Character Application.

NS Name: Tectonix
Roleplay Sample: Chaos in Altis

Character Name: Daniel Entemont
Character Age: 24
Character Gender: Male
Character Personality: Daniel is generally regarded as a likable, charismatic and resourceful man, but his time in isolation has caused his empathetic characteristics to deteriorate — preferably this would be expanded upon ICly.
Appearance: Standing at 5'5'', Daniel is of mixed white-Latino ethnicity, with a tanned complexion and a reasonably muscular build. He has tousled brown hair, a thin beard, stormy-grey eyes and a double scar running from his right temple to his right ear. When out in the open, he wears a greyish-white fur coat, long black pants, leather boots and padded black gloves. When inside his home, he'll stick with a plaid button-up shirt, a pair of heavily ripped jeans and a tan-colored pair of Sperry's. His clothing is scavenged from nearby abandoned stores and homes, so some articles, like his jeans, tend to not fit very well. However, his clothing usually has several oddly-placed patches, his own handiwork to make sure he doesn't end up shivering to death.

Character Backstory: Daniel was barely in elementary school when the outbreak occurred. Living in the cold, sub-Arctic city of Anchorage, Alaska allowed him and his family to escape at first, living in his grandfather's cabin near Fairbanks, but that would not last. His father was the first to be infected, choosing to kill himself by throwing himself off a bridge instead of returning home. Some weeks later, his older sister was also infected, but was not aware of the fact when she returned home. All of Daniel's family members were quickly killed by the ravenous disease — all except him, one of the few immune people in the city.

Daniel was barely 13 by the time his last family member — his mother — passed into the void. Her dying words were "if only I'd gotten to see you happy, one last time..." Faced with either starvation or hypothermia, Daniel suited up as best he could and left the cabin, hiking his way to the city proper of Fairbanks. He was about to rob an abandoned gas station when he was jumped in the alley by several masked individuals and knocked unconscious. When he woke up, he found himself tied up to a chair, and asked a series of questions about who he was, where he'd come from, why he was alone, etc. The masked person speaking with him, after Daniel told him how his mother died in front of him, got up and spoke behind a closed door with several unknown figures. When he came back, he presented Daniel with a choice: either join him and the rest of his team, or live alone in Fairbanks with no one to help him. Faced with no choice, Daniel joined the masked man's team.

Daniel stayed with the ragtag team of 12 other immune teenagers and young adults for a full seven years, in which they would go town-by-town, searching for supplies and stopping the occasional crime. They became Daniel's family, his former taken away from his so young. During their spare time, some of the formerly college students of the team would provide Daniel with as best of an education as they could afford, what with no textbooks or internet-capable devices. Daniel tried to learn as best as he could anyways, especially when they taught him wilderness and urban survival skills, especially for northern places like Alaska. He was also taught how to use a gun, and became a proficient game hunter to provide food for the rest of the team.

However, one day, the thirteen of them were in a stolen ferry, headed from Anchorage to Juneau. As they neared the former capital city, the now twenty-year old Daniel was throwing paper airplanes off the starboard side of the boat. One of the paper airplanes flew off, only to loop back around and nesrly knock Daniel's glasses off. In trying to grab the paper airplane, he lost his balance and tumbled into the cold northern waters of the Alaskan Archipelago, as the ferry sped rapidly along on its course. As the boat sailed farther and farther away, the distraught Daniel swam desperately towards the nearest island he could see. He barely made it to the rocky shores of that island before he passed out.

Waking up near 9:00 AM, Daniel tried to pick himself up and explore the island a little more. It took him less than a minute to realise he was in Yakutat, Alaska, a relatively small town with what appeared to be no immune people left. He found a nice, abandoned oceanfront house and took up residence in it, collapsing on the bed from exhaustion. When he woke up, he immediately set out to find some food — although the local grocery store was certainly abundant, Daniel knew that it would not last him. Alone in an entire town, he easily located the local home improvement store, and used an idle mover's truck to move a portable greenhouse from the store to his new house. There were multiple greenhouses at the store, and soon enough, Daniel had a full area of twelve greenhouses — three inside, nine outside. All very close to his house and away from the ocean, so as to be as little exposed to the elements as possible. He grew a small portion of potatoes and carrots to start off with, but, as the weeks progressed and he realised he was genuinely, truly stranded there, he began to make improvements.

By now, Daniel has lived four years in the barren town. His greenhouses produce a nourishing and steady supply of food, and all non-perishable food from the long-exhausted grocery store are neatly stored in a neighboring home. For protein, he fly fishes in nearby streams, and occasionally tries his hand at deepwater fishing for halibut. To retain his sanity, he has begun reading books from the local library, along with the small collections of the abandoned homes. He does have a boat available to him, and frequently visits Juneau (which has a small yet active immune population) to talk and generally interact with other people. However, he never found his friends again, and gave up on finding them a year ago.

Character Equipment: When in Yakutat, he has two rifles, a doubled-barreled shotgun, an impressive collection of hunting knifes and a bow and arrow. However, when traveling, he usually only takes a rifle, hunting knife and the bow and arrow — on occasion, he does take an ax, though this is only for rare occurrences.
Character Supplies: He has a steady supply of food from his greenhouses, and since he's so close to nearby Alaskan rivers, freshwater is never a concern. When travelling, his backpack carries both food and water, and a small first aid kit of bandages, gauze, a small hunting knife that he sharpened until it could pass for a scalpel, a vial of iso-alcohol and two bottles of painkillers.
Other Information: He may want to venture out sometime soon to Seattle, as well as find a proper, long-distance boat to travel across the Pacific.

Bones and his crew are headed south-east towards Denver. So, it looks like we might meet in Denver... or well, Bones might sit tight and camp outside of Denver or in some abandoned building while Mouse looks for people, if she can find them.

I think Jimmy meeting Bones and his crew would be interesting.

Jimmy is definitely not afraid of a fight, and is also very charming, so I think theres a chance he might either prove himself as Strong and have to try and escape, or he may be able to charm his way out. He's also a jack of all trades type, so its possible there could be a trade off of some sort. Jimmy does some sort of task or fixes some sort of thing in exchange for freedom.

Who knows? :)

Accepted, but expect to be lonely in the far North-West!

I feel like I repeated some words way more than I should've in that last post, but my brain is a bit boggled right now and thinking of words for wolf was boggling me ever more (the power of tiredness).

I put her near Denver as otherwise everyone in the RP is just wandering around on their own.

CODE: SELECT ALL
Character Application.

NS Name: Granis

Roleplay Sample: <Gods Among Us>

Character Name: Alexander Washburn

Character Age: (Minimum 14.) 24

Character Gender: Male

Character Personality:
Alexander is a fairly outgoing guy, finding it pretty easy to talk to people. He enjoys showing hospitality whenever he can, helping people out simply because he enjoys it. However, he also kind of likes messing with people. Usually this involves relatively harmless jokes, but some things make it difficult for people to see it so simply. His chosen outfit, for example. While his original reason for wearing it was to try and scare of potential attackers, he continued to wear it when he realised how its intimidating nature contrasted with his friendly personality, confusing and surprising people. Plus, he enjoys the way it makes him seem mysterious.

His kind nature doesn't mean he won't enjoy a good fight though, and while he does generally attempt to deal with altercations through diplomacy first, it doesn't take much to start a fight. It's not that he's an angry person, so much as he finds fighting fun!

Appearance:
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/b2/24/19/b224 ... acters.jpg

It isn't shown in the picture, but he's about 7 feet tall.

Character Background
Alex had a surprisingly normal life growing up in the post apocalyptic landscape of the Canadian Rockies. He lived with his father, mother and younger sister, all of whom were miraculously immune to the flu, in a small wooden cabin high in the mountains, where they managed to eek out a life as hunter gatherers.

He was taught how to use a bow at a young age, using it to hunt many of the large animals in the mountains, as well as how to do things like fish, garden and forage for food. Those, along with what self defence his parents could teach him, had left him pretty well suited to life after civilisations fall.

However, there was one thing that Alex could never get out of his head. You see, Alex liked to read a lot, and a large amount of the books he read through his childhood involved the hero just generally being a good person and helping people when they needed it. Sure, some of the heroes were also abrasive jackasses, but in the end they were still good enough to help people anyway. But he knew that, down the mountains, people were still suffering from the lasting effects of the apocalypse.

So, one night, Alex left his family's cabin, determined to do what he could to help keep people safe with his homemade bow. Before he left, he made sure to write a note to his family to let them know of his decision.

As he traveled, he began to create a suit of armour from cloth and metal he found. It was difficult to find the right materials for sewing it all together at first, but he knew how to improvise. Eventually, it became more and more elaborate, until he had a proper suit of armour. The gas mask components were merely aesthetic, but he figured it looked cooler that way. He was also able to scavenge a few potential weapons together.

He has now been travelling for seven years, meeting many strange and interesting people in the process.

Character Equipment:
One of homemade junk armour
One junk cloak
One homemade bow
One homemade quiver
Thirty makeshift arrows
One sledgehammer
One backpack

Character Supplies:
Five large pieces of homemade jerky
One canteen of water
One makeshift waterskin
One copy of Magician by Raymond E. Feist
Twenty feet of rope
Two spools of thread
Three small, makeshift fishing hooks
One small makeshift pot
One small makeshift pan

Other Information:
He really enjoys fishing.

I'm guessing they were either - terrible navigators, given electronic maps don't work aboard the ships anymore or, they just got lost.

So do you want to introduce the main bad guy now?
Or after the people around Denver meet each other?

Depends whoever's first to work out that they're the bad-guy. Or should I say bad-guys. They've not yet been introduced, but it will depend on who works it out - since I'll probably introduce a range of characters for different reasons.

Also @Dyelli, the axe was removed from the wolf's head during the fight. ;)

I remember on the End, I never managed to find the others, so I just app'd for multiple characters and basically wrote my own story as I slowly edged closer to everyone else.

Wasn't Ketchikan north of Juneau? Guess my memory has failed me...

Yeah, I was running on memory when I did that, so I probably subconsciously inverted their locations. I'll change it to Yakutat, which at least has a functional airport and harbor which he can use to get to Juneau.

Lost, probably, but Ketchikan is simply too far south for it to be plausible. Hopefully my edit is canonically sound.
