Americans also recognize Chiwetel Ejiofor and others they may not even know are British like Delroy Lindo or David Harewood. Point is, just because he's the only black British actor people know so they can totes claim to be woke doesn't mean he needs to be shoe horned into every role where it'd be a first for a black actor, especially if said role is a British one. It doesn't even work in the case of the Doctor since most are not household names in America. Richard Ayoade would make a far better Doctor than Idris Elba as would the aforementioned Chiwetel Ejiofor.
