The prosperous capital of Mercedini is the stage for the Mercedinian campaign for World Cup Qualification. The Zoloroni Sports City Stadium was built in 2012 and has been the national team's home stadium since it was built. The stadium used to hold over 61,000 people, but a recent refurbishment meant that the capacity has increased by approximately 13,000 with the new capacity sitting at roughly 74,500 with the new visiting allocation still being just less than a quarter of that at 18,000. The stadium has hosted a Baptism of Fire final and an Independent's Cup third-place play-off, those matches acombined with the fact that it's hosts Zoloroni City on a weekly basis and the national team on an annual basis means the stadium is accustomed to regular football featuring the nation's and the multiverse's best teams. Mercedinians and visiting spectators who don't have tickets can have a drink in one of the many bars and pubs or they can chill in the World Cup FanZone where they can watch the matches on the big screens along with other football enthusiasts. Mercedinians are generally very peaceful and welcoming to tourists and will only get violent if they are provoked. Cuisine-wise, Mercedinian food is based on Italian cuisine, with flavourful pasta and rice dishes along with stuffed flatbreads and pizzas perfect for carnivores and vegetarians alike, local cuisine will also be available for tourists who want a taste of home. The first ever season of the Mercedinian Super League kicked off with a bang as ten teams looked to lift the Super League trophy, with the top four guaranteeing themselves a place in the Hockey Champions League next season. With the format being a home and way round robin, eighteen matches were played by each team, and at the end of all that, it was HK Dynamo Shebchetsik who came out on top in the MSL Exhibition League.

By only losing two games throughout the entirety of the season, Shebchetsik lifts the trophy with a three point margin over their rivals Zoloroni City Icers. They will be joined by the capital team who showed that money doesn't by you success as they could only muster a second place finish to a team to have a smaller budget and smaller infrastructure compared to the Icers. They will likely have to go through a qualifying stage to get into the HCL Group Stages, something which HK Dynamo Shebchetsik will not have to do thanks to placing first in the league. A surprise entry in third place sees lowly fancied AHC Langtree grab third place in the league after a tight six-horse race for the final two Champions League spots, their seven wins and seven draws kept them in the race until the very end and their final day draw against the Zoloroni City Icers. Finally, rounding out the top four is the shock of the league in the Zoloroni Sports City Youth Academy. The coaches and trainers have done a stellar job at the club, picking up points against professional teams and projecting them up the table into fourth place and a Champion's League berth against some of the multiverse's biggest clubs. For these teams, it will be a jam packed season for them with HCL fixtures to go along with all of the league fixtures.

At the other end of the table, it was a two horse race as the Darlaston Wolves and Zholvi HC battled with each other in a wooden spoon dogfight to avoid a hypothetical playoff against a team from the second division. After changing hands many times, it was Zholvi HC who finished bottom of the table, meaning it will be them who many will be keeping an eye on as a relegation candidate. Both Zholvi and the Wolves will need to improve if they are to avoid the drop in later seasons, but with the Exhibition Season now over and relegation playoff positions now coming into force for the upcoming season, teams will have to bring their A-game to secure their spot in the Mercedinian Super Legaue

Second & Third Qualifying Rounds

Today, the Mercedinian season formally kicks off as the final rounds of MFA Cup Qualifying coming to fruition. Sixteen teams who have already gone through one round of qualification will battle out for the four spots remaining in the MFA Cup proper. All teams involved in qualifying are two matches away from facing one of the nation's larger clubs and four matches away from potentially playing a MPL club. Team from the MPL, the two National Leagues and all the teams in Non-League will all face off in this seasons domestic trophy and only one team will come out as the victors of this season's MFA Cup. The fixtures involving league teams will be intermingled throughout the league calendar, and if matches result in a tie, the reverse fixture will be played in a replay. If the replay results in a tie after regulation time, then it will run to extra time and penalties if need be.

The first publicised round of the MFA Cup kicked off with a bang as eight fixtures featuring sixteen hopefuls were played across the country with eight of those advancing to the third and final qualifying round. Thirty-two goals were scored in the round plus the three scored in a replay gave the fans plenty to enjoy at their big day out in the cup. You needed to travel up north to find the largest margin of victory in the round, with Ozaaya Agranka putting six past Lena Brava at home to the delight of the home fans and putting themselves on the radar as a team to avoid for the next round. There were also big wins for Moorland & Tersham, Ansav, Colwyn Park Avenue, Yushek, Austerplatz, Maaston, and Union Metropolitano who needed a replay to get past Polizia Nazionale after a 1-1 draw. The teams who won are now one win away from the cup proper where the big boys begin to filter into the competition. It's a great time to be a fan of one of these teams.

At the end of the third qualifying round of the MFA Cup, we finally knew which four teams would go on to face the big boys in the first round proper. Ansav Town, who followed up their 4-1 win away at Monmouth United with a 2-0 win at home against FC Austerplatz. They will be joined by Moorland & Tersham who, in a high scoring affair, breezed past replay survivors Union Metropolitano 4-2 in a frantic end to a match between the two non-league teams. Despite the fixture list being half as long as the pervious round, we had twice the number of replays thanks to a goaless draw between Maaston and Yushek and a high scoring affair between Ozzaya Agranka and Colwyn which saw the teams come away with a two-all draw. In those replays, it ended up with Ozzaya Agranka and Yushek Island reigning victorious who all booked their spots to face teams from National League 2 (third-tier) who all join in at the next stage.

The first round draw threw up some interesting ties with the main headline being only one qualifier being drawn at home. Ansav Town will entertain their own fans which should be a cracking day out for the fans, they will face Loftenshire Southerners in their first round tie. The other three qualifiers will have to travel for their first round fixtures. Moorland & Tersham will go to St. Austell Town, Ozzaya Agranka will take the long long trip to Anston and finally Yushek Island, the final team to be drawn out of the hat, will go to the capital to face third-tier Zoloroni Park in their match. Other than that, the matches will all feature two National League 2 teams as we narrow down the field before the teams from National League 1 will enter the fray for the second round.

The first match day of the MPL season kicked off with a bang with the sixteen teams kicking off in eight matches across the country, eager to get their hands on the opening three points of the campaign. The performance of the day went to Langtree United who opened their campaign with a 4-0 thumping away to East Kilbride United, placing them at the top of the table after one match. There were also wins for big guns Zoloroni City and Hoventon & Corlington Town, the latter saw Ben Chillotov and Redvali Ji Hyun Jo score twice after going behind to Zholvi Athletic. There were also surprising opening win for Carvi and a 4-2 win for Coral Island with Boney striker Budge Wearne netting a double in a high scoring affair between two teams that you wouldn't think would be challenging for the title this time around. Draws for Zoloroni Metropolitan, Acoflosa, the Armed Forces, Elspachia, Plympton and Brampton rounded out the action in the first round of fixtures which say teams and players open their accounts for the first time, setting themselves up for the rest of the season.

The second match day was no less entertaining as the sixteen teams tried to build on the opening day and earn valuable points to further their campaign in this season's MPL. After the first two games, there were only two teams with a 100% record as Zoloroni City and Langtree United both won today to make it six out of six so far. The former gave us the first hat trick of the season with Mercedinian Johannes Nymark bagging three at the Sports City Stadium to comfortably beat Hoventon & Corlington Town 3-0 at home. Meanwhile, Langtree United left it late against a stubborn Armed Forces team but Callum Aznelik eventually headed home in front on his home fans to match City on points in a tight battle at the top. At the bottom, East Kilride and surprisingly Orga City prop up the table and sit without a point to their name even though both teams lost tight games this week. Orga travelled to Acoflosa where they were promptly dispatched by the home side who went 4-0 up at half time, a minor fightback from Longacre and Nedved give Orga a more respectable result but time eventually ran out and it was Acoflosa who walked away with the points. Further wins from AFC Langree, Alton, Zholvi and Zoloroni Metropolitan rounded out the action which saw teams rise and teams fall as the results came in.

Goal-fests were abound in week three as 8 matches saw 27 goals scored which the fans and neutrals were reasonably entertained on their day out. You had to travel to central Zoloroni to find the pick of the bunch with Zoloroni Metropolitan putting five past Alton Swifts which saw Fhulghamous Peninsula's Aidan Power Jr score a brace in a route which lifted his team to second in the table. Elsewhere, the Armed Forces responded to their late loss to Langtree Utd with a comprehensive 4-1 win against Zholvi, with talisman Tim Crasic scoring aswell as 18-year old Cadet Cody Denjamic scoring twice to give the team their first win of the season. Orga City finally got their first point with a 2-0 win over Coral Island which saw East Kilbride be cut adrift at the bottom as they lost yet again, this time at home to table-topping Zoloroni City who now remain the lone team with a 100% record as Plympton Town held Langtree United to a draw. Finally, a 94th minute winner from Cosneoltan Wojewodski silenced the AFC Langtree crowd as Elspachia came away from the FLR Stadium with all three points. All these results could be curcial at the end of the season.

In a week which wasn't as stellar as previous weeks, it was the teams from Zoloroni and Acoflosa which profited from teams around them dropping points. Zoloroni City made it 4 in 4 as a stoppage time winner from Ceni's Sofia Falcon snatched all three points from the noses of the Armed Forces which saw the defence of the away team finally broken down in the 91st minute. A short drive from the Sports City Stadium will get you to another win for a Zoloroni team as Metropolitan fought of an Organ scare to hold onto the three points to keep their rivals within touching distance. Yet another Chillotov-lead comeback gave Hoventon & Corlington Town another win, this time against Coral Island, H&CT were a goal down at half time but two goals in the space of 23 minutes stunned the home crowd and sent the team rocketing up the table. However, the big match of the week was the Langtree derby which, rather anticlimactically, finished in a 2-2 draw. AFC Langtree took the lead twice but United fought back to ensure the two teams shared the spoils with a result which didn't suit either team. Further wins for Carvi and Zholvi rounded out the action with teams at the lower end of the table fighting for points to secure their MPL place next season.

Week 5 was the week where the league seemed to have been turned on it's head. The bookies made plenty of money as the results were rife with surprises and unexpected performances across the board. Quite possibly the biggest surprise was Hoventon & Corlington Town's 2-1 win over then second Zoloroni Metropolitan which meant Metro dropped points and sent H&CT up the table to challenge for a UICA spot. Despite losing, Metro stayed second as Acoflosa and Langtree both dropped points to lower ranked opposition. Acoflosa lost to the Armed Forces in a narrow match, while an early second half penalty from Juvencus's Hugo Grec meant Carvi earned a point against Langtree United, which saw the Langtree side miss their chance to move to second and keep up with the teams around them. Those teams dropping points meant Zoloroni City's 2-0 win at Plympton took on more importance as they leapt 5 points clear after only five games with a flawless 5 in 5 performance thus far. Finally, it was glory glory hallelujah as East Kilbride United picked up their first point of the season, a Kowalczyk penalty was all it took to hold Coral Island on the draw to get their team on the board. It's only taken them five matches to do it.

The first round of the MFA Cup brought up plenty of surprising result which ended up with three qualifying teams making it to the second round. Ozzaya Agranka had the most convincing victory as they won at Chapter Anston in the league above them by a margin on 3 goals to 2. However, two replays were needed to get Moorland & Tersham and Ansav Town through to the next round, with the former narrowly beating St. Austell Town in a replay while Ansav Town eventually got past Loftenshire Southerners via extra time with two goals in those thirty minutes after the teams were tied 1-1 after regulation time. RFK Ogdenagorv and Kingfisher Invictus earned themselves the award of largest margin of victory this round with a four goal margin, however RFK Ogdenagorv scored five while Kingfisher Invictus kept a clean sheet in their match. The winning teams all advance to the second round where the teams from National League 1 join in. Plenty of matches will be played in the coming weeks with the prize of potentially meeting an MPL club in the third round.

MD6 was rather drab when it came to goals, with only three teams scoring more than two goals in the ten fixtures played. One of them was Alton Swifts, who started their mixed start to the season with a 3-2 win over Elspachia. A Dominik Bartosz brace was enough to push his team towards the win despite a Vaselko goal late in the game. Meanwhile, Acoflosa United and Langtree United both achieved wins thanks to single goal wins with goals scored early in their respective second halves. Brenecia's Tynesman and Semarland's Jansen both got themselves on the scoresheet as Orga City took the three points at home against a disappointing Hoventon & Corlington Town. The biggest win of the day came from the capital as Zoloroni Metropolitan where goals from Power, LeBlanc and a penalty from Mercedinian Harry Webster gave their team a comprehensive victory over East Kilbride, who haven't made any kind of splash and sit bottom of the league with a single point to their name. Finally, there were six teams who are shared the spoils with four of those gaining their point via goalless draws. It was a day where none of the teams made a name for themselves.

Onto MD7 where there were plenty of goals for the fans across the country to enjoy. The pick of the bunch came from the Elspachia-Langtree United game where a six goal thriller eventually went to the side from Langtree, Elspachia drew level twice before Espinosa and a second goal from Kramini put Langtree 4-2 up and that is how the game ended. Zoloroni City looked impressive as they put four past Carvi Albion with three goals before half-time. The team gelled well with all four goals being scored by different players, the win extends their lead to four points after the team immediately below them dropped points. That team was Zoloroni Metropolitan, who travelled to the Majintsusec Memorial Centre where the Armed Forces snatched the three points, thanks to a first-half Crasic penalty and some heroic defending by the MAF back line. Wins for Orga, Coral Island, AFC Langtree and Brampton coupled with a two-all draw between Hoventon & Corlington Town and Alton Swifts capped of a day which saw points picked up from teams all over the table.

MD8 was a mixed day for some of the fans as most of the goals were concentrated in a few matches. However, the story of the day came from two matches where no team scored more than a goal each. Zoloroni City and Langtree United both surrendered their win when they really should've taken all three points. Zoloroni City conceded a goal early in the second half thanks to Brampton's Tetris Chandilize from Qasden, the deficit was eradiciated only four minutes later as Sofia Falcon's penalty brought the score to 1-1, the Cenian has been making a decent fist of it in her first season in Mercedini and is more than covering her reported ¥12,000,000 figure placed on her transfer. It was even worse for Langtree United as a 95th minute equaliser from Conseoltan national Dominik Bartosz meant United were held to a draw against mid-table Alton Swifts. Elsewhere, East Kilbride United's misery continues as they remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a 3-2 loss at Hoventon & Corlington Town. The team spearheaded by Ben Chillotov were 3-1 up at halftime but were pegged back by an EKU Abrani strike. Both Zoloroni Metropolitan and AFC Langtree won their teams who were below them in the table, meaning they kept up with the runaway leaders for yet another match day. Finally, wins for Elspachia, the Armed Forces and a draw between Acoflosa and Carvi ensured all those teams previously mentioned were a step closer in securing their place in the Premier League next season

MD9 came around and it is safe to say the performance of the day came from Carvi Albion, who thrashed Coral Island 6-1 with goals from Malinowski and Thistle along with braces from both Grec and Jay gave the small team confidence that they could hand with the best of them and produce some spectacular results, it was a day for their fans to rejoice. Elsewhere, it was a familiar story for the current top three, as they all won their respective matches, although it wasn't without a couple of tight squeezes. Zoloroni City needed an extra-time winner against Globe Cup chasers Elspachia, thanks to a 94th minute strike from Cenian Sofia Falcon. It was more comfortable for Zoloroni Metropolitan and Langtree United, with the former scoring a 59th penalty which ultimately proved to be the winning goal, while the latter restored a two goal margin with over half an hour to spare, it was smiles all round for the MPL top three. The Mercedini Armed Forces, who were fourth at the time were brought down by a resurgent Hoventon & Corlington Town, with Chollotov becoming the star of the show, scoring twice to give his team a 2-0 lead before half time. Around the rest of the grounds, Tynesman once again bailed her team out as she scored an 87th minute winner to give her team all three points. Alton Swifts kept their points ticking over as they came past a helpless East Kilbride to put distance between themselves and relagation. Finally, two draws in a row have but Acoflosa's international chances at risk, they fought out a bore draw against Brampton at woof.park.

MD10 came and went and left us with a series of results which thrust mid-table teams into the limelight. Zholvi Athletic, who had been trundling along and minding their own business, went up a gear in their play and managed to produce a fairly comprehensive 3-0 victory over Alton Swifts to close the gap on their opponents and but daylight between themselves and the relegation spots. Similarly, the Armed Forces match Zholvi's results as Cody Denjamic, who is quickly making a name for himself, scored a brace in their own 3-0 over strugglers East Kilbride United, damning them to a dismal record of nine losses in ten. The match that had the most buzz about it was certain the titanic clash between Zoloroni City and Langtree United at the Sports City Stadium, the match ended 1-1 which wouldn't satisfy either team, especially considering Metropolitan beat Carvi 2-0 on the other side of the city which narrowed the gap between the leaders and the chasing pack. Lamorka's double edged AFC Langtree past Orga City while Bonesea's Gonna Calhoun's two goals before half time proved to be the difference as Elspachia continued their good run of form, beating Acoflosa United 3-1. Rounding out the rest of the matches, Coral Island beat Brampton 1-0 and Hoventon and Plympton shared the spoils in their match, a 1-1 draw rounding out the action

The Second Round of the MFA Cup meant that the teams from National League 1 (Second-Tier) entered the competition with twenty teams joining the twelve winning teams who advanced from the first round proper. The main observation from the results is that the great run of the three remaining qualifying teams all came to an end, losing to higher league opposition to cut their run short. Moorland & Tersham were comfortably beaten in their own stadium as Rygge Athletic came, saw and conquered by a margin of 4 goals to 1. Acton Town's game was less intense but the result was still the same as RFK Ogdenagorv beat them 2-1 to ensure at least one team from National League 2 went through to the third round. Finally, the last team to fall was OFR Ozzaya Agranka who initially took the lead against Acton Town but eventually the second tier team was too much for the qualifier who lost 3-2, far from a disgrace on any level. However, the most embarrassing defeat fell to Zoloroni Park, who were torn apart in their own back yard to this season's favourites for promotion to the MPL, Dynamo Shebchetsik, who beat them 7-0 to breeze through to the third round to potentially play an MPL team. There were three replays in this round, which were won by Sporting Rafelonia, Lonek Town and Denby Town. All of this round's sixteen winners will be joined by the sixteen teams in the MPL for the third round, there are three teams left from NL2 which will be a great source of revenue if these small clubs were to draw a giant in the next round.

It was goals galore on match day eleven with twenty-two goals scored along with a couple of surprises. The biggest surprise of the day occurred in Zholvi as they beat current table toppers Zoloroni City thanks to a goal from Audioslavia’s Jokin Mork. Their loss meant close rivals Zoloroni Metropolitan and Langtree United both closed in thanks to wins against Brampton and Acoflosa respectively. Elsewhere, AFC Langtree put four past Chillotov’s Hoventon & Corlington Town in a demolition job at the FLR Stadium; Elspachia came through a five-goal thriller as they beat Coral Island with a Garrido winner mid-way through the second half. Knudt Jansen’s last-gasp winner earned Orga City the three points at Carvi despite the hosts taking the lead through Hugo Grec. Cody Denjamic continued his tremendous scoring record, scoring the winner as the Armed Forces squeezed past the Alton Swifts at the Memorial Centre, Finally, East Kilbride’s blues intensified as an early goal from Alberighi gave Plympton Town the win against the fast becoming relegation fodder.

Zoloroni City bounced back from their shock defeat in Zholvi by earning a hard fought three points away from Alton despite a brace from Cosneolta’s Dominik Bartosz, but it was their neighbours who maintained their spot at the top of the table as Metropolitan put four past dark horses Elspachia at Snowflake Stadium. Fellow title challengers Langtree United were held to an entertaining 2-2 all draw in Coral Island with goals from Kae and Espinosa being cancelled out by Quebec duo Brassard and Stoner. In the other matches, goals from Longacre and Tynesman meant Orga City made it two in two to give their Globe Cup chances a boost as Brampton United’s expense. A goal in the third minute of stoppage time denied Carvi an away point in Hoventon and added some shine to what has been a disappointing season for H&C thus far. The Armed Forces blew a two goal lead in their own back yard as Mercedinian Simon Arkelton and Damukuni’s Scott-Hooker combined to give Plympton a point. East Kilbride United closed in on their first win but they were denied thanks to an Ezekiel Kramini goal less than fifteen minutes from time. Finally, Acoflosa and Zholvi played out a goalless draw at the Coma Tudo Stadium with both teams putting another point on the board to further their campaign in this season’s MPL.

The 13th match day didn’t bring the goals that many of the fans craved, save for a couple of matches. Zoloroni City re-established their spot at the top of the table after a comprehensive 4-1 victory over mid-table Acoflosa United with a brace from Nymark aswell as goals from Kulap and Mossec. A short drive away from the capital you will find Elspachia and Orga City who shared the spoils after Orga scored in the last minute to earn a point at the Globe Cup challengers. Zoloroni City’s win was made even more important as fellow rivals Metropolitan and Langtree United drew one a-piece, meaning they both drop points which could be crucial at the end of the season. Elsewhere, the Mercedinian youngster Simon Arkelton’s first half goal was enough to give Plympton Town a boost when it comes to staving off relegation. Crasic has solidified himself as a key player in the Armed Forces as his late goal earns his team a narrow 1-0 win over AFC Langtree. An even later goal from Boney Budge Wearne gave Coral Island a morale boosting away win in Zholvi. Finally, goalless draws from Brampton, Hoventon, Carvi and early relegation favourites East Kilbride rounded out the action from the eight matches.

The tables kept on turning in the MPL as another set of dropped points for Zoloroni City was pounced upon by their capital rivals in what has been a topsy-turvy last handful of matches for both teams. Johannes Nymark got the table toppers off to a good start but the hosts who play their matches on the outskirts of the Kingfisher Islands turned the game on its head with goals from Pollson and Elah in a seven-minute spell to gives the Islanders a 2-1 win. That gave Metropolitan a chance to go three points clear at the top of the table and they took after an early scare from visitors Zholvi Athletic. Schottian Vincent Verbeck and Harry Webster both got their names of the scoresheet to overturn a surprise goal from the Zholvi and Vans striker Teutorigos Aloisi, which gave Zoloroni Metropolitan a huge boost to their title chances with a vital 2-1 win. Fellow title challengers Langtree United also kept themselves within touching distance with a 1-0 win away at Orga, an early penalty from Brenecian Tony Brough was enough for United to get the win they needed to keep the title race between three teams. In other news, Cody Denjamic is beginning to make a name for himself with many believing he is the heir apparent to the Armed Forces throne currently occupied by Billic, he scored a hattrick at home against Carvi Albion to give his club an outside chance of Globe Cup Qualification. Two more teams looking to make it into the Globe Cup are AFC Langtree and Elspachia, they both won away from home against Plympton Town and Hoventon & Corlington Town respectively, both giving convincing performances to state their case for international football next season. Acoflosa United came through against Alton to send the away side further up the table and gave the home fans cause for concern about whether their team can beat the drop or not. Finally, East Kilbride continued their potential resurrection with another 0-0 draw, this time against Brampton United. While it may be the case that they are relegated in the first season, they are making a slight piece of resistance against teams who many see as their relegation rivals, whether they can turn it into something more remains to be seen.

The fifteenth matchday signalled the end of the first half of matches before all sixteens teams enter the reverse fixtures, and there were plenty of matches catching the eyes of the fans from the different clubs. The standout result came from Elspachia as they compounded East Kilbride’s woes and thoroughly dispatched them 7-0 in the largest margin of victory ever in an MPL game. Four goals from Bonesea’s Gonna Calhoun supported by goals from Garrido, Vaselko and Thabo rounded out a rough day for the Premier League’s bottom club. In the match between the top two, it was Zoloroni Metropolitan who came out the more satisfied of the two, holding their capital rivals City to a 2-2 draw to maintain their grip on the top spot. That meant third-placed Langtree United made up ground with a 2-0 win over Hoventon & Corlington Town, two first half goals from Ezekiel Kramini was enough to sink Chillotov and co. to life United up to third. Elsewhere, Carvi Albion continue to surprise as they came from behind to dispatch a flailing Plympton Town 2-1 thanks to goals from Annan and Malinowski which cancelled out Connor Kane. It was much more comfortable for AFC Langtree as they put Alton Swifts deep into the relegation dogfight with a 2-1 win at the FLR Stadium. It took Brampton United 93 minutes to break down the Armed Forces defence, converting an added time penalty to put another three points on the board. Miles Taezhong’s early goal at the Coma Tudo Stadium gave Acoflosa reason to celebrate, another 1-0 win keeps then safe in midtable as Coral Island continue to chug along in mid-table obscurity as well. Finally, neighbours Zholvi and Orga played out a bore draw to keep them ahead of the game when it comes to relegation but pull them away from the international places which may come to a head in the next coming weeks.

The Third Round of the MFA Cup came and went with the big news being that eight MPL teams fell at the first hurdle with four of those falling to lower league opposition. A seven-goal thriller between Exton and Coral Island resulted in the National League 1 knocking out the Premier League side by a monumental score line of 4 goals to 3. Similarly, Saabham Forest travelled to the Partush Arena and came out as the surprise winners, a late header but the second division side through to the fourth round. It was a similar story in Alton as the Swifts were ensured of an early exit at the hands of Denby Town of National League 1 thanks to a strike in added time. Sporting Rafelonia made it a hattrick of away wins for NL1 teams against teams from the MPL as they knocked out Plympton Town with a first half goal and some heroic defending against the current MPL strugglers sent them through to give Rafelonia a well-earned windfall and a spot in the fourth round. There were no such problems for Brampton United, who put five past Inablidak to set the early pace for the teams in the Premier League. Acoflosa United aren’t too far behind them as they welcome Ignavi Borough, but the Langtree natives couldn’t spring another surprise as they fell 5-1 in the Coma Tudo Stadium. There were no such banana peels for AFC Langtree either as they welcomed AFC Monmouth of the second tier and promptly dispatched them 4-0 to book their place in the fourth round. However, their city neighbours Langtree United had no such luck in one of the surprises which went relatively unnoticed as one of the MPL title contenders became unstuck against bottom of the table East Kilbride United, being comfortably beaten 2-0 away from home. Elspachia were given a somewhat easier draw as they put in a comprehensive performance to beat the visitors 3-0 and ensure they avoided a shock for now. Kingfisher Invictus were the first third-tier team to book their spot in the fourth round, beating Civittanevosa 3-1 in front of their own fans. They were joined by RFK Ogdengorv who needed extra time in their replay after a 2-2 stalemate in the first match was followed up with a one-all tie after regulation time in the replay, with the NL2 team overcoming Lonek Town in the league above after 210 minutes of football. Hoventon & Corlington Town knocked out Zholvi Athletic in an all-MPL tie, with talisman and hometown boy Ben Chillotov opening the scoring to push his team through. Rounding up the rest of the matches, there were wins for Dynamo Shebchetsik, Rygge Athletic, the Armed Forces and finally in the juggernaut clash of the round, Zoloroni City and Zoloroni Metropolitan faced off and it was City who eventually ran out comfortably 3-1 winners in a replay after it finished two-all at the Sports City Stadium. No more teams will be joining which means it is a straight sprint to the final where the last two teams will face off at the Sports City Stadium.

The 16th matchday meant all the teams could see the finish line and with plenty to sought out at the top and bottom, teams were making their final dash to the line. It was raining goals in stadiums around Mercedini with six teams scoring three goals or more and only two not getting their names on the scoreboard. Alton Swifts ended what was a miserable run of form with a 2-1 win over Coral Island, Bellinghausen and Bartosz who have been instrumental to the team’s chances of remaining in the MPL, their goals either side of half-time cancelled out an early Budge Wearne goal giving the Swifts a well needed morale boost and of course the three points for their cause. The young Quebec player Chase LeBlanc scored twice in what was an impressive away performance from Zoloroni Metropolitan at the Coma Tudo Stadium in Acoflosa, he scored a brace which was capped off with a headed goal from Noah Park. That kept up the pressure on their capital rivals, but they didn’t stumble as they overcame Orga City 4-1 at the Sports City Stadium. Goals from Paki and the Cenian midfielder Falcon gave Zoloroni a 2-0 lead at half time, before a Vanja Kuro made the points safe for Zoloroni City just after the hour mark. Tynesman pulled a goal back with about twenty minutes left before the Cenian bagged her second of the game, rounding out an easy win for Zoloroni City. Another team having a good day were Zholvi Athletic, they aren’t likely to be fighting for an international spot but they can put a dent in the chances of others, they blew away a rather lacklustre Hoventon & Corlington Town by a margin of four goals to nil, two goals either side of half-time along with a brace from Patrick Jackic sealed off an impressive result for the team. The biggest shock of the day came from the nation’s second city as East Kilbride United beat title contenders Langtree United 1-0 away from thanks to late-ish winner from Danil Kowalczyk from Cosneolta. Elspachia and the Armed Forces played out an entertaining three-all draw, Elspachia were at home and went 2-0 ahead inside half an hour before an amazing comeback from the men in the military who scored three goals to take a 3-2 lead into the last fifteen minutes. Elspachia then scored with 10 minutes left in the match where the teams spared the spoils. It was a similar result in south Mercedini as Plympton and Brampton cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw, with both teams scoring in the first half. Finally, Carvi and AFC Langtree duelled with the away team coming out 2-5 winners in an enthralling match which was 1-3 at half time. A hattrick from Dimitri Lamorka supported by goals from Pelucci and Folchart overcame Carvi who scored through Jay and Grec. Mix results all around for teams up and down the table, they are running out of time to make their moves.

After the goal fest of last matchday, match day seventeen would have done well to live up to the frantic nature of its predecessor. However, we did some surprises and some teams who scraped past their opponents by the skin of their teeth. Zoloroni City didn’t let up in their quest for a first title in the debut season with a narrow 1-0 win over Hoventon & Corlington Town, a second half Mossec goal was all it took to beat the mid-table team at the Hoventon Community Stadium. Their win was made even more important as rivals Zoloroni Metropolitan were held to a 1-1 draw in their own stadium by Coral Island. A LeBlanc strike cancelled out an earlier Eutychiusa header which meant both teams shared the spoils at the Snowflake Stadium. Around the grounds, Langtree United followed up their shock defeat last match day with a 1-0 win against the Armed Forces, a spectacular Ezekiel Kramini shot from 30-yards beat the keeper and nestled into the top corner of the net to give Langtree United the win and a high chance of at least a Globe Cup spot. AFC Langtree beat Brampton United by the same scorline with an Albrecht strike just before the half hour mark to push Brampton closer to the drop. Plympton town left it late, very late to get a win against Globe Cup contenders Elspachia, a Scott-Hooker toe-poke from a frantic last ditch corner sent the crowd in the Plympton Community Stadium into ecstasy, earning the team a three points which could be vital come the end of the season. Zholvi Athletic followed up their tremendous performance against H&CT with a less than impressive performance against East Kilbride United, however, Kijek slotted home from a counter attack which was enough for Zholvi to beat the team who stay bottom of the table. Finally, Kimothy Longacre gave Orga City a 1-0 win of their own against Acoflosa United. It lifts them up the table after the rather dismal start but could be fighting for an international spot come the end of the season.

The end is in sight for many of these teams but there is still plenty of time between now and the end of the season, which means not every team is safe nor are any of them out of the running for an international spot next season. Zoloroni City remained at the top with a scrappy 3-0 win over East Kilbride, the team sitting bottom of the table were coping well with the pressure but a second half collapse which saw EKU concede three goals in the final 25 minutes gave City the win and gave East Kilbride a further push towards the drop. Both of their title rivals kept up the pressure at the top, Zoloroni Metropolitan beating Alton Swifts with a first half strike. Meanwhile, Langtree United welcomed Plympton Town and with a Morton goal at the eleven-minute mark, claimed the three points with a narrow 1-0 victory. Elsewhere, it was draws all round for the rest of our MPL teams, Elspachia and AFC Langtree who are both fighting each other for a potential Globe Cup spot drew 2-2 at the Sevada Stadium. A match which saw Gonna Calhoun bag a brace either side of half-time but that was cancelled out first by a well worked Tagawa goal and then finally a solo effort from Dimitri Lamorka levelled the scores which meant the teams earned a point each but left them susceptible to a fightback from rival teams. Brampton and Carvi both traded penalties to leave them tied at one-all which gave both a well needed lift up the table. There were also goalless draws between Coral Island and Orga, Zholvi Athletic and the Armed Forces and finally Acoflosa and Hoventon & Corlington Town meaning it was the top three who all benefitted on this match day.

Matchday 19 rolled around which gave the teams another opportunity to get points to further their progression up the MPL table. The title fight could have possibly lost another competitor as Langtree United fell fowl of the Langtree derby as their lost 1-0 to their rivals AFC Langtree at the FLR Stadium. A second half counter attack goal finished by Dimitri Lamorka but AFC Langtree level on points with their city rivals and solidified a Globe Cup spot in third place. That slip-up was gobbled up by Zoloroni City and Metropolitan who both won on the road, Zoloroni City came out of a very close match against the Mercedini Armed Forces with a Denjamic penalty before half-time giving them a 2-1 lead, before goals from the ever reliable Mossec and Nymark regained the lead for the visitors to seal yet another win for Zoloroni City. Metropolitan had a much easier time of it, with a 4-0 win thanks to a second half collapse from Orga City, both teams went in level at half-time but two goals from Aidan Power Jr. and single goals from Verbeck and Power all in the second half rounded out a performance which, in the end, blew away their opponents. AFC Langtree’s win meant pressure was put on the chasing pack to fight for those Globe Cup spots, and Elspachia were dealt a huge blow to their chances as they fell 1-0 to Carvi Albion. A goal from Thistle early in the second half was all it took, narrow margins which could be crucial by the end of the season. Elsewhere, Brampton United took a big step towards safety, beating relegation rivals Alton Swifts 2-0 in front of their own crowd, goals from Tim Knute-Grahn and Kris Linde bookending a match which could have gone either way. Coral Island managed to hold onto their 2-1 lead throughout the second half to claim another three points for them. Plympton had to come from behind to earn a point against Zholvi Athletic after Mork scored in the opening seven minutes. Finally, East Kilbride picked up yet another point on their likely route down to the National League thanks to a goalless draw against Acoflosa United. The 20th match day rolled around and that marked the end of the second third of the MPL season. This time, many of the usual suspects claimed victory with a lack of surprising results from around the grounds. The top two teams, both from Zoloroni, both won at home in surprisingly tight affairs with their respective visiting teams putting up a good fight. Zoloroni City beat Plympton town thanks to two penalties from Sofia Falcon, the Cenian has made a good impression in her debut season with plenty of crucial goals, City would do well to keep her for next season. Similarly, Metropolitan were equally tied up with their match against Hoventon & Corlington Town and were only saved thanks to their blistering start to the match, two goals in the opening nine minutes gave them the start the foothold they wated and it was only thanks to that that they held onto the win even after a late fightback from Jo and Chillotov, it wasn’t enough for Hoventon to pull off a tremendous fightback. Although the two Langtree teams may seem out of it for now, although they continued their good run of form to maintain their outside chance of the title. Langtree United left it late to overcome Carvi but an Aznelik strike capped off an altogether dominant performance. While AFC Langtree’s dominance was much more visible with Lamorka and Pelucci both scoring twice either side of half time to give their team a 4-0 win at Zholvi. Elspachia may have taken a huge dent to their Globe Cup spot chances but that hasn’t stopped them from maintaining their hopes, they took a three-goal lead against Brampton but couldn’t keep a clean sheet, they still managed to win 3-1 at the Sevada Stadium. In the remaining matches, the Armed Forces kept on pushing match after match in hope that their rivals slip up, a Denjamic goal in the first half ultimately won the game, he has been an instrumental part of the team and has contributed so much at such a youthful age. Alton slip further down the table as they lost at home yet again, this time to Orga City in a comfortable match for the visitors. Finally, surprise surprise East Kilbride lost again, this time to Coral Island who scored twice late in the second half to crank the lever a bit further on the trapdoor which EKU seem to be stuck on.

Sixteen teams went into the fourth round with only half of those being in the nation’s top division, with plenty of interesting results following up the madness of last round. Of the eight remaining MPL, six teams made it through to the quarter finals meaning two were eliminated in the fourth round. The shocks weren’t as prevalent this round, however there was one massive surprise with another MPL side going out to lower league opposition. Sporting Rafelonia caused the shock of the round with a 1-0 away win at the Coma Tudo Stadium, a goal early in the second half was enough for the National League 1 side to snatch victory and book their spot in the quarter finals at the expense of Acoflosa United. With that, we were guaranteed two teams outside the MPL in the MFA Cup Quarter Finals as Dynamo Shebchetsik won an all NL1 matchup against Saabham Forest at the Arradorro Stadium, a close matchup was edged by the visitors who won 2-1 to potentially set up a fixture against an MPL side for the quarter finals. It was the end of the road for our two remaining teams from National League 2 as they bowed out gracefully against two MPL sides. Kingfisher Invictus went to the Majintsusec Memorial Centre and fought valiantly for a while but it was a step to far for the Islanders who were beaten 4-2 at the hands of the Armed Forces. RFK Ogdenagorv were the final team to fall, this time to East Kilbride, who are enjoying their time in the cup to distract themselves from their dismal league campaign, they welcomed Ogdenagorv and beat them with a convincing 3-0 score line. Zoloroni City, who beat their capital rivals Zoloroni Metropolitan in the last round, followed up that win with a 4-1 away win over National League 1 team Denby Town, it was comfortable for City but it did give Denby Town a well-earned payday thanks to the increased number of fans plus TV rights. Elsewhere, Exton Oilers couldn’t follow up their heroics in the last round against Coral Island, bowing out at this stage after a close 3-2 loss at home against Hoventon & Corlington Town. There were two replays this round, with Rygge Athletic pushing their MPL opponents Brampton United to a replay, however they couldn’t match the talent of their opponents and lost 4-0 at woof.park. Finally, another blockbuster tussle between AFC Langtree and Elspachia which ended goalless at the FLR Stadium before Elspachia ran out 2-0 winners in the replay at the Sevada Stadium. The eight remaining teams can almost touch the MFA Cup trophy in their hands. They only need to win three more matches to win Mercedini’s domestic cup competition.

Plenty of decent performances were put in the tank on MD21 with all the main names comfortably winning, with a sprinkling of hattricks on the day aswell. Elspachia continued to tick over and march up the table with a 4-0 win over Alton. Garrido opened the scoring with well worked move finished off with a decent curled shot, before Gonna Calhoun turned on the style and finished off Alton Swifts. Two goals in the final two minutes plus stoppage time all but won the game for Elspachia, before Calhoun completed his hattrick with a simple tap-in for the match ball in front of his home fans. Another player to get his hattrick was Johannes Nymark of Zoloroni City, his second of the season. It was a much more entertaining match at the FLR stadium with the home team scoring first, but Zoloroni City soon woke up by scoring twice either side of half time to give themselves a three-goal lead into stoppage time. Dimitri Lamorka added another consolation goal for the home side but it was too little too late for AFC Langtree as they fell by a margin of 4 goals to 2. The third hattrick of the day came from Tynesman who bought home the bacon in a tight game against Hoventon & Corlington Town. Chillotov scored twice but the Brenecian one upped him with an equaliser at first, followed by two goals which took the lead and took Orga City up the table with a 3-2 win. Elsewhere, Zoloroni Metropolitan survived a scare when they travelled to East Kilbride with the home side actually going 1-0 up thanks to a scrappy goal from EKU’s Giffare. Metropolitan did come back with three goals in the last twelve minutes, it was Power Jr. who started it off, followed by LeBlanc and finally Verbeck to complete a devastating comeback for the capital team. It was easier for both Carvi and Langtree United who both beat their respective opponents 2-0 on the day. Carvi beat Zholvi with an early goal from DeShawn Jay and a converted penalty from Juvencus’s Hugo Grec. Meanwhile, Langtree United scored in both halves to beat Brampton away from home with goals coming from Morton and Kramini. Finally, Irwin Drost ‘s first half goal was all it took for Acoflosa United to get past Plympton, while the Armed Forces and Coral Island shared the spoils in a goalless stalemate at the Memorial Centre.

It was heating up in the MPL for the 22nd match day with teams up and down the table hoping to make a late move up the table to secure their place next season or to bag a lucrative spot in the UICA competitions next season. East Kilbride got another win, this time on their travels to Orga. A Livianus strike in the second half followed by the parking of a certain proverbial bus got EKU through the game and give them another three points, not that it will help their cause that much. Alton Swifts also gave their relegation survival chances a boost by holding Hoventon & Corlington Town to a 2-2 draw at home closing the gap on the teams above them. The performance of the day came from the current leaders Zoloroni City thanks to a second half demolition which ultimately lead to a 5-0 scoreline including a brace from Mercedinian Bert Paki. This meant Zoloroni Metropolitan had to win and win they did, but only just. A 1-0 win over the Armed Forces meant the team kept pace with their rivals with the amount of games running out. Elsewhere, we may have lost another team from the title race as Langtree United lost as home to a resurgent Elspachia side, a spectacular Simonis curled effort on the edge of the box silenced the Langtree Metropolitan Stadium and cost the home side a potential title, although it would have been a long shot at that. AFC Langtree’s strong prospect for a Globe Cup spot may have slipped after a 3-1 defeat at the Coma Tudo Stadium, goals from: Taezhong, McGregor and Scribe overcame a potential comeback from the visitors after Liam Tagawa reduced the deficit, but it wasn’t enough as Acoflosa secured the win and ensured they stayed comfortably in mid table with the season drawing to a close. Rounding out the action, Zholvi had to come from a goal down to beat Brampton United with goals from Jackic and Mork sealing the win, and finally a second half tap-in from Budge Wearne gave Coral Island a narrow 1-0 over relegation threatened Plympton Town. Both Coral Island and Zholvi are safe in midtable and look ready and able to carry on in the MPL next season.

Matchday 23 bought some wins from familiar faces but also some surprises to the mix, as Zoloroni Metropolitan could have been dealt a fatal blow to their title chances. That’s right, a controversial second half penalty converted by Damukuni’s Scott-Hooker gave Plympton Town the lead they needed to keep their MPL hopes alive, they managed to push further forward an nearly had a second against a rather lacklustre Metropolitan performance in front of their home fans. This meant the advantage was given to Zoloroni City and they took it with both hands thanks to 2-0 win away at Brampton. Two goals in a five minute spell from Edward Mossec gave City one hand on the trophy as they extended their lead at the top of the table, turning the screw on any potential rivals. It was heating up in the final spots for the Globe Cup with Langtree United all but locking up their spot in the UICA tournament with an entertaining 3-2 over likely relegation candidate Alton Swifts. The Swifts went toe-to-toe with the team likely to reach the Globe Cup with Bellinghausen scoring twice to level the scores, but Ezekiel Kramini’s strike just after the hour mark proved to be the difference in what was a close match between two teams at opposite ends of the table. Elspachia continued their rise up the table after another win against mid-table Zholvi Athletic. It was an odd goal, with Gonna Calhoun scoring over a minute after the first half was supposed to end due to his team holding the ball in opposition territory. A goal-line scramble resulting in the Boney striker slamming the ball into the net, the last kick of the half. Bonesea’s strikers were having a good day as Budge Wearne netted a hattrick, but that still wasn’t enough to take Coral Island past AFC Langtree as both teams shared the spoils with a 3-3 draw at the FLR Stadium. Hoventon & Corlington Town became the latest team to win at East Kilbirde with a Chillotov brace coupled with a de Valle goal seeing off the all but relegated side by a 3-0 score line. Orga City sit comfortably in mid-table with a 2-0 win over the Armed Forces, both teams seem to be too far away to snatch a Globe Cup spot so it may be pride that they will be fighting for, throughout the rest of the season. Finally, Acoflosa and Carvi shared a slow jog towards the end of the season, a goalless draw meant their points tallies kept ticking over as they set their sights on next season.

The 24th matchday was interesting for many reason, mostly effecting the relegation dogfight at the bottom of the table. An absolute stunner in added time silenced Alton Swifts as East Kilbride came away with a 1-0 win, giving them another three points and potentially dragging the Swifts down into National League. With Alton looking as if they will be the second team to go down, Plympton took advantage of that by putting further space between themselves and the relegation spots, a goalless draw at the Partush Arena against Orga City gives them a valuable point and could mean they stay up at the end of the season. The other team in a spot of bother is Brampton, they couldn’t capitalise on those around them dropping points as they lost 1-0 against Acoflosa United at the Coma Tudo Stadium. They will need to wake up if they are to secure their place, that is where they came unstuck as an Acoflosan Mbanefo goal just minutes into the second half was the goal that cost them the points. In the title race, both Zoloroni City and Zoloroni Metropolitan kept up the pressure on one another as they both won to keep themselves within touching distance of their first MPL title. City had to come from a goal down against a feisty Elspachia side who have been proving their worth as of late, with Johannes Nymark scoring the winner with over twenty minutes left in the match. Mid-table Zholvi Athletic sprung a surprise against ex-title contenders Langtree United as a late late goal thanks to the Cosneoltan Jokinen earnt a point at home, it may not do anything for the causes of either team, but it gives us an indication of the players who will be dangerous next season. Finally, Hoventon & Corlington Town came out on top against the armed forces with two national team players; Ossun and Chillotov both scoring for the team in sky blue. The bore draw match of the day went to two teams who don’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon, Carvi Albion and Coral Island FC only managed three shots on target between and with the match mainly held up in the midfield, there was only one way the match could go.

The 25th matchday came and went and with squeaky bum time rapidly approaching, it was surprising to see pretty much all the matches being decided by a single goal at this late stage in the season. The match of the day was no doubted played at the FLR Stadium where AFC Langtree and Orga City duelled back and forth to ultimately draw two-all which puts another dent into the Globe Cup hopes of AFC Langtree and also secures the midtable status of Orga City, they can only look forward to strengthening their squad in the off-season in hope to give a better account of themselves next time around. The title race took an interesting turn this week with both the two title contenders losing their matches, giving those below them a chance to catch up. Zoloroni City and Langtree United duelled in a fierce match between the two Mercedinian domestic superpowers, but a drab match was won by a converted Tony Brough penalty which gave the home fans in the Langtree Metropolitan Stadium something to celebrate after falling away from the top two in recent weeks. Zoloroni Metropolitan didn’t fare much better as a shock Hugo Grec strike just fifteen minutes from lifted his team into the top ten with only five games left in the season. With those results taking the headlines, other results slipped under the radar. Elspachia continued their resurgence up the table with another narrow win over Acoflosa. Mercedinian National Team defender Liam Dosic withstood the pressure and converted from the penalty spot only six minutes left in the match after a close match between the two teams left it goalless for the vast majority of the match. Another team who won scraped past their opponents was Brampton United who put further distance between themselves and the relegation zone with a sixth minute winner in a 1-0 victory against Coral Island. This was because Alton Swifts, who have had a rotten second half to the season, could only draw away at Zholvi Athletic even though a Souare goal originally put them ahead at the ezMART Stadium. Cody Denjamic who has made a name for themselves this season has continued to do so as his goal twenty minutes from time gave his team the three points against an all but relegated East Kilbride side who had strung together a good series of results in recent days. Finally, Hoventon and Plympton were the bore draw match of the week, as a surprisingly exhilarating match ended goalless at the Plympton Community Stadium, there are now five matches to go until we find who will be playing international matches and who will be playing in the second-tier next season.

Eight teams went into the weekend’s MFA Cup action with only four teams making it to the semi-finals, giving all of the teams a payday which will no doubt be beneficial for their financial position for the future. We were guaranteed one team from the second-tier in the semi-finals which is historic at this point in the tournament, Dynamo Shebchetsik and Sporting Rafelonia duelled at the Razrabotka Stadion and with the two promotion contenders going toe to toe in front of a rather hostile and hardcore crowd that is typical of the home side. In the end, Shebchetsik booked their spot with a 3-1 victory over their opponents which saw a complete performance from the home side against a rather lacklustre Rafelonia side who would feel disappointed after knocking out many MPL sides yet still got knocked out by a team from their own league. The rest of the ties were run of the mill matches at this stage of the contest with the remaining the games all featuring two MPL sides to complete this season’s MFA Cup line-up. East Kilbride United’s surprisingly good MFA Cup run finally came to an end as they ran into the brick wall that is Zoloroni City. The opposition finally caught up to them and were promptly dispatched 4-1 in their own back yard with Zoloroni City playing many of their second team to ensure key players were rested for the league campaign. Two teams in a similar part of the MPL table duelled as Elspachia welcomed Hoventon & Corlington Town to the Sevada Stadium, a close match was played but Elspachia found the winner in the second half to put themselves through to the semi-final to give themselves a good chance of winning it all. Finally, the Armed Forces completed the line-up for the MFA Cup Semifinals with an impressive 2-0 away win at Brampton United, the home team who were at the lower end of the table had practically given up on their cup run to focus on league survival, which gave MAF practically a free pass to the semis. For the final four teams, they are two wins away from lifting the nation’s domestic cup and booking their spot in the Cygnus Cup for next season.

Five matches left for the teams in the MPL meant many teams were either fighting to the death to get UICA spots and stay in the league or had nothing to fight for as they were safe in midtable or couldn’t climb high enough or fall low enough to change their classification in the table. The title race looked more and more clear with Zoloroni City maintaining their advantage of their capital rivals with another victory against midtable Zholvi Athletic. Paki and Nymark who have been the standout performers this season got on the scoresheet once again to see off a decent Zholvi Athletic side who will be hoping to climb higher next season. Zoloroni Metropolitan managed to get a better score line against their opponents but it didn’t count for much if they didn’t close the gap against City. They were at home and beat a rather lacklustre Brampton United side by four goals to one. The Quebecois striker Chase LeBlanc was certainly ending the season on a high with a hattrick proving to be the difference against Brampton who were 4-0 down but managed to get a consolation goal through Boney striker Tim Knute-Grahn. Elspachia continued their rapid rise up the table and could have put themselves within contention for a Globe Cup spot as they travelled to Coral Island and gave an impressive performance, beating their hosts 4-2 with two goals from Bonesea’s Gonna Calhoun. It was a frantic match which saw Coral Island equalise twice, but in the second half it was a different kettle of fish with Elsapchia scoring two goals without reply to take the three points back to the mainland. That win was made more important as AFC Langtree, their main rivals, were surprisingly taken down by a mid-table Hoventon & Corlington Town who haven’t had the best of times this season, the team went forward well with Chillotov and Jo scoring, plus Pujanic who scored from a direct free kick. Dimitri Lamorka got a goal back but it wasn’t enough as H&CT ran out eventual winners. Acoflosa United rubbed salt into the wounds of Langtree United, as the Coma Tudo Stadium rocked as a Scribe strike less than half an hour proved to be the difference in the match which saw Langtree United fall even further back from the two title contenders and possibly prompting further worry that they may slip out of a Globe Cup spot come the end of the season after being so far ahead earlier in proceedings. The rest of the matches featured teams which were considered ‘on the beach’ meaning they had hardly anything to play for. Orga City and Carvi Albion were jostling for position in the MPL table as Orga ran out 1-0 winners in what was a close match between two teams with wildly different budgets and fan groups. The Armed Forces had to fight tooth and nail against an Alton Swifts team currently sitting in the relegation zone, a Tim Crasic penalty saving their blushes in what was a boring match for many of the fans… but the bore draw match of the week went to bottom of the table East Kilbride United and third from bottom Plympton Town, not much was going for these teams in a match where Plympton were trying to edge themselves over the line and EKU were trying not to lose and possibly make it to ten points by the end of the season. It was something which we wouldn’t have to wait long for given there is now only four matches left until the end of the season.

The 27th game of the season meant those tiring legs didn’t have far to go until the end of the season and a well-earned rest for the players. Zoloroni City looked more and more ominous at the top of the table as they unbelievably extended their lead at the top two six points. They welcomed Alton Swifts to the Sports City Stadium and with both teams at opposite ends of the table, many fans knew it was a question of ‘how much’ rather than ‘if’, the answer to that question was 3-0 as Falcon, Mossec and Kuro all got their name on the scoresheet, which will undoubtedly help them rise-up the table of top goal scorers. Alton Swifts look all but down after their dismal run of form in the second half of the season. The second half to this development was at the Sevada Stadium as Elspachia stunned many people, including themselves with a massive victory which continues their stratospheric rise in recent weeks and which could have possibly given Zoloroni Metropolitan fatal blow to their title chances. Cosneoltan Wojewodski scored late in the first half to give Elspachia the eventual winner and the three points against a team who were highly fancied to keep up the pressure on the other Zoloroni team until the very end. Elsewhere, Langtree United continued to slip away from the top two as they could only muster a draw against Coral Island despite being two goals to the good at half-time. Langtree were at home and scored twice inside twelve minutes to set themselves apart from their opponents, but the Islanders showed great composure and scored twice in the second half to take a very well-earned point from the nation’s second largest city. The most dramatic goal almost certainly came at Zholvi Athletic where Mbanefo scored a 90th minute winner for Acoflosa united against the hosts, to snatch the three points at the death, not that it really meant that much for either teams in the long run. After a rather rotten run of form in recent weeks, AFC Langtree took full advantage of their match against bottom of the table East Kilbride with a 3-0 win which will keep them ticking over and improve morale which will be important as the end of the season is so near. A frantic first half at the Plympton Community Stadium ended with the Armed Forces holding a 2-1 lead, sadly the crowd weren’t treated to an equally exciting second half and that’s how it finished. Finally, two goalless draws occurred during the week as four safe teams decided to call it a day with four matches still to go. Brampton drew at Orga and Carvi Albion held Hoventon & Corlington Town to a draw to give all of those teams a point, which will keep them ticking over for the end of the season, even if they surrendered some potential points and places in the MPL table.

Three matchdays to go in the MPL and it was business as usual for all of the front runners. All eyes were now on the remaining spots for the Globe Cup with three teams fighting for two remaining Globe Cup spots that the UICA have given us. Elspachia’s resurgence from midtable obscurity came to an end at the hands of Orga City as the Brenecian Tynesman bagged the winning shot after just fifteen minutes on the clock. That result meant AFC Langtree had the opportunity to put distance between themselves and their main rivals, but they couldn’t make it count and could only hold the Armed Forces to a draw away from home. That point may help them come the end of the season but they could have made it more with a goal at any point in the game. Another team who have slipped into relative danger after a string of poor results were also in action against title challengers Zoloroni Metropolitan. Ezekiel Kramini set the early pace with two goals in eight minutes which put United two goals up after just twenty-two minutes. Metropolitan needed to get back into the game and gave themselves a foothold in the game with a van Krujkens goal on the stroke of half time, that comeback was completed when national team member Noah Park finding an equaliser and Quebecois striker LeBlanc finding a last second strike in added time to confirm the win for Metropolitan in their quest for a first title. That task was made infinitely more difficult as Zoloroni City comfortably beat Acoflosa United at the Coma Tudo Stadium which gives them a commanding position with only two games left to play. Nymark and Mossec combined to put three past Acoflosa who could only respond with a late penalty to add little resistance to the Zoloroni City steam train. Along with all the happenings at the top, there were also matches being played at the bottom where one team was relegated while one team was on the brink. EKU finally went down after a dismal season, they lost 1-0 at home to Carvi Albion, a team who have surprised many by finishing so high with a limited budget. In the other relegation matchup, Plympton Town shoved Alton Swifts one foot out the door with an impressive 2-0 win over their neighbours and relegation rivals, Holden and the young striker Arkelton bagging the goals for their team which all but guarantees their spot in the MPL next season. Brampton United were another team who were in a spot of bother, but they eased any nerves from relegation as they travelled to the Hoventon Community Stadium and beat the mid-table team 2-0, a result which puts them in the MPL next season. Finally, the match that hardly enyone was keeping track of was Coral Island vs. Zholvi, these two teams who were safe in the middle of the table played out a rather exciting match, as Zholvi came from behind to take the three points from this rather meaningless game.

Uh oh, two matches to go in the season and we have things cleared up at the top and the bottom, Zoloroni City were confirmed as champions at the Sports City Stadium as they overcame a scare against Coral Island to win 3-2 which means they hold a six-point lead with only one match left to play, ironically against their title rivals. Despite winning 3-1 away at Zholvi Athletic, the other capital team will have to do with the Globe Cup while improving their squad with top high value signings. Webster, Verbeck and Power, who have been excellent for the team this season and are likely to keep their spots for next season all got on the scoresheet and cancelled out Mork’s opener which was Zholvi lead for most of the match. At the other end of the table, Alton Swifts were the second and final casualty of the drop as a 1-1 draw away at Acoflosa United wasn’t enough to save them, Roxlyn-Canterpietre opened the scoring at the Coma Tudo Stadium but a very late Miles Taezhong goal meant they went down with one game to spare, while Acoflosa aim to put this season behind them. With the top and bottom sorted out, eyes now turn to the battle for the Globe Cup, we know Zoloroni Metropolitan will be in that after missing out on the Champion’s Cup, but there were still two places to be decided. Langtree United ensured they will be taking part in international football next season with a narrow 3-2 win over Orga City, all of their three main strikers got on the scoresheet with their goals being bookended by Orga’s Tynesman who is making a good run for the golden boot by herself when the rest of the team aren’t supporting her, leaving Orga City with a mid-table finish. For the other Globe Cup spot, it’s a straight fight between Elspachia and AFC Langtree with Elspachia holding the advantage but both sides have plenty of momentum with one mistake potentially being costly for both sides. An ill-tempered Elspachia had to come from behind at half-time thanks to Chillotov’s brace of penalties giving his team a 2-1 lead, but a Garrido double in sixteen minutes re-established his team’s lead to keep Elspachia in the final Globe Cup spot with one match to play. On the other side of the story, AFC Langtree kept up their pressure on fourth place as Dimitri Lamorka bailed them out to take down a now safe Plympton Town by two goals to one with Juvencus’ Angelino Alberighi getting a consolation goal for his team. Finally, there were wins for the Armed Forces who beat Carvi Albion 1-0 while Brampton United got their three points against a long since relegated East Kilbride. Only two teams have something to play for (other than pride) going into the final day.

The 30th game of the season marked the end of the season for out MPL teams, with two teams departing and being replaced with two fresh teams who were promoted from National League 1. As we said previously, there was one final Globe Cup spot which needed to be decided with one final match, and it was Elspachia who claimed the final spot with a favourable final match against East Kilbride. The team they beat 7-0 earlier in the season came up with a more mellowed performance, only scoring once in the match to secure the win and to guarantee their spot in the Globe Cup next season regardless of the result in Alton. In that match, Alton Swifts departed the league with a whimper as they were lost 2-0 to AFC Langtree with two goals in the first half to see them out. Despite the win, AFC Langtree miss out on a Globe Cup spot, with the mid-season wobble proving to be fatal to their UICA hopes, giving Elspachia a spot in the multiverse’s biggest domestic cup competition. Covering the rest of the action, champions-elect Zoloroni City ended their season with a big loss against their fierce rivals Zoloroni Metropolitan. Chase LeBlanc will no doubtedly be remembered in Metropolitan folk lore as he scores a hattrick for his team which gives the fans some bragging rights for the off-season, but we all know City bettered them over the course of the season by clinching the MPL title and the spot at the Champion’s Cup next season. The Armed Forces have a cup final to plan for, which meant they fielded a team of subs and youth players, that action meant Brampton had an easier time of it and it teed up Kris Linde to find the winner in the final minute of regulation time to end the season filled with many lows, on a high. A similar match happened at the Partush Arena where two hosting neighbours Orga and Zholvi fought a close match in a half-filled stadium. Scredda Smith curled a in a goal in the first half, which was ultimately the winner in a match where neither team were interested in the result because it didn’t really mean anything. Two teams who were putting on a show for their fans were Coral Island and Acoflosa United who scored 6 goals between them in a match which was certainly the match of the day. Acoflosa scored four in the first half, giving them one hand on the win which would lift them into the top half, but Coral Island finished strong with two goals of their own to make the result more respectable but it wasn’t enough to snatch a remarkable points, Acoflosa chalking another win on the final day of the season. Finally, there were draws for Langtree United, Hoventon, Plympton and Carvi who all drew 1-1 to add a final point to their tally. So in the end, it was Zoloroni who topped the tree, with Zoloroni Metropolitan, Langtree United and Elspachia taking the Globe Cup spots, while Alton Swifts and East Kilbride United drop down to be replaced by two new teams for next season.

Only two matches were played in the MFA Cup semi-finals as four teams battled for two spots at the MFA Cup Final which will be played at Mercedini’s national stadium in Zoloroni Sports City. The teams who plays at that very stadium will not be making an appearance as table-toppers Zoloroni City were dumped out in a feisty battle with the Armed Forces. The high pressure from the defence meant Zoloroni couldn’t get their tiki-taka play into effect. Goals from the two talisman Crasic and Denjamic gave them a two-goal advantage and even though conceded late on with a Bert Paki goal, they held on to make it to their first cup final. Joining them will be Elspachia, who made it an all-MPL final as they overcame second-tier Dynamo Shebchetsik at the Razrabotka Stadion to face the Armed Forces in the MFA Cup final. A double from Vaselko was all it took to send the National League 1 side out of the competition after a tremendous run which got them to the semi-finals on their first go. We will see the teams in a couple of weeks’ time when they will try to win the first MFA Cup and a spot at the Cygnus Cup.

Domestic sport in Mercedini has rarely had many shocks down the line, with the footballing season going as many predicted along with many of the big spenders claiming the Hockey Champions League, but this season may be the benchmark for sporting surprises, as the Acoflosa Penguins claim the first ever Super League trophy with the small club losing only one game throughout the whole season to fend off the titans of Zoloroni and Shebchetsik to win outright and become the first name etched onto the MSL trophy. It was an up and down season for the Penguins as they drew the majority of their matches, but their wins against smaller teams combined their ability to hold the big teams to a draw meant they came out on top, surprising even the most enthusiastic of Penguins fans. One point further back, and claiming second place after thie victory last season is HK Dynamo Shebchetsik, who turned a rather disappointing season into a silver lining as they managed to climb a couple more places in the last few match days. While they beat their main rivals in Zoloroni, it's another bitter pill to take for the Shebnatsiyan nationals who miss out on their first official title by one place after winning the Exhibition League last time round. They do claim another Hockey Champion's League which will help their coefficient down the line and could give them a group stage place from the get-go, saving precious resources that could have been spent on qualification matches. Due to the Penguins heroics this season, the Zoloroni City Icers also fall one place to third as they finish two points off the top spot in a season which was defined by small margins. Their eight wins eclipsed that of the eventual champions, but too many losses and too many dropped points added up for the capital club, who record their lowest placing out of the two seasons. Finally, and another big surprise will see Trivotex Hockey in the Hockey Champions League for the first time in the club's history. The tiny club on the outskirts of the nation's capital will play international hockey with some of the biggest clubs in the multiverse after edging out HCL candidates AHC Langtree on goal difference. Trivotex Hockey were considered relegation candidates for the upcoming season, but they could reap the benefits of their hard work with a debut berth on domestic hockey's biggest stage. At the other end of the table, Exton Islanders will feature in the best-of-five relegation playoff with the winner of the Mercedinian Development League, the nation's second tier. The Islanders struggled all season long and only recorded three wins and nine points in their eighteen games, ultimately finishing two points away from safety. It will be a blow for Exton who are seen as a safely mid-table team, losing them would be a shock but it is ultimately down to the five matches that the two teams will have to play to earn their spot in the MSL.

In a season of surprises, the Super League season ended with one final giant killing as SKK Ogdenagorv beat the odds to promote themselves to the nations highest domestic hockey league as the expense of the incumbent Super League team. It was honours even after the first two matches as Ogdenagorv held their own in both matches in Exton, even scoring a late winner to open the playoffs with a 3-2 win, while Exton tied up the scores with a comprehensive 4-1 win a couple of days later. As the MDL winners, Ogdenagorv got the advantage of playing three of the five matches at home and the immediately put that to good use, winning both of their home fixtures to promote themselves and relegate Exton. It was a tight third game with Exton sending their hosts into overtime, but Ogdenagorv came through in overtime in a crushing defeat for the Islanders. It wasn't really a contest in the fourth and final match as Ogdenagorv ran away with it, putting six past their opponents in a 6-1 thrashing to ensure their played Super League hockey next season, rounding out a season of surprises.

Qualifying Rounds

Today, the Mercedinian season formally kicks off as the final rounds of MFA Cup Qualifying coming to fruition. Sixteen teams who have already gone through one round of qualification will battle out for the four spots remaining in the MFA Cup proper. All teams involved in qualifying are two matches away from facing one of the nation's larger clubs and four matches away from potentially playing a MPL club. Team from the MPL, the two National Leagues and all the teams in Non-League will all face off in this seasons domestic trophy and only one team will come out as the victors of this season's MFA Cup. The fixtures involving league teams will be intermingled throughout the league calendar, and if matches result in a tie, the reverse fixture will be played in a replay. If the replay results in a tie after regulation time, then it will run to extra time and penalties if need be. This season's MFA Cup Qualifiers were split into teams from the east and west to cut travelling times and costs for our non-league teams with two from each section moving on to the MFA Cup proper.

The Mercedinian football season officially got underway with the first qualifying round of the MFA Cup getting underway. Sixteen teams will fight for four spots over two rounds to complete the line-up of the MFA Cup proper. This season, regulations brought in by the Mercedinian Football Association meant qualification was split up into two sections with east and west sections to cut travelling times and costs for all of the non-league teams involved in the domestic cup, considering they all have limited budgets compared to the big boys of Mercedinian football. Blue Strike Zoloroni, Maaston, Ansav Town and Colwyn Park Avenue all made it through in eastern qualification while Sutsik Chernomorets and Colton & Dorvin Albion joined them straight off the bat while SRC (rebranded from Southern Rural Coalition) and Kirkenton Rovers both needed replays to make it through their match. All teams get a short windfall for their victories and move on to the next round to fight for a spot in the first round. Watch this space, as you could see some of these teams go far in the tournament.

Only one match stood between our teams and the MFA Cup proper, although eight teams had to become four to complete out line-up for the first round. Starting with eastern qualifying, Blue Strike's investment in their new found club came good as they made it to the first round proper for the first time with a comprehensive 3-0 away win at Maaston Athletic, they could be a force to be reckon with in the cup this season ifthe matches fall in their favour. They were joined by Ansav Town who battled hard over two matches to beat Colwyn Park Avenue to qualify for the second time in a row from non-league. the first match ended in a one-all draw but Ansav Town asserted their dominance in the second leg with a 2-0 win in front of their own fans. In the western part of qualifying, two more teams put their names in the hat for the first round. Kirkenton Rovers defied the odds with a very impressive 4-1 win over SRC to ensure they will go to the first round of the first time. Sutsik Chernomorets will join then after they caused the shock of the round by beating NL2 relegated Colton & Dorvin Albion after two matches plus extra time. Two close matches which both finished nil-nil before a goal in extra time in front of their own fans was enough to send them through for their debut in the MFA Cup proper in a couple of weeks time.

Mercedini Armed Forces win 2-1 on aggregate

International football kicked off in Mercedini for the first time in the nation's history this season with the Mercedini Armed Forces kicking it all off in the Cygnus Cup. They won the MFA Cup to qualify for the tournament but had to go through a play-in to advance to the main portion of qualifying. They played Vierion Fire from Dragonii which were a team and a nation which, quite frankly, we had never heard of. The first leg was a very tight affair in Dragonii, but crucially, MAF found an away goal in the first half. The teams exchanged shots throughout the game which finished 1-1 with both teams having everything to play for. The Armed Forces travelled back to Mercedini with that away goal in hand, but any slip up at home would mean Vierion would go through. The tie went in the Armed Forces' favour as the match remained goalless for most of the game which put the away goal more into play. With ten minutes to go, the Armed Forces took the outright lead with a converted penalty from Cosneoltan Saulius Laukkanen. It was enough to get them through to the main portion of Cygnus Cup qualifying. They got Mercedini off to a winning start on their international debut.

Celtic Scot & Éire YA (CSE) win 3-2 on aggregate

Since Zoloroni City won the MPL and were admitted into the Champion's Cup, this meant their youth team could tag along and paritipcate in the UICA Youth Cup. They were in the Champion's Path which is pretty self explanatory and were drawn against the youth team of Celtic Scotland & Eire. The opening leg, played and the Zoloroni University Campus was a rather wet rag of a match with neither team asserting their dominance in the match. The rather small crowd watched on as Zoloroni City saw out their first round match with relative ease, both teams with still plenty to play for the the first leg ending goalless. When the teams went back to CSE, they went at each other from the first minute with both teams looking for a goal to ignite their campaign. Zoloroni City had the upper hand when it came to goals as any goal they scored would be an away goal, meaning CSE would need to equalise and find another to win the match. A frantic first half saw both teams score twice with City's Boney striker Gulpin scoring twice in the match to give them the upper hand with one half left. Unfortunately, the second half didn't go their way and CSE found what turned out to be the winner in the second half, making the scoreline and the tie in CSE's favour. Zoloroni City's youth team fall at the first hurdle but gain plenty of experience from what was a big match for the young team.
