"Alright then," replied Sekka, "I'll need to contact Mac, hold on." After saying this, Sekka then pulled out an odd... triangular prism phone? It was quite frankly bizarre & probably best not to question, but still, he typed out a text on it & his phone sang out a hollow metal sort of sound. So it seems, his reply came back quite rapidly, of which he read before paraphrasing. "Aight, he estimates it'll cost around $12,500, maybe more or less depending on your eh... bodily measurements," Sekka stated, "It'll take around a month or two to create, if you want the sort I'm wearing right now. If you want the solid metal one, which will probably be excessively heavy, it'll cost some $17,500 & take the same amount of time. Of course, this is assuming Psytronius's services don't have any issues."

Hoppy's face went from thoughtful to a mild shock as he heard the price. As he'd said, though, he could pay the price and was willing to do it.

After a momentary pause, he would then continue talking. "Once you get your measurements from your own tailor, or a Psytronian one if you want to call one over. Don't think Mac would be partial to showing his face to get measurements..." Sekka's phone would then make the same hollow metal sound & he then glanced at his phone. "Well, he just said he would be fine, since he knows you as having talked to me. He can come by tomorrow to get your bodily measurements for the suit," Sekka said after reading the text, "Though don't be surprised by how... youthful & short he looks or his indifferent personality. Surprises most people who see him."

"Youthful...like as in lookin' like a fluggin' rugrat? Eh...Anyways...I be thinkin' I'll be going with the twelve thousand dollar model. Lighter. Not just cuz o' der price, mind ye, but cuz I don' need ta be weighted down by tha heavier armor. Yeah, ya kin have yer boy come by and we'll do tha measurements. Stop by tha breuerie and they know whar to find me, ya know? Pleasure doin' the biz."

Hoppy held out his hand.

Sekka would shake Hoppy's hand in agreement. "Alright then, he'll be coming into the city tomorrow & the two of us will probably be dropping by your brewery tomorrow morning, before the festival starts again, unless you'd like us to come by at a different time," replied Sekka after he finished shaking Hoppy's hand before then grabbing his triangular prism phone & texting Mac the arrangements, "Oh yes, & when would you like to pay?" After saying this, Sekka then took a sip of Emerald Wine as one of the workers dashed by to acquire a plate of Dela Deer Venison, of which they then took to counter to give to a waiting customer.

"Chancellor", said Helios. "I apologize for being kept away. Things have been hectic in the Empire. Having said that, would you like to have a meeting? Let's talk for a bit at the Vannish booth."

Fritz chimed in with, "Yes, join us. You can order from any shop."

"We can also visit your booth sometime", Helios said. "So what do you say?"

----

The Vannish booth would be waiting for the Emperor and his guests. The Vangazi rented one of the best booths available. They had a prime view of the Rugby Pitches, although they couldn't quite watch the play on the field.

"Well I don't see why I couldn't. Sure lets go." Schulte replied. It would be nice to finally have talks with Vangaziland royals. It would allow for the UNE to really get in touch and possibly create strong relations. The presence of the emperor also made this meeting really stand out to the chancellor.

The walk to the booth was fairly normal. Nobody seemed to recognize the two Vangazi. If anyone did, they chose not to make a big deal. There were many people from the various Vannish territories... From the Svennish Isle to the Tainese. Many nations would hesitate before sending such high profile noble politicians without extra escort.

It was partially a sign of trust between Vangaziland and Neu Engollon. The nation had more than adequate security in local police and Gendarmerie forces. The two also walked with a militant air that reflected both their service and their belief in the nation's military policies. Despite this, these two individuals reached out to the Prime Minister and Houses to end the mandatory military service policy.

When the group arrived at the booth, it was evident there was some customization. There were two large reclining chairs on one side, with a wrap around sectional facing them. There was a table between the chairs and folding table trays. "Welcome to the Vannishlands", Fritz said as he stepped in after the Chancellor.

A television monitor was attached, high on a wall above the panoramic window.

Fritz slowly formed a smile as the Chancellor took her seat. "So Chancellor. Where in Europa are you from? It's a diverse territory, hmm?"

The Emperor chimed in. "I'd bet such a wide landscape has varied needs. What vision does your government have for Europa? What can we set up now that will help both of our lands prosper for decades?" Both Fritz and the Emperor placed their plates and drinks on the table.

Fritz and Emperor Vang both had the auto industry on their minds. The state had partial interests in a manufacturer called Vannish Motors. Prince Fritz also had stock in the company, as well as several other public investors.

As Schulte was lead to the booth she continued to look at the booths she passed. Seeing all the different types of culture all in one place was interesting. It was a unique experience to see it all. Many would criticize the chancellor for walking with other world leaders yet the relationship between the two leaders were close.

Schulte had attended recent events held by Vangaziland but any types of meetings between the leaders of the two nations were small. She trusted the Vangazi men and did not worry about her safety too much.

Once they reached the booth the chancellor was immediately surprised. The whole room was designed for comfortable lounging and reminded her more of a living room than a booth. "Welcome to the Vannishlands", Fritz said to Schulte.

"So Chancellor. Where in Europa are you from? It's a diverse territory, hmm?" Fritz asked. "Oh I'm from Berlin in the state of Germany. I used to live in East Germany before the UNE was created." she responded.

"I'd bet such a wide landscape has varied needs. What vision does your government have for Europa? What can we set up now that will help both of our lands prosper for decades?"

"Well I have to admit it's a challenge to run Europa. With all the different cultures and different politicians we work with in the country it can get hard to please everyone" she said before taking a drink. "I hope that I can bring together more of Europe and allow the nations to work together for similar goals. I think that we can both start that by possibly setting up trade deals or military alliances. Do you have any ideas for any possible deals in mind?"

The Chrysalides had had time to settle in, soundcheck, and also catch some of the sights and foods (mostly foods) that the Brew Fest had to offer. (Drinks would have to wait until after they played, after all.) They caught the Frigidmares' set from the audience.

"Not bad, not bad at all," Cæse commented in between one of the songs. "They could do a bit more of the new wave stuff, maybe more Revolution, y'know?"

"I still don't get their name," Angela said with a chuckle.

The sun had already set by the time The Frigidmares' performance was over. When their set ended, Anna exclaimed, "Wait, that was it? That was quick." There had been a lot of songs crammed into that set. The Ramones would be proud, Dáuma had thought at one point.

Realising that they were next, Anna then ushered the ladies out of the audience and back into the dressing room — through one of the side doors — so they wouldn't keep the audience waiting too long. They had half an hour to prepare, true, but it was better safe than sorry, really.

This was exactly what they did. (Not keep the audience waiting, that is.) At 20:00 they strode on stage — the fact that they'd already changed into their uniforms beforehand had helped, and also allowed some people in the fest to recognise them when they were walking around — and greeted the audience with customary lighthearted charm. They had a 1-hour set and they were going to make the most of it.

Either that or the most humour of it—whichever came first.

Cæse settling in on keyboard, they opened their set with "Chocolate Cake". A funky groover with jokey lyrics taking swipes at capitalism and excess, it was a fan favourite in concerts. Dáuma played the harmonica solo on guitar, since they didn't have a harmonica. Angela and Franciska did the "ba-da-da-da-da" vocals, since they didn't have an Optigan. And the lyric about Annemarie Beaulieu laughing in her fact'ry place had to be changed to laughing in her grave, since she'd actually died in the time since the song was released. (And somewhere in the spirit world she probably was laughing in agreement, in that wisely playful way of hers.) The "can I have another piece of chocolate cake" coda was extended by a good two-three minutes, with Cæse and Dáuma letting loose and soloing on their respective instruments. (There was, of course, a bit where one of them would play one thing on their instrument and the other would replay it on their instrument.)

Cæse went back to the guitar for "Loose Tongue" — the electronic bits the studio version from Try Whistling This being obliterated by the swaggering rock-band arrangement, highlighted by Franciska's nicely loose drumming, and ironically complementing the more doubtful lyrics. Right after the lyrics "for a princely sum", the band threw in an appropriate reference: a bar of Angela and Franciska singing the backwards "ha ha ha ha" lyrics from the end of "Darling Nikki".

The mellower ending helped segue into the next song of the set: "Into Temptation", with Franciska switching to brushes and Dáuma using an E-bow for atmospheric guitarness while Cæse held down the rhythm on acoustic. Then it was Dáuma's turn to switch to keyboard — set to the Rhodes sound — for "Not the Girl You Think You Are".

"World Where You Live" came next, all the better to pick up the pace a bit after the band realised and joked with the audience about having spent 3 songs in a row in a mellow mood. It was followed by "When You Come" — Dáuma taking the David Gilmour-esque part while Cæse remained on acoustic —, "Tall Trees", another moment of gettin' funkay with "Left Hand", and a spontaneous decision to power pop it up with "Even a Child" and a cover of The Sunday Girls' "Jet", both of which Cæse and Dáuma enjoyed duetting on. (Franciska enjoyed getting her Rabnak on for "Jet", and Dáuma hitting the fat synth bass note with her elbow while playing the guitar, at least when she wasn't reaching over quickly to play the synth solo. And of course they sang "Was your father as bold as a Sgt. Pepper?")

The end of "Jet" prompted some humorous discussion among The Chrysalides whether they should play more covers, and they obliged themselves by running through Material Issue's "Diane" — Angela's smile at getting to play a whole song of bass power chords had to be seen, and they changed the verse about sanctuary by singing "she swears she swears she'll never marry", and of course dragged out the "Diane, Diane, Diane" chorus at the end for more guitar solos and jamming (what was the point of being a guitarist if you didn't ever solo?) —, followed by The Watts' "I Think It's Love", which they never even noticed they played with the tempo kicked up several notches — but Dáuma and Cæse totally traded off on the guitar solos.

Then they glanced off to the side at a moment and noticed that Anna was giving them the signal they were supposed to wrap it up soon. Their plan to mellow back out leading to the end dashed, they settled for ending with "Inside Out". Then when they finished the song, they all stepped forward and did a synchronised bow like The Sunday Girls, and then waved and blew kisses at the audience as they walked offstage.

As they went back to the dressing room, Angela wondered how the folk band up next would start their set after their conclusion, and laughed. Talk about one bloody transition... Windmill-guitar to windmill-windmill!

♪For the land, turn forever hand in hand...♫

Hey, we should totally play that one! If any one of us could rap...

The Emperor popped his bottle of champagne from Europa's restaurant booth while Fritz continued the negotiations. "Before I continue, there is an electric datapad to your side. See.. On the armrest. You can order food or drink from any booth. Make yourself at home." The Vangazi paid extra, giving the AVBF some extra funds. The organization did such great work customizing the vending booth, that Vannish sponsors and investors decided to do the same to the booth.

"Now as far as deals. Tell me about your nation's auto industry. Europa would be a great market for our cars. We mainly export luxury cars, so they wouldn't disrupt your national market too much. I can show you more info on them."

Finishing a sip, the Emperor added, "We should also move into joint training. Where are some of your most extreme bases? Maybe some artic facilities? Any really warm bases? We've got a few alpine regions. We do a lot of urban training."

Prince Fritz jumped back in. "And what is your military's focus? Do you have any missions we can help out with? For example, the Vannish Navy is fighting piracy between the trade routes of Yohannes and New Hayesalia... Not to mention internally with the Svennish Isles. Any naval issues?"

"We also supply a decent amount of military equipment if their are any sections you need to build up", added the Emperor.

"What did you get to eat?" Fritz had an inquisitive look on his face as he peered over from his recliner.

"Now as far as deals. Tell me about your nation's auto industry. Europa would be a great market for our cars. We mainly export luxury cars, so they wouldn't disrupt your national market too much. I can show you more info on them."

"Well our auto industry is doing well but there have been major plans that have been placed recently. Recently we decided to enforce a ban on the production and selling of all fossil fuel civilian vehicles. So only eletric cars will be able to be produced in our country but cars that take gasoline can still be bought and imported from other countries. So if you're wanting to sell your vehicles by all means we can create deals but if they take fossil fuels then you'll have to produce them in your country. You'll also have to make sales of non electric vehicles in your country and have the vehicles imported into the UNE. Yet if you're only trying to sell luxury vehicles then you don't have to worry about this as long as they meet EPA levels."

Finishing a sip, the Emperor added, "We should also move into joint training. Where are some of your most extreme bases? Maybe some artic facilities? Any really warm bases? We've got a few alpine regions. We do a lot of urban training."

"Joint training sounds great. We mostly have our bases scattered around but our most extreme ones are in the mountains. We've have mostly been training our military in mountain and asymmetric warfare lately due to recent events."

"Lately our military's focus is on the eastern side of the UNE. Conflicts have been rising especially in Ukraine where a rising amount of seperaist rebels have been causing trouble. We most likely think that Russia and other countries to the east of us are supporting rebels to try to separate the population and cause Ukraine to separate. We've had some skirmishes lately where our troops have had to fight rebels and suprisingly enemy armor. We haven't had any international support yet because other nations are afraid to cause conflict with Russia and other nations in the east. You don't have to but it'd be great if you could send small forces in the East to support our small number of forces there. We won't be able to send large forces though because it could be taken as a declaration of war."

"What did you get to eat?" Fritz had an inquisitive look on his face as he peered over from his recliner. "Huh, oh nothing yet." Schulte responded.

By now, the older Vang started on his cinnamon rolls. He ate with a knife and fork, with the tray on the table, eating fairly formally. It was still casual compared to some royals. There were no extra napkins placed or special postures. The Vangazi were just enjoying the booth and focusing on the talks.

"We keep hearing about electric cars." Fritz turned to the Emperor. "I think we should get the houses to find a way to incentivize electric cars.. Especially for exports."

"I think I heard something about an electric sports car too", added Helios.

"They should meet EPA standards..." Fritz had a sheepish look on his face as he turned back to the Chancellor. "For the most part.. I mean, the Ghost is kind of... thirsty. But it's in the price range where the model won't cause a drain on an environment or much of a splash on the economy. Besides, I'm sure somewhere in Europe, they'll love fast cars. Gas is at a premium there though, hmm?"

The talks soon talked to the military. The Vangazi focused especially on talks of conflict in the East.

"We deal with an Eastern satellite of our own", said the Emperor.

Prince Fritz had opened his own small bottle of champagne and was cutting his waffles. "We have interests in the East. A former Soviet state turned progressive democracy provides us with several pieces of Eastern military equipment. You could gather that such a nation would draw Russia's ire."

The Emperor tapped Fritz on the shoulder, "Let's move fighters into Ukraine. An A-10 flight and an F-23 flight. Those are our top close air support and air to air fighters, Chancellor. The A-10 is made to hunt armor, or anything else on the ground. The F-23 will provide a stealthy, maneuverable threat that the enemy Air Force will have to consider."

"Would you also let us base strategic bombers deeper into Europe? Say like 700 miles from Ukraine?"

Finally talk got to food, since Fritz felt guilty. She mentioned she didn't have anything yet.

"Yes, please. Order something", Fritz said with a smile. "We've got a lot of business to work up. No use doing so on an empty stomach. Would you care for some Champagne?" His opened bottle had still been waiting, although the Emperor had already started a glass from his bottle.

Verndara Tent

Hoppy squinted suspiciously at the odd shaped cell phone, but said nothing in regards to it.
"Who would I be payin'? Is it all up front? Eh...don't matter. I'll have the money tomorrow. If we can do direct wire transfer, that'd be better."

They shook and Hoppy was satisfied. He got ready to head out and explore the rest of the grounds when he caught sight of the ridiculous graphics for this year's AVBF logo. He hadn't even paid attention up to this point. His whole body shook with spasms of laughter, and he bowled over. Then he straightened up a bit and was still cackling. He slapped the back of a nearby festival goer, launching him tumbling forward. The two beers in the luckless bystander's hands went flying all over the people in front of them.

The whole chain of events sent Hoppy Jensen into another spasm of laughter at the spectacle. His chuckles started to trail off as angry drenched fest attendees started to close in on him.

"Er...Uh oh. Better git ta churnin up dat dust. This is why I need armor." Hoppy turned and began to gather steam with pursuers hot on his heels.

Security Control Room

"Sir, I think you should see this."

The on duty CR officer, a Captain in the DGC, walked over to the Pine Park agent that was sitting at a bank of monitors. Another Pine Park agent, as well as a NESA agent, a Burgunden PD Detective and two other DGC soldiers manned other equipment in the control room, ready to vector in security patrols to where they may be needed. The room was actually not at the main security center at the north end of the grounds, but rather near the West gate, tucked behind some of the admin and box office.

"Trouble?"

"No sir, just a potential situation. VIPs."

"Ah...Ya." The Captain looked at the screen, which, through facial recognition, had pulled up both the visages and data on the Chancellor of Europa, and the Vangazi Emperor.
"I see. They're kind of exposed out there. Obviously by choice, but let's get a couple patrols out there to back up their security, just in case. Have them maintain a subtle distance. We can't risk having anything happen to two Veeps of that high profile on our territory."

"Yes, sir. On it."

Royal Imperial Main Stage

The crowd loved the Chrysalides set and were hollering for more, but the show must go on, and so the stage went empty as the crew began to set up for the next act, Timeline Tremors, who were headlining the Friday night musical lineup.
It was an elaborate set up for sure, and took all hands of the Event stage crew, as well as the Vangazi crew that had come along with the particular knowledge of how to set up for the back drop for the show. Not many in Neu Engollon, or even in other parts of Teremara, had heard of Timeline Tremors or knew what to expect other than the brief description in the Fest flyer, but there was still a bit of excitement and jockeying for spaces closer to the stage in order to take on the impending spectacle.

Verndara Emerald Tent
Having now finished speaking with Hoppy, Sekka got up from his lawn chair & went back to trying out more food, but before he could leave, Lyndon walked back into the tent. "What were you talking about with that man?" the Canopian asked, a look of mild curiosity on his face.

"So it seems, he wants to buy some of me armor," Sekka replied before taking a sip from his Emerald Wine, "Haven't heard of anyone wanting to buy my armor until now. Wonder why nobody I've met, aside from him, of course, has approached me about it, though." A momentary pause before he resumed. "Anyways, I'm going to go sample some more foods... I think I left off on..." Sekka checked his map & read off of it. "Tent number 17 before I went back. Time to go to tent number 16, then."

The two Thryllasians soon went their separate paths, Sekka going counter clockwise & Lyndon clockwise around the festival grounds. Arriving at the Euroflavor tent, Sekka would proceed to order quite literally one of everything on the menu, as though he was feeding more than just himself. Noticing the change of music with the Timeline Tremors, Sekka checked his triangular prism phone while waiting in line, his order not ready yet. "Where has the time gone by?" he quietly said to himself, "Already past 9PM! Must've fallen asleep between sampling food & Hoppy talking with me..."

"Well even if they don't meet them fully we can still compromise. We can modify vehicles that you import into Europe so that they meet EPA levels without you having to create new models." Bringing up the topic of eletric cars and EPA levels might have put off the Vangazi from making deals but it had to be done. The UNE promised to be a leader when it came to environemental protection and it wasn't going to stop.

The talks soon talked to the military and it seemed the two were keen on helping.

Although the leaders were eager to help, the chancellor had to be careful with what help she accepted. "I'm glad that you're happy to help us but we must be careful. Putting a large force of air vehicles and troops into Ukraine could spark even more conflict and potentially war with Russia. If the people of Ukraine sense that another war between the UNE and pro-Russian rebels might start again they could possibly leave the UNE and cause their nation to exposed to even more attacks."

"Would you also let us base strategic bombers deeper into Europe? Say like 700 miles from Ukraine?"

"Well it couldn't hurt to do that but I must remind you that our joint forces must be cautious when it comes to use of forces. Their is still a large amount of civilians that are around areas of recent combat." Talks about joint military forces continued for a while until the topic finally switched to food.

"Yes, please. Order something", Fritz said with a smile. "We've got a lot of business to work up. No use doing so on an empty stomach. Would you care for some Champagne?"

"Well it's a French champange so it must be good, please pour me a glass." After being poured a glass, Schulte went over the menu on the tablet. After going through it she decided on ordering a Vanissh meatball sub and some sliders.

The meeting continued and it looked like there would surely be trading and doing military training. Vangaziland was going to hold off on deploying military assets to the Ukraine border, so as not to start tension and to avoid a chain reaction of allies joining the opposing side. The generals would work out specifics, as the Royals did not often control military movements. There was a recent exception with Fritz signing the Khalifiyan conflict over to the New Khalifiyan Army.

Towards the end, Fritz said, "Chancellor. I'm sure you have much to do and see. What say you join me for the concert later. I'd love to catch 'The Timeline Tremors' with you. They gained a bit of a cult following. Ancient Egyptian music. You've got to check it out."

He waited for the Chancellor's response.
----Hours Later----

The Timeline Tremors started at 9:30 PM. They were closing the set, of all performers on opening day. The darkness would magnify the set. As the curtains lifted, the stage would take people to the heart of Ancient Egypt. In the background of the first group of songs was a brightly lit façade showing a scene by the Nile River. The sun was out in full form. There was a sparse group of palm trees and grasses on the shoreline, with a city's clay brick walls in the background.

A spotlight lit up a man playing an instrument. It was an ancient Egyptian arched harp called a djedjet. An accompanying musician played a theramin, a twangy, electric instrument with an eerie echo. The harp stroked a few keys, playing a rhythmic melody.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvDrl_z ... UO&index=5

The theramin player joined after the harp set the tone with it's billowy tunes. After another spotlight hit the second musician, the ambient lighting increased as rows of bulbs lit the stage in golden light. It was a prelude for dancers, who flowed in from both sides of the stage. They danced rhythmically and with articulate movements. This song was called 'Amarna' and was written in honor of an ancient Egyptian settlement. Some ancient Gazilians once lived in this town, which was founded in 1346 BC.

Fritz turned to Chancellor Schulte to see if she was enjoying the concert. He didn't speak so as not to interrupt, but just smiled and looked into her eyes... Gauging her reaction.

Having just sampled the drinks at McElhinney's Brewery, Sekka quickly jogged over to the stage, quickly chugging most of one of his purchased drinks while heading over. Once there, he stood near the back, albeit on a portable foot stool that he had, for whatever reason. As such, he would be able to be quickly noticed by anyone, & he would likewise be able to see anyone else, in particular seemingly using some sort of sign language to notify Lyndon (who was in the area) to come over, of which the Canopian complied. Once the brewer was there, Sekka set down another foot stool near himself.

"I see you have some drinks you purchased," Lyndon stated, gesturing towards Sekka's bundle of drinks, "Think I could sample them?"
"Course," came the demon's reply as he set down all but one of the drinks onto the floor, pouring the rest of the one he drank from into a glass-like cup, which he passed to Lyndon.
"Quite the flavor," he commented before reading out the drink's name, "'Weiss Weiss Baby' huh? Interesting name."

The meeting went surprisingly well as it seemed the Vangazi royals agreed to the requirements of the UNE. It continued for a little while until it seemed all three of the diplomats got tired of it and wanted to move on. Fritz looked at Schulte seeming as if he was going to ask her something, "Chancellor. I'm sure you have much to do and see. What say you join me for the concert later. I'd love to catch 'The Timeline Tremors' with you. They gained a bit of a cult following. Ancient Egyptian music. You've got to check it out." It was a nice offer to make and it was a lot better than doing nothing, after all the chancellor came to the festival to have fun. "I'd love to go see the concert" she responded.

As the two walked to the performance stage, Schulte noticed how lively the area still was. Even though it was getting dark, all the people around her seemed to have as much energy as they did hours earlier. It must've been nice since all the time spent with diplomatic tasks exhausted her when night came back at home. The two made it to the stage and found a space where they could clearly watch the performance. The curtains on the stage were lifted away and a spotlight shined on a man playing a stringed instrument. The desert like scenery reminded her much of ancient Egypt. The performers played their music with a calm and smooth melody. She loved the performance so far, mesmerized by the fluid movement of music. Schulte slightly looked over to Fritz and noticed that he was smiling at her. She made eye contact and stared for a second before slightly blushing, "I'm glad we could make it to this." she said as she turned back to the performance.

Emperor H. Vang arrived a little late to his homeland band's performance. He was waiting on line at Burgunden Breweries. Helios wasn't the type to try to cut the line because of his status. He actually met up with a B list celebrity, mostly known domestically. The two split ways after they finally ordered their drinks, as the actor was set to meet his wife. Helios spent about a hour traveling the grounds with the TV star.

Helios finally made his way to the concert. He carried a 64 oz. growler of Ferme Terre Saison, "Twenty dollars well spent", he said upon tasting it.

Now he settled alongside two individuals who looked dodgy, to say the least. Still, that didn't cause Helios to judge them. He moved a bit closer to the two, just sort of settling nearby. Not wanting to interrupt, he looked over to make eye contact and then nodded a simple greeting and an offer of a half smile. "Greetings, gents", he said calmly.
-----

Meanwhile Fritz and the Chancellor were enjoying the show from a closer vantage point. The first song went on, the melody playing, as digital palm trees swayed in the imaginary landscape's winds.

The Chancellor mentioned how glad she was about making the concert. Fritz added, "I'm glad I could watch this with you". His words were a bit more of a direct hint about how much he enjoyed his time with the Chancellor. He had enjoyed the negotiations and received an important briefing on the status of Europa.

The Ukraine situation would be one Vangaziland would monitor.

As the melody reached it's crescendo, it was sure to be ending soon.

More dancers began streaming in from the sides of the stage, until the floor was awash with colorful costumes, some glowing under the light or giving off iridescent reflections.. Each one was themed in Ancient Egyptian or Gazilian culture.

In moderate surprise, Sekka accidentally caused the dagger hidden in his armor to momentarily come out, the metal of it slightly reflecting the lights set up, & realizing that he may have accidentally shown that he had his dagger, he leapt backward in a flamboyant fashion, although he instead fell onto several layers of awfully conveniently placed tarp. "Apologies about Sekka there," Lyndon stated, offering his hand to his associate without turning around, "He's fearful of revealing his weaponry to those that aren't closely associated with him, in case they might panic... But yes, greetings." After saying this, the brewer would then bow his head slightly.

On the word panic, the Emperor let loose a deep belly laugh with bass loud enough to cause distortion in the ears of anyone standing too close. "Panic?" After the word, the Emperor let another laugh escape. "Don't apologize for him." Helios looked over at the person who seemed surprised by his presence. "Sorry to startle."

After a pause, he continued.

"It's fair enough to carry a dagger. It doesn't worry me." He turned his attention back to the stage and took a swig from his oversized mug of Neu Engollon beer.

"Ahh", he released. "Light and fresh... That's a drink."
The music continued in the background. A new song had started.

Meanwhile, Fritz turned to Chancellor Schulte.

"You'll love this song", he whispered, leaning closer to her ear.

The same musicians were on the theramin and harp. Now a third spotlight shone on a new arrival. It was him, the man everyone knew as a TV character. Nuhotep... And he was in full costume. He had the Ra tattoo on his eye. He wore the mage's robes he wore on the show. The same robes which deviated from modern society's portrayal of ancient Egypt.

The singer was tall with deep brown skin and a muscular figure. In the show, Nuhotep was an archmage in the Pharoah's Army. Now he sang the words of an ancient love song, based on lyrics found outside a sarcophagus, in a section of ancient Gazilian Egypt.

Image

His deep, but clear voice blended well with the other two instruments.

Fritz turned from the stage once more to see how the Chancellor was enjoying the show, glancing into her eyes.

Imagine a different voice from the singer in the video, using the attached pic as a reference for the IC singer's voice.

"Ah, good, good," Sekka said partially to himself, "Was praying, metaphorically speaking, that you wouldn't get into a panic." Afterwards, he would then take a sip from his vacuum flask of Emerald Wine. "Ah, by Sovereign's inferno, it's running out," He said, vigorously shaking the contents of his bottle, "I'll be right back, I need to refill this at my tent."

"Sekka, the event is about to end," Lyndon advised, "I do not think it necessary to refill it so late into the day."

"Ah, I'll keep the rest for tomorrow in a fridge," Sekka replied, emphasizing the word fridge, as though he was reminding himself to say that instead of something else, "Well, see you two in some twenty minutes, maybe more, maybe less, depending on if I get interrupted partway through." After saying this, Sekka then left & lightly jogged back to the Verndara Emerald Tent.

Federal Government Pavilion Box, Confederacy Park, Burgunden

“Well, that was certainly impressive. Like nothing I’ve ever seen…” Erica Toft said as she sat back in her plush chair. She had on a comfortable, yet fashionable outfit that might remind someone of ocean colors, blues and greens and pleasing patterns. A skirt over leggings and a matching very light blue open button sweater for the chill as the night wore on and the day’s heat faded.

“I agree, sis. Definitely lived up to the hype. We have had a wide range of performers up on that stage over the years, but I think the Tremors outdid many tonight.” Her brother David replied to his sister, but was also talking demonstratively to the collected government ministers in the surrounding chairs. He had on a red polo shirt with a modestly sized Terembev logo on it over the right breast. Jeans and comfortable walking shoes. They were both old hats at Festival wear that wasn’t too rugged and somewhat professional, but very easy to spend the day in.

The Timeline Tremors, a Vannish ancient folk/performance art group, had just finished up on the main stage and the Toft siblings and many Ministers that had flown up from the capital, Telleursville, to attend the opening night of the Festival, were up in the government’s large reserved pavilion box, looking out over the stunned audience below that was just shaking off their mesmerization, post performance. A lot of the families of the ministers were down there mingling in, if not in their own private boxes. Erica’s daughter, Abrina, was down there mingling, along with her and David’s mother.

“Every year you all outdo yourselves in bringing in the best talent and the best vendors and brewers from around the multiverse.” Minister of Finance Plemarche leaned forward and over to David and Erica.

“Thank you, Dietfried. We try. A lot of credit goes to Rosette there.” David indicated Minister Kozic, the Minister of Tourism and Culture.
“Maybe next year, we’ll give it all over to her Ministry and I can get back to focusing on Terembev for most of the year.”

Kozic lifted her glass in salute.
“We’re certainly ready to take the full reins. Just say the word. I have to think at this point you all are doing it just for the bragging rights and promotional value...If we’re being honest.”

David shrugged, looking at his sister, who didn’t seem to want to respond, laying back in her chair and sipping her Canopian Sorrow Drowner Rum from Verndara Emerald Trading Company, so he continued on.
“By all means, Rosette, I would expect nothing less than your full honesty. Sure, there’s the promotional aspect. I won’t deny we enjoy the international prestige and PR for Terembev and Burgunden Breus. I think also it’s just ingrained within the Toft family to run the AVBF now. It would be kind of tough to disentangle ourselves from it at this point, but it could be done.”

François Schiendl, the Minister of Justice joined in,
“They are the public face of Neu Engollon in many aspects, representing Neu Engollian culture around the world. I think even if it was completely run by the Cultural Ministry, people would still associate it with BB...and Terembev.”

It was David and Erica’s turn to salute with their beverage glasses.

Erica did a quick turn around to make sure of the occupants of the box, then focused back on Schiendl.
“I want to say, Minister, that your department, along with NESA and the DGC, did a magnificent job with security this year. I know it might have been...extra difficult.”

François nodded, contemplative.
“At some point we may have to pay the piper for the over reach we did in silencing certain political groups. The fanaticism and extremism is getting out of hand lately. It’s unbecoming of Neu Engollians and we won’t stand for it. It was better to nip things in the bud and shut them down…” He was dancing around directly referencing the GCA (God’s Confederate Army) that had been troublesome over the past couple years. The domestic group took major influence from the Glisandian GGA/Holy Domain, a fanatical extremist terror group on the other side of Teremara. So far they hadn’t been directly linked to any major terror incidents in the Confederacy, but it might only be a matter of time. Even more disturbing was the uber-religious group’s rising popularity in a nation that was very secular and had a large segment that prided itself on atheistic qualities.

“...We will just have to deal with the legal ramifications later, but such is the nature of national security.”

“Was it really that critical that we stomp on civil rights?” Minister Plemarche inquired.

“Oh it was. We had informants...lots of separate sources...that were confirming that the GCA and several related groups were planning something big around the Festival. We had to be proactive, rather than waiting for something terrible to happen and reacting to it. You have to stay ahead of these things…”

Erica attempted to change the subject, lest they create fodder for a future debate in the Federal Assembly.

“Where’s Aldric?”
She was referring to Aldric Servino, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Kozic waved out towards the crowd down below,
“Oh, he’s out looking to score diplomatic points with the Chancellor of Europa and the Vannish Emperor who are out down there somewhere in the masses, possibly canoodling with each other. There’s so many out there...VIPs, I mean.”

David nodded.
“There are every year, I think. To think of all the missed opportunities of informal diplomacy every year at the Fest. Not to mention, industry networking opportunities...”

Lots of mumbled and grunted agreement followed, but no clear verbal affirmations.

Plemarche yawned.
“Well, it’s getting late, I might catch the bus back home.”

By ‘bus’, they all knew he meant what was familiarly called the ‘Shuttle Bus’, but in reality was a Federal government plane that took officials to and fro from Burgunden to Telleursville International airports, or vice versa, on a twice daily basis. Burgunden was the center of industry and the largest population by far in the Confederacy, holding nearly a third of its citizens. Several bureaucrats found it essential to have to travel to Burgunden on business on a frequent basis. Because of the large amount of important government personnel usually aboard the luxury jet, it was always accompanied by an escort flight from rotating NEDAF squadrons.

Erica let out a derisive laugh.
“When are they going to just go ahead and move the capital up here? It’s long overdue.”

The Ministers all laughed, somewhat in sympathy, somewhat in the ridiculousness of the suggestion.

“Not anytime in our lifetimes.”
Telleursville had been the traditional capital for centuries and a lot of government institutions were entrenched there. It was also the domain of mainly the Tell family, one of the two most influential families in the Confederacy. The Toft family, who called the Burgunden metro area home, being the other. The debate about moving the capital north was an ongoing ad-nauseum debate that had been raging for almost as long as the two families had been vying for political and industrial power in the nation. (It was more of a friendly rivalry as they were on good terms and there was even some intermarriage between the two clans.) There was a smaller segment that were all for moving to Panoli, the southernmost city and major international sea port of the nation. No one family was central in that movement, but a lot of the newer jetset and ‘new money’ entrepreneur families that had benefited within the last two centuries of the Confederacy taking over the Panoli area that was actually a sprawling amalgamation of smaller interlocked former Gaulic and Roman towns like Monaco, Nice, Menton and the outskirts of San Remo.

“Probably not.” Erica acknowledged as she downed the rest of her drink. She was quite tipsy now.
“Wharz our runner?”

“Ya, I dunno.”

They continued to talk. Meanwhile, it was just minutes away from the announcements of the first wave of judged beverages that would earn medals for the entrants. The festival would wind down over the next few hours after this wonderful climax, but for the die-hards that waited until the plug was finally pulled on the DJ stage equipment that would keep them dancing. Then security would have to start forcibly evicting the last stragglers of the early morning, off the park grounds, and out into the greater city - at least until gates opened again the next late morning. There were still two more days of festivities to be had, if one could believe it. Not all had the stamina, tolerance and the stomach to last so long.

The Tremors had amazed everyone in the crowd. Their unique presence of music was unlike anything Schulte had ever seen. Going to a concert like this reminded her of her childhood, when she was free from her restraints of politics.

"You'll love this song", Fritz whispered in her ear. She couldn't imagine what the next song would be. This was the first time she had ever listened to this group's music, and she couldn't wait to hear the next song.

A blast of light suddenly shined on a new singer on the stage. There was chatter among the crowd about this singer that appeared. It seemed that many knew who this man was but he was totally unknown to her. He was dressed up with traditional Egyptian clothes and even ancient-like body paintings. The musicians started to play their instruments with a soft and elegant tone, mesmerizing everyone in the crowd once more.

As the show went on the crowd kept quiet, watching the Tremors play their amazing music. Sadly the performance had to come to an end. Coming down to the concert with Fritz was a great idea. Schulte had a wonderful time watching the Tremors perform some amazing music.

As people were being escorted out of the stage area Schulte turned to Fritz, "I have to thank you for bringing me here. It's been so long since I've been to any concert."

Fritz met the Chancellor's gaze with warm eyes. "Yes, it was such a nice concert. I guess that's what festivals are for", he said before turning back to look at the stage once again. The Tremors played the last set of opening night, with what seemed like an excellent cap performance. The Prince was glad his countrymen were received so well.

"Say", Fritz said. "Why don't we grab a drink from Royal Imperial Brewery and watch the judging event?" It had been a busy day, but a productive one, with ties finally setting between Vangaziland and Europa.

He added, "I enjoyed watching that with you."

Meanwhile, the Tremors had left the stage and the work crew was packing up the group's personal equipment.

The boy that rises out of the tarp later on is similar to, albeit with the replacement traits later mentioned (white lab coat, purple gloves, lab goggles, & about four feet high). In addition, he has a habit of speaking in a different language based on his emotions, & while I know limited French & Vietnamese, most of his foreign dialogue will not be written out & language changes will be underlined.

Sekka would come back, while the Tremors were playing their final song, hardly exhausted & with his vacuum flask refilled with his Emerald Wine. "Oh, looks like they're about finished," he stated, getting back onto the foot stool near Lyndon to reacquire a vantage point, "But still, I can stick around. Not quite over yet."

"Ah yes, they will be judging mead today, among other things," Lyndon commented, reading from a schedule that he apparently found somewhere, "Same with beer, which means two of Canopia's drinks shall be judged today. Hopefully they might have as great success as they do back in the Thryllasian Region... I can hardly wait for the results & to find out whose drinks in particular I should sample tomorrow."

"Which reminds me, I'm gettin' a tad hungry," Sekka commented as he somehow pulled out some sort of dried venison, of which he proceeded to shove entirely into his mouth — & to those observant enough, they would notice that his teeth seemed greatly sharpened, with his gape also noticeably above average. To anyone that did not know his past, they might think that his strange habits & traits might be from a past as a freakshow in some exotic circus in a remote region of the world.

Sekka would suddenly place his hand on his temple, although it was clear it was not as though in pain. "Ah, hold on," he said before jumping off of the foot stool back onto the tarp behind him, causing a voice to groan out a very simple "ow" before Sekka stepped off, causing someone rather short to come out of the mass.

Unfortunately for whoever was hiding in there, they found themselves rather trapped in the tarp.

"Bah! Deities!" the voice in the tarp would say before continuing in a variety of expletives in Russian, German & Polish before then angrily asking Sekka a question in Russian. After a few more moments of struggle, a boy about four feet high in a white lab coat, purple gloves, & lab goggles came out of the tarp, dragging out some sort of huge wrench from the tarpaulin as well.
"Mac, I thought you wanted to come by tomorrow morning," Sekka said with his hands on his hips for whatever reason, "Plus how did you even get here so fast?"

A reply came in Vietnamese before Sekka lightly struck him over the head, causing Mac to rub the impact spot before responding in Russian. In response, Sekka lightly hit him on the head again, prompting the boy to rub the spot again & continue talking, albeit changing back to Vietnamese.

"It's time to stop with the references, Mac!" Sekka groaned out, facepalming & shaking his head. Once more, the boy gave a response in Vietnamese.

Another light hit on the head silence Mac's objections — likely in response to yet another excuse to mention a song by Mac. "Mon dieu, ce n'est pas nécessaire," came the boy's reply as he rubbed his head before he continued speaking, albeit in Vietnamese, although his tone was clearly sarcastic.

"For someone of your capabilities, it's ridiculous how helpless you always pretend to be," Sekka replied, facepalming once more. Mac would then respond in Vietnamese before Sekka told him to "just enjoy the bloody show." However, Sekka was anticipating some reaction out of those nearby from seemingly hitting some poor child who didn't seem to know English well. It would likely be rather difficult to explain his way out of that sort of situation.

Final few hours of Friday, 1st Festival Day, Before gate closing

Aldric Servino, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Confederacy, stopped, somewhat confused as to the whereabouts of his targets. He pulled out his cell phone and dialed the security office.

"Ya, it's me...Aldric. Where are they now? They're not by the stage."

"Yes, Minister Servino. They have headed back to the Royal Imperial tent."

"Oh, they did? Well, good. Thank you."
Without any further words, Servino cut the connection and tucked the phone back into his pocket.
He walked as quick as he could through the crowds to get to the Royal Imperial Brewery's tent. managing to make it in just over 5 minutes in so many meters. He finally made it to the tent, introducing himself to one of the staff over the main counter, flashing his government credentials for good measure. They didn't know him from any other average Jean in the crowd. He'd heard a North American once say 'didn't know him from Adam', which didn't make any sense to him, but probably meant about the same.
"Yes, I'm the Neu Engollian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aldric Servino. If I could, I'd like to speak to, well..." He didn't want to announce it in front of the crowd in the front bar area,
"...Well, the important person in the back and his guest. You know who I mean. If they can't be bothered, then if you could just pass along a request from me that I be able to speak with them later this evening...or tomorrow..."

The First Judging Announcement

Image

Within twenty minutes of the Timeline Tremors leaving the Main Stage, the announcement came over the PA system. The judging was done for the first night and the first batch of categories of beers had been rated. As David Toft took the Main Stage to make the announcements, staff were making the rounds and posting the official rating sheets up on special boards around the Park grounds. Only after David had finished the announcement, would it be posted to the website for the world to see, getting word outside of Confederacy Park. The medals had become a big deal in the brewing world, and the Fest organizers knew it.

David continued on down the list, eliciting cheers, gasps, whooting and in some corners, some disappointed grumbling.
"...Imperial Honey Brew, with a score of 15.52, takes the gold for Meads. Congrats to Royal Imperial! Verndara Emerald Trading's Canopian Hunig for the silver, coming in at a close 15.34, with Lake Isle Distillery's Original Sack Mead coming in with the bronze at 14.82...Once again, in Scotch Ales, a strong repeat winner in Golfer's Delight from Omholt's for gold. 16.18...Once again, Omholt's of Schwartzgarten, taking a gold in Experimentals with their Sunflower Sour. A shockingly strong 16.12. Well done again. I know we have our friendly rivalry, but I am so glad to see a fellow Neu Engollian breuerie doing so well..."

It brought some awkward glances as the Omholt's crew stood defiant near where their tent was, burning holes into Toft as he stood up on the center of that big stage, his image projected up onto plasma screens. Every year, Omholt's were given the tent closest to the port-a-loos and with the worst sight of the stage and everyone knew it was far from accidental or shortsightedness on the part of the main organizers, Burgunden Breueries. A clear message was sent, but BB had too much integrity to ever think of trying to influence or bribe the judges, and so, there were a few prize beers that Omholt's took their medals in every year.

"So...Burgunden Breus wins the Lambic with the multi award winning Berry Lambic. Took it with a 15.22...Porters - We had McIlhennys Harry Porter grabbing the gold with a 15.71. Spiced brews, we see Royal Imperial taking it with their Royal Cinnamon Horchata, nailing that gold with a high margin with a 16.78 from the judges averaged score....Burgunden Breus Gertner's for gold with their Chai Cider, 16.06. Royal Imperial takes the silver with their Apple Black at a close 15.91... "

David rattled on the last couple categories and wrapped it up, thanking everyone for their participation in the Fest, or simply attending. People were very excited for the next night's judging, but also the last bit of crowd that would stick around after the judging and bands were there to get their dance on, and dance they did.
Finally, the last few attendees were escorted out the gates, where they could find bars that went until 5 am, or pour themselves to bed. The Fest and tent staff and some entertainers were left. Some cleaned up and went home to rest for the next day, some stuck around a bit longer to commiserate or celebrate with their co-workers, imbibing the last of the bottles and kegs of what had been served all day to the patrons. Two more days were still to come for the AVBF.

The staff member at the counter smiled warmly, trained in advance to deal with the high profile guests the event would bring. The workers were interns from Overglade University's Hospitality Management program. Many were trying out for embassy staff positions, hoping to serve politicians and Royals in a full time position.

"Right away sir. He shouldn't take long." The young man went to the side, told his manager who went to relay the message. It took a few minutes, longer than the Vangazi would have hoped, but soon the tall pair stepped out from around the booth.

"You must be Minister Servino", said the Emperor right away locking onto the individual. He could tell by the style of dress. Of course, both Vangazi looked him and the other politicians up before arriving at such a high profile event.

The pair walked up and shook hands with the minister. "Of course we'd have time. We were just about to head to the judging.. What's on your mind?"

Fritz chimed in with, "We should get a meeting in. Let's call Chancellor Schulte, shall we? Beer diplomacy, anyone?"
