This afternoon The SomerNavy Special Forces have been deployed to the Anni Islands today (Monday 16th Ocotber) to help prepare the region for the landfall of storm Abigail. Storm Abigail started life as a small category 1 hurricane out in the southern Corentian sea, the storm has weakened significantly however The Somerlands Meteorological Association (SMA) is estimating winds in excess of 85mph could be experienced from Tuesday onwards.
The Special Forces will now assist the population of the Islands in fortifying buildings, monuments and other potential site of damage. The 2,000 strong unit has left its operational base in Thorsport and will take up residence on Ansval, the largest island, while running missions to the remainder of the islands. Rear Admiral Scott Nielsen was unable to comment but told CWN24 that a news conference was scheduled for 10pm SST once the initial fortifications had been put in place.
Storm Abigail has caused a red sun in The Somerlands
All schools on the islands are to remain closed until further notice, with most transport links to and from the island to be cancelled from midday today onwards. The SMA has issued red warnings for all of the Anni Islands and has also issued amber wind warnings for coastal areas on the Central Gulf.
