Those divisions were already starting when Trump came along, he is just making them much worse.

Sadly our side of politics isn't innocent either. Our lovely additions to dividing politics include Identity Politics, de-Platforming and a few others.

It would be nice both us and 'them' could find a way to mend the rift. I'm not sure I'd know how.

Sorry that you don't like talking about the racial angle but it exists and is very relevant to the point of the thread in regards to Trump

Pretty much. The angry white dudes who get triggered by the idea that their demographic only controls 80% of the world now are just going to keep getting louder.

.. It was happening long before Trump and will continue long after him. It's reality. These things always reassert themselves no matter how hard people push back against it. One politician can't create it by himself; I wouldn't give him that much credit for being that capable. He tapped into it, that's all.

Obviously division has long been brewing before Trump. I'm saying he is exacerbating it.

Cute, but it also mentions the fact that a teacher was charged for harassing Kessler. So, he may have some rights after all. Much to some people's chagrin.

Everyone has civil rights, until convicted, and I don't think he should have any less rights until convicted.

Cute, but it also mentions the fact that a teacher was charged for harassing Kessler. So, he may have some rights after all. Much to some people's chagrin.

And it also mentions that the charges were dropped:

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WCAV) — Jason Kessler, the organizer of the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, has been indicted by an Albemarle County grand jury on a felony perjury charge.

According to court records, the charge stems from a sworn statement he made in January.

Kessler gave a statement to a magistrate on Jan. 23, 2017, claiming that he was assaulted by James Taylor on the Downtown Mall while trying to gather signatures for his petition to get Wes Bellamy removed from the Charlottesville City Council.

However, Kessler later pleaded guilty to assaulting Taylor and charges were dismissed against Taylor.

Kessler admitted to punching Taylor in the face after a confrontation over his petition.

"He and his buddy came over, they scribbled on my petition and vandalized it," said Kessler. "James didn't want to have a conversation with me, he yelled you're a....and he called me a name. I felt threatened and I hit him to get him away from me."

On the other hand, Taylor says he was simply killing time on the mall with his dog and a cup of coffee.

"He handed me his clipboard so I could read it and I handed it back to him," said Taylor. "I said what I said to him and he didn't like it."

Taylor and Kessler both say curse words were exchanged before Kessler punched Taylor in the face, busting his lip.

Kessler went on to say, "Man to man, yell in a man's face and expect to get punched in the face."

When asked in April about the dropped charges and his accusations of assault against Taylor, Kessler walked away from reporters.

"I'll admit that what I did was not legal," Kessler said earlier that day, though. "I was having a bad day. I've never done anything like this before and it will never happen again."

That's the entire article you linked.

A confrontation between two people means that he doesn't believe that people have rights? How is the fact that the charges were dropped a good thing? He may not be able to get a fair trial because of his beliefs himself, but others can.

It seems fair that the charges of someone assaulting him were dropped because said assault was scribbling on a piece of paper, and he responded by actually assaulting the person he brought claims against?

Jason Eric Kessler (born September 22, 1983)[1] is a white nationalist and a political activist for the Alt-Right. He is known for being the main organizer of the pan-white nationalist Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

A man attempts to confront you because he doesn't like what you believe, something that is important to you, and you don't react at all? Harassment was still involved This was just a way to railroad the guy. This comes down to being his word against the other man's. Who can prove who is telling the truth?

He organized the Nazi rally- oh, sorry, the "white supremacist rally", in Charlottesville. Methinks he's not a communist.
