A Story of Conspiracy

It started innocently enough. A thread on 4chan's /b/ board posed a number of religiously posed questions regarding several medical conditions that the board seemed to have a penchant for. This ultimately culminated into contacting several local priests and sisterhoods to get an answer. Though said answers were summarily deemed 'shit'. Though a single Anon found out the best way to find an answer, E-Mail the Pope. After waiting nearly a week for a response, they got around three sentences explaining that such questions could not be answered.

Finding such a response to be 'fucking retarded', the thread made a plan. In classic 4chan fashion of getting shit done when it's least expected, they decided to break into the Vatican Archives to learn the truth. Unbeknownst to the secrets, artifacts, and souls contained within, the mischievous miscreants execute their plan on July 7th, 2017, hoping for some ironically divine help. Instead, they'll stumble upon a conspiracy that has lasted over 2000 years.

And then they'll be in for an adventure.

Welcome to "Adventures in Shitposting" a story revolving around an intrepid group of shut ins who manage to not only break in to the Vatican's Ancient Archives, but get wrapped up in secrets kept for millennia. Over the course of the RP, the characters are tasked with spreading the news of what they've found across the world in hopes of finally clearing up some clerical errors and outright miscommunications. Their adventure will take them across the world, from Jerusalem to Gary, Indiana, all the while with the opportunity of mystical powers and loot tempt them at every turn, and with the hostility of the various factions trying to stop them following their every step.

Understandably this RP will revolve around the happenings of the Bible, Torah, Koran, and several other holy texts, as well as a number of historical events and unexplained happenings throughout human history, and is not to be taken seriously at all. Seriously, this is a comedy RP, don't lose your minds over things.

1. OP and CO-OP's words are law.
2. I (the OP) reserve the right to kill off your character for stupid actions. I (The OP) also reserve the rights to: deny an app for any reason, retroactively deny an application, or request someone to permanently vacate the thread.
3. Don't be a dick OOCly.
4. Arguments over religious and political happenings and their validity will not be tolerated at all, everyone has a right to believe what they want, and saying someone's wrong for believing something you don't will get you removed from the thread with zero leniency.
4. Poor grammar, spelling, and formatting are valid reasons for denial. As are one liner posts.
5. Keep it clean, noting overly descriptive in terms of violence and no sexual content that wouldn't be kosher in a PG-13 movie.

Times Are’a Changing
Throughout history there are records of people holding near magical abilities. These people were all Superhumans or Supers as they would come to be called. These stories and records wre all relegated to being myths and made up. This belief publicly changed in the early 1900’s in 1917 when a Super called the Colonel came into prominence. He was a Tank Commander taking part in the Battle of Arras; more specifically he was part of the assault on Monche-Le-Preux. The tanks had assaulted the position in the middle of the night not knowing the assault time had been changed, they went in and for a while they were successful.

Then the defending force became aware that the tanks had no infantry support, they stormed the tanks causing much devastation. That however was not the worst of it, the Allies had ordered a bombardment on the area. It was as he saw enemy and ally alike dying around him that his powers fully manifested. Up until that moment he was not able to do much actively, only being able to roughly sense where metal was. After that however, he became capable of so much more. He lifted the charred carcasses of the tanks around him and formed them into a massive dome that could be seen by any observing the battle.

Prior to this the existence of Supers had been kept a secret, mostly, being only known of in rumors. After this they emerged into public view, both in their home countries and in the battlefields of the Great War. For a time there was much restlessness with the sudden revelation of Supers, but they did much good in the Great War, and during the period of armistice that happened in between World War One and World War Two. Soon enough nearly every major country of the world had their own forces of Supers.

During the Second Great War, every Country involved sent Supers in to fight. Some sent more than others, or sent them in secret on certain covert missions. While they were involved, they did not become a major part of the fighting until a covert mission discovered just why Germany and her allies had so many Supers. They had been performing experiments on people, to create Supers. Up until then having superpowers was considered a privilege of birth by many and luck. Nazi Germany was able to discover what it was that gave Supers their mysterious abilities.

In the lore for the above rp, they were amde aware to the governments prior to WW1, it was jsut a MEta's actions during the Battle of arras, that made the public mostly aware.

It is a common theme to tie your lore into historical events, and periods of wartime are generally the easiest.

It is the Fall of 2016. A coastal breeze sweeps across your face, chilling your bones in and causing your body to shake in the cold. You gaze out into the ocean; the ocean only gazes back.

Four bodies found across the state of Massachusetts. Four people dead; whether by a terrible accident, a crime of passion, or a twisted pre-mediated murder, they’re all gone one way or another. You remember the voices of those who found the bodies, crying as they tried to describe the visceral scenes of blood, gore, and terror. You’re one of the police officers being sent out to investigate these bodies, with your two partners. The departments decided to run in teams of three for this assignment, an unusual case if any but that’s no trouble to you.

It’s just the three of you now; the crime scene photographers are gone (or never were there) and this is your first time looking at them. Your hands shake, as you approach the scene of the crime, fear engulfing you in its grasp. You feel scared. Anxious. Tortured. Primal.

Most of all, you feel very, very small.

The Benthic Zone is a mystery-horror RP based on True Detective, the works of H.P. Lovecraft, and various sea related history and legends. While some supernatural elements are implied, the RP will attempt to be as grounded as possible when possible. You'll travel to many different locales on the coast (and inner regions) of Massachusetts, investigating four mysterious deaths across the state. The story will be open-ended. Players are allowed to attempt to unravel the mysteries behind the four bodies in any way they want, provided it’s realistic, doesn’t break site rules, and doesn’t contradict anything previously said. You will be required to use your wits, your intuition, and your overall knowledge to be able to track the killer(s). It will not be an easy ride to that destination, and characters do have the potential to be maimed, killed, fired, or even arrested. In the events of something like this happening, you will be allowed a new app to replace your old character if you wish, or continue playing as your character provided they are still alive. Objectives of the characters will be updated as they move along, as will character profiles and other related items.

1. Don’t be a dick, in OOC at least. Seriously, don't. Constant fighting is not good, and will result in your kicking from the RP. 2. Don’t godmod, don’t metagame, you get the idea. All the in general RP rules. 3. If you are going to be away for some time, please tell me, either in OOC or by TG. If you just go and disappear with no words spoken, I’ll assume you aren't coming back and let your character go. 4. Your character should act like a human being.
