Damn I know, they had to put me on a waiting list with thousands of other people all in line to get that haircut.

As for the OP question, I'm hoping he fails at most of his major plans but doesn't ruin the US in the journey. Also I hope he learns when to successfully not tweet like an angry twelve year old.

Oh, IM. You never cease to amaze me with your incredibly shallow view on life. I'm beginning to think you are a sentient parody.

Some people say the depth of a person's success can be summarised by the size of their wallet. However, I think that's grossly over-simplifying things. You should also consider fame, power, beauty etc. On the issue of wealth its also complicated... after all, someone may have very little in the bank and in their wallet but still be an absolute god with tons of liquid properties and land per say. Who's to say he's not worth millions/billions?
Well here's a more simplified test (to see if someone is successful or not).
Can this person... tomorrow... on an absolute whim... buy a Big House and a Big Car? By "Big" I mean something in the top price ranges.
If someone has a Big House and a Big Car and he's not remotely stretched financially, I'd say he's earned some measure of success.
And by that metric, Trump passes the test in spades.
I mean, there are entire buildings named after him for God's sake...

I disagree; success isn't something that can be measured so easily.
Say you have two guys, A and B. A grew up below the poverty line. He hails from a single-parent home and lives in a shitty rental apartment in the middle of nowhere, and because his unemployed mother is stroke-bound, funds are really tight. B, on the other hand, comes from a wealthy family; both his parents are big time stock brokers with tons of connections, and they're more than willing to throw money at their son in anything he does.
Now, let's say that A manages to break out of the poverty cycle; he gets a diploma, finds himself a moderate-paying but decent job, and eventually manages to get himself a house after much saving. Simultaneously, B, despite his family's influence and wealth, doesn't do that great; even though he starts his business with vast amounts of resources, it doesn't do as well as he hopes, and while he's far richer than A in pretty much every area, B's wealth is nowhere near what it could potentially have reached.
Who, then, is the more successful one?

Grenartia wrote:Nope, don't want him to succeed. I once heard a comparison of not wanting the president to succeed as being like not wanting a pilot to fly the plane safely to its destination. To that I say, in this case, its more like not wanting that one guy who flew a plane into a mountain on purpose a few years ago to succeed in doing so.

B probably?
Is this a trick question?

Networth is such a neoliberal definition of successful.
See, one is successful when they accomplish their own goals in life and be content with it. Given Trumps frequent angry rants, I don't think he's content.

so I can just set a very low goal and call myself as successful as those in the highest networth range?

I feel like that's the equivalent of playing Ranked League, never getting past Bronze, and then saying "I am successful regardless because my only goal was to have fun and beat Bronze II."
I mean, it feels like self-deception
