As soon as people can come up with a reasonable and common sense concept of sexual harassment, then it will have merit in something beyond a few cases, or in obvious ones like Weinstein's.

Until then, for some women, it's anything that makes them uncomfortable and that can literally be any routine behavior at all.

It's definitely become a witch hunt. We've already had the mantra that "every woman should be believed," which also equates to any man's denials should automatically be dismissed. If you are accused, you are guilty. It doesn't matter if innocents are destroyed, as long as every woman is believed.

This is just the newest salvo. When the Duke lacrosse team was falsely accused it didn't matter that they were innocent. It didn't matter that there was no evidence. It didn't matter that there was physical evidence that directly contradicted the claims. It didn't matter that the other woman who was there said the claims were a lie. It didn't matter that some of the accused could prove they weren't there that night. It didn't matter the accuser was a heavy drug user, a convicted thief, had tried to run a police officer over with a car, and was high that night to the point where she was actually arrested and taken to a mental health and substance-abuse facility. It didn't matter that there were time-stamped photographs proving the accuser had already sustained the injuries she claimed were inflicted on her by the players. It didn't matter that DNA evidence failed to connect any of the accused with the case. It didn't matter that the prosecutor was later disbarred for "dishonesty, fraud, deceit, and misrepresentation." None of that mattered.

Several members of the team were arrested and indicted for rape and kidnapping. The entire team was suspended for remainder of the year. The coach was fired (even though he had zero to do with any of this) and received death threats. He even had threatening letters and signs posted at his home. Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow Coalition offered to pay the accuser's college tuition, even after it was proven she made it up, proving their primary purpose is really to do anything to damage white people rather than to help minorities. Two members of the team were given failing grades by their professors as retaliation.

We are approaching a similar situation in Hollywood. While there are scumbags with multiple accusations like Wienstein, Luois CK, Spacey, and Tobek there will be plenty accused who will be innocent. Doesn't matter, any accusation is enough. Innocent people will be ruined.

Of course, Hollywood is responsible for this on both fronts. Firstly they allowed predators to take advantage of the vulnerable for decades, creating the Weinstiens of the world. Secondly, they created the hyper-sensitive pc culture we live in where members of protected groups are to automatically believed when making an accusation and anybody who is to be accused is to be immediately destroyed. Part of me regrets innocent men, and maybe eventually some women might get caught up, will be destroyed. But a bigger part of me is happy to watch the entire corrupt entertainment industry devour itself.

Are you saying that every man accused of wrongdoing is automatically guilty? Are you saying women are morally perfect and will never lie? Do you believe the mantra that every woman should be believed, even though there is evidence that not every woman is telling the truth?

The 4 I named are probably guilty. All of them have multiple accusers going back years. But when this is all said and done they won't be the only men destroyed, this is just the beginning. And some of the destroyed will be innocent, but it won't matter. All that will matter is they were accused. I guarantee there are men in Hollywood right now writing checks to blackmailers who are threatening them with lies.

This is without a doubt becoming a witch hunt, and most witch hunts begin with guilty people being accused. But it will spill over, and there will be innocents caught up in it.

If that doesn't deserve a report...
Crimes committed by Muslims will be proof of a pan-Islamic plot and Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand, crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of mentally ill lone wolves who do not represent their professed belief system at all.
The probability of someone secretly participating in homosexual acts is directly proportional to the frequency and loudness of their publicly professed disapproval and/or disgust for homosexuality.
If Donald Trump accuses an individual of malfeasance without evidence, it is almost a certainty either he or someone associated with him has in fact committed that very same malfeasance to a greater degree.

Considering the feminist movement has already violated due process rights on university campuses according to the courts, and lobbied for that to continue, it's entirely valid to think that this is merely another attempt to drum up hysteria/fear using the 9/11 tactics to crack down on civil rights further, and will eventually result in innocents being punished.

Each time there has been one of these media campaigns, there have been pushes for further draconian and authoritarian measures.
The Duke Lacrosse case is instructive in that it signaled the mentality of hysteria and authoritarianism in the progressive left back when it was a minority, before it managed to completely subvert academia. In that case, the accused were eventually vindicated and proven innocent, but that might not have been the case had feminists been more powerful and entrenched at the time as they are today.

You are on the wrong side of history on this issue. Instead of being here repeatedly highlighting innocent til proven guilty and opposing the media hysteria campaign, you're defending it. Eventually, you will hopefully come to realize what sort of people your behavior has been supporting.
Consider the frequency of the accusations that media have pushed that have completely fallen apart over the last few years, such as the rolling stone accusation.

In those, it was one accusation that was thoroughly investigated.
Here, dozens and dozens and dozens are being thrown out at once, not allowing further investigation of them, and media will not likely make a massive scene if it turns out some are false.

As i've pointed out previously, the campaign is one which is founded in baseless vilification of men, the assertion of feminist paranoid ideology about patriarchal norms causing things, same as they do for rape. (Despite as i pointed out, rape behavior in men being mostly connected to childhood molestation by women, and thus a symptom of trauma and dysfunctional sexual psychology, not patriarchy. The feminist assertions of mens mindsets causing evil things is thus based in nothing but their own prejudice in that case, as it most likely is in this one for sexual harassment and assault. Thus, they do not actually do anything useful to resolve the issue, because they don't actually investigate it. They already have their answers and do not seek evidence for them, their answer is mens mindsets are the problem, and patriarchy. They pre-judge the situation based on their distrust and lack of empathy for men.)

So it amounts to a prolonged hate speech campaign in any case.
That's assuming they don't push for further weakening due process, as some already have.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

Trust but verify is really a very good way to handle these things. Actually, I'm not sure I've encountered a situation where that isn't a good way to approach anything.

We could also acknowledge the fact that not everything in public discourse needs to be seen through the lenses of judiciary standards of proof? Mitt Romney, surprisingly, put it quite well when addressing the Roy Moore case: this is not a criminal trial, this is an election. Leave the "beyond reasonable doubt" and other such principles, standards and norms for the courtrooms. If public discourse and public opinion had to abide by the times and methods of the criminal justice system, most things probably could never be discussed, and there would be looooooooooooooong stretches of nothing.

I'd never heard of the Duke case until the manosphere started to screech about it online... so no. Nice job projecting your prejudices on me, though. Very nice.

No and no.

I believe that we should never automatically assume that accusers, regardless of gender, are just lying for some ulterior motive.

So you're screeching hysterically out of speculative fear, not anything concrete. Got it.

You referring to a completely separate issue does not proof of a feminist fear-mongering conspiracy make, Ostro. University campus trials have nothing to do with Weinstein.

I know you carry a lot on your sleeve, but you could try to have some self-awareness and really think whether you are actually adding something relevant before posting, rather than just carelessly trying to incorporate every single grievance into every story to fit an overarching narrative?

You could have just called me a "useful idiot" or "sheeple", and saved yourself a lot of writing.

Also, no.
