I don't believe they should be enslaved, but they also shouldn't be given a high wage (wage really not salary) because they did, after all, commit a crime severe enough to be put in prison. Violent criminals in particular shouldn't be given that much 'privilege', a tiny pittance is good enough.

Maybe by the prison system itself, but they can't be used as prison labor for private individuals or corporations. They have to repay their debt to the State; that's why they are sometimes used for picking up trash along the side of the highway in the U.S. I think they can live thru it.

I believe those only count in violent felonies and/or people convicted of violent felonies who commit a misdemeanor. It's the third time either way.

I'm not going to argue that Trump is racist, but offering up the fact that he hired a black woman isn't a contradiction of potential racism accusations. It's like saying "I'm not racist, I have black friends."
