"....leaving police baffled as yet another locked door murder was discovered this morning. We now go to Tom Hitchens outside the police station, Tom?"
"Thanks Marie. It was just hours ago when police discovered the body of Anne Tyler, an eighty seven year old woman, in her apartment. Authorities are saying that there were no signs of forced entry and nothing taken. According to the police reports, they were forced to use dental records to identify the remains. This marks the eighth murder in the last two months, beginning with the death of one month old Bonnie Smith in August."
"Now, Tom, are police looking into any suspects?"
"Nothing so far, Marie, but they aren't discounting the possibility of a serial killer. It's hard to say at this time."
"Thanks, Tom, and now to another ongoing story. Authorities are continuing to investigate the recent spat of blackouts throughout the state. While many have blamed the blackouts on failing infrastructure, the governor's office has stated it believes foul play may be involved."
"And in a bright spot of news: Kittens! The Carson county animal shelter is looking for families willing to..."
Welcome to Silent Horizon, a surreal survival horror RP taking place in and around the town of Carson, Arizona. Inspired by stories like The Mist and films like Lost Highway, it follows a group of survivors in the midst of a strange apocalypse where the very rules of reality seem to have changed. The darkness itself is alive and hunting humanity, becoming increasingly intelligent in its esoteric efforts against humanity. Carson is but a small stage in this vast catastrophe, and the survivors must work together to survive, not just against the hungry dark, but against humanity itself as the world goes mad.
Silent Horizon is a horror RP, first and foremost. Characters can and will die, so if your character is killed, you can create a new application and start fresh. The main plot will begin in a bar in Carson, where the characters have met either by intention or circumstance. Over the course of the story, they will attempt to escape the city and survive the horrors that await them, human or otherwise. Will the group survive the coming days, escaping to parts unknown? Or will they be consumed by the encroaching darkness, like so many others?
The darkness is waiting. You shouldn't keep it waiting.

Biography:Born to Mark and Anya Deckard in Ashen Falls, Oregon in 1988. Her family life would be fraught with trouble, as her father was unable to keep a steady job due to an increasingly problematic addiction to drink. This would eventually lead to the breakup of her family when she was eight, with her mother taking full custody and moving closer to family in Redwood Falls, Washington. There, Virginia would attend high school and eventually be accepted to Seattle University, graduating with a journalism degree. Her fledgeling career would be temporarily put on hold due to a death in the family, with her cousin losing her friend in an auto accident. Though Virginia did her best to console her cousin, she would eventually until she simply dropped off the face of the earth in 2013.
Roleplay Experience: OP Privilege
Virginia didn't take her cousin's disappearance well, retreating into social isolation. Never marrying and rarely having any kind of consistent relationship, romatic or otherwise, she pursued a rather impressive career in online journalism. While it wasn't the best paying job in the world, writing fluff pieces for Buzzfeed kept food on the table and the lights on. After years of doing this work, however, Virginia became alienated from her online work, wanting to actually be a "real journalist."
With that idea in mind, she took a vacation to travel the country, intending to document the lives of average Americans for a potential book.
Her travels landed her in Carson, where she would discover the story of a life time. It was just a question of whether or not she'd be alive to write it.

PLACEHOLDER BANNER
October 3rd, 1966, nearly 5 months after China tests it's third atomic weapon. Over the past three of those months, SR-71 recon planes have been flying over remote areas of the USSR to find some form of intel on whether or not the Soviets are aiding in Chinese nuclear weapons development. And while they haven't found evidence of a site in which such actions may take place, they did find something else. A large compound surrounding a moderately sized concrete structure near the Azerbaijan SSR, and Russian SFSR border. With such a proximity to both Turkey and Iran, NATO Intelligence collaborated on such a find, and concluded that such a site would be rather risky to leave unverified in nature.
They decided that something needed to be done. And like all thing bureaucratic, it took a long time for a decision to actually be made. In March of 1967, it was decided that a team would deploy from Iran, cross the Azerbaijani border, and trek across over 200km of Communist countryside to get to their destination. All the while needing to remain in complete secrecy, and all the while being declared dead to their respective publics. Brought together from every participating NATO country, and sworn to absolute secrecy.
But unknown to both the planners, and the team they assembled, the ghosts from an operation sealed and closed for over twenty years will make an appearance, and they threaten to turn the world on it's head.
