Gotcha, I just remembered reading in the intro that some old diesel trucks might still work and thought a similar situation might exist with old planes. Goes to show what I know about engines.

Anyways, getting started on my first IC post.

I am not sure how i feel about there being a coalition of raiders to my south. That being said, there should be no problems, for now.

I feel I should remind people it's been only 8 years, and not every group would get entrenched so fast. It's not even been a full generation so really nothing is very set and everyone remembers the old ways.

Takes more than 8 years for governments to really get entrenched and familiar. Everyone seems too stable and safe, especially for all the autocrats ruling people used to freedom and democracy.

maybe, don't forget, my peeps ae the ones who made contact with the Us Army, though by accident, and they are the closest. :P

In all seriousness though, possibly. My people are probably better equipped and more unified, so they wouldnt come out to badly in any skirmishes, but perhaps we could arrange an actual meeting, instead of jsut a vague awareness, of one another.

That is true, part of the reason why the OP has the event system, but humanity has also had no real choice, but to adapt in some areas.

My people are a confederation of sorts and things are dealt with democratically, to a point, there are similarities, but still, my point stands, though yes, things in some places should not be so stable, though they might be less stable than they appear ic'ly.

In my next post, i am introducing a conflict with a group of local raiders, as well as some problems with the main source of meat, ranching.

On another Note, I am now a Co-OP, Though i cant accept your apps, i am here to answer questions and such, though Idaho, being OP, has final ruling.

Afraid I ain't so stable as my people heavily rely on trade since they are mostly artist and smash poets who revived a long-dead subculture to stay alive.

I forgot that, but we do have guns and the ability to mass produce them, just that we aren't the most skilled since most rather trade and promote Greaser/Beatnik culture than flex marshal might. But an actual meeting can be arranged.

What guns and how?

I have the machines to make guns and ammo, but they obviously don't work due to the Coronal Mass Ejection frying the wiring and such.

My people can hand make the ammo to modern weapons, as well as old west weapons, which was a major export for the Black Hills.

Perhaps after the timeskip, i could have an Expedition that passes by your area. There will be a brief expedition planned to the east, slightly, there could be a branch expedition that headed south, and wound up in your region, or the like.

EDIT: I saw the muskets bit in your app

Yeah my tech for military is Civil War-level with some use of old diesel trucks. I will be adding boats and canoes in my app to travel up river because bandits have started to become a major problem for the trade route to the West Coast and the Union doesn't want to keep trade on just the land.

Yeah, kinda rushed my first IC post and am now realizing I worded part of it in a way I didn't mean to. When I said Halland is "stable," I meant "stable when considering most of its political elite is made up of people used to killing someone over the slightest perceived inconvenience."

There's a reason Halland stopped expanding and has focused solely on raiding almost immediately after it was met with unified resistance from its neighbors. It would not do well in prolonged warfare. At least as things are now.

Yeah, besides for most, they only ahve one post out, so far, I myself am working on my 4th, but still, not really ehough, to show really instability, IC'ly. Besides I think, for most, up until this point, recently, they have been more preoccupied with surviving, thus why some have chosen to expand, because they believe they are stable, but they may not actually be so.

That may be true, but diesel engines on aircraft are a rather rare thing, and a major attempt to switch from avgas to diesel was not re-attempted until the 2010s, last being tried in the 1920s and 1930s.

I was just trying to give a friendly reminder, more than anything. People are doing great so far. I'll probably end up sending people out to explore and set up trade once Aztlan gets more set up for instance, and the npc kingdom to the South is going to be annoying to them too :p

Anyways, detailed some of the raider issue, as well as the slight dissonance between the factions and future plans.

Well, first time applying for a nation RP. Sorry this is kind of silly (and ridiculously short) but I thought it'd be kind of funny to play a fairly topical cult.

NS Nation Name: Kentucky Fried Land
Nation Name: Bozoism
Leader Position and Name: Jingles the Clown
Capital: Port Townsend, Washington
Population: 334
Flag of your nation: Flag
Brief history of your nation: Nobody’s really sure where these clowns really came from. The town of Port Townsend was once quite normal; full of men, women, children, and animals alike. It wasn’t until their fourth year that they noticed their terrible situation. It started off innocent enough. Discarded flowers, bowling pins, echoing squeaks heard from alleyways. It only grew worse.

Children disappeared, “funny-looking” figures were seen hiding in sewers, standing at the end of streets holding balloons, and some of the men and women of Port Townsend were seen in full clown garb themselves. They began hearing violent honking and beeping at night, and more and more members disappeared. Now, Port Townsend sits empty, or so it seems. Though something lurks deep in the town, waiting...
Government Form: Theocracy
Army Size: 334
Army Technology: Clown prank items and such, primitive weapons.
Navy Size: None
Territory of country: Port Townsend, Washington
1801 - DO NOT REMOVE

NS Nation Name: Pasong Tirad
Nation Name: Mendocino Communities
Leader Position and Name: Chief of Chiefs, Paul Samuels
Capital: Alder Springs, Glenn County, deep within the forest.

However, only regular government work is done in Alder Springs. Whenever the councils need to meet, they go to Alder Springs. Most of the commerce of the communities (actual trade with other nations) happens in four different cities: Elk Creek in Glenn County to the East, Lucerne in Lake County to the South, Ukiah in Mendocino County to the West and Covelo in Mendocino County to the Northwest.

Population: ~90,000
Flag of your nation: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... scadia.svg

Brief history of your nation: When the lights went out, the people of Mendocino, Glenn and Lake Counties weren't spared from the ensuing onslaught of killing and raiding. While they were living in rural areas they still depended on the technology that the cities would be dependent on: electricity, generators, the internet. The crippling of their capabilities made many cities go dark and turn inside out due to the chaos of not trusting their neighbor. The really smart people went to the forests of Mendocino National Park and banded together to form communities inside the forest - campsites, tent cities, log cabin hotels, etc. - These cities were basically independent, but were always united whenever necessary, much like the early United States. These communities decided that for their safety much of their population (those that were able to survive the initial chaos) would live inside the forest, protected by the dense trees of the National Park as well as by the elevation of the Mendocino Range.

In the six years since the EMP turned out the lights, the communities of the Mendocino, Glenn and Lake Counties were able to band together to form a loose confederation, with a Chief of Chiefs leading them. They band together out of a common necessity both for trade and survival. Lake County has fish, Mendocino County has farmland, Glenn county has livestock - as well as trade for several other commodities. Their main purpose, however, is the protection, conservation, and eventual proliferation of their forests. The forests saved these people, and they intend to return the favor - even if it means aggressively making sure the forests and the lives they've built in these forests are safe.

Government Form: Confederated Chiefdom - the three counties elect a Chief and a Deputy Chief to send to the Mendocino Council. Among the three Chiefs, a Chief of Chiefs is selected for a one-year term - if the Chief is selected from Lake County, the Deputy Chief will step up for the year, etc. The Chief of Chiefs acts both as Chief Executive and Chief Justice, while the Chiefs and all the other representatives of the counties act as the Chief of Chief's check on power, as well as the main body that crafts laws in the Mendocino Communities.

Army Size: ~900 men who are armed with hunting rifles, shotguns and muskets (The Mendocino Rangers), 150 men with AR-15s and other higher-calibre weapons (The Chief's Guard), with a large percentage of the population armed with some sort of weapon - either a crossbow, a bow or some kind of melee weapon ranging from swords and spears to hatchets, hammers and daggers (The Mendocino Minutemen)

Army Technology: The Mendocino Rangers, approx. 900 cavalrymen who patrol the areas outside of the National Forest and are armed with rifled muskets (paper catridges that can be easily produced) and some with the few hunting rifles and shotguns that can still be scavenged as well as spears and swords. The Chief's Guards, numbering around 150 men (30 men per Chief and 60 for the Chief of Chiefs) are armed with AR-15s and enough ammunition. The Mendocino Minutemen, the men and women who protect the forests and the communities (basically everyone who isn't elderly or a child) are armed mostly with crossbows (easier to make, easier to train with) and some bows along with whatever melee weapons they can get their hands on (hatchets, spears, swords, claw hammers). Firearms aren't allowed within the forest itself unless you're the Chief's Guard due to the fear that the forest might catch on fire.

Navy Size: Several fishing vessels (no more than several dozen) to patrol and guard Clear Lake, Black Butte Lake, Lake Pillsbury, and the three Reservoirs (Indian Valley, East Park, and Stony Gorge).

Territory of country: Mendocino County, Lake County, Glenn County - but their actual territory only really lies within the borders of the Mendocino National Forest, but they still patrol the borders of the three counties.

I feel like you read IT, watched Killer Clowns from Outer Space and were just like, 'Fuck It, lets make a nation of this shit.'

that being said, I would like to see more info about the history and how the place actually formed, but acceptance is up to Idaho, ultimately.

I would just like to say, I made a Tribal confederation/federation/group located within a National Forest, before it was considered cool.

That being said, there are around 5 tribal confederations or the like, so, i think any future apps for those may be denied/more heavily scrutinized. This is just a supposition, or the like, and only Idaho can accept or deny apps, fully.

People of the Horse- Oregon
Black Hills Tribal Confederation-Black Hills
The Kerouac Union-Texas
Federated Tribes of Aztlán-Mexico
Mendocino Communities-California

still, but it wasnt meant to sound like a complaint if it did, jsut an amusing situation.

Additionally, if you want to send an expedition my way, they could meet during the timeskip, as i am planning for one to be sent your way, since the expedition previously stopped at Cheyenne Mountain/

That's fine, I already stated that my people need to find another trade route to keep growing or they will stagnate, which is something that the Union faces as the trade through the Route is becoming increasingly threatened by bandits.
