Richardson University Governors @ Cold Hill Buffalo

Once again, it's Hannes Klug with you here, bringing you the second matchup of Cold Hill and Richardson University in the NSCF! Richardson has come into this game as, currently, the number one team in the Big Eight Conference, with Mar Sara Tech falling earlier today against the now 4-4 University of Paulo. Both Richardson and Mar Sara were 6-1 coming out of last week, just as Cold Hill and Paulo were 3-4. Parallels? Perhaps. But if there is a deciding factor in this game, it will be the absence of QB John Garrett, who, officially, was listed as a game-time decision, and has been cleared, technically, but Richard Steinheil, the Governors' head coach, stated that he would only be played if absolutely necessary.

Despite the Buffalo's early struggles, primarily with younger players freelancing, causing blown coverage and turnovers, they have pulled themselves to a respectable 3-4 record. On the other hand, if Richardson can pull off a win, all they have to do is win out to take the Conference Championship from the Raiders, whom have remained ahead of them all season long.

That won't be easy, however. Despite their success, it has largely been the Governor defense carrying them throughout this season, having allowed an impressive 8.5 points per game. Their offense, however, particularly without quarterback John Garrett, has been stagnant, now barely topping fifteen points a game, with multiple turnovers in each contest that Barron Dawson, their backup QB, has started in.

Their biggest chance, however, is an explosive performance from Johnny Farmer, their star tight end, who has been phenomenal this season, dominating as a pass catcher,
blocker, and rusher, as a run stuffing-end and as a run blocking tight end. He's been unstoppable. If they can win this one, it will be on his back. And the Buffalo look ready to receive this kick, with senior speedster Nico Bahr ready to run this one back.

It was a very good, but not a great, return that saw Thorn Davis under center on the forty one yard line, fifty nine yards to drive down to the end zone. And he had no intention of coming out cold, as he had done early in the season. No, he wanted to dominate this one. He took the snap, dropping back as the offensive line quickly planted its feet in the dirt, switching from a pass-set to a run blocking mentality as he handed the ball off to Carlson Katterfield, who zipped through the hole, looking for a big gain, only for ultra-athletic two way player Johnny Farmer to drag him down by the thigh boards after an eight yard gain, managing to catch up only when Katterfield juked out linebacker Paul Braunn.

The Buffalo haven't been much of a running team this season, preferring to use their speed backs, the Katterfield brothers, as receiving mismatches, but both have provided a supplementary run threat, even if neither can quite qualify as a power runner. But it looks like they're dropping into an I formation, in an attempt to run right up the throat of Richardson. Davis hands it off...and Katterfield is dropped by Kevin Gerhart! The senior nose tackle for the Governors dropped him hard there, simply extending an arm and letting the back run straight into him for a loss! Gerhart has been a consistent force against the run game all year, as well as the team's second best pass rusher. That's one came as a surprise to no one.

Davis, cursing under his breath, took the next play call, a simple jump-ball, down the field play that was meant to take advantage of Jarrett Hauptmann's height against corner Davon Stovall, whom had yet to allow a reception on the year. He took this snap in the shotgun, watching Hauptmann shed the press coverage with ease. He had a step on Stovall, and looked wide open.

Stepping into the throw, Thorn Davis hurled it downfield, high in the air, a dime, in every sense of the word.

Hauptmann has stud corner Stovall beat, and badly! Davis sees him and goes deep, this could be six! Stovall's too far back, but he goes up to try and bat it awa-NO! Look at that, ladies and gentlemen! I don't know if human bodies are made to bend like that, but Stovall went vertical, grabbed onto the ball, and managed to tap one foot down after Hauptmann slammed him out of bounds! What! A! PLAY! That will give the Governors the ball at the twenty nine, with Thorn Davis trying to figure out what just happened! Wow! The Governors look to be trying to get a play off, and they'll go deep, even with Barron Dawson under center, too build off their momentum! Dawson slings it for Javier Gilmore, and the wideout snags it! He's going, twenty five-twenty, fifteen, ten, five, touchdown, Governors! In four plays from scrimmage, Richardson has taken the le-wait, there's a flag on the field. Holding, against the offense. Richard Steinheil is rubbing his face in frustration as the play comes back, but raising a finger to the air, spinning it. He's signalling to run it again! Wow! Cold Hill appear's to have anticipated this, and has dropped into a dime formation. Dawson drops again, looks for Gilmore, looking, looking, pressure from Angelo Gordon, but Dawson will sidestep-no! Gordon brings his arm forward in what looks like a punch, crook of his elbow meeting Dawson's wrist, and the ball goes flying backwards! it looks like a pass straight into Gordon's hands, and he'll take it back to the end zone for a Buffalo touchdown! Angelo Gordon, staying dominant against this team.

Angelo Gordon didn't even realize it when the official took the ball, glaring back at the stunned Governors offense with a wicked grin.

That's right. You're in our house now. You've never taken us on here. And you'll regret agreeing to for the next ten years.

The game was a defensive one, in its entirety, with six sacks from Richardson, and four from Cold Hill, whom also forced two turnovers to Richardson's one.

In the fourth quarter, however, Richard Steinheil grabbed Barron Dawson by the jersey before he ran out on to the field. "I can't take it anymore. John, can you go?"

John Garrett, who'd been trying to coach up Dawson all game, nodded, eyes immediately going from the defeated look of a man who had lost control of his fate to one of a leader who had every confidence in his ability to turn this one around. "Yeah. I'm good."

"I'll try and stick to runs and short passes. Don't get hit. Don't scramble. None of that toughness everyone loves, I want a healthy quarterback, but we need this one, badly."

"Done and done."

After taking the field, John Garrett has completed his first six pass attempts, shredding this Cold Hill defense, but the clock is running low on third and one. They need a big play. Farmboy appears to be calling an audible, and drops into the shotgun. Takes the snap, and Javier Gilmore is zipping by on a streak, no, a post. And Garrett finds him for forty three yards! Wow! That's how you move a ball! John Garrett was aware of the shifting pocket, stepping to avoid defenders, and when he knew Javier would come open, he barely even looked, fitting the ball into a tight window, wow. At the seventeen yard line, now, and John Garrett will drop back, fires over the middle, touchdown! Johnny Farmer hauls in a score after Barron Dawson's meager attempts at passing caused him to fail to score in the last two outings! What a drive by John Garrett! Ninety four yards and a score on eight straight completion! And the Governors might just have a shot to come back in this game! John Garrett's arms are out wide,
as if asking for a challenge, what a series from him!

Thorn Davis, getting the ball back, wasn't really worried yet. They were still up fourteen to seven, there was nothing to be scared of. He'd scored twice, and who was to say he wouldn't do so again, even if they ran the clock out. On the first play, he took a three step drop, looked, and hit Carl Amerson on a quick slant for six yards. The next, for a first down, Jabari McNair for twelve. The next play, a handoff to Caleb Katterfield, did not go so well.

He was immediately hit by Kevin Gerhart, but spun around the massive man's tackle, only for Johnny Farmer to meet him. But instead of going for him, the tight end went straight for the ball, looping his arm into Katterfield's and tearing it out just before the referee whistled for a dead ball.

In shock, Thorn Davis went for the ball, and managed to bring down a stumbling Farmer, but now, the game was in the hands of a defense that had just been embarrassed, a defense with only forty five yards of field to make a stand.

My god! Johnny Farmer, with a forced turnover, two sacks, and a touchdown now in this one! I told you, ladies and gentlemen, if the Governors win this one, he will be their team's savior.

John Garrett will drop back again, they aren't even feigning a run game at this point. Angelo Gordon, coming off the edge again, and he will be sacked! Gordon, running straight through blocker Melvin Strong, gets his second of the night, and John Garrett is writhing in pain, a hand on his back. This might have cost him his season, even as Gordon gets up with a roar.

"Shit! John! John! Come on man, please be okay!" Farmer was on a knee next to his teammate, who was hyperventilating, his entire body on fire. But when Richardson's trainer came to him, he opened his eyes, growling and waving him off the field.

"God dammit!" Farmer gasped, forcing himself to his feet, half bent over and trying to slow his breathing, "Oh my god, fuck!"

"John, it's done, you can-"

"Shotgun Max Protect, X Post, Z Slant, Y go," the quarterback managed to get out, sending Dylan Tweed off the field to relay the information to Richard Steinheil, fire in the quarterback's eyes, now, "We're winning this game, one way or another! Now get out here, we have six damn minutes to move fifty yards!"

He grabbed Johnny Farmer by the front of his jersey, gritting his teeth against the pain, "This is going to you, no matter what. Larry should draw the backers on the slant, and hopefully at least one safety will go to Javier on a deep post. Just run straight to the end zone, and I'll hit you, alright?"

The two stood in silence for a moment as the playclock ran down before Farmer nodded, adopting that same determination in his own demeanor. "A deep ball? I don't think we missed a hook up on that for four straight years."

John Garrett is going to stay on the field, obviously in intense pain! Wow! It appears that he called the play himself, too. If he can get his boys to the end zone, then this is a tie ballgame, ladies and gentlemen! He takes the snap, and the seven-man protection should be able to keep him clean, Alexander Ethridge Poe at fullback to take on Angelo Gordon's rush. Johnny Farmer is deep, three guys on him, and John Garrett will go right to his man! It's a mistake, triple coverage, there's no way he comes down with this one. At the one, all four men stop, and safety Marcell Salley goes up and takes it for an inter-no! Johnny Farmer rips it from his grasp before he hits the ground and lands on his feet! Salley falls on his back while the other two defenders try and drag him down! Klara North, female freshman corner, is thrown off! Linebacker Jakeem Butler is holding on, and Farmer spins, tossing him over his shoulder while Butler still holds on, slamming the backer into the dirt and stumbling into the end zone! And that puts us at a 13-14, an extra point away from this one being all tied up!"

All three of the Cold Hill defenders lay in the dirt, trying to figure out what was happening. Klara North had learned to take some hits, but she generally shied away from contact. Farmer simply tossing her aside with his arm, that had been devastating, and she nursed a shoulder while her teammates recovered in their own right, Jakeem Butler trying to get his breath back and Marcell Salley forcing himself to his feet.

Johnny Farmer, meanwhile, just panted, heaving. This game wasn't over. He still had defense to play.

In the fourth quarter, fourteen points, now, from Richardson to tie it up! Johnny Farmer has put on a spectacular display, as has quarterback John Garrett, nine for nine for well over a hundred yards and a pair of touchdowns! Can the Buffalo answer, or will they stall out after having the breath taken from their lungs in the last few minutes of this one!?

Of course, even with such an offensive explosion in the fourth, it just couldn't be that easy.

Thorn Davis dropped back on the next play, and the next few were a series of quick-hitting passes, their run game, the few times they tried on the drive, only losing yards thanks to Kevin Gerhart.

Eventually, however, the Buffalo forced their way to the fifteen, their crowd going wild, even if their own team was on offense, under the lights. Davis, once again, dropped back, but looked down to the rush when he saw massive freshman OL Kevin Eakin literally be bowled over, Kevin Gerhart coming off the edge, hopping right over him, and hammering into the passer for a sack. The ball came out on the hit, bouncing its way fifteen yards back, and both teams went after it in a frenzy, but Jabari McNair, in an amazing effort, managed to dive under the pile, taking a good few hits while doing so, and in doing so managed to retain possession, now on third and fourteen.

They were well out of field goal range for even some professional Ranorian kickers at 44 yards, and Thorn Davis knew he had to make a play now, in the clutch, the lights of the stadium gleaming off his silver helmet and highlights of his now-stained jersey.

Thorn Davis looks to pass, dropping back, and goes to throw, no, he pulls it back, no one's open downfield, and Emmanuel Miller is on him! The six foot nine, redshirt freshman! But Davis throws him off and goes! He's off, charging down the sideline, and no one's going to stop him, Touuuchdooooown Buffaloooo! Thirteen seconds left on the clock. That one very well may have clinched this one. Wait, Cold Hill is going to go for two points! And they'll fake a handoff to Caleb Katterfield, Carlson coming from the side to take it, and he'll be tackled, no, he didn't have the ball either! It's freshman fullback Jordan Jose on the score up the middle! And the Buffalo are up by eight!"

Javier Gilmore, on the five to take the kick, was trying to stop his hands from shaking. If he could make this play, he could be practically guaranteed an RFL roster spot, even if he was only a return man.

And, even better, he could help his guys get a second straight Conference Championship in what was turning out to be a disappointing season for him.

The ball went up, and his hands stopped shaking as he glanced down to see the coverage, a tiny hole slowly appearing.

Gotcha.

He looked up just in time to take the kick just inside the end zone, and he was off, the fastest player in Ranorian football put the afterburners on, blasting through the first line, two men back to make sure he didn't get to the end zone, strangely.

He made the kicker miss with ease, a simple juke at his own forty, and appeared to have gotten the score, but didn't have time to put another move on Angelo Gordon, who was on special teams, again, for this exact reason, Cold Hill's defensive anchor making a second TD saving tackle against Gilmore this season.

He'd returned it forty two yards in seven seconds, a good deal of that time coming from the actual tackle.

That gave them six to score one more time.

John Garrett took the play, one not too dissimilar from the one they'd scored on the last drive.

He lined up, fighting the fire that threatened to take away his will to keep fighting, and have his cadence.

He took the snap, looking straight downfield.

Five...

John Garrett locked in on his man, knowing that only one guy could be trusted to make this play.

Four...

He pulled back, the pass on its way an instant later.

Three...

Johnny Farmer looked into the air, the ball on its way, and Angelo Gordon in coverage on him along with Marcell Salley.

Two...

He made it to the five, the two coverage guys ready to prevent the play, knowing their assignments. Salley was to go for the ball. Gordon was to tackle Farmer whether he caught the pass or not.

One...

Farmer out-muscled Marcell Salley, the safety once again falling to the ground as the tight end turned up field.

This will be it! The clock has hit four zeroes!

He initially managed to get some separation from Gordon, but the athletic freak leapt out, grabbing onto his legs and pulling him down. The two tussled for a bit, Johnny Farmer dragging him a couple yards before he started to fall, reaching the ball out.

Is it in!?

The ball, and his knees, hit the dirt.

No! He's down at the one! Buffalo win! The Cold Hill Buffalo have won it in a thriller! Unbelievable! The Buffalo have taken the game, and possibly the Conference Title,
from Richardson in a classic, a heart breaker, really! What an unbelievable show from both of these teams tonight, a performance where stars shone and mainstays fought with all their hearts! Appreciate the war that both of these Ranorian schools just fought through here in Cold Hill, wow! What! A! Game! Despite John Garrett coming in and completing ten straight passes, through injury, for over two hundred yards and a pair of scores, despite Johnny Farmer's six catch, one hundred and thirty yard, two touchdown, two sack, nine tackle explosion, it just wasn't enough! Cold Hill has dealt a devastating blow to Richardson's playoff, and championship, hopes.

John Garrett didn't even hear the crowd cheering, on all fours with his head down, body wracked with pain. He had done everything in his power to win that game...and somehow, they had lost, and possibly lost a shot at the playoffs with this loss.

It wasn't enough...

I wasn't good enough.

Johnny Farmer, who hadn't gotten up yet, screamed something incoherent, slamming his fist into the turf, rubber pellet's flying into the air while Cold Hill's players swarmed together, jumping and dancing in the middle of the field.

What the hell do I have to do!? He punched the ground once again, the adrenaline of the game now fading away, his body completely exhausted after the performance he had put on, even if it was in vain.

They had questions to answer on both sides of the ball after that game.

But first?

When would they have their quarterback again?

The Vanderleigh Saga

Chapter Six

Lindon, 1903

There came a time when there was a need to step out of the safe boundaries to follow a plan that would make or break. A time when staying in the safe zone would only result in a loss, and risks were needed to win a battle. That was the kind of situation that Jacob Van Der Lay, Reuben Muir, and their merry group of rebels faced as they made their way into Lindon with the goal of striking the Nepharim occupation of Gallia at its very heart, with the hopes of sparking a rebellion that the overextended empire wouldn’t be able to counter. The plan was a strikingly simple one, really. A very simple misdirection, but the simplicity also made sure that there was a chance of the enemy figuring it out and putting a stop to it quickly.

The plan started with a boat and some cannons. More particularly, the North Gallian ship known as the Loon. Formerly a Quebecois military ship, now repossessed by the rebellion and flying the green and white flag of the unified Gallia movement, along with a black pirate flag indicating that they were hostile to the foreign merchant vessels that often prowled the waters off of Lindon and off of the other coastal cities like Lismere. “How long until we’re in range?” asked Jacob, showing up on the top deck and taking a quick walk around, to see how the progress was going.

“At the current pace, we’ll be ready to open fire in less than ten minutes,” replied the captain of the ship, the man known as Kellen Jarvey, who had been roped into helping by Lord Muir, who knew the man because of his South Gallian rebel connections. That was the plan. To open fire on Fort Lindon from the sea, getting the attention of the Nepharim garrison and drawing their attention. If their attention was on the walls and on the sea, they would miss the true threat coming from the other end, the one that was small and swift. Really, the real threat was just a few rebels in Nepharim colors, who would slip inside.

Jacob nodded, and looked at the fort, where there were already a few soldiers on the wall who were pointing them out. “And if we run into Nepharim ships? I doubt they’ll just let us fire on the fort with a Quebecois battleship without doing anything-”

“What ships? Patrol boats? We’ve timed this so the big ones aren’t here at the moment. And by the time they bother coming back from their other assignments, we’re going to be out of here. Besides… We’re not here for a pitched fight. We’re here to distract and only to distract. Well, and to do a bit of damage with these big guns if we can.”

It wasn’t long before one of the navigators pointed out how close they were to Fort Lindon. “We’re in range for most of the guns!” he shouted, and the ship stopped shortly after, as Kellen signalled for them to sit still and turn slightly for a better angle. By now, the soldiers definitely were taking note of them, as Jacob could see when he raised his binoculars and looked at the fort’s towers and walls. That was good. The more attention on the water, the better the chances were that the occupation missed the intruders heading through the breach in the other side.

“Aim!” shouted one of the sailors in charge of the guns. “Reeeaaaddddyyyyy…” he added, holding a hand in the air to gesture that it wasn’t quite time to fire yet. The rest of the crew were standing around and watching, and in that moment, as the ship’s engines were turned off and the anchor was the only thing keeping it from drifting, the place was eerily silent. Jacob could’ve sworn that he also heard the soldiers from across the water shouting, pointing out the threat. They were waiting until all of the cannons were loaded, and when they were, the artillery officer returned to the middle of the deck. “FIRE!”

Suddenly, the air was filled with the smell of fire, and smoke blew back from the cannons and turned the visibility in the area to zero. The guns were long ones, and there was a large kickback to them. It would take some time to reload them again, and the artillery officer was shouting for the crew to scramble to do that. Jacob, or anyone else for that matter, couldn’t tell if they’d scored a hit or not with any of their shots. The smoke was too thick, and it was clearly too slowly. But that wasn’t important. What was important was their distraction getting the attention of the army within the fort.

Because that meant the first part in their daring plan was actually working.

New West Gallia, Present Day

It was a 10-10 game at War Memorial Stadium, as the second chapter of a new rivalry took the Lindon Tech Aggies to New West Gallia, where they’d face the Military Academy’s Chevaliers. Lukas Machado had rushed for the only touchdown for the visitors in the second quarter, while the third had seen his counterpart on the other side, Finley Hasson, had dove over the pile to tie the game up at 10-10 near the end of the third quarter. Now, they were going into the fourth, and both running games were giving way to more and more passes, as both teams looked for a fast game winning drive.

And after the Tevin Vanderleigh drama, no team wanted to lose this matchup. The Aggies didn’t want to drop a game right after the controversy about their team came out, and the Military Academy didn’t want to lose to the team that had been named in that controversy. Especially when both teams were outfitted by Smoke Sports, but only one of them had been named in the investigation. Lindon Tech was the dirty one, the Military Academy’s clean reputation had come out in tact, and their second clash of the season came at the perfect time because of that.

There were seven minutes left in the game, and Ben Moreman called his team into the huddle. “We’re the ones with more experience in this and we’re the ones with more stamina and endurance in the stretch. That’s what I care about. We’re knocking on their door and they’re going to fold if we punch this ball in, so let’s get out there and do that. Make them quit. Make them crawl away before the end of the game. More importantly, let’s not settle for a field goal when a touchdown will put the ice on this game.”

Amber Vanderleigh nodded and followed the team onto the field, receiving a call from the microphone inside of her helmet. “Alright, Amber,” said Clancy Leap. “We’re running something familiar here. Shallow crossing routes with Kyler heading to the corner. The play is Gold Twenty One. That’s Gold, Twenty One. We believe that we’re in four down territory here, so don’t force anything if you can’t find the pass that you want.”

“Aye,” said Amber, and she called the play to the team after looking at her wristband for the terminology. But as soon as the play started, things were already going awry. The snap was high, and Vince Tufte battled his way around Matthew McMullan as soon as the left tackle took a single step back. Kyler was headed towards the corner, and normally, Amber would have gotten rid of the ball by gunning it to him but… That wasn’t what reinventing yourself was, really. She’d promised to do better. And doing better meant not making the same mistakes over and over again.

This time, Amber pumped towards Kyler before spinning across her body and slipping out of the grasp of Tufte, tucking the ball under her arm and starting to run. Once she crossed the line of scrimmage, Simon Loria buzzed down to cut off her angle, but she decided to take the outside route. After all, Mason Profit had been tied up at the line by the corner, but was doing a pretty good job setting a block for her, even accidentally. She cut around Mason’s outside foot, and as Loria scrambled to adjust, there was an open path towards the end zone by the sideline. It was just a matter of who would win the foot race.

There were five yards. Four yards. Three yards left. And then Loria dived, and Amber did something that she had only done once before in her career, in her junior year of high school. She went airborne, jumping like a superhero over the safety that was by all means larger, stronger, and more aggressive than she was. When she hit the ground, she didn’t even know if she had made it in, but she heard the roar of the crowd and the roar of the cadets and the band in the end zone in front of her. And then, as she was still on the ground, feeling like she’d strained something from the hard impact, she heard the sound of fireworks going off in the sky above her.

“TOOOOUUUCHHHHDOOOWN CHEVALIERS!” the stadium announcer said, and when she was able to stand, her teammates were crowding her. She looked up to the sky, and there were more fireworks going off, in red and blue and even gold. “Scored on a six yard scramble to the corner by Amber… VANDERLEIGH!” the announcer added, and one more set of fireworks went off.

As Amber ran back to the sideline, the adrenaline rush was like nothing she’d ever experienced during her college career. Was this what being a star was like? Did having the approval of the fans and the coaches and your teammates feel this way? If that was how it felt, she was going to make sure she never played badly again. Even Clancy Leap, who was outright hostile to her at times, seemed friendly when she returned to the sideline. “Good work, Amber. Just avoid spinning across your body in the future, other than that, you did a good job improvising. Keep up the improvement.”

“Sure, coach. Oh, and one more thing, I think I tore up my wrist on the landing,” she said, grimacing as the adrenaline wore off and the sharp pain set in around her hand and wrist area. Like she’d pulled one of the muscles, or worse. But it was worth it. They had the lead now, and they’d likely have one more drive to ice off the game for good. And with their main foe defeated, they were well on their way to the conference title if they could keep from falling apart down the stretch.

For once, Amber felt like she was doing her family proud.

Hallenburg, Present Day

New West Gallia North’s undefeated run was an afterthought after Tevin Vanderleigh and the team left the stadium in Hallenburg, where they’d defeated a twenty second ranked Hallenburg Academy team by a 56-0 scoreline for a third and final out of conference win this season. No, everyone wasn’t focusing on the blowout win, but on the investigation into Lindon Tech and how it related to Tevin Vanderleigh, the prized recruit who was at the center of it all. The one that Smoke Sports wanted in Lindon.

As soon as the press went into the locker room after the game, there were plenty of questions for Tevin. “Do you realize that if you don’t tell the truth, it’s only going to result in more punishments for the program at Lindon Tech? This is not a school investigation but a government one, and what do you think about the possibility of an arrest?”

“What kind of question is that?” Tevin asked, standing in the corner of the locker room, changing into a black Smoke Sports sweatshirt. “I didn’t take money from Lindon Tech. I didn’t take equipment from Lindon Tech. I don’t know why I would need to do that when my family is one of the most famous and richest in the country. I think that someone is an idiot if they look at the crest cleats that I wore against Port Lindon and against Hallenburg tonight and they think that I took them from Lindon Tech, because there’s really no reason why my family would need those things from them. I have my own money and my family ordered a pair of unreleased cleats from Smoke Sports, so what?”

“But you supposedly received the cleats in the parking lot, from a Lindon Tech recruiter-”

“No shit. Of course I did, supposedly. You can’t believe everything you hear in the papers,” Tevin fired back quickly. “I didn’t talk to any Lindon Tech recruiter in the parking lot. I talked to a girl, yes, but that girl was a family friend from Lindon. She knows my sister, Amber, from awhile back, when she lived in New West Gallia. And we exchanged contacts because we hadn’t seen each other in forever. If just talking to someone from the city of Lindon is the crime, then yes, I’m guilty.”

“But the text messages-”

“There are no text messages. Stop believing everything that you hear,” Tevin said, and with that, the impromptu press conference ended as Tevin pushed his way through the crowd and left, following the team out to the parking lot and their bus, passing through even more media in the process. The attention was just one of the perks of being a Vanderleigh.

Finally!

Kotaharapan — The Wyverns finally seemed to play up to their ability in a crushing victory over PCR in NSCF competition.

“We were really happy with our performance,” Coach Gruber said. “We were flying all up and down the field.” Indeed they were, the Wyverns scoring a round ten points in each quarter en route to an easy 40-10 victory over a hapless PCR club. UArk's defense did their part, scoring a touchdown off a long interception return by true freshman Peyton Sulzbach. “It was really exciting, the crowd was going crazy, my teammates cleared a path, and I did the easy part,” Sulzbach said of his 89-yard interception return.

The Wyverns were successful moving the ball all game, finishing with over 400 yards passing and another 250 on the ground. Four Luis Beckenbauer field goals helped the Wyverns maintain a consistent scoring rate.

“Finishing each quarter with ten points was great to see,” Coach Gruber said of the performance. “When you go out there and score twice in each quarter it feels good. Doesn't matter if it's six or fourteen.”

The Wyverns have two conference games remaining, against Saguenay and St. Croix. Winning both games will give them a high likelihood of making the NSCF playoffs, and the coaches and players alike say that two more wins is the goal. “Coming out of the conference seven and three would be great at this point,” Coach Gruber said. “I think we can do it. Our last couple games have been very encouraging.”

Northern drop first of the year in 43-23 loss at the Istria Lightning Yard; still in driver's seat for Celestia Conference title

Image
Freshman running back Beluchi Okparro is stuffed in the backfield on a 4th and goal

ISTRIA- This game was the most hyped North v. South Showdown for quite some time. Rivalry games are the lifeblood of college football- they are what makes the sport special. The extra energy, the trophies, the games that simply mean more than any other regular season game on your schedule. This is what college football is all about. This game had more energy around it than normal because of the positions of the teams in the standings. The clear cut top two teams in the Celestia Conference, alongside Northern being undefeated. made this game matter that much more. With Northern's record and results elsewhere, they actually could have clinched the conference title if they had won. Alas, that did not happen.

The top two offenses in the NSCF squared off, and it was a beautiful matchup. However. this was a must-win for Loyola-Istria. Considering results elsewhere, a win here would've clinched the conference title for Northern Moravica, and if Loyola fell to 4-3, they would be in great danger of missing the playoffs altogether. The game did not go swimmigly for Northern Moravica. The two high-powered offenses went at it toe to toe in the first half.

The scoring was relatively equal in the first half of play. Northern scored on the game's first play from scrimmage. Okparro took a handoff from their own 37 yard line, already good field position, in the shotgun formation, and ran it outside. Quebecois Offensive Coordinator Joon Ho Kweon had a bit of trickery ready for this rivalry game. The play was a reverse pass. Receiver Grant Vezaquez III took the football and ran towards the other sideline. Instead of turning with the ball upfield, however, he threw a pass to a wide open Kutubo Colley 30 yards down the field, who ran all the way to the end zone. With that kind of play to start the game, you knew you were in for a good one.

The home team, of course, had to respond, and they did, in a very big way. They had a long, methodical drive, to wear down the conference leaders. The plan worked. 16 plays, 87 yards, and 5:44 later, Justice Greenspan pounded the ball into the endzone in his last ever North v. South Showdown, as the Blue Thunder tied the game at 7. The two teams made some stops, but with 5 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, the score was 14-14. Okparro had a yard TD run at the end of the 1st quarter, and Loyola QB Isaka Jawara had 22 yard touchdown run himself. But things a little weird at the end of the 1st half. Loyola, with a 1st and 10 from their own 6 yard line, and with Isaka Jawara audibling, center Baturu Hairte snapped the ball over his head and through the back of the end zone. Just like that, Northern led 16-14. Loyola forced a 3 and out on the ensuing drive, and scored another touchdown with 11 seconds left in the half, to take a 20-16 lead. They successfully went for two and got it, with a fade to the tight end giving the hosts a 22-16 lead at halftime.

Loyola started with the football in the 3rd quarter, and their high-powered offense was just getting into gear. Their end of the 1st half drive was the first of 4 straight touchdown drives, as they responded to their safety by going on a 29-0 run. The three scoring drives in the second half were all at least 10 plays, at least 4 minutes in length, and at least 70 yards in total distance. All three of those drives ended in Jawara touchdown passes, with two to Hezekiah Berehanu and the third to freshman receiver Artemesio Take. At that last one, Loyola had a 43-16 lead over their archrivals with less than 7 minutes remaining.

While Northern got caught up by the flurry of offensive power by Loyola-Istria, they still have everything out in front of them. Their conference games left are against Northern Dinagat State, Coral Coast, and winless Solomons Land City College. If they win out, they will win the Celestia conference outright. But the pressure is on. Loyola, after struggling earlier in the season, is on an offensive tear. Averaging a ridiculous 42.7 points a game over their past 3 games, they will look to keep the pressure up on Northern. But with their high-powered offense, their point differential will likely be larger than Northern's if they win out. That's a big if, of course, as their remaining games are both Lycrabon schools and Coral Coast, but that is the remaining schedule.

It is a bit early to see a playoff outlook, but if Northern does not take Celestia's automatic bid, the bid for an at-large playoff spot might get a little bit hairy, for either the 3 ranking spots or the two chosen by the almighty committee. Raynor, Stoneshore, and Saguenay are their non-conference opponents, and all are traditional blue blood schools. Winning those kind of games, key to impressing both the rankings and the committee, could prove to be extremely difficult. We'll see if Coach Browning can hold everything together after the team's 6-0 start, and put them into the postseason.

Loyola shows it is a force to be reckoned with in rivalry game victory

Image
Isaka Jawara's touchdown run in the 1st half

ISTRIA- This offense was under a lot of scrutiny in weeks 2-4. The Christian institution has responded with an absolute explosion, and there is no criticism of offensive coordinator Dennis Zervos now. This team is averaging a mind-boggling 42.7 points over the last 3 games, all resulting in Loyola victories. From 2-2 after their loss in Herzegovina City, this team now finds itself at 5-2 and sitting firmly in second place in the Celestia Conference, at least for now.

Putting up 40 points on a team coached by Horace Browning is unheard of. It is the best point total against a Northern defense ever in their 4 season history of NSCF play- and it came on a team that had Northern's best ever start, a 6-0 start through 6 games of the season. Even though these two teams had the top two offenses in the NSCF, the Loyola offense showed its sophistication. While this was seen as a must-win for Loyola, a third loss this early in the season officially ending their hopes for a conference title, and putting their playoff hopes on serious life support, the offense came out to play.

Of course, this team is on an emotional high after that game. There is nothing like winning a rivalry game that will get the blood pumping for the Blue Thunder- they love defeating their hated rivals to the North. This offense, after being under pressure from the Istria press, are now on fire, and are far and away the best offense in the NSCF. They have 224 points scored, 49 more points then the next highest scoring team, who happens to be Northern Moravica. This team is on a roll, and it makes them a dangerous opponent over the course of the next 3, or even the next 6 weeks. But it will be seen if Alastair Jobs can bring this team down to earth, and get them ready for the next one. These wins won't mean much in the grand scheme of things if they cannot be matched with other wins, and now that Loyola has played themselves back into playoff contention, it is up to them to show that they deserve this playoff spot.

Practice Altercation Leaves Buffalo Safety Marcell Salley Injured

In practice today, Marcell Salley, known for his ball-hawking, but also for his tendency to utterly ignore the defensive play calling, had a bad practice today, for sure. The defense ran five plays in a row of the same play, the safety screwing up his assignment each time. The entire defense's patience was running thin. And then Salley started arguing with the coach.

Angelo Gordon wasn't having it.

The designated pass rusher threw off his pads and helmet in a flash, charging towards the still-armored Salley in a fury, and delivered a blow to his head that instantly knocked him out cold, no pun intended.

The OLB, and defensive captain, proceeded to go on a rant about how this was the kind of thing that causes teams to lose ball games. But other questions, questions about this team's ability to remain together through hard times, and questions of leadership, have arisen.

The staff says that Salley will be a game day decision, and that they are currently discussing not only benching Angelo Gordon for one, or more, games, but stripping him of his captaincy after the incident.

Granted, stripping him of his captaincy, more than likely, will not change the way that most of his teammates see him, but it will send a message to the other players: A message that this behavior is not to be tolerated, even if Salley's arrogance and foolhardy play style deserved some form of consequences long ago.

Northern finally returns home after achieving victory in their fourth straight road game

Image
Defensive Tackle Baslios Asmelash returns a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown in the 1st quarter to tie the game at 7 in the 1st quarter

NORTHERN DINAGAT STATE- Northern Moravica had an absolute brutal travel schedule this season. While they started with 3 of their first 4 games at home, they followed that up with 4 straight road games. The trip to Solomons Land City College, then a trip to Fair Haven State, then their visit to Loyola-Istria, and finally, their visit to Northern Dinagat State. Going 3-1 on this 4 game road trip was absolutely massive for Northern- they still are the sole masters of their own destiny in the Conference after it, and are in a good position to get the Celestia Conference's automatic bid to the playoffs.

This game against Northern Dinagat State was an interesting one. They did something Northern is not used to doing, wearing white at home. Therefore, Northern brought their purple jerseys, rather than their white ones, with them on the road, and turned in a dominating defensive performance against Lycrabon. This was an important game, to see how the team would respond to their away loss in the North v. South Showdown against archrivals Loyola-Istria, where the defense got rocked, allowing 43 points at the Istria Lighting Yard.

At first, things did not look good. On Northern Dinagat's first play from scrimmage, they went long and attacked Northern's senior cornerback, Yonas Azikiwe. He slipped on the play, and Northern caught it easily and had a 75 yard touchdown pass to start the game. The hosts had momentum, it looked as if Northern was still reeling from their game in Istria, and the team looked tired, playing in their fourth straight road game. And with Northern going 3 and out on their next possesion, things looked to be slipping away from Horace Browning. But he called an early timeout, and calmed the troops.

Northern Dinagat had a 3rd and 15 from their own 27 yard line. Northern only rushed 4, but senior defensive end Elias Mulu blew past the offensive tackle and sacked the quarterback, forcing a fumble. The fumble was scooped up by defensive tackle Baslios Asmelash, who waltzed to the end zone to tie the game at 7. After the defense got dominated for four quarters, plus that one play to start the game, they came through and dominated this game. Outside of that opening touchdown, this defense forced 3 turnovers and held the hosts to 97 yards of total offense, and no points.

Northern Moravica could not move the football that well on offense for the majority of the game, as they kept running the football, and they kept getting stuffed. Rodo was not on mark today, so it was special teams that gave the team the lead late in the 1st half. With 3 minutes left in the half, Northern Dinagat was preparing to punt, and punted the ball to freshman kick returner Kutubo Colley. Kutubo Colley fielded the ball at his own 22 yard line, made two men miss, and returned the ball 78 yards to the house, to give his team a 14-7 lead going into halftime without a single offensive point by this Northern team.

While the game was back and forth punts, it got very interesting in the 4th quarter. Northern punted with 8 minutes to go, and Northern Dinagat's kick returner flew down the field, who was brought down on a shoelace tackle by Northern punter Ablanjaye Kandeh at the Northern 35 yard line. Northern Dinagat, with momentum, immediately threw a post down the middle of the field, but captain Gidada Shale made a diving interception at his own 15 yard line to get the ball right back to Northern. And then Northern was finally able to put together a drive. 11 plays, 6:43 later, Northern punched the football in on a one yard plunge by senior fullback Negasi Tewolde to give themselves 21-7 lead, which was the final score.

After a brutal 4 game road trip, they close out conference play with a relatively easy pair of games. They will host the bottom two teams in the conference in the final two games of conference play, 2-6 Coral Coast and 0-8 Solomons Land City College. Northern will have to focus to win these ones, of course, but with this victory in Lycrabon, they are the clear-cut favorites to finish 9-1 in conference play, and win this conference's automatic bid. And then, of course, clean things up so they can get ready for a brutal non-conference schedule, starting with a visit from Head Coach Horace Browning's old school, Stoneshore College.

Loyola wins 4th in a row with 20-0 victory over Coral Coast University

Hezekiah Berehanu celebrates a touchdown catch in the 1st quarter against Coral Coast

CORAL COAST- Well, it's not reasonable to ask a team to average 42.7 points a game for an entire season. Even though that streak is over, Isaka Jawara had two touchdown passes, Justice Greenspan added another score on the ground, and the defense pitched a shutout, as the Blue Thunder won their 4th game in a row, this time at Coral Coast University in Frenline Delpha, with a 20-0 victory over the hosts that put the Blue Thunder at 6-2, and allowed them to keep pace with their archrivals to the North in the Celestia conference race.

Loyola only scored 6 points in the first half, as the game was a defensive showdown. These first points, of course, came on a turnover. Coral Coast had a 3rd and 6 from their own 17, and they went for a deep slant. The ball was overthrown and intercepted at the Coral Coast 40 yard line by free safety Obi Benti, and the ball was returned 5 yards to the 35. On the first play from scrimmage, Loyola went for paydirt, and they got it. Isaka Jawara had a read pass option, faked the handoff and rolled right, then threw a dart down the sideline. Hezekiah Berehanu had his man beaten by a step, caught the football, and ran into the end zone for a 35 yard touchdown reception. The extra point was missed, and Loyola took a 6-0 lead into halftime.

There was no scoring again until late in the third quarter. Loyola was driving, and had a 2nd and 3 from the Coral Coast 22. On the read-option, Isaka Jawara held the ball out for Justice Greenspan, took it back, and ran up a hole up the middle, and scampered 22 yards into the end zone. After the extra point, the score was 13-0 Loyola, and the Blue Thunder were rolling. Justice Greenspan had a big play in the 4th quarter, a 58 yard run to set up a 1st and goal from the 5, and Justice Greenspan punched it in himself to complete the scoring, as Loyola won 20-0.

The Blue Thunder, with this 20-0 victory, had won their 4th in a row and now were 6-2. While they were disappointed with the news coming out of Lycrabon, they are still setting themselves up for a good push at a wild card spot in the playoffs, as either an at-large berth from the committee, or one of the top 3 non-conference champion ranking spots. This team is getting hot at the right time, and though there is quite a bit of football to be played, this team should be confident of at least finishing out conference play on a high note.

Their last two conference games are against the middle of the table Lycrabon schools, with a visit to Northern Dinagat State, and a home game against Fair Haven State. Fair Haven State, of course, beat this side in week 2 in Lycrabon, and since Loyola has lost its only game in that country so far, neither of these games are gimmes. Both have the potential for upsets and to derail the postseason hopes of Head Coach Alastair Jobs and the Blue Thunder faithful. Northern is favored to win, but they got a pair of tough games that they both absolutely must have if they are to even think of qualifying for the NSCF 17 playoffs.

Q4: 00:04 remaining, UArk has taken its final timeout.

Welcome back to Kotaharapan, everyone watching at home, we've got one more play left in regulation here as our Wyverns are tied with Saguenay both in this game and in the Woodlands Conference standings. The score is ten to ten, we've got four seconds left, and the players are about to come back on the field here after the Wyverns took their final timeout. Looks like we've got three, no, four wide receivers in the huddle.

Yeah Greg, it looks like four, and look for the pass here obviously. The Wyverns don't want to bother with overtime, they're wanting to walk out with a win and use as little energy as possible doing it.

Pistol set here, four wide, Langer is the lone set back. Ware is directing traffic from the quarterback position, and trying to quiet the crowd. Wyverns at their own thirty-three yard line. Ware claps for the ball. He drops back, he's looking, looking, he's under pressure, flushed out, he's sack—no, he got it away, deep down the right side of the field, Asim McCrory goes up, he's got it! And he broke the tackle! Oh my! McCrory is all alone deep down the right sideline, and he'll score! With no time left, the Wyverns have scored a game-winning touchdown!

Kotaharapan — With an exciting 17-10 home win, the UArk Wyverns are officially back in the playoff hunt. After a tumultuous campaign in which the Wyverns struggled to score, they pulled out a thriller in front of a home crowd against Saguenay, scoring the game-winning touchdown as time expired.

“Obviously we're happy with the outcome,” Coach Gruber said after the game. “Six and three puts us in a pretty good spot.” The Wyverns now sit one game behind their next opponent, St. Croix, who defeated them 30-7 in the previous contest between the two teams. A victory over St. Croix would put the Wyverns in position to control their own destiny moving into out-of-conference games.

It was an exciting back and forth between the teams. The score was 7-7 heading into the fourth quarter, but after the field goals early in the fourth quarter it seemed the winning points never came. A shocking fumble with just thirty seconds left gave the Wyverns the final possession they needed.

The Wyverns face St. Croix next to close out their conference schedule. Then come the trio of non-conference games to round out the regular season.
it is ultimately class which divides us.

John Garrett lined up under center for the first time, as a starter, in weeks. It was the first play of the game, an oddity for Richardson's normal get the ball in the second half mentality. Steinheil had called a simple slant pattern to start him off, he always was good with a quick release. And so the play came, and he looked straight to Larry Foster, throwing the ball towards where he knew the wideout would be without even looking.

It was an easy three yard pickup, the 6'5" monster making it five when he refused to stop his legs.

Easy completion to help him get back into rhythm. The next was a run, one with a six yard gain. Easy completions and runs. For about eight straight, that's all that it was. Then came a third and seven on a tackle for a loss, a third and seven on the thirty yard line. He hadn't missed a ball yet, largely due to the quick passes that didn't give defenders time to react, but this one had some real pressure, pressure to pick up the first down at a distance where their kicker likely couldn't hit the goal posts.

"Red, thirty three," he looked over the defense. One high safety, four down linemen, three corners, three backers.

"Hike!"

He took the snap in the shotgun, dropping a couple steps and instantly looking at Johnny Farmer, who was running a post route. The safety, seeing this, bit, following Farmer, putting Javier Gilmore in man coverage on a crossing route. He was just too fast for that.

John Garrett slung the ball deep, hitting Gilmore in stride, the wideout turning up field quickly, with no one to stop him, for the Governors' first touchdown of the game.

And John Garrett, who's confidence had been a bit shaky coming in, grinned. This was going to be his ballgame.

Richard Steinheil, their head coach, literally hugged him when he came off the field, "It's been tough without you Farmboy, glad to have you back in the lineup."

"Thanks coach. It means the world to m-" The crowd went into an uproar, and they both looked up at the scoreboard to see '9-0' glowing up above, then back down at their endzone to see Johnny Farmer coming up from atop the quarterback, hands closed above his head in the signal for a safety.

"Well, that's one way to start a game." The two were silent for a moment, then Steinheil shooed John Garrett back into the game. "We're airing it out until the very end here, big guy. I want Mar Sara Tech to know that we're at full strength."

"Good to know, coach."

Once again, he was in the I formation, analyzing the defense. Looks like 44 is going to blitz...

John Garrett took the snap, and was right, linebacker coming straight through the B, unblocked.

Always throw into the blitz...

He turned towards the soft spot in the coverage where Johnny Farmer sat in the curl, stopped his drop back, and put a bit of touch on the ball before stepping aside of his incoming rusher. With some room to build momentum, Farmer charged up the field, breaking one tackle before going down, an eleven yard gain.

Yeah, I'm taking this one over.

Fourth quarter, two minutes left to go. The Richardson University Governors are up twenty three to three over the struggling Zequoia State, and this one's all over but the shouting. However, Zequoia State has forced a third and ten, and could potentially go for a consolation score. The Governors haven't done much passing in this half, already having built up a 16-3 lead by the third quarter, but we may see John Garrett take one last shot.

Speak of the Devil, it looks like he's calling an audible, we may see him go down the field with this one. He's thrown three touchdowns to three different receivers, will wee see another one here?

He takes the snap, looks down the field, under pressure, Garrett steps up in the pocket, and now fires one down the field and he has his man! Johnny Farmer, one on one in the end zone, forty one yards, wow! John Garrett's fourth score of the night, he has shredded this secondary with his arm tonight!

And the PAT is good, wow! Ta'shaun Blue, with a rare 4/4 extra points performance, to boot.

I have to say, Richardson looked sharp here tonight. Richard Steinheil had on obvious plan coming in to restore John Garrett's confidence with some easy completions to start him off, and then really let him rip in the first half. He's picked up a few key first downs and threw a touchdown in the third, but the coaching staff let off the gas a bit, especially after a sack in the third. They want their quarterback healthy, especially for the run they're hoping to make.

Zequoia State should kneel it here...but no, they're going to drop back again! Wow! That's bold, probably hoping to get something out of the night, but their quarterback will be dropped by Johnny Farmer, his third sack of the night, and I think...yes, they're just going to let the clock run out, game over. The Governors dominated in this one,
and should they win next week, they'll have taken the Big Eight Conference for the second time in their two years of international competition.

John Garrett led this offense back into the limelight though, and let's be honest here, he helped the defense too. With the amount of third downs that he converted, it helped keep this defense fresh, off the field, and making plays while he orchestrated an offensive explosion on the Governors' side with a whopping 470 yard performance. And I'm sure, of course, that his receivers don't mind the increased volume in the passing game, either.

Well, with that, this is Hannes Klug, signing off, and I'll see you next week when the Richardson Governors and Mar Sara Tech Raiders battle it out for the NSCF Big Eight Conference Championship!

Football: Gallian National Police backpedal on Vanderleigh investigation
By Tanner Abernathy, LindAgs Senior Staff

There are no text messages. That’s what Tevin Vanderleigh told media members as New West Gallia North defeated Hallenburg Academy, and by text messages, he was referring to messages between him and the anonymous Lindon Tech recruiter known as C. Supposedly, texts between Tevin and C would have confirmed that Lindon Tech broke laws in his recruitment, and the initial report named text messages as being evidence, but the second report has said that Tevin was correct in his statement from Hallenburg. There are no text messages, the report confirmed.

It has the nation up in arms, with everyone believing that this is just another case of the Vanderleigh family being favored over the rest of us. The commoners and the plebeians, who aren’t supposed to see that this is clearly corruption in play. And at a glance, it does look somewhat suspicious, because the change in the reports only happened after Gallian Military Academy quarterback Amber Vandrleigh was seen meeting with GNP officials on behalf of her little brother. Pictures from before and after the meeting indicate that something changed hands. Money. Maybe memorabilia from the most famous family in the country.

Of course, that’s just what everyone is saying. Neither side has proved anything either way, and the official statement from the National Police is that the previous report mistook texts to another number as being to Vanderleigh. If true, it would mean that Lindon Tech has committed violations, but that they haven’t committed them in the recruitment of Tevin Vanderleigh, the number one player in the country. It doesn’t change a whole lot, but means that if Vanderleigh were to sign for Tech, he wouldn’t risk facing a suspension. Rather, the player in question is now four star inside linebacker Robyn Hunter, who is teammates with Vanderleigh at New West Gallia North.

The new report has also said that the person listed as B is not Zoe Baron, which again looks suspicious to many fans after Baron Enterprises hired a team of lawyers to combat any attempts at filing charges. Perhaps more interestingly, the new report links Hallenburg State with more charges than Lindon Tech. While the details of Vanderleigh’s visit to Lindon Tech haven't changed, it now details HSU as the team that illegally gave him a pair of cleats and Smoke Sports equipment, which is the largest violation from the first report. Of course, this wouldn’t be HSU’s first run in with the National Police.

It wasn’t long ago relatively when Hallenburg State saw several of their athletics department members arrested… Just like two members of Smoke Sports were arrested before the second report on the Vandeerleigh investigation came out. Haters of Lindon Tech would like to say that the GNP are going to bring down everyone but the Vanderleighs and Zoe Baron, and while the Smoke Sports arrests happened in connection with HSU and not with Tech, which has a completely different meaning for the investigation and for Tech than the opposite scenario would.

LindAgs will continue to report on this situation as the investigation continues and as the GNP releases more information and reports.

Space scoring less, opponents lesser

The academy of space won another game but they did not have to score many points to do it.

It was the most recent game against the Marabesh Elite Academy and it was an important game for the Academy of Space because space would still like to make it to the playoff round. Calix City Institute of Archaeology is the winner of the Sequoia Conference but now, after a victory over Marabesh Elite Academy, The Academy of Space can finish second in this conference.

The win almost did not come. It was not a surprise that Marabesh Elite Academy struggled to put points on the scoreboard against Space but it was a surprise that Space also could not score. it was 59 minutes and 58 seconds where no score was on the board for either team. Finally the Academy of Space did not want the game to go to overtime and kicked a field goal with the last play of the game. It was a long field goal - 53 yards but the attempt was good and Space was the winner of the match.

There is only one game remaining in the Sequoia Conference and the Academy of Space is now second position with 6 wins and 3 losses. There are 162 points scored by the Academy of Space and only 91 against, not a bad record. Space needs one more victory in the final Sequoia Conference match to have a chance at qualifying for the next round. In the Zephy Conference Thereisno Community College already has 7 wins and has more points. Loyala University in the Celestia Conference also has 7 wins. In the Horizon Conference, Stoneshore College has 8 wins and Sadeg State University has 7. In the Mineral Conference, Lindon Technical College has 8 wins and University of Konigsberg has 7. In the Big Eight Conference which has just 6 teams, very strange, Mara Sara Tech and Cold Hill University have just 6 wins. Also in the Woodlands Conference, Univesity of Arkinesia, University of Iqaluit and the Universite du Saguenay all have just 6 wins.

So what this means is there are two teams, Stoneshore College and Lindon Technical College that Space can not beat or tie. There are two teams, Thereiso Community College and Loyala University that Space can tie only if those teams lose their last game. Already that means 4 teams that it will be difficult for Space to finish ahead. After that Sadeg State University and University of Konigsberg also have 7 wins already which means space can only tie them. That means 2 teams Space is definitely behind, 2 teams they might finish behind and 2 teams they can do no better than tie. So even a win on the final match will not make the Academy of Space into the final twelve. But its the only chance so Space has to try. If Space win, at least they will be tied with some teams and a choice will have to be made. Go Space!

2 Lindon Technical College 10 8 0 2 211 79 +132

Governors Wrest Big Eight Crown from Mar Sara Tech in Week Ten Victory

"As much as I would love to say that we're going to come out and dominate these guys, Mar Sara Tech is not a good, but a great football team, and they've played well all season, against us, and against Cold Hill. These guys can play some football, and they're tough to boot. They have a strong defense and a good offense. It will be a tough game, and I'm sure that we'll find a way to win, but anyone who says there will be a blowout on either side is insane."

John Garrett, half an hour before the game, when questioned about his ability to pick apart the Tech defense.

The game started off slow, with a total of six punts, three each, before either team managed to score, well into the second quarter, with Tech DE Galothsel coming off the edge for two of his team's four first half sacks on only ten dropbacks by quarterback John Garrett,

While Richardson had intended to come out and pound the running game against a smaller, but faster defensive unit, Mar Sara Tech's unit showed toughness, holding Richardson to fifty yards before the first touchdown.

With four minutes to go in the second quarter, however, the Governors offense switched tactics, John Garrett taking the ball in the shotgun with backup RB, and skilled blocker, Elijah Sampson left in as an extra protector. This gave the hurting quarterback time to find Farmer for his first big completion of the game, fifteen yards, and the drive ended in four plays, with Javier Gilmore hauling in a deep ball that set up a one yard touchdown grab by Larry Foster.

Mar Sara Tech, however, finally exploited the superior speed on their side of the ball. With three minutes left in the ball game, their offense managed to muster a push into the end zone utilizing sweeps, tosses, and finally one deep ball to senior wideout Laealvaiel, who beat the slower Bryan Gray for a thirty yard score.

They kept that momentum in the second half.

Coming out, the Raiders offense charged down the field for a seventy seven yard, six minute drive on fifteen plays, the best offensive showing of the night, and scored another touchdown, this one in the red zone, that put Richardson down and seemingly short on momentum. After a three and out, it seemed that way, with Mar Sara Tech once again beginning to drive downfield, but senior Governor defensive tackle, and captain, Kevin Gerhart, laid the hammer down on the fifth play of the drive with a sack, one of two sacks and one of six tackles on the day for the mammoth linemen. The very next play, defensive end/tight end standout Johnny Farmer got a QB tackle of his own, forcing a fumble that set his offense up in the red zone.

Two plays in a row, John Garrett failed to find his target, but on third down, Johnny Farmer lined up beside him, appearing to be preparing to either run out of the backfield or block for his quarterback.

Instead, on a direct snap to the tight end, John Garrett faked a rollout to the other side, drawing rushers away, while the coverage shifted towards Richardson's recievers. Johnny Farmer, whom had the ball tucked into his side, then dropped back while John Garrett sprinted off to the other side of the field, and at that point, the two of them were just playing catch. It wasn't a particularly great throw, or a graceful snag, but it was a forty three yard touchdown pass.
"Man, it's been awhile since I've thrown one to John. I don't think we've run a play like that since seventh grade."

Johnny Farmer on throwing a touchdown pass to his quarterback, and close friend.

The score, however, completely shifted the pace of the game. Mar Sara Tech was held to one hundred offensive yards, and zero points, after Richardson's second touchdown, while the Governors scored one more to get up to 21-14, the last touchdown pass going to tight end Johnny Farmer, who took in over a hundred receiving yards once again.

Hopefully, this Richardson team can carry the momentum from this one into their three out of conference games, where they face defending champs, and the team that knocked them off last year, in Ramusok Capital in week two, along with Loyola and St Croix, two powerhouse programs, in their other two slots.

Cold Hill University Ends Conference Schedule With a Bang

Cold Hill University looked out of it in the middle of the season, coming off a tough loss against Raynor that put them at 3-4, and looking at a dismal, losing record of a season. That all changed, however, when they toppled domestic Ranorian championship squad Richardson University in a 22-14 thriller, and proceeded to go on a three game winning streak in which they outscored their opponents 95-34, good for the best point differential, and easily the best offense, in the Big Eight Conference.

The Cold Hill offense put up 28 more points than the next best unit, Mar Sara Tech, and they had a nine point advantage over Richardson when it came to point differential.

This three game winning streak can largely be attributed to better leadership in the locker room. After an explosion by star linebacker Angelo Gordon, the entire team seems to have realized that, despite the standout's inappropriate reaction, everyone had to do their job to win games. As a result, Thorn Davis's offense clicked, the QB passing for a ridiculous 945 yards in that two game run, with ten combined touchdowns to boot.

If this team can continue its streak into their out of conference games, then they very well may have a shot yet to make the NSCF playoffs, just as Richardson did last season, in their inaugural year.

SKYHAWKS ON THE BUBBLE

Sadeg State 6th After Conference Play

Written by Jacob Harding

So the conference season has all come and gone now. Sadeg State has definitely had a respectable season in the Horizon Conference. With a 7-3 record, 3rd in the conference, They've already outplayed Drawk Corps University in all 4 of their NSCF seasons. As a tribute to those sad scrubs, I've assembled a brief history of their futility.

In their first season, NSCF 13, the Drawk Corps U made a "statement" by finishing off the season 4-6 in conference play with an "impressive" -59 point differential. Way to go, guys, everybody's now super worried about Drawkland in the international stage now. What a joke. They got a win on the first non-conference game with a "thrilling" 7-3 win, then took 2 fat L's by double-digit margins. They topped off the "great" opening season by failing to make a Bowl game. LOL.

NSCF 14 was even more embarrassing, all things considered. DCU finished a trashy 3-7 (somebody should tell them there's no draft picks to tank for because it's college?). Their only wins came against a cake school which finished on 0 wins, and another from the same nation (Yesopalitha, letting you know how little of an accomplishment), who they only beat at home and couldn't even overcome them on the road. They finished second-to-last in the conference and proceeded to lose 2 straight non-conference games and then end the season on a "good" note by smashing Leopord Central University 30-7. Which, considering Leopord Central wasn't relevant until last season, the score should've been like 50-7. Shame on you, Corps. Once again they did jack shit in the postseason because they weren't eligible for anything.

The first week of NSCF 15 featured DCU being on top of the Horizon Conference for once .... because they beat a projected bottom-feeder by a larger margin than a Cosumarite school could beat an actual school. They were actually listed 10th on one nation's Top 10 rankings after week one, which is silly because you should only ever expect the Corps Uni to be massive L-takers. In fact, the script this year was the same as the last - They finished 3-7, failing to beat the two other bottom-feeding schools twice. The only good thing about this season is that they somehow managed to beat USC - that's right, Universite St. Croix, 21-17. And then proceeded to lose 36-10 to University of Konigsberg in their freshman season (including getting sacked by a free safety for a safety partway. Who does that?). Surprising literally nobody, they again did not make a Bowl or the Playoffs. Funnily enough, because of a lack of bowl-eligible teams, Cosumar's Stoneshore College ended up playing in the Drawk Bowl. They won it against Vietussia Academy 14-24, which was no surprise considering how accustomed they are to winning in Drawk Corps' stadium. BAM.

Unbeknownst to them (or really anyone else), NSCF 16 would be the last edition of the NSCF Drawk Corps U would participate in. Here, I want you to guess the Corps' record in this one. You have the length of this sentence to formulate your guess. Woah! They ended an entire 3-7! Actually, this was a fluke victory. With Emmanuel Theological in the conference that season, there was only one forgettable dumpster fire team for Drawk Corps to pilfer, so honestly the fact that they didn't finish 2-8 or even 1-9 was a mystery. In fact, they managed to beat Stoneshore College (yes, that one) 34-27 at home. This is funny though, because this was the first time DCU had ever beaten a Cosumarite school. In 4 seasons. That's right folks, in 16 games over an entire generation of players, Drawk Corps University managed an incredible 1-15 record. You figure a fluke win had to happen more than once, right? Especially with home field advantage? lol no. They once again topped off the season with a 1-2 out of conference record, losing to Leopord Central by 17 (HAHAHA), Konigsberg in OT, and luckily escaping Mar Sara 10-14. Sure that was the year LC was fearsome, but their conference is basically 5 teams that are the kind of teams Drawk Corps could "reliably" beat. If DCU had the skill to actually be bowl-eligible, they probably could be able to make the Reiner Bowl (best strengths of schedule), but unfortunately they were complete garbage.

So you might be asking something right now. Jacob, why are you shitting on Drawk Corps University? They're the heralds of Drawkland or some propaganda bullshit, right? They were just stuck in a strong conference! Come on now. Well, I'm here to set the record straight. You can not get 3 minutes into a conversation in Drawkland about college football before some mouthbreather comes in like "CAN'T DISCOUNT THE DRAWK CORPS DYNASTY BRO!" It's literally so obnoxious. Their fans talk so much shit that I'm surprised they don't choke on it, yet all they can come up with are the titles they won in Drawkland for years past. In this current age, what have they accomplished? Absolutely nothing. Of course, you can't discount them for the last 5 years because they were busy humiliating us in the NSCF, but still. They haven't won the title in over a decade, which is odd considering their fans act like they win two national championships every year. All lies. The fact is that the organization is starving for talent, but they haven't realized that most of the Drawkian talent nowadays which would normally go to them is now going to the new contenders, like yours truly, Sadeg State. Or better yet, heading abroad to better universities in other college leagues. What Drawkian high school star wouldn't want to get a full ride in order to play for a place like Ramusok Capital (not like any of them have yet, but it's still true)? Not only was their talent level pretty much total garbage at the start of their NSCF tenure, but now is even worse due to the fact that nobody wanted to play for them because they didn't want to become infected with the irremovable odor of rancid dog feces.

So, bandwagon fans and those that lack the ability to see, read, or look at recent history, let's do a little comparison-contrast, hm? I'm sure you'll be hasty to point out the Drawk Corps University has so much more talented ballplayers than Sadeg State. Of course, of course. I'll give you that. DCU had a much stronger recruiting base at the start of their NSCF career (probably not anymore though).

So let's do this same review but of Sadeg's State most recent season in the NSCF. Of course, there's still the non-conference games to go, but unless they go 0-3 it likely won't affect the outcome of their postseason. So, yeah. You know how I said that DCU was a full 1-15 against Cosumarite schools, their only win coming in their fourth and final season? Well, Sadeg State went ahead and beat Stoneshore College at Cosumar in their first ever meeting, and third ever game in the NSCF. Sure, at the end of the conference stage they're 1-4 vs Cosumar schools, but you can't deny this scoreline. 10-24. A 2-touchdown win. Yeah, suck this Skyhawk dick. Anyhow, that clutch win, coupled with actually beating every one of the conference opponents they should've beaten ended them with a 7-3 record. Also with a +79 point differential, the first time a Drawkian school had a positive differential in the NSCF. Now, the OSPI hasn't been calculated yet for reasons unknown, but our hackneyed guess is that we'll for real be bowl eligible, perhaps even on the playoff bubble.

So, in one season, Sadeg State has already blown Drawk Corps U's 4 performances out of the water. And really, not counting their first season, that's cumulative. Of course, there's the glaring issue here, and that's the conference opponents. I have to admit some on this. Harbor College (previously South Seas University) was mysteriously absent this year, which really set up a power vacuum in the Horizon Conference. Honestly all it did was pave a golden road for Ramusok Capital make it to the playoffs without hitting any potholes, but it did open up lots of opportunity for Stoneshore and anyone else to make a statement (which Sadeg did). Would Sadeg State be 3rd in the conference if Harbor College and even Emmanuel Theological Seminary were still around? Definitely not. Would they be 7-3? Also probably not. Would they be eligible for anything in the postseason? Many signs point affirmative. Ultimately there's no way to tell, but there's no way Drawk Corps U would've have this performance, and thus I don't want to hear it from you dickheads.

Of course, a lot of that final "did we do better?" question will come down the the out of conference schedule. DCU was consistent in ending the season with a 1-2 OOC record in order to compound their utter failure in the conference stage. Can Sadeg State make a better impact? In Week 1, they'll be taking on Zequoia State in Qasden, which honestly should be the cakest of cake wins (just the sort of thing DCU would choke out). The next week is a home game against Konigsberg, which will be a close one but with home field advantage and the power of Dustin Beck will probably be a thrilling win for the Skyhawks. At this point I'll point out that DCU lost to UK both times they played, so if Sadeg State wins that one that's simply another way that Skyhawks > Corps. They end the regular season with a home closer against Mar Sara, which DCU has split their games with 1-1. I'm sure the Skyhawks can beat the Raiders, too, but we all know accidents happen. If there's a match to drop, it's likely this one.

So then what about playoffs? Here's a helpful table we found (many thanks to those at the Academy of Space for putting this together)
2 Lindon Technical College 10 8 0 2 211 79 +132
2 Stoneshore College 10 8 0 2 144 53 +91
2 Thereisnon Community College (NGD) 9 7 0 2 227 80 +147
2 Loyola University (BNJ) 9 7 0 2 257 123 +134
3 University of Konigsberg 10 7 0 3 157 77 +80
3 Sadeg State University 10 7 0 3 182 103 +79
2 The Academy of Space (SPA) 9 6 0 3 162 91 +71
2 Mar Sara Tech 10 6 0 4 181 133 +48
3 Cold Hill University 10 6 0 4 229 148 +81
2 University of Arkinesia 10 6 0 4 137 123 +14
3 University of Iqaluit 10 6 0 4 149 91 +58
4 Universite du Saguenay 10 6 0 4 179 139 +40

As you can see, Sadeg State is listed 6th on this list. With the Academy of Space a game behind and still having a game to play (we believe it's Luvenstat, mid-table, so it could go either way), this list, at least as far as we're concerned, is still under contention. While we are also tied with 2 teams which have a game yet to play, Loyola and Thereisnogodistan CC, they both have much higher point differentials. They'd have to literally lose by 50-60 points in order to make a difference in these standings. At this point, it comes down to OSPI. It's highly likely that the Top 3 auto qualifications will be the Top 3 on this list since they'll have a game advantage on anyone and are likely to win 2-3 of their non-conference games. Our guess for auto-quals are Lindon, Stoneshore, and Loyola. Then of course there's the 2 wildcards, which could be anyone. After, that's just decided by some higher-up council whose intentions are murky at best. The best 2 schools available depending on non-conference results will likely be Konigsberg, Cold Hill, A-Space, and Sadeg State, although you can't sleep on Quebecois schools either. Really any of the schools on this Top 10-ish list have a shot at the playoffs.

Our guess would be Thereisnogodistan and Space making it through to the playoffs, leaving teams like Konigsberg and Sadeg State and Cold Hill out to dry. Thus, here's our predictions for the Bowls. Sadeg State and Cold Hill, if neither make the playoffs, are definitely the best newcomer teams, and will be in a Pioneer Bowl shootout against each other. If they end up Bowl Eligible, the Drawk Bowl (Big Eight vs Woodlands) will likely end as Mar Sara vs Arkinesia, but it could just as easily be Iqaluit or Saguenay just depending on how the non-conference shakes out. And while it hasn't been confirmed, the proposal for the Mugisha III Memorial Bowl would feature a Sequoia vs Celestia matchup. In a situation where Loyola makes the playoffs (incredibly likely), though, there's a possibility that no other teams will be eligible, if Fair Haven doesn't do well in the out of conference weeks. If so it'll just go to whatever team is bowl eligible elsewhere, which will probably be a Quebecois school. If the Academy of Space doesn't make it to the playoffs then they'll safely make it to this bowl, if not, it'll rely on Marabesh Elite to win enough games to be eligible to make this bowl. Depending on how life shakes out, it could be contested between two Quebecois schools simply because they're the only eligible teams left.

That doesn't matter much to us, however. Sadeg State is in a great place. If they win enough games, they have a chance at making the playoffs (in order to get assblasted by a lower conference winner in the first round), if not, they'll fall to the Pioneer Bowl, likely against Cold Hill if they similarly don't win enough to make the playoffs. If Cold Hill or Sadeg State make the playoffs though, it's slim pickings after that to find another newcomer team with a good enough OSPI. We'll see how things shake out though. Either way, Sadeg State is basically guaranteed a postseason appearance even if they go like 0-3 in the out of conference stage (okay, let's not tempt fate there, but still). Which truly does make Sadeg State better than Drawk Corps University. And that's final. Suckers.

OOC : Hey all. While I was checking through the results and tables, I've found out that I made two mistakes while studying for midterms and studying at the same time :
1) MD9 and 10's fixtures remained same throughout the conferences, it's just that I did them in wrong order (MD10 in MD9) the last night. So to fix that I've scorinated MD10 using MD9 fixtures, to make all's work fine.

2) There were a couple of errors with the scores in regards to fixtures involving Celestia Conference, because 5v2 and 4v3 somehow got changed to 5v4 and 2v3 without my notice 'til now. It's now fixed with right scores for MD7, with the accurate standings now reflected. In regards to the Banijan rivalry match, sorry about the inconvenience (even though Loyola won on the rescorinated round as well).

Sorry about the inconvenience all. Thank you for being patient with me this round.

splinter Woodson visits Akers state and travels with team to luvenstat
Splinter Woodson was impressed with Akers state although they lost Akers state put good protection on their QB Jack Nelson who had a sore foot but still played. " this was a good game" said Splinter Woodson " both teams played well this was a very interesting game and I was impressed with the linemen only allowing 1 sack by the opponent" a amazing hidden player trick by Akers state put them the lead 14-10 before luvenstat scored a touchdown to win the game 17-14 on a 67 yard run by luvenstat's RB. splinter Woodson said he is now committed to Akers state and will play on the team starting next year this is good for Akers state because starting QB jack Nelson is leaving the team for the NKPFL he is expected to be the #3 draft pick.

Space win again give up no points

The academy of space won another game and scored 19 points allowing none.

All of the games in the 10th round of the Sequoia Conference involved one team scoring and the other team not scoring. Good thing for the Academy of Space that the Astronauts were one of the scoring teams.

Space wins 19-0 over the University of Luvenstat and finish second place in the Conference to the Calix City Institute of Archaeology from Kebec. The worst team was in the Celestial Conference the Solomons Land City College that didn't win a single game and had a negative 185 point differential.

Finishing in second place and having 7 wins means Space looks like the 5th best non-champion team

2 Lindon Technical College 10 8 0 2 211 79 +132
2 Stoneshore College 10 8 0 2 144 53 +91
2 Loyola University (BNJ) 10 8 0 2 286 126 +160
2 Thereisnon Community College (NGD) 10 8 0 2 240 86 +154

2 The Academy of Space (SPA) 10 7 0 3 181 91 +90

3 University of Konigsberg 10 7 0 3 157 77 +80
3 Sadeg State University 10 7 0 3 182 103 +79

2 Mar Sara Tech 10 6 0 4 181 133 +48
3 Cold Hill University 10 6 0 4 229 148 +81
2 University of Arkinesia 10 6 0 4 137 123 +14
3 University of Iqaluit 10 6 0 4 149 91 +58
4 Universite du Saguenay 10 6 0 4 179 139 +40

It's good for Space to move into the top five on the table as there will be five teams advancing to the playoffs from the non-champions

Its not clear what exactly the choices will be from the non champions though only 3 teams will be guaranteed based on their performance and maybe the non conference games will count and maybe they won't. Space is waiting to hear about any non conference games in the schedule and proposed meetings with Ranselair University and the University of Iqaluit.

If no games are arranged that time then Space will have to hope they have enough points to advance to the playoff or that they are selected by the committee for inclusion in the final 12.
