That chance seems to be very high. Especially considering the other people who had this kinda rating and when.

The Democrats just need to field someone with higher than a ~37% approval nationally, any blank slate can accomplish that. The only way Trump won't become a single-term president is if turnout is horrendously low, he has a massive turnaround, or the Democrats nominate a dull loser again.

The last option is a frighteningly real possibility.

I'm fairly certain that if Hilary were to run today, she would win. Any optimism from more moderate folk about a Trump presidency has utterly eroded and evaporated, and he's shown his true colors. He won by the most razor thin of margins in many states, and it does not take much lost support to swing these states. Michigan was won by a meager 11,000 votes; Wisconsin by 23,000; Pennsylvania by 43,000. Those three states alone would swing the entire election. If we through North Carolina (160,000), Florida (110,000) and Arizona (90,000).

Basically, I feel that a lot of people right now would just not vote for Trump if the election were held today, even if they don't vote for Hilary. Of course, I really don't think she should run at all, ever again for a myriad of reasons.

Here in lies the conundrum for Trump's Presidency: Everything is obstensibly good right now. The economy is good, unemployment is low, on his own platform illegal immigration is down to its lowest level in decades. Violent crime is at historic lows across the board.

By all measures, the country is in great shape. Which is a huge problem for Trump, because his approval is absolute shit even when the country is doing great. Anything he does that is beneficial will have only a nominal impact. And boy does that not translate to success well to the average American worker. He burned up a huge amount of political capital he had on healthcare reform, and now people are going to be suspicious as all hell about anything the Republicans try to push through as they just don't have the momentum.

It's also a hell of a lot easier to lose approval than to gain it. The only time where a significant jump in popularity occurred was on 9/11, when Bush's approval rating skyrocketed to 90% and then declined from there for the rest of his career. Obama trended down almost during the entirety of his Presidency, however gained some in his last year as the shit-show that was brewing up during the election had people nervous coupled with a generally strengthening economy. Still, that was a long sustained growth in approval that happened over years, and even at that his lowest point was about 45% approval.

I just don't see how Trump plans to gain back his early support from this point. Quoting the stock market isn't likely to do anything, because those gains are not being actualized in people's bankroll. Getting tough on immigration isn't really doing much anymore, as illegal immigration is already low. Healthcare reform could work, but he needs to have an actual plan rather than some half-cocked idea that they can repeal Obamacare, and let people actually suffer the consequences in order to get the Senate to pass literally anything. I personally don't think he has the patience for that. Perhaps another terrorist attack could get him some favor, but even then I think he'd fuck it up somehow (And a lot of the extremist groups, particularly ISIS, are reeling right now after concerted efforts in the Middle East to stamp them out by the various countries there). Even true gains in the economy are unlikely to have a major impact on his approval, as it just isn't going to be noticeable on a macro-scale and would likely just be minor gains (As there's not much more he can do to spur growth beyond what is going on right now).

Meanwhile, the possibility of things getting worse is all too real: An economic recession caused by the loosening of financial regulations (such as in 2008) could very easily occur. Even a somewhat minor economic downturn would be near disasterous for him political, as he has billed himself as the man to "fix" our economy. A rise in illegal immigration during his Presidency would look incredibly bad, as his policies would look like bunk. Increased violence would also spell disaster, as it means that he is the one who fucked up. A war with North Korea would not end well for anyone, except under the pretenses that North Korea nuked us first (Which is something I doubt they will do), and a pre-emptive strike would destroy his credibility. The only reason Bush got away with it himself was due to being able to ride post 9/11 rhetoric and fears. We simply don't have that with North Korea.

It's pretty damn grim for Trump politically. He spent so long telling people that everything is terrible that he seems to have actually bought his own bullshit. And when you buy your own bullshit, you have no one but yourself to blame when you get burned.

I mean, W was putting on a slightly clueless air in order to appear folksy. While I disagree with his decisions and think many of them were bad, they weren't moronic and baffling in the way many of Trump's are. I admittedly got lucky with Katrina food-wise and don't remember eating MREs after Katrina (then again I was 9, and I honestly don't remember too much from that point in my life, for some reason). We had MREs for the flood last year though. I never got to taste any myself, but my sister and my mom did. Kinda wish I had tried them.

Katrina was only a C5 for a short time, when it hit Louisiana is was a C3. You can blame New Orleans' and Louisiana's projects around the Mississippi delta failing under Katrina for most of the damage around there.

Also, thanks to Global Climate Change (Which Trump claims to be a Chinese hoax), expect much more powerful storms and longer droughts in the future. (Maybe even a runaway greenhouse effect, I mean, it's already kinda happening...)
