The World in 2050 Nations RP



Hello and welcome to my 2050 RP, I will be your OP. This RP is centered around what the world will be like in the year 2050. Players will take command of a nation and work your way through the economic, diplomatic and military landscape of the near future. Players will be able to define their nation’s progress over the past 30+ years, within reason. It must be believable progress and development, and must not contradict other players, additionally I will be providing a few benchmarks in history such as the fracturing of the Russian Federation. While I established the fracturing it happens in the 2020s and you may rebuild the nation afterwards from 2030 to 2050.

I will be playing the United States but don’t worry it’s not an OP nation. The United States is by no means the premiere superpower it once was but is still strong, and most importantly isolationist. This will not change unless we pick up a significant number of players.

There was no WW3 or alien invasion
There is an international moon base and space elevator is built in northern Brazil
NO AI, In general keep tech advancements reasonable
Post frequency, if you can’t post much thats okay just don’t take an important nation
No OP nations, even the strongest nation has weaknesses make sure you include them

Asia is divided between the factions of Japan, and China, with India staying neutral and despite a number of advantages is crippled by its low level of human capital
Britain creates a new financial system A reformed financial system allows British entrepreneurs to get the committed financial backing they need, becoming the capitalist leaders in Europe, the United States quickly adopts a similar system which helps it recover economically
U.S. residents who identify themselves as being 2042 Hispanic or Latino, African American, Asian, Pacific Islander, and Native American will collectively outnumber those who identify as being white of non-Hispanic origin.
2040 Aids Vaccine is introduced and the growth of Aids is cut by 99%

Antarctica has a number of permanent “colonies” to extract resources
China and the US cooperate to build a massive global geoengineering project in the late 2040’s this combined with the growth of alternative energies and weather control efforts helps check global warming

80% of the world legalizes gay marriage
International moon base and space elevator are built. Space Elevator based in Brazil and moon base has close to 100 people at all times
Denmark's energy supply is supplied only by renewable energies in 2050, One third of the world's energy is solar another third relies on other renewable energies.

History since 2017:
Korea, the land of never ending war and ceasefires. Or at least that is what it looked in 2017. The North and South had been at ends for nearly 100 years before it finally came to an end.
North Korean nuclear tests had began to worry the Government of south Korea and with increased NATO presence Korea was preparing for war. In 2020 the capital was relocated to the newly built Sejong City, pushes were made to keep the military as modern as possible. Propaganda, mass conscription, military drills, and misses were all prepared across both nations. It both seemed that war would come before 2025. Yet nothing happened.
The North despite its nuclear weapon testing eventually backed down in 2025, claiming in its own propaganda that using nuclear weapons would 'destroy Kim Ill-Sung's image of Korea.' While the South hailed it as a victory and created peace. The two nations just carried on as normal.
Talks were held between the two nations and they agreed to have the nation unified before 100 year anniversary of the start of the Korean War. This lead onto a series of debates and talks between the two nations. This included a revival of Kim-Il sung's Confederal Republic of Koryo, which was strangely pushed by the South, the North rejected in.
In 2032 North Korea collapsed on 8th of January. The 50th birthday of Kim Jong-Un, when the military launched a coup against him, killing him and hoping to install his brother Kim Jong-chul. Who declined and thus the only option was setting up its own state of uniting with the South. Following pressures from the South the two stated united. Elections were held the following year and the then acting present was re-elected again hailed as a hero of unification. However in the north generals has been pushing rulership from the North, starting a small rebel group with Kim loyalists, they have existed since then but have played very little in issues.
In 2035 construction of the new capital, Joseon city began in the location of the Dorasan train station, as an honour to reunification and to act as a new centralised area for the government to operate out off. However this was only part of the massive 'Northern Revival Program' that put Korea in its massive debt it currently is within, and the later and further debt of China hadn't helped. However it became close friends with Japan and joined its East Asian Alliance in order to help curb its issues and maintain peace in Asia. This was alongside a series of liberal reforms, such as legalisation of communism (2034), same sex marriage (2025), voting reforms (2036), and welfare, across 2025 to 2038.
In 2045, current President Hwang Kyung-Soo was elected. He has since being Korea's youngest president (aged only 34) and Korea's first gay president, marrying fellow party member and lawyer Kwak Jin-Young. He has been putting an end to inequalities across the nation, meeting the Kim Loyalists for talks, and ensuring Korea is a technological power. Come 2050 he won the elections again, entering his second term hoping to ensure a peaceful future for Korea.

GDP: 20.539 billion
Public Debt: 1.5 trillion (due to modernisation processes)
Military Description: Korea has been known to be one of the few nations to still have conscription for its general population, however this ended in 2046 leading onto a more volunteer based military at a compromise. The national guard still relies on conscription in order to keep Korea safe from foreign invasions. Equipment is modern and often Asian made, (korean or Japanese) alongside NATO (or whatever the equivalent is) equipment.

In 2020 the South Korean capital was relocated to Sejong City over fears that a war would start between the two states before 2025.
The capital city is now located in what is currently known as Dorasan Train Station, post reunification this became the centre sight for the Joseon City project which later became the capital city of the new unified Korea. This started in 2035 and while the city is still under construction the government has operated out of the city since 2048.This is mainly due to the city being mostly completed.
Joseon City gains its name from the longest Korean state/Kingdom.
Korean unification has caused a lot of issues for Korea in terms of rehabilitation and modernisation of the North which has cost the country millions. The Chinese debt certainly hasn't helped this, and resulted in its own debt increasing.
Despite the debt, Korea is still well known as a technological powerhouse.
Some northern parts of the nation have small areas held out by small radical rebel groups seeking to restore the Kim family to power.

History since 2017: The economy of many Balkan states crashed after a devaluation of the Euro in 2018 after a second failed Catalonian secession led to Spanish bureaucrats pushing for an embargo on the autonomous region by all EU member states. The signs of the fall of the EU was becoming apparent. This led to a domino effect where newly independent nation of Scotland embargoed Spain. The fall of the Spanish economy on December 30th, 2019 pulled the other Southern European economies with it, worsening continental stability. The unprecedented influx of Muslim immigrants from the Middle East inflamed tensions between Christians and Muslims within the area as Muslims already living there became radicalized and as Christians became more protective of their faith. The region devolved into religious riots and violence. The violence was decried as "religious persecution" throughout most of the West. As the years progressed, in 2025, the hyper-conservative Pope Leo XIV called for the "salvation of the lost heathens" by allowing the "mercy of the Lord to call upon them" using men as "the holy tool of their salvation" and their "departure of this worldly realm to the one of heaven." This was seen by many to be the call of a Crusade, leading for the increased violence in the region and the simultaneous rise in atheism in the area, especially in young people.
