The Black Hills tribal Confederation, uses a barter system, using jewelery and crafts as well as meat and animal furs and hides to get what they need, though the barter system is superceded at certain points when need be.

I had contemplated using newly made gold coins or similar things for currency, but the barter system works for now.

Also, because that post of mine was a bit gamey, building a ship in 4 years and all without electricity, I'll be sure to put myself behind later on. Its just a nonmilitary steamship, so it really isn't that big a deal in the long run, but right now it feels odd to just be pulling that out of a hat.

Nothing. Barter is what the aztlaners are using right now, along with a communal pool of resources. pretty much rationing and keeping everything communal instead of individual. more valuable goods like weapons, jewelry, and anything purely for aesthetic purposes are bartered for though.


Building a whole ship in 4 years without mechanization makes sense I feel backatri. could look up how long it took to build similar scale ships historically. But most wouldn't even take a year.

I think most people are just going to use some form of bartering for now. With how things are now, though, if you want to implement a currency there will have to be something backing it, a la gold standard. A ration card is a good example. You could technically make any object currency, as long as the government allows that object to be redeemed for something, most likely food. Ideally it would also be rare enough so as not to cause inflation, and also something specific to your region.

Also I am a little skeptical of ration cards being viable in the long run. Wouldn't paper quickly become a scarce resource in the new world?

Steel Coins, along with just about any other easy to find metal.

In the OP it says that shoddily made wooden boats are just being recently brought back, there are exceptions of course, but not for larger ships. As for a Steamship, building that from scratch, i say that is a no go, unless Idaho says otherwise. I myself found some Steamboats, diesel powered sernwheelers, but i only have one icly, and they were present before the Power Went out.

Of course, it could be possible depending, they would need the tools adn the know how to do it wihout electricity as well as the parts or the know how to make those.

EDIT: upon word from Idaho, it is possible, as long as you ahd people that had the know how, but it would be easier to have a steamboat made than a steamship, but yeah as long as no armadas of them are attempted it is fine.

If it's trading with the outside we use bullets, mostly delivered at high velocity. After a successful delivery, we take what we want.

Internally the farmer/Craftsmen give fifty percent of what the produce to the governor, when give sixty percent the the Consul. The lower ranks than decide what to do with the goods left to then while the governors and Consul use the goods to equip the arny/stir up in case of emergency.

At some point in the future perhaps, but Idaho had said before that claims depend upon the size of the counties or such, someone claimed some land in Canada, but that is because there is not a lot of population there, adn any would eb spread out, but for the counties you mentioned, there would probably be some resistance or such, just don't make the acquisition of counties too easy, ok.

You are absolutely correct, I forgot about resistence against my expansion in the counties, but I will try to make such an expanse realistic. Thank you for for the advice, and notification, I will take it into account certainly.

This is not an acceptance or a denial, but if you want the app to be accepted, as you ahve it, i would suggest expandig the history adn such, the population is around a fourth of what those 9 counties held altogether before, also expanding to jsutify why their military is such a large portion of their population, would be good as well, as even the modern day United States military is around a 300th of the total pop, albeit the sizes are much different but still, there must/should be a historical reason why the military is more than a 6th the size of the total population.

Basically, expand the bio and possibly anythign else if you want, to explain and justify why and how they control so much territory and the like.

Brief history of your nation: In the very early days of the Black Out, much of Baja California had been in a state of anarchy with the local policía being bogged down in rioting and looting. Within only a week, the Governor of Baja California had abandoned the entire state after roving gangs of motorcycle desperadoes became the ruling faction to dominate what was left of Tijuana and Mexicali.

It was naturally chaotic during this time, up until when American border patrolmen and military personnel started to defect south of the border to avoid the even more hectic state of both California and Arizona up north in quite large numbers. Many were simply desperate to get out of the States, or in the case of a couple hundred sailors, needed somewhere to dock that wasn't San Diego. The Confederados were quick to dispatch the roving desperado biker gangs from the more populated areas of northern Baja with help from the locals.

But with no where else to go afterwards, the Americans remained situated and soon became rather unwelcomed squatters for the locals to feed, there was much tension that grew between the two groups of people. Within about a year, the tensions finally came to an ugly head and flared into rioting and infighting once more, though this time was proven to be much shorter after bandits from up north began to threaten the fertile lands of Mexicali, prompting the Americans and Mexicans to cooperate together in order to avoid complete destruction, even despite the animosity and grudges that they both shared with one another.

After another year more, and with its territory more thoroughly secured and guarded, the first democratic election was held in Tijuana and Mexicali in 2008 with the former Mexican state senator, Maria Rodriguez, winning the election and becoming Baja's own El Presidente, and with that brought in the existence of the República de Baja California. It was indeed an official sign that the old world was long over and dead, and that the new one was going to be here for a long time to come.

As more years went by, the Confederados were settling in more to their Mexican homesteads and became much more friendly with the native population, but there were still many more hurdles to be crossed and old grudges always tended to die hard. As many Americans refused to become citizens to the new República, seeing themselves a merely being refugees or exiles from their home country that only existed now in spirit, even if it meant they couldn't vote in the elections. It was a lasting testament that shall be challenged in time.
