I'm pretty sure punishing people for being gay is homophobia no matter what, unless you somehow manage to do it by total accident. Not sure if that's possible, but in case it is...

I assume their logic is homosexuals are not believers because of their practices. That, or they just don't care.

Well, I brought this up because you mentioned earlier that apparently only Allah can determine what is and isn't homophobia, which is an... unusual perspective.

It's an Arabic phrase used when someone passes away. "Indeed, we are to Allah, and indeed to God is our return" <-- not entirely literal translation
As for the other part, yeah, it is kinda weird. What I was trying to say is that it's not our place to say what is bad and what isn't when pertaining to what Allah (SWT) says.
