I'm actually considering how to treat that.
The region's religion basically works around the idea that every family/village/mountain/stream/etc has a god or goddess attached to it. Think like national religions, like the Dimi have X Y Z Gods and the Sesk have A B C gods. Both accept the other's gods exist, its just that they differ over whose are more powerful, etc. Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior as introduced by Joseph is being viewed as a powerful Medicine God from a land far away. Some view him as an ancestral god of Joseph's that came with him on his journey from his distant home. The general view is that Jesus Christ has joined the Dimi's Pantheon. The Jesus Christ spoken of by the Imperials is probably seen as a different God altogether and only Joseph or one of his close disciples who follows the 'true' faith would make the connection. To put it into perspective, perhaps a handful of people accept Christianity in any semblance that we would recognize. The rest merely incorporated Jesus into their preexisting pantheon. After all, Jesus is obviously a powerful god. Look at all the healing Joseph does.
Ah, yes, the hentotheistic pluralism approach. Certainly valid.
I’m just noting that folks at large, beyond the isolated village, may have predispositions and ideas of their own about Christ. Indeed, if you go to major cities or the north, he may already exist in the local pantheons as a god of knowledge or craft, and you’ll start encountering actual monotheistic Christians.
Joseph: Finally I can go to Mass
Peloponnese Theist: Lmao stupid northerners, Jesus is a Healing God.
