Brief history of your nation: In the very early days of the Black Out, much of Baja California had been in a state of anarchy with the local policía being bogged down in rioting and looting. Within only a week, the Governor of Baja California had abandoned the entire state after roving gangs of motorcycle desperadoes became the ruling faction to dominate what was left of Tijuana and Mexicali.
It was naturally chaotic during this time, up until when American border patrolmen and military personnel started to defect south of the border to avoid the even more hectic state of both California and Arizona up north in quite large numbers. Many were simply desperate to get out of the States, or in the case of a couple hundred sailors, needed somewhere to dock that wasn't San Diego. The Confederados were quick to dispatch the roving desperado biker gangs from the more populated areas of northern Baja with help from the locals.
But with no where else to go afterwards, the Americans remained situated and soon became rather unwelcomed squatters for the locals to feed, there was much tension that grew between the two groups of people. Within about a year, the tensions finally came to an ugly head and flared into rioting and infighting once more, though this time was proven to be much shorter after bandits from up north began to threaten the fertile lands of Mexicali, prompting the Americans and Mexicans to cooperate together in order to avoid complete destruction, even despite the animosity and grudges that they both shared with one another.
After another year more, and with its territory more thoroughly secured and guarded, the first democratic election was held in Tijuana and Mexicali in 2008 with the former Mexican state senator, Maria Rodriguez, winning the election and becoming Baja's own El Presidente, and with that brought in the existence of the República de Baja California. It was indeed an official sign that the old world was long over and dead, and that the new one was going to be here for a long time to come.
As more years went by, the Confederados were settling in more to their Mexican homesteads and became much more friendly with the native population, but there were still many more hurdles to be crossed and old grudges always tended to die hard. As many Americans refused to become citizens to the new República, seeing themselves a merely being refugees or exiles from their home country that only existed now in spirit, even if it meant they couldn't vote in the elections. It was a lasting testament that shall be challenged in time.
Government Form: Military backed Ayuntamiento
Army Size: 25,000
Army Technology: A modest supply of modern equipment and support weapons supplemented by defected US Military personnel and border patrolmen, as well as equipment from former Mexican Armed Force and policía units. There's been a heavy reemergence of cavalrymen and logistical lines full of mules and donkeys since the Black Out and the gradual deterioration of gasoline following the apocalypse and the complete collapse of global trade.
Navy Size:-24 designated light patrol crafts requestioned from speedy civilian sail boats.
Territory of country: From Tijuana to Mexicali, with incorporated townships in the northern parts of Baja California.
-2 diesel powered tug boats.

The western united states is rather known for being the part of the country with the most mountains. You got the Rockies, the Cascades, and the Sierra Nevada just to name a few.

Well actually, I kind of made it that much because I was worried I would be told I had too many people, and would need to lower the number, because of mountains being harder to support too many people and all that. I'll add more now, if I'm allowed too.
It probably wouldn't be more than 300,000 though, because its still, for the most part, a large group of small tribes and villages that have joined together just recently.

Brief history of your nation:
When the lights went out, the Canadian Rockies were seen as a sort of safe haven. Some thought that there would be enough game for them to survive off of hunting, while others sought sanctuary in the mountains from the belief that the harsh winters would scare off many potential raiders. Sadly, those in the second group were wrong, and it wasn't long before multiple tribes of raiders began popping up all around the mountain range.
Before long, the attempts at creating larger settlements fell apart, and the people who fled there began to form small mountain tribes and villages of their own, doing there best to eek out a living. A few of the more established villages began to create farms, some even having domesticated musk oxen as livestock. One of the largest was the village beside Mount Robson berg lake, which had been founded very shortly after the first wave of refugees fled to the mountain.
However, raiders and bandits were still a constant threat, with more than a few villages being either pressed into servitude or completely wiped out. Finally, after three years of hearing of the other villages suffering, a man from Robson had had enough.
Jeremy Lindall, a nineteen year old hunter from the village, had been pretty much obsessed with feudal cultures and military tactics since he was a child. When a raider scouting party was spotted not far from the village, he helped organise the soldiers and warriors, and began setting traps around the village. He also asked the builders to help him create a series of wooden and stone walls and barricades, around the village. None of them were as big as the original village walls, but when the raiders arrived, they helped to either funnel them into choke points and traps, or slow them down for the soldiers to shoot as they tried to climb over them.
Emboldened by his victory, Jeremy began convincing soldiers and warriors from other nearby villages to join him, beginning a campaign to wipe out the raider clans located throughout the mountain range, and possibly see if they could unify the villages into a single country.
After three and a half years, his army had grown exponentially, and practically every raider gang in the Rockies had either fled or been destroyed. After this success, many of the villages in the Rockies began to see Jeremy as their leader, and it wasn't long before they started identifying themselves as a single nation, with him as their high chief. Jeremy, deciding that they should attempt to at least progress past a tribal government, and declared the founding of the Kingdom of Cordillera.
Over the next year and a half, Jeremy has been focusing on strengthening the nation internally. He started using messengers with bikes to spread information between villages, and helping them get built up by providing them with knowledge of carpentry, masonry, and farming. He also used them to transport seeds for vegetables that could survive in the colder, alpine environments.
As the numerous villages became closer and more unified, the more central and larger settlements began to get more built up, and after the year and a half, Robson had become a large, heavily fortified citadel, with many rudimentary amenities and an organised, powerful military.
Now that they have become a more established, singular nation, Jeremy and his advisors have decided to look outwards, both in terms of expanding the kingdom and diplomatic interactions with the nearby nations.
Government Form: Elective Monarchy
Army Size:

Many of the guns owned by the original refugees ran out of ammunition long ago, fending off raiders. However, many former members of old world militaries knew to use their ammo sparingly, so the nation still has a few small stockpiles of modern firearms and the appropriate ammunition in the larger villages. Many Cordillerans use either horses or bicycles to get around quickly.

That is quite a bit of land, larger than most nations combined, and it would be too hard to actually hold all of it, so I'm going to ask you to reduce it by a lot. Otherwise, I'm pulling the reservation off Vancouver City, so you can claim that if you like, just keep in mind the player running Vancouver Island had a running lore that the city became devastated and refugees tried going to the island, but were turned back by the island's new government.

Yeah, I actually thought it might be. I'd hoped that the whole part where they were less established than most other nations, still largely consisting of multiple small, separate villages, would make it more acceptable, but I'm fine with it if that isn't the case. I'm just having a little bit if trouble trying to make it smaller, because I'm not very smart, and I have very limited Internet on my phone. In trying to narrow it down to a still decently large area surrounding Mount Robson, where my capital is. Unfortunately, from the maps I've been able to actually get up, it seems like the mountains actually in the northern area of the mountain range, where I'd originally thought it was further south. Do you have any advice for how I can do this properly?

The cascades are probably not the best choice if you want to be away from people at the start, since they are fairly populated by players. Otherwise there are mountain passes and defensible areas in the rest of the Rockies, Wyoming being one of the better examples with the Tetons, and Colorado also being a wise choice because the western half of the state is hard to reach from the eastern side. The main thing is you said you wanted a fairly large nation, and Mount Robson and that part of the Canadian Rockies are too unlivable to support that many people, while the American Rockies have plenty of valleys, plains, and prairies nearby to support larger groups of people.
The Rockies do take up almost the entirety of the western US, so it's not that hard to find a mountainous area.
It's fine, your not bothering me or anything so don't worry about it.
EDIT: Western Montana has a good chunk of mountains you could roam around, and it's not too close to anyone yet.

When the lights went out, the mountainous areas were seen as a sort of safe haven. Some thought that there would be enough game for them to survive off of hunting, while others sought sanctuary in the mountains from the belief that the harsher conditions would scare off many potential raiders. Sadly, those in the second group were wrong, and it wasn't long before multiple tribes of raiders began popping up all around the mountain range.
Before long, most of the attempts at creating larger settlements fell apart, and the people who fled there began to form small mountain tribes and villages of their own, doing there best to eek out a living while cannibalising the nearby towns for building materials. A few of the more established villages began to create farms, some even having domesticated livestock. One of the largest was the village built around the Whitefish mountain resort , which had been founded very shortly after the first wave of refugees fled to the mountain.
However, raiders and bandits were still a constant threat, with more than a few villages being either pressed into servitude or completely wiped out. Finally, after three years of hearing of the other villages suffering, a man from Whitefish had had enough.
Emboldened by his victory, Jeremy began convincing soldiers and warriors from other nearby villages to join him, beginning a campaign to wipe out the raider clans located throughout the mountains, and possibly see if they could unify the villages into a single country.
After three and a half years, his army had grown exponentially, and practically every raider gang in the Rockies had either fled or been destroyed. After this success, many of the villages in the mountains of Montana began to see Jeremy as their leader, and it wasn't long before they started identifying themselves as a single nation, with him as their high chief. Jeremy, deciding that they should attempt to at least progress past a tribal government, and declared the founding of the Kingdom of Elaine.
Over the next year and a half, Jeremy has been focusing on strengthening the nation internally. He started using messengers with bikes or horses to spread information between villages, and helping them get built up by providing them with knowledge of carpentry, masonry, and farming. He also used them to transport seeds for vegetables that could survive in the colder, alpine environments.
As the numerous villages became closer and more unified, the more central and larger settlements began to get more built up, and after the year and a half, Whitefish had become a large, heavily fortified citadel, with many rudimentary amenities and an organised, powerful military.
Now that they have become a more established, singular nation, Jeremy and his advisors have decided to look outwards, both in terms of expanding the kingdom and diplomatic interactions with the nearby nations.
Government Form: Elective Monarchy
Army Size:
687 Elainian soldiers (former military members, with official military training and modern firearms)
30,000 Elainian warriors (former civilians, generally using medieval level equipment)
Army Technology: A large portion of the Elainian military use weaponry and armour of a feudal technological level. Many of the guns owned by the original refugees ran out of ammunition long ago, fending off raiders. However, many former members of old world militaries knew to use their ammo sparingly, so the nation still has a few small stockpiles of modern firearms and the appropriate ammunition in the larger villages. Many Elainians use either horses or bicycles to get around quickly.
