disarray for a short time. High profile retirements such as those of Gareth Blackthorn, Ben Prince, Joe Caffin, Gavin Madison and Mark Rogers struck the team. Craig Gilbert was apparently persuaded to continue only due to an emotional intervention by Steve Thompson. The show had to go on despite difficult times on and off the pitch. Finally, Eura were given some relief by an unexpected triumph at Copa Rushmori 27, where the old guard came in to help the younger generation escape a patchy group stage performance to reach the final. John Spartan scored a tap in to beat Valladares to the title, his third goal in three winning major international finals for Eura. Craig Gilbert finally retired off the back of this.

Eura then shocked the odds again at the 78th World Cup, overcoming a disappointing qualifying performance to fight their way to the final tooth and nail, beating top teams despite what were at times underwhelming and tired defensive performances. It was a testament to Eura's quality that they made it to the final when out of form but they were then struck by the bad fortune of facing another scrappy side in the final, Electrum, who beat Eura 3-1 - our third World Cup final defeat. It was nevertheless another heroic and emotional performance that coincided with a turn of fortunes in the war with Sameba. Craig Sinclair and John Spartan finally retired from international duty with their heads held high and a standing ovation at their exits in the final, another in which Spartan scored although it wasn't a winning goal this time. After a decent Copa showing (reaching the semi-finals) and a two year gap between World Cups rather than one, Steve Thompson continues his project to set up a Euran side built for the future, but with a healthy dose of experience recalled for this cycle's challenges.

Assistant Manager: Matt Boyce (61, Eura)

Boyce was a surprise appointment as Thompson’s assistant, having been out of coaching roles for a couple of years. However he has plenty of experience at various clubs and the national team before that and his appointment has been responded to positively. He has played a pivotal role in maintaining Eura’s improvements at the back, while his bubbly personality and reputation as a leader make him a valuable asset in the dressing room. He has been a key ingredient in Thompson's success, and has proven a lot less of a competitor, and more like an assistant, than Dimitri Campbell was to Ben Randall.

3 – Harvey Conway - LB - 29 - 76 - 2 - Holdenberg
4 – Bryan Butler - CB - 30 - 80 - 1 - Spartangrad
5 – Frank Ainsworth - CB - 32 - 141 - 10 - Ulsa
15 – John Leach – CB – 26 – 21 - 0 - Ulsa
19 – Harvey Blake - CB - 22 - 0 - 0 - Spartangrad
21 – Ethan Cook – RB – 26 – 20 - 0 - Directus
23 – Anthony Cotra - LB - 34 - 32 - 2 - Falourr
25 – Evan Smith - CB - 27 - 1 - 0 - Farrenton Athletic
27 – Oliver Murray - CB - 26 - 0 - 0 - Holdenberg

Dylan Kirby has been dropped and will likely not play for Eura again, and its no surprise that the hugely promising Harvey Blake has shot into the reserve side, which must be frustrating for the older and waiting Evan Smith. The biggest surprise is the return of Anthony Cotra over Jude Skinner despite the competition for his spot at Falourr and his age of 34. This risky callup is one of several unanticipated returns for several veteran players in this squad just weeks after Steve Thompson had promised a very youthful team. Although Eura's defence suffered several implosions last cycle they have generally demonstrated more calm in the past two years. Much of this is thanks to tactical changes rather than improved quality at the back but at the moment Eura do at least have a formidable choice of defenders coming in place of decent players like Kirby. Coles and Cook are luxurious options to have at right back, left back is covered nicely by Conway with the odd one out Cotra not bad either (and there's plenty more options in Euraleague waiting to play). At centreback Eura have real depth, but maybe not quite to the level of the era of Gilbert, Rogers and a younger Ainsworth, and the string of players who had to wait in line behind them.

Midfielders

6 – Sterling Rose - CDM - 32 - 154 - 9 - AC Izotz Zubia (Audioslavia)
7 – Oscar Coltrane - AM - 26 - 89 - 32 - Sabrefell Athletic (Nephara)
8 – Freddie Nolan - CM/CAM - 32 - 44 - 7 - Ulsa
11 - Joel Sutton - LW - 32 - 144 - 37 - Metropolis Alligators (Valladares)
12 - Peter Morrison – RM – 32 – 55 - 10 - Eastweald (Cosumar)
16 – Isaac Holt – CM/RM – 31 – 39 - 6 - Hondo FC (Valanora)
18 – Gael Tobin - CAM - 27 - 1 - 0 - Falourr
20 – John Talbot - CDM - 25 - 14 - 0 - Spartangrad
22 – Liam Armstrong - CM - 23 - 2 - 0 - Starling (Nephara)
24 – Harry Gravesen - CM - 23 - 3 - 0 - Spartangrad
28 – Tom Robson - CM/LM - 31 - 13 - 3 - Brigham
29 - Jeremy Benedict - LW - 26 - 0 - 0 - Bastion

Charles Hunter's retirement had some obvious solutions, with a number of brilliant young players at Eura's disposal. For now however Thompson has opted to recall Freddie Nolan, who feared for his international career after failing to make the Copa Rushmori 28 squad at 31 having never broken into the first team regularly. It was odd that he was dropped in the first place given his good form regardless of Eura's wealth of options in central midfield. However he and the similarly peaked but determined to make their international mark Isaac Holt have an awful lot to prove alongside steely new captain Sterling Rose, who hit 150 caps as a resolute captain in that Copa Rushmori run to the semi-finals. Eura have strangely selected three players who specialise in left midfield but this is possibly because Tom Robson has recently been playing as a central midfielder for Brigham. Uncapped Jeremy Benedict is the new winger in town. Sinclair, Hunter and Spartan might have gone since the last World Cup, but there are still some veteran midfielders in this lineup who will recognise that this is the most important call up they will get.

Forwards

9 – Kris Campbell - ST - 34 - 143 - 99 - Ulsa
10 – Dion Underwood - ST - 26 - 43 - 26 - Bastion
14 – Lofty Jones - CF - 28 - 52 - 22 - Bastion
17 – Josh Holmes – AM/CF – 26 – 17 - 9 - Revolutionaries
26 – Dean Sharp - ST - 25 - 1 - 0 - Directus

The one area where Eura have no real selection issues is up front whether playing with one striker or two. Its the same old story; Eura are overloaded with quality strikers, many of whom would start and have great international careers in other countries but never make it in Eura. Kris Campbell is 34 but still a ruthless goal scoring machine, less reliant on pace now and with the same high conversion rate as ever. In most lists of great Euran forwards, he is now firmly up there with Skorji Oslograd and Sam Needle - often above both in fact - and only exceeded by Lee Sharp. What makes it all the more amazing is that unlike the other three, he was never expected to be this good. Nevertheless Kris played a lot less than usual at the last Copa and only scored three goals, hardly bad but less lethal than usual. Eura were experimenting with Sharp-like pace merchant Dion Underwood up front, with Bastion strike partner the massive Lofty Jones. With terrifically entertaining complete forward Josh Holmes and poacher Dean Sharp (son of Lee) on the bench, and other decent strikers in reserve, Eura are spoiled for firepower. The question is how long the main man can keep going for.

Preferred starting lineup

Note; does not take into account suspensions, injuries or any other change. At the end of each RP I post, I will try to give a team for the next match and formation type. If no such lineup is posted, assume that there have been no changes and use the lineup below.

GK - 1. R Griffin
RWB - 2. S Coles
RCB - 4. B Butler

Islana Lunigo, a happy little island of 5,500, resides itself within the eastern depths of Esportiva, the mightiest region of modern NSS. Allying itself as the right-hand nation to the magnificent Qasden, the community boasts itself on having one of the happiest citizen rates of the Qailpyme Orginization.

Every year, the capital city of Moaria is flocked frequently by lovely ignorant tourists for their star-stunning beaches and spectacular cuisine, not to mention an extensive list of aquatic recreation centers. On the far side of the island, rural sprawls of luscious rain forests and water falls fill the void uninhabited by the native Lunigans, whom are of the only few peoples allowed south of the center mountain, Mt. Sutu. Like its cat-loving companion, Islana culture enjoys the partaking in various sports, including (but not limited to) beach soccer, archery, tennis, volleyball, and even baseball. Internationally, Islana made its greatest prominences in the World Baseball Classic and Beach Soccer World Cup. While terrible at the multiversal scale, Islana baseball had participated in approximately 3 tournaments, more than many other Qailpyme teams in any tournament. At the 12th Beach Soccer World Cup, the Dragonites managed to reach the semifinals before balling out to the fiery San Jose Guayabal team.

But sand isn't the only flooring where Islana plays the beautiful game on. The island is home to Moaria FC, an association football club currently partaking in Qasden's tier-2 league, FP League. The national team itself has made its way to 2 appearances at Campionato Esportiva, both ending miserably. After much debate prior to the unveiling of the 78th cycle, the Qailpyme Orginization Department of Athletics announced plans for the island's team to join the Vans on the bigger playing field, aka, the World Cup Qualifiers, for a chance to travel to Cosumar and/or Bonesea for the proper. More importantly for Lunigo is the Baptism of Fire, the same competition that Qasden placed 4th in not too long ago ('63). In Skaganes, Spaam, the Islana squad took on Kecrazia, San Regada, and Allahakbarium in the group stages with only one idea in mind, to win. Unfortunately, that idea was quickly murdered, as within those 3 games, the Lunigans failed to surpass the Regadans, eliminating them before the fun even started. In the qualifiers, a late thrust in power gave way to a stunning 3rd place finish, just short of the qualifying mark. Confident following the good season, can Kopur and the Dragonites crown themselves in their 2nd season?

For the duration of the World Cup 79 Qualifiers, matches held on the island will be played at the Grand Westportiva Park in Moaria. GWP, named by a local of West Moaria despite Islana being on the east side of the region, is the main tenant stadium of Moaria FC, Islana's sole club in the Qasdonian league. With a maxcap of 50,500, the park holds several amenities, inside and out. Inside, multiple concessions and a few restaurants stand, including big local names like Orico's Deli and White Dragonite. In the parking lot, it is almost commonplace for at least 10 tailgates to be there. Wex Street, an area known for its plentiful variety of shops, is only a 4 kilometer walk from the stadia, while the harbor is about 8.

Our Squad

Since the BoF there haven't been many changes, both due to the team having done relatively well thus far, and also due to the fact that the island's rather slim population doesn't leave much choice.

Formation: We have none. Our players will generally be near our goal desperately trying to block the opposition from finding a way in. Otherwise, on the attack most players will hoof it up the pitch and most of the rest will chase after it. As a result the positions listed are incredibly vague guidelines and frankly you shouldn't expect all that much rigidity from us.

In the goal:
Obese William

At the Back:

Soggy James
Relatively Dry James
Woman Dave
Old Granny Sherry

In the Middle

Friar Johnathan (Captain)
Cool Simon

Daddy and Diddy Dave

Upfront

Crinkly Joe
Herman the Hermit

On the Bench

This lot form the backup for our main squad. They have no fixed position and will probably just come on for whoever's tired.

Cuddly Samantha
Girl Dave
Red Peter
Saucy Adam
Stinky Sheila

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:

Godmod injuries to my players: Yes (Must be silly and non-fatal)

Hand out red cards to my players: Yes (Within reason)

Whenever we hold matches in Britonisea, they will take place in the city of Burgendore, located in the east of Britonisea. Burgendore has a population of just over 1 million people, and is home to Burgendore City Stadium, which can hold 55,000 people. While it is a downgrade, in terms of capacity, from using the National Stadium, we believe that it is essential that other parts of the country should have the chance to experience the liveliness of the World Cup; whilst also raising the profile of the city and the stadium for the future.

Havenssport Presents
The Greater Vakolicci Haven; squad for world cup 79

From the fortress in the Della Barecci Metropolis there comes a much-awaited stirring. Radio and television reporters crowd around, as do the thousands of social media bloggers and private journalists...the reports are that Roman Rijic is about to speak to deliver the news that the Haven has been waiting for.
The news is likely to be astounding, and if Rijic is true to form it's likely to be much different to anything that's been heard before; for the roster is due to be announced for the world cup qualification stage, and if Roman is known for one thing it's shuffling around his players. The piece of paper has been handed now around to various outlets, the news is out; and we can finally reveal who will be fighting for the glory of the Haven and who will sadly be left at home.

Starters

GK: Micky Roper, age 44
Not a surprising inclusion in the squad, Micky Roper's ghoulish, disfigured face has scared many a striker in the past; his goalkeeping ability has the same impact. If you are 44 years old, and still holding out a starting place in S.C. United and Metropolitan's starting line-up you are more than qualified for the position of starting Havenic goalkeeper.

LB: Laura McCabe, age 21
Queen of the Province of Celeria, fast-paced runner and rough player, Laura McCabe is a mainstay of the Havenic defence. One of the few female players to make it into the male-dominated leagues, McCabe has shown that her inclusion has a lot more to do with her skill on the ball than her royal status. For one, Eastern fire of Caldonaris would probably not be the Celari champions if she was not skilled at shutting down opposing wingers, and she would certainly not be as readily selected as she is if her skills did not stand up to scrutiny.

CB: Evo Bolinkirios, age 29

A surprise inclusion in the starting XI, Bolinkirios is the centrepiece of a UD Valeno defence that lets in far too many easy shots. Acording to Roman Rijic, however, this is largely because the vercitile, tall central defender cannot be everywhere at once.

CB: Victor Rolinka, age 33

The continual parade of different Havenic defenders throughout multiple tournaments continues as Roman Rijic turns his eye on the veteran SC metropolitan workhorse. Stirdy and skillful, Rolinka shoud hopefully manage to bring some discipline to a Havenic Defence that has been lacking of recent years. He is, however let down by his lack of speed.

RB: Emanuel Saruni, age 21

Young and talented, big things are expected of the right back who hails from the autonomous kingdom of Celeria. Saruni is a prospect from a long line of sporting talent and is expected to continue the family tradition on.

LW: Miralim Tardenic, age 36

A veteran if ever their was one, Tardenic has cemented his place in the team by his displays of brilliance as much as his work rate. Though enitially a right winger, he was displaced by the undisputed star of the team, King Blacksen of Celeria; switching to the left wing he made the point that he could not simply be expected to adopt the roll of a second-string player. He is reliably good, if a little slow.

CM: Isabella Veltros, age 24

Veltros is not a name many around the world will have heard of, being only selected due to the injury to first-choice central midfielder Ahmed Zarinwa. She is, however a talented tactician who will prove a competent anchor for the team going forward.

RW: King Blacksen of Celeria, age 20, captain

The star of the side has not dimbed during his break from international football, with Blacksen expected to provide a vercitile and fast option at right wing. His penitent for scoring goals will see him as one of the front runners in selection for the qualifying golden boot, even if the Haven does not make the finals.

FW: Demit Cronan, age 30, vice-captain

Demit Cronan is the most penalised player in Havenic history, one of the most violent players in the league and the only player to be charged with insightment of riots. Cronan is a fast, physical striker who is known to 'take things a little personally,' often reacting violently to opponents and referees. He is also the leader of the Haven's fanatical supporters group, the red and green army and is known to bring a large contingent to the stadium.

FW: Sarah Court, age 12

Sarah Court is a small ball of muscles that is likely to attempt to jump over outstretched legs with the ball between her feet, as well as move with peculiar acrobatic grace. She is also a schoolgirl who loves music, art and animals; her two greatest weapons are her skill and her cuteness.

FW: Henry Liger, age 18

Oh God, oh God, we'll say it. It is the opinion of this paper that Henry Liger is not very good and that John O'Hare should be the starting striker. Leave it at that.

Reserves:
GK: Luc Cole, age 24
GK: Sebastian Squiarmal, age 29
LB: Pierre Emeilu, age 31
LB/RB: Rica Del Vorion, age 30
CB: Melissa Andreas, age 19
CB: Hosniu Verad, age 24
CB/RB: Eran Nosik, age 27
LW/RW: Goranail nos Cuimar, age 27
LW/RW: Liam Creston, age 26
CM: Peter Rakin, age 30
General midefielder: Olivier Teli, age 19

FW: Rachel McDonald, age 24
FW: Ezekiel Starul, age 24
FW: John O'Hare, age 28

My opponent may do anything apart from kill the players, and seriously injur the royals, court, cronan or Roper.

Staffing

Manager: Gavin Comi; 58
After the departure of Curtis Steeling to Super-Llamaland after the Ethanian national team reached the World Cup for the first time in the team's history, the FAE (Football Association of Ethane) rushed in an interim manager for the Campionato Esportiva before hunting for the next long-term manager for the national team. Unlike some other nations who look abroad for managers, the FAE decided to turn their heads to the Explosive League for those with managing credentials. They very quickly poached Gavin Comi from Loconstead United.

Gavin Comi, as manager of Loconstead United, has delivered the team to 3 third placed finishes in the league, and the season before last a 1st place finish, making him currently the most consistent manager in the Ethanian league. Across 114 of his many league games as manager of Loconstead United he has racked up some fairly decent stats. He has tallied up 55 wins and 33 draws to only 26 losses, equating to a win percentage of 48.25% - the highest in the league. This gives him a 1.74 points-per-game record. As manager, Comi has also inspired his team to score 228 goals (an average of exactly 2 goals per game - also the highest in the league), providing him with a positive goal differential of 72. This stats certainly make him qualified for leading a national team, as he has plenty of successful experience on the domestic front in Ethane.

He has had a strong start as manager of the Ethanian national team. He has a record of 14 wins, 2 draws, and 8 losses. He has seen the team score 51 goals, and concede 41 goals. He achieved Ethane's second ever world cup qualification, first ever victory in the world cup, and headed Ethane into the first ever foray into the world cup beyond the group stage. His attacking style seems to have worked really well, so he will not be changing his tactics this cycle.

Assistant Manager: Alvin Bailey; 50
The departure of Gavin Comi from Loconstead United also led his managerial assistant - Alvin Bailey - to leave the club. He was very soon picked up by Comi on the national team to be his assistant manager, shifting the previous assistant manager out of his job. Bailey and Comi cooperate together well, and so the Red Kites do have a formidable partnership leading them. The only question is whether they can maintain the support of the players (hint: nope).

Offensive Coach: Steven Carlsting
Carlsting has kept his job during the transition from 1 managerial administration to another, but the question is will he be able to adapt his tactical offensive style to the new style implemented by the new manager, and adapt to the increased pressure that will be on him from this tactical change?

Defensive Coach: Adam Hurnley
Hurnley has also stayed on from Steeling's to Comi's managership, but will he be content in his more limited role now the focus is more on attack rather than defence?

Goalkeeper Coach: Jacob Reeses
Reeses replaces the previous goalkeeper coach for Ethane, having been brought in by Comi because of their relationship. But how will Comi's reputation affect his coaching? And what effect will all of these appointments by Comi have on the unity of the team?

Physio: Keith Lambeth
Medic: Kerry Hanners
You have to question whether it really matters who is in these positions? But could the way the manager treats them bring controversy?

The Players

The team has gone through a number of changes since the last world cup, when Ethane progressed to its furthest stage in the tournament in its history. With Comi having fully asserted his position a manager following the success of the last campaign, and a number of changes amongst the player base due to retirements - the team was a relatively old one in the last world cup - we can expect to see a very different Ethanian side this tournament. The attacking emphasis will remain - a dramatic departure from the previous style of Explosive Football which leaned much more heavily towards defence, but this has had a negligible effect on the performance of the team. With a younger team with fresher legs, and a confident and secure tactical style, the Ethanians will be hoping to put in their best world cup performance yet.

Defence

GoalKeeper: Brody Church // 34 // South Saints
Caps: 72
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Clean Sheets: 24
Brody Church had a strong campaign last tournament. Despite the dramatic change in tactical style towards an explicitly attacking team from an explicitly defensive team, he was still able to record 5 clean sheets since the start of the previous world cup qualifiers in the the 14 games he played - a clean sheet in 35% of his games. Between the pre-world cup 77 friendlies and the pre-world cup 78 friendlies, Church managed 7 clean sheets in the 19 games he played - a clean sheet in 37% of his games. Despite the change from 4 players in the back to only 3 meaning less support in defence, Church has managed a similar amount of clean sheets suggesting an improvement in performance. With this in mind, he should be in for a good world cup run; he is not at the end of the road career-wise yet. This is evidenced in his performance as the main goalkeeper for South Saints that led to his call-up, conceding only 28 goals across the 38 games - the league best for the team once again. Church has shown himself to be a very concentrated player who is consistently 'in the game', meaning he has the right mindset for a tough, prolonged period of international matches. He also has quick reactions and is able to dive long and well, which combined with his height, makes him the perfect player to be protecting the net for Ethane.

Goalkeeper: Jeremiah Shepard // 23 // Birdingstone United
Caps: 0
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Clean Sheets: 0
Shepard is a new player to the international team, having been called up after Birdingstone United's strong performance in the most recent season of The Flame League. Shepard, who was the main goalkeeper for the team, played in the majority of matches for a team which finished the season in fifth, having conceded only 29 goals - the second lowest in the league - across the season. Shepard is shorter than many goalkeepers, but his skills lie not in his ability to dive and his reflexes, but his ability to read the situation well and act accordingly. He doesn't have the best reflexes as a goalkeeper, nor the longest dive, and he does struggle on set pieces as they are more difficult to read, surrounded by an influx of players hoping to keep the ball out of the net. However, he does perform very well in one-on-ones and normal shot scenarios, where he doesn't need the longest dive and he doesn't need the quickest reflexes, because he can read what will happen most of the time and move himself into a position to prevent a goal before the ball reaches him easily, or dive and move in the right direction so he can stop that powerful shot.

GoalKeeper: Louis Cook // 30 // Blashpool City
Caps: 3
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Clean Sheets: 0
Louis Cook has been recalled to play for the international team, after losing his place to Frederick Lewis in the 78th world cup. He did only get 3 starts, but his performances were relatively impressive. Cook effectively has a 100% clean sheet rate on the international stage to date - he hasn't conceded a single goal in his 3 international games. His recall is partially due to his previous experience in the international scene, but also because of his league performance. He was the main goalkeeper for Blashpool City for the season just gone, a team which conceded 37 goals across the season - an average of just under 1 goal per game. His reflexes are a little sluggish when you compare them to top-level goalkeepers, but he makes up for this with his ability to read the game well, and his height (6' 7''), which is a gift to the team. It is unlikely he will get that much game time in these qualifiers bar any injuries, but now that he has regained the reserve spot on the international side, he will be hoping to advance up the goalkeeper hierarchy with the retirement of Church on the cards within a few cycles.

Left-Back: Theresa Desantis // 30 // Sabrefell Moths (NPH)
Caps: 11
Sub-Caps: 4
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Theresa Desantis - player for one of the best teams from Nephara - is the primary selection for the LB role of the national team. One of the most iconic female footballers in Ethanian footballing history (and one of only a handful of females), Desantis inspires many young girls wishing to follow in her footsteps. She was a relatively fast player, but her pace has begun to decline as she gets older. She has good tracking abilities, and knows when to make the right interception. However, she has had some issues in the past with discipline, although with her role she is unlikely to withdraw into rebelliousness during the world cup.

Left-Back: Cai Woods // 21 // Birdingstone United
Caps: 0
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
A debutant to the world cup side, we are yet to see how Woods will perform under the pressure of international-level competition. However, he has shown himself to be able to perform well in defence. As the main LB for Birdingstone United over the past season, he has demonstrated his abilities through enabling his team to hold the second lowest number of goals conceded across the season. In the past 38 matches, Birdingstone United conceded only 29 goals. Woods is a young, but skilled Ethanian football player. What he lacks for in experience - this past season was one of his first seasons in the Ethanian league - and in strength, he makes up for in his dedication to his training, and his speed with which he can control and run with the ball. His pace is what makes him ideal for this position in the national team. He is a defensive 'super-sub' if you will, able to come on to the pitch as a last-30 minutes substitute, and can make an instant impact on the game, not only transforming the defence, but also providing help in attack down the wing because of his pace. He would struggle to last a whole match because he doesn't have that long a stamina, but with continued fitness training, he is working his way towards that.

Left-Back: Henry Williams // 31 // Blashpool City
Caps: 0
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
An ageing left-back who aided in an above-par defensive effort for a team that finished 3rd in the league. Williams has begun to lost his magic, but he's still a fairly decent player. He has lost a lot of his pace and some of his strength - although he is stronger than many of the Ethanian players in this position - but his experience and ability to act as a role model and guide the younger defenders has exponentially bettered, rather than worsened. He is on this team more as a figurehead and probably won't get much game time, but he is an important one and will play a very important role in training and guiding some of the players on this team.

Centre-Back: Darien Fear// 29 // South Saints
Caps:92
Sub-Caps:10
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Fear has had a remarkable season spearheading the South Saints defensive lineup, leading the team to hold the best defensive record in the league once again, having conceded only 28 goals in their 38 matches. He is seen as sturdy character. He also remains a constant feature due to his pace, but also due to his demeanour, which the selectors think will bring massive reward to the developing national team. He has also been included due to his consistency and ability to surprise, even when no one thinks there are any surprises left, which has been reinforced by recent games leading up to this World Cup. Darien Fear is not afraid to put his body on the line for games and results. Sometimes, this attitude can lead to fouls though, and he has seen a few red cards in his days. He is an extremely passionate player, and puts all his emotions and energy into the game, and a result. However, while he has the best intentions, and is one of the better players, he can sometimes get a little overexcitable, and make a few silly mistakes, which sometimes lead to goals which could have been prevented if he was a slightly mature player. However, with the few downsides that do sometimes create mistakes, he remains a very highly skilled player, and is a defensive masterclass.

Centre-Back: Andrew Jenkins // 26 // Birdingstone United
Caps: 0
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Birdingstone United's exemplary defensive performance this season has turned some heads, including the selectors. With Daniel Moore's performance no longer quite at the level needed for an Ethanian team which is increasingly getting better, he has been left off for the younger Andrew Jenkins; the man who spearheaded the defensive effort for Birdingstone United in the season just played. Jenkins is a dominating figure in defence and plays a role in intimidating other teams. He is big and muscular, of average pace, and is not afraid to go into a tackle with a bit of force. This does create problems for the team though, as his macho approach to playing can lead to fouls, and therefore yellow and red cards, and prime scoring opportunities in set pieces. He also has a 'macho' personality, which can mean he is sometimes quite aggressive on the field, creating problems through conflict, and isn't the most savoury or liked character amongst the team and in the dressing room, especially after a loss. He isn't best liked by the fans, which can create a hostility to his attitude. However, he has been assessed on merit, and upon merit he is a very skillful player with a few flaws that is up to playing on an international level as long as he keeps in behaviour and attitude in check.

Centre-Back: Kyle Cooper // 31 // Bourne River
Caps:29
Sub-Caps:12
Goals: 0
Assists: 5
Good with the head, he tends to be referred to as an all-rounder who is good in many aspects. He used to not get involved in attacks too much but he has recently begun to attack a little more, although he still prefers to stay in defence on corners and the like. He is fairly pacey, but can sometimes lack on the slide tackles, but has still got some decent tackles compared to many people in the league. He is very cool-headed, and likes to work in unison with the team, in one large unit. Can sometimes try to dominate in decisions however, and no matter how cool-headed and nice he seems, he can occasionally be fairly annoying, which sometimes leads to opposition players, and teammates, to retaliate.

Right-Back: Joshua Cook // 26 // South Saints
Caps:44
Sub-Caps:3
Goals: 0
Assists: 1
Joshua Cook has increased his role on the international team dramatically, now holding 44 caps. He has also had an impressive domestic season, aiding in South Saint's defensive efforts, conceding only 28 goals in 38 games. He has a sense of immaturity to the gameplay, and it has to be said that his skills and gameplay have certainly not been completely refined yet - he is still fairly raw and can be sloppy at times. However, with guiding mentors in the team that would be willing to help him become a better player, and this world cup giving him some experience, this should be, as well as a great world cup for him to come out and perform in for the team, a great learning experience for him, no matter how much he actually gets to play. He is a solid, consistent defender, and having made a mistake, tends for the most part to not repeat that mistake again. However, his inexperience does show, as he can sometimes be duped in some tricks, sometimes ones that he has not experienced used against him before in the Explosive league in Ethane. Not so good on the attacking front, he does tend to be used more when the team is on full defensive mode, but with training, he might be able to develop this attacking style of right-back skill as well. Not so good on the headers, he tends to press up against the corner kick taker, or not take a place in front of goal for them. He has got a good sized kick to him, and can sometimes be seen switching the sides of the pitch that the ball is on, to confuse the opposition, and open up gaps in the opposition defence, also helping on clearing the ball, and distributing.

Right-Back: Frances Towns // 24 // Old Sarum
Caps: 0
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
A debutant to the international side, Frances will be looking to make a large impact. Towns was a solid RB in a defensively average team this past season. Old Sarum conceded 48 goals across the season - just lower than the average - but much of the hard defensive work was done by Towns, who held the team up higher in the league than maybe they should have finished. Towns is a solid defender with a lot of pace. Not quite as head-wise as some players, his ability to move about and readjust makes up for his lacking in that area. He has a good technique with blocking and slide-tackles. He is reluctant to aid in attack, and prefers to stay rooted in defence - only his pace makes him appropriate for the winged position. He is average in her heading ability, but can head the ball with some power if required although his slightly shorter height does put him at a disadvantage. He is a reserved and quieter player in the dressing room, and this also reveals itself on the field with her reluctance to use slide tackles with a lot of force, and her preference to intercept and block. When she does tackle through a slide, she generally tackles softer and times it better than other players that would play in her position.

Right-Back: Rashad Bowens // 27 // New Sarum
Caps: 0
Sub-Caps: 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Rashad Bowens played for New Sarum over the season just gone, a team that defensively struggled - placing them 10th instead of their predicted Globe Cup position in the top 6. However, Bowens isn't here because of his defensive efforts - they were quite poor - but because of his offensive efforts. He hides within him a monstrous pace that, when unleashed, can create havoc amongst an opposition's defence. Combine with this his great passing ability and his strong crosses, and you have here a solid winger who will prove useful when Comi decides the team needs to play ultra-attacking rather than as normal. Because of this, he will probably only ever, if ever, be used as a super-sub, and won't rack up many, if any, starts during this campaign. It is a little surprising that he has been chosen as a back-up for the defensive position because of his poor performance in defence over the past season, but this suggests he is only to be used in times of desperation.

Midfield

Left Midfielder: Kevyn Stidolph // 33 // Mansestra
Caps: 108
Sub-Caps:9
Goals: 3
Assists: 35
Not the fastest of wingers, he can sometimes be caught out by faster players, but his technical skills when with the ball can help him with his attacks, and he can outdo players and trick them. He also has some defensive skills as well, providing a backup of sorts for the defenders if they do get overwhelmed in the new, less defensive system that the team now follows. He also has the skill of having great awareness and vision, which allows him to spot the perfect run and either deliver the ball to his running teammates feet to take it further, or to whip the ball into the box, and give either the perfect kick or header to his teammate, in order to increase the likelihood of a win. He worked wonders in his role at Mansestra over the last season, assisting in a number of the 66 goals scored by his team. He is the most experienced member of this squad after the retirement of Dewayne Boivin from football and therefore acts as a role model to the other younger players. He is not the world's greatest role model off-the-field, but on the field, he is concentrated and dedicated to the game and his team. Comi is not sure whether he will prefer to pace of Stevens or the strength and experience of Stidolph yet, so both him and Stevens are on equal parity in the manager's eyes.

Left Midfielder: Grady Stevens // 32 // Loconstead United
Caps:27
Sub-Caps:11
Goals: 1
Assists: 7
He is seen as a fundamental threat to any team with his crosses, and certainly one that they would need to stifle. Stevens is a very fast player, one of the fastest in the league for the matter of fact, which helps him with his deadly runs on the wing. Where he falls down is defence, which is something that he is certainly not quite so good at, struggling with interceptions and tackles. However, with good vision, and decent long passes, as well as short, he gets an overview of the game, and can sometimes control play from the left wing, distributing the ball across the whole range of the pitch. While he certainly won't help out much in defence, the hope with him, and his pace and possessive style of play that he likes to take, and his ability to knock in decent crosses, he proves an excellent candidate for the role of LM in the team. Stevens has a larger number of assists in domestic football than Stidolph, but Stidolph has many more assists and caps than Stevens on an international level. They are both on equal parity in the manager's eyes at the moment.

Left Midfielder: Christian Ali // 27 // Carredington
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:10
Goals: 1
Assists: 2
Ali has pace, so rockets down the wing, helped by his youthfulness. Combined with his great placement, which makes him great at crosses and long passes to set someone up for a goal, he is a strong member of this team, and will likely play at least 1 game during the qualifiers. He has a shorter stamina than other players so often cannot play a whole match. However, he can be used as a 'super-sub' as he makes an impact on the game as soon as he joins with his high work-rate and committment level, so he is the perfect player to back-up Stidolph and Stevens.

Centre Midfielder: Edward Hunter // 25 // Hullbury Town
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Hunter is a midfielder more inclined to attack rather than defend. He has good vision, and uses that to command the play from centre-midfield. His ability to pass to almost anywhere on the pitch from the centre spot makes him integral to the team, as it allows him to work holes in the opposition's defence through a mix of through balls, long balls, and short balls. He is relatively accurate with his passing as well, which makes his passing very effective in breaking down opposition teams. However, he is weak on the ball himself. He is fairly sluggish when moving with the ball, and he is quite weak so can have the ball taken off him quite easily. He does like to attack, but he will always require another midfielder to stay defensively to cover him. Comi does lean towards using Hunter, but can opt for his back-up midfielder who is more defensively inclined when up against stronger teams or when trying to hold on to a fragile lead.

Centre Midfielder: Dexter Stevens // 29 // Carredington
Caps:22
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 4
Stevens was an integral part of the world cup squad for the 78th cycle; he played in 22 games from his inclusion in the squad at the start of the qualifiers. However, this does not mean anything to the manager - Comi is looking for the best players on his team, not the ones who can boast experience. Comi saw Stevens as a transitional player, helping him move the team from the defensive style used under Steeling to the more offensive style used under Comi. Stevens is a defensively-minded midfielder at heart. He has strength on the ball and is solid with the head and the vision - all key requirements for a defender. However, he differs from the defender in his superior passing ability - he can use his vision to seek out deadly passes. He is a CDM at heart, and when younger always wanted to play as a CB or CDM. However, Carredington has helped him to realise his role in midfield. Because of his defensive mindset - in contrast to the national side's current ethos - he is no longer the first choice CM. However, Comi still picks on him in times of defensive need, such as when the team are facing a superior opposition or when they are trying to hold on to a slender lead. He is a solid player with experience internationally, but he will mostly be used as a substitute this cycle because of his defensive mindset.

Centre Midfielder: Leyton Underwood // 23 // Letson Town
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Underwood is the junior of the 2 starting CMs at Letson Town. He holds an attacking mindset, and is consistently doing everything he can to advance the ball forward. He has pace and he has a set of skills which makes him ideal for the CM position - passing, dribbling, authority to dictate the game plan. Because of his lack of experience - he has only been a first team primary player for a season - this skills are not fully honed. He could be a strong international player in the future, leading the Ethanian team, but he will be only looking for a little gameplay in this cycle, and mostly learning off the best.

Right Midfielder: Branden Veresoto // 28 // Old Sarum
Caps:52
Sub-Caps:28
Goals: 2
Assists: 23
Veresoto provides a very dangerous attacking threat to anyone who tries to face him down. He used to be awful to work with and terrible at crosses and assists, but recent intense training on these specific matters has seen his behaviour improve drastically, and his assist numbers skyrocket. He can be seen as very hostile towards opposition though, sometimes getting into fights on the pitch - card-worthy fights occasionally - and is easily infuriated by taunting from the opposition. He also refuses to work within the rules, which can sometimes get him into massive trouble and sometimes reap massive dividends for the team.

Right Midfielder: Andrew Biley // 30 // Letson Town
Caps:14
Sub-Caps:7
Goals: 1
Assists: 4
Biley is a marvellous winger who gets the job done. He has a little more pace than average and is much more inconsistent than average, but when he performs, he performs very well. He has a strong cross into the box and can often penetrate the defence with his sweeping passes, but isn't quite so good on the defensive side of the game. He has been noticed because of Letson Town's consistent performances in the league. Either he will turn up and wreck havoc on the opposition, or he will not turn up and just be there, unenthusiastic and uninvolved. He needs a strong, welcoming, warm community around him to perform well, and too much conflict within the team will put him out of his game.

Right Midfielder: Grosvenor Emmet // 29 // Carredington
Caps:6
Sub-Caps:16
Goals: 1
Assists: 1
Emmet was once predicted to end up as one of Ethane's best players. He has disappointed in this regard, only just making it back on to the world cup team after he was last included in the squad for the 74th world cup qualifiers. However, he has still made it into the national team, and is expected to perform for it as a backup. He has pace, which is one of the only reasons he is here. He is speedy and can move the ball. His crosses are poor and he has fairly poor vision, but he can quickly move the ball from one end of the pitch to the other without letting go of the ball. He is a threat to the opposition because of this. Outside of the game, he is a fairly quiet and reserved player, and generally doesn't interact with the team much when not necessary. He can appear lonely and isolated on the pitch and off the pitch.

Central Attacking Midfielder: Joseph Owen // 25 // Swanmouth United
Caps:19
Sub-Caps:1
Goals: 5
Assists: 14
It is his previous international performances, rather than his domestic performances, that has kept Owen his place on this squad. Swanmouth United had a poor season and now find themselves relegated to The Fire League for next season. Owen did perform at a superior level to most of the rest of his team, but his performance was still under-par. However, he has shown himself to be a skilful CAM, providing a deadly attacking threat. He has good vision and passing abilities, meaning that he can rip defences open with his passes to strikers. However, this does often mean that the national team can be caught by the offside trap. Owen sometimes suffers from a lack of confidence in himself, meaning he doesn't speak out for himself in meetings, briefings, or when he has a tactical idea. This also means his play suffers on the pitch a bit - he doesn't take as many risks or go for goal himself as much. This lack of confidence stems from his underperformance in the domestic league and his inability to obtain a transfer yet. If he were to be transferred to another team - showing he was wanted and people thought he was a good player - then his performance may improve slightly and he might begin to take a few more risks.

Central Attacking Midfielder: Keith Snyder // 31 // Birdingstone United
Caps:9
Sub-Caps:2
Goals: 1
Assists: 7
Snyder is a very self-oriented player, and that plays out in his performance in the pitch. While he will sometimes try to play through balls and pass to the strikers, he does often like to have a go at goal himself, sometimes from distance. This can lead to goals, but it can just as easily lead to the team losing the ball. He does have an accurate and powerful shot from distance, especially useful on set pieces such as free kicks. Snyder also has a solid cross, so is used to take corners.

Offence

Striker: Samuel Mitchell // 25 // Mansestra
Caps:69
Sub-Caps:12
Goals: 35
Assists: 0
Mitchell is a natural star and is great with the press. He has decent pace, which brings him the ability to zip round opposition players, to get the best shot on goal. While his finesse and technical ability when with and without the ball is certainly not fully developed yet, he has the passion, determination and ability to get the job done, which speaks testaments to the great player that Mitchell is. Mitchell is at the height of his career performance-wise and will be for the next few years. He is currently Ethane's best striker. He tends to work really well partnered with Wilmer Jaurequi, as they have been playing football together for most of their lives.

Striker: Wilmer Jaurequi // 25 // Sebio City (ESH)
Caps:42
Sub-Caps:41
Goals: 15
Assists: 2
Jaurequi is a young, intelligent player who is very technical in his play. He doesn't have the pace of other players, but the skill moves and finesse he has in his performance and shots on goal make up for it plus a bit more. He has good vision and accuracy, and performs well in one on ones and in shooting from around the edge of the box. He isn't quite as good at long shots, but he can also pass well which allows to him to build up his assists total. He is a great partner to Mitchell, forming a partnership which Comi is hoping to utilise in this squad. Jaurequi is effectively the supporting striker to Mitchell. He is also good at headers, which is ideal when facing corners and free kicks.

Striker: Declan Smith // 18 // Hullbury Town
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Declan Smith started off his footballing career with a bang. In his first season in the top flight of Ethanian football, he scored 31 goals for Hullbury Town, making him the top scorer in The Flame League - an impressive statistic for a young, new player. This led to him being noticed, and his inclusion in the international squad. Smith has a real eye for goal, and always seems to know how to turn every play into an opportunity on goal, even when it seems there is no chance on goal. He can score goals from anywhere and any moment, it's almost magical. His assist number is a lot lower because he is always looking for goals, sometimes meaning he ignores an obvious opportunity that a team mate has to score, making him seem a little selfish. However, he is always trying to do what is best for the team in his own eyes. He can dribble and move well with the ball, although he isn't the fastest striker in the world. However, he does have good vision and knows where to move to to shoot and to recieve a pass. This makes him a dangerous player to be facing.

Striker: Lukas Cole // 19 // Blashpool City
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Another player from the next generation, Cole is a home-bred magician in the eyes of Blashpool. From a goal drought last season (his second season), he has managed to put in a performance of epic proportions this season, scoring 21 goals for Blashpool in the games he played. He is more of a team player, and passes the ball a lot more than other strikers such as Smith. Sometimes, he can be too unselfish, harming his own goal tally, as he misses what could have been an easy goal for himself to pass the ball to someone else. This can also lead to mistakes in passing the ball, resulting in his team missing out on a goal completely because of a mistake. He is a relatively fast striker. However, he is weak on the ball and can easily be pushed off, so needs a little more space to shoot than other strikers. Doesn't like being under pressure too much.

Striker: Mohammed Hope // 24 // Carredington
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Hope is a decent back-up striker on the international level, despite being a starter at a domestic level. He has a shorter stamina than many strikers, and so struggles to finish most games. However, he is a very useful player to have on your team, specialising in long shots with his accuracy and vision proving integral to his striker talents. He is an impactful player, which means Comi will likely use him as a 'power-sub' if he uses him because of his high work-rate. He is also good at headers - perfect for corners and free kicks.

Striker: Scott Burgess // 19 // Loconstead United
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Another pair of fresh legs to the national team, his inclusion has been met with praise for 'bringing up the next generation of international footballers'. Burgess is a very fast striker, allowing him to breakway and rip apart defences with his speed and surpise. He is especially effective on the counter attack, but is also very useful as a point striker, because of his vision and his short-range shooting abilities. He is weaker at long-range shooting, and is not the greatest at headers. However, he is a strong team-player, and fully dedicated to his team.

Striker: Adam Daniels // 28 // Newton Castle FC
Caps:0
Sub-Caps:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Daniels is an older, yet still new, player for the national team. His experience in the world of football makes up for his lack of pace. Daniels has good spatial awareness, allowing him to use all the space available to him to get the perfect shot. He has powerful shots, quite often to the detriment of his accuracy, which can overwhelm defences and result in solid long-shots. He is weaker at dribbling though, and doesn't move too much, meaning the team has to get the ball to him to shoot. He is a solid striker though - he scored 25 goals for Newton Castle last season.

Tactics

The aim of Comi's tactics is to flood the opposition with the strikers and the attacking midfielders, hammering their defence until it breaks with a combination of longer and shorter shots. The midfielders will provide a supportive role in this formation and become the playmakers in this game of attack. There is a focus put attacks through the centre, but the team does also utilise winged attacks fairly regularly as well. The defence, albeit limited in size, tends to hang back other than on set pieces, providing a wall between the opposition and the goal. Counter-attacks will also be utilised in certain situations, especially when the faster strikers are on the pitch. There is also the possibility of switching to a more defensive formation when parking the bus or facing a tough opponent, or switching the midfield to be more defensively-minded.

Stadium

King Edward IV Stadium
Image

The stadium is situated in New Sarum, the capital city of Ethane. It can hold up to 75,000 people following a recent expansion. It is home to New Sarum Football Club - they finished tenth in the 5th season of Ethanian national leagues in their current form. The stadium can be accessed for fans from shuttle buses from the airport, and locations around the city. Plenty of accommodation has been set aside for travelling fans, and will be able to be enquired about on line in the lead up to games, and at the airport upon arrival.
