Oregon almost voted Bush? Huh

Also, apparently it isn't that shocking Wisconsin is close in an election.

And man has New Mexico shifted.

The politics of 2000 are a lot different than the politics of today; Oregon was a *lot* more conservative at the time.

Alright Mr. Surveyor, you head out there and make sure that the site is secure and a good spot to build on and there won't be any seeping of transuranics into the groundwater and that absolutely no one will go full NIMBY

People went "NIMBY" already over Yucca and every other place you can name. So what. I don't think it would be much of sacrifice to make if they had to lose the privilege of racing there or the half-assed park that is comprised of bleached white salt flats and little else.

So far (and he's only been in office a little over 8 months) I think he is less pro big business than Bush was, and Obama's the one who bailed out corporations that could've been, maybe should have been, allowed to fail.

That's a lie. She does not say they are getting no help. She begs for help, and complains about bureaucracy, and says she's done being politically correct...man, you'd think that Republicans would fucking love this.

I'm three and a half minutes and she's talking about supplies she got that she sent to another town. I'm not going to watch all of this while I'm at work, so unless you want to tell me at what time in that video she says that they are getting no help, then I'm just going to stand on this being a lie that you are spreading. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you're just repeating a lie that you were told, rather than actively trying to deceive us yourself.

On your first point....
The "meaningless numbers" as you call them, show Trump is doing everything in his power as President to help, a far cry from the claim he is "not helping" because "racism"

They don't show that Trump is doing everything in his power as President to help. It shows that FEMA and other agencies are doing things. We cannot conclude from that fact alone that they are doing everything in their power, nor that Trump is doing everything in his power.
On the second point, she is begging for help, and it is there, but instead she is inflaming the situation, making distributing aid even harder than it would be otherwise.

I dare you to explain how her begging for more help makes distributing aid harder. I fucking dare you.

In fact, Trump temporarily waives the Jones act to further try to help. To get more supplies to Puerto Rico.

Yeah, he waived it eventually. after being pressured into it.
But...Trump just doesn't want to help cause he's racist, I guess.

I find that perfectly plausible. Not in the sense that he's cackling like some evil villain while brown people die, but that he wouldn't be doing anything if he didn't have to. He clearly thinks this is Puerto Rico's own fault.
Trump is helping with actions, she is disrupting aid efforts with her speaking points.

How is she disrupting anything?
I'll admit, error on my part. She begs for aid insinuating they are getting little to no aid, but she did not specifically say they haven't received aid.
So a lapse in accuracy on my part unintentionally.

Begging for help doesn't imply that Puerto Rico is getting little to no aid. Only that, in her assessment as Mayor of San Juan, they need more help.
But....The truth is she is spreading the lie with her insinuation of little to no aid that America (under Trump leadership) has abandoned Puerto Rico due to nefarious racist reasons.

Clearly that is what you want us to believe she is doing. The facts do not support that conclusion.

Here's where I'm going to cut you off and have a discussion about how to mislead with facts.

It is absolutely true that Trump suspended the Jones Act. It's a common practice in situations like this. So common in fact it doesn't make the news, really. Trump also suspended the Jones Act for Texas and Florida.

What's newsworthy about the suspension of the Jones Act and why we all suddenly know what it is revolves on when Trump suspended the Jones Act.

For Florida and Texas, immediately. For Puerto Rico a week after pressure from relief groups and mounting bad press for not doing this most basic of bureaucratic gestures. Do I give him credit for being shamed into doing his job siting "shipping companies didn't want him to?"

Does the fact that he did it mean he's doing his best or the fact that he had to be shamed into doing it evidence of him doing a shitty job?

Context is everything.

Clearly that is what you want us to believe she is doing. The facts do not support that conclusion.

Point by point..
Point 1-
Trump declared a state of emergency days before the hurricane hit, in preparation for the damage to come.
What...is he supposed to land Comic book style and personally hand out supplies?
Of course if he orders FEMA to help, that is him doing everything in his power as president to help.
Unlike other presidents that refused to declare a state of emergency and allowed Americans to die due to lack of aid.
Point 2-
By implying help is not coming, she inflames the constituents to feel like they are in a life or death situation, and this can cause relief efforts to be in danger of being attacked as locals try to make sure they get relief.
If there are not enough supplies, chaos ensues as people fight over dwindling resources. Compounded by the local truckers union on strike, this causes a "every man for himself" mentality.
Inflaming the local population totally makes distribution harder.
Point 3-
K.....Who pressured him?
Point 4-
Nothing I say, no amount of facts, will ever convince you Trump isn't racist. Moving on I guess...
Point 5-
Look at point 2. Also, the local Truckers union is on strike due to policies she passed that they disagreed with.

But..they have finally agreed to deliver the supplies.

Point 6-
She insinuates there is not enough help for everyone. Thus, implying there is little to no aid, causing her to beg for aid.
Otherwise, why beg? Why not work with local FEMA officials on the ground, to let them know? Oh yea, she has refused to meet with FEMA.
Point 7-
We'll agree to disagree.
The government in America can best be described with an analogy. The two political parties are two cats, the elite is a rat, power is the cheese, and the common people is the floor. The floor feels two cats can guard the cheese better than one. But the cats fight each other, and the rat makes off with the cheese in glee. Because of greed of local authorities...
From article
"Florida, which has no oil refineries and little pipeline infrastructure, obtains much of its gasoline by ship from refineries in Louisiana and Texas. After Trump lifted the Jones Act for Florida, a customer canceled a contract with Crowley for gasoline delivery and bought instead from a foreign flag vessel. The switch had nothing to do with availability of the tanker, he said."
Although in disaster, I feel that the corruption that comes with waiving the Jones act is worth the help received....to imply this is due to ill intent... is disingenuous.

So waiving the Jones act can cost American jobs.
My preference is on helping, even if jobs are lost.

For a week, while Puerto Rican's suffered, he dithered on a simple almost automatic response in favor of profits until the exposure became too much and he gave in. Yes. Shamed into doing his job.

For a week, while Puerto Rican's suffered, he dithered on a simple almost automatic response in favor of profits until the exposure became too much and he gave in. Yes. Shamed into doing his job.

Wait, Trump is biologically capable of feeling shame?
Crimes committed by Muslims will be a pan-Islamic plot and proof of Islam's inherent evil. On the other hand crimes committed by non-Muslims will merely be the acts of loners who do not represent their belief system at all.
The probability of one's participation in homosexual acts is directly proportional to one's public disdain and disgust for homosexuals.
If a political figure makes an accusation of wrongdoing without evidence, odds are probable that the accuser or an associate thereof has in fact committed the very same act, possibly to a worse degree.

No, I think somebody sent him a social media message telling him that he was not as compassionate as Obama, and it naturally enraged him and he swore he'd be more compassionate than all previous presidents combined, and it'd be grand.

I dare you to explain how her begging for more help makes distributing aid harder. I fucking dare you.

Yeah, he waived it eventually. after being pressured into it.

I find that perfectly plausible. Not in the sense that he's cackling like some evil villain while brown people die, but that he wouldn't be doing anything if he didn't have to. He clearly thinks this is Puerto Rico's own fault.

How is she disrupting anything?

Begging for help doesn't imply that Puerto Rico is getting little to no aid. Only that, in her assessment as Mayor of San Juan, they need more help.

Trump declared a state of emergency before Hurricane Maria hit. Did he do so early enough? Did he do so of his own accord or was he pressured into it?
Point 2-
By implying help is not coming

She did not imply that, as I have explained.
she inflames the constituents to feel like they are in a life or death situation, and this can cause relief efforts to be in danger of being attacked as locals try to make sure they get relief.
If there are not enough supplies, chaos ensues as people fight over dwindling resources. Compounded by the local truckers union on strike, this causes a "every man for himself" mentality.
Inflaming the local population totally makes distribution harder.

Do you think that people in Puerto Rico who lack food and water are watching CNN?
Point 3-
K.....Who pressured him?

Members of Congress. Various relief agencies. Members of the public. They're mentioned in the article you linked.
Point 4-
Nothing I say, no amount of facts, will ever convince you Trump isn't racist. Moving on I guess...

I like to think that no amount of facts could convince me of something that isn't true, but that's not very likely. In this particular instance, no, I doubt there is anything you could say to convince me that Donald Trump isn't a racist, no more than you could convince me that the Sun is actually a cosmic firefly.
Point 5-
Look at point 2. Also, the local Truckers union is on strike due to policies she passed that they disagreed with.

The truckers are in a dispute with FEMA. As Mayor of San Juan she controls neither organisation.

Wonderful.
Point 6-
She insinuates there is not enough help for everyone. Thus, implying there is little to no aid, causing her to beg for aid.

Begging for aid does not imply that there is little to no aid. Only that there is not enough. Can you say definitively that there was, when she said this, enough aid being provided to Puerto Rico?
Otherwise, why beg? Why not work with local FEMA officials on the ground, to let them know? Oh yea, she has refused to meet with FEMA.

She obviously is working with FEMA. She talks about receiving aid from them.

So I looked at the 2000 election because that was a close one. I ordered by margin.

http://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/data ... =0&elect=0

5 states were within 1% - Florida, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Iowa and Oregon.

Well that completely destroys the claim it's "statistically impossible" and if San Lumen still wants to maintain the vote was rigged they'll need some other argument for that.

Really if you think about it, states being very close results would be evidence of the opposite! Because very close results generally trigger an audit or recount by state law. If you could rig a state result you'd go hard to avoid that.

Still, I did look up some other elections to see whether maybe 2000 was an outlier, and it sort of is:

1996 No states within 1%

2000 5 states as you say

2004 3 states within 1%

2008 3 states within 1%

2012 just 1 state (FL) within 1%

2016 4 states within 1%

It's fair to say 4 states being that close is unusual. Not impossible, and not so unusual as to be suspicious.

You can't just dump transuranics in the middle of nowhere and be like "cool that's taken care of now"

They had the same concern about how much Yucca Mountain leaked, or would leak into the surrounding desert floor, thereby causing groundwater water to be contaminated when it rained...in the desert. The enemy of the good if the perfect. If people live 'nearby', if necessary, use eminent domain for the good of the country. I'd like to know how close "nearby" is.

Yes, use eminent domain for the good of the country! But do it with Yucca Mountain where the money has already been spent to build a facility, don't start over with an objectively inferior site in Utah.

Well the idea of permanently storing mixed waste just the way it comes out of the reactors is rather dumb. But I think we just have to accept that the added cost and the NIMBY effect make it impossible to separate let alone reprocess all the existing waste, and for now the issue of waste storage (not "disposal") must be framed as a choice between storing existing waste in one big secure facility, or leaving it where it is stored in reactor buildings. And this whether or not new reactors are built. Whether or not existing reactors are shut down. The waste exists already, if it's not going to be reprocessed it must be stored somehow ... no amount of hippy handwaving will make it just go away.

Congress failed to renew a policy to provide low-cost healthcare for 9 million children

Let's not pretend that any of the Republicans flaunting of "think of the children" ever had any damn truth to it.

See, we should only think of the children insofar as teaching them "good" morals is concerned, none of that homosexuality stuff on TV, that's liberal SJW brainwashing.

That's too much waste of money! We should only think of the children when they're still unborn. Once they come out, they're just lazy moochers that need to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps!
