I joke, but nowadays when I go hiking, I feel like I could miss so much shit happening while in the middle of nowhere. Before I just didn't care, whatever, I catch, but so much shit goes on while I'm gone sometimes.

I'd go back hiking if I were you, I mean in real terms not much has happened at all.

President Donald Trump prizes two qualities above all else: loyalty and discretion—don’t cross the boss, and don’t leak. Whether he’ll find either in his new communications director is an open question.

On Sunday, New York investor and media personality Anthony Scaramucci declared that he will root out White House leakers in his new post. “We’re going to stop the leaks. And if we don’t stop the leaks, I’m going to stop you. It’s just really that simple,” he said on an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union.

But aides to 2016 presidential candidates whom Scaramucci endorsed before coming around to Trump say he was suspected of leaking internal information, and left out of some internal discussions for fear that he would pass along those sorts of details to reporters—or that he already had.

Scaramucci did not respond to questions about this story.

He's going to stop the press reporting things leaked to them?

How? He knows he doesn't have any power, right?

The problem is that the ACA already is the middle ground, with dozens of concessions that were given to Republicans back when it was drafted to the point where it barely resembles anything that the Democrats proposed. Many of the concessions were drafted specifically to mimic previous Republican proposals, many of whom had themselves proposed the exact sort of provisions in the ACA in their Senate career.

Which only makes it funnier/sadder that they hate Obamacare so very, very much. All this outrage and fury, years of denouncing Obamacare as the worst thing to ever happen to America, and really, their problem with it is that it has the wrong president's name on it.

Trump visited an aircraft carrier this weekend, so insulting him is a direct insult to the troops. They died for our freedom, so the First Amendment really shouldn't apply to them.

Articles like this make me think about the possibility that the United States and the DPRK have a few things in common. Infrastructure is rotting, the people are starving and whole parts of the countryside have turned into wastelands, with the only functional nowadays institution (since DC is effectively paralyzed) left being the Military under the guide of Mattis.

It'd be amazing if it weren't so horribly tragic.

And somehow, those hit hardest would blame the Democrats because Trump Can Do No Wrong.

Sorry to say, but I see no middle ground here.

I suppose if you think from a purely-political standpoint, you might be right. I'm just of the mindset that any middle ground can be found, if people are willing to work together instead of turning each other into demons.

The ACA is already a compromise between both sides.

The Democrats modified ACA a lot to appease 2012 Republicans.

Trump and Fox news did a lot over the years between 2012 and 2016 to push the federal Republicans even more to the extreme right.

I'm hoping that the middle ground can be rebuilt when Trump gets the boot.

Considering the dems don't have a strong leader, and all they seem to stand for right now is to oppose Trump rather than anything worth while, would hardly call that being cynical, but more realistic to the situation on what is going on in the democratic party.

I prefer Rasmussen for poll numbers. Not because I necessarily like them more, but because they are the ones that thr POTUS has personally used in the past, and theh pur him at 44%, which is abysmal.

He has 85% popularity among Republicans. They're passed convincing. Nixon still had greater than 50% support among Reps after Watergate.

I'll state this for the third time, but it's practically impossible to get an agenda across and declare your fighting for anything when you're a minority in government. All branches of government. They aren't fighting for anything other than standing in opposition in Trump because that's literally all they can do

I know, it's a difficult concept to grasp considering the Democrats have been some position of power for the past decade or so, but they are literally powerless in doing anything other than opposing Trump. Remember, Republicans weren't in a much better situation circa 2008 and, iirc, most of their time was spent screeching about opposing Obama.

On the other side, the Republican party is now in open civil war with each other, and are hilariously incapable of doing anything of note. They are currently being run by a clown who has the lowest approval rating according to all polling agencies of any sitting president during their first 6 months.
