[NS Rugby Board Executive Council]

Welcome to the NSRB Match Officials Thread. This thread will serve as the pool for future rugby matches that are sanctioned (and some that aren’t) in all codes. Matches they may officiate could be anything from a friendly up to and including World Cups and other major NSRB tournaments. Generally for all codes, a tournament host will need to select one TMO (Television Match Official), one referee and two touch judges for each match. Match officials will only be NSRB sanctioned if they are listed here in the OP thread. If there are any questions, please ask them in the NS Rugby Discussion thread. Thank you for not spamming the NSRB Match Officials thread. Note: While Sevens and Nines are offshoots of Union and League codes respectively, we are considering them as their own codes for purposes of this thread and in other NSRB matters.

Extra information: Stefan eats, sleeps and breathes rugby. He is a die hard fan of the AVRU, regardless of the team. During a charity event match a few years ago between the Burgunden Brawlers and Schwartzgarten Warriors, the young autistic man was given a flag and a chance to be closer than ever to watching rugby. He proved himself so thoroughly that he was given a permanent job with the AVRU. He is unable to be a full referee due to the severity and level on the spectrum of his autism, but did an excellent job at touch judge during the 24th and 25th WCs, 2nd AVBF 7s, as well as several other NSRB tournaments.

[Darmen]

It should be noted that all Darmeni officials are extremely strict. Any fights or scuffles will draw an immediate reaction from the ref, and plenty of yellow cards. Arguing with the Ref, even by the captain, will not be tolerated and will immediately draw a yellow card as well. The refs are also not scared to show a red card for any offense, especially to players who may try to argue with them. The Referees will make it very clear to the players that they are there to play Rugby, and not to conduct a boxing match or debate. Also, the refs like to yell a lot, after all, they're in charge.

Extra Information: Brian Kershaw can easily be summarised as "strict but fair". The strictness comes from the fact that he seems a bit too happy to stop play whenever something seems a bit off. Whether it be a tackle performed too hard, a scrum done incorrectly or a player coughs too loudly, he will stop play until the matter is resolved. The fairness, however, comes from his reluctance to give out cards to players; even if he does consult the assistant referee just for confirmation, there's still a [very] small chance that Kershaw won't hand out a card. Apart from that, he's an all-round good referee, with a good eye for details and he is also available for rugby league games.

We are still and always taking submissions and are sorely in need of more League proficient refs. The personnel are listed alphabetically first by nation, then by surname. You're possibly wondering why I added touch judge to some entries that were only submitted as referees. Simply put, if you can referee, you can touch judge; in the same way that if you can ride a bicycle, you can also ride a tricycle. Sometimes will allow very minor infringements to slide if they aren't affecting the other team too much, will allow quick tap penalties that are taken roughly around the mark and is not a fan or resetting scrums often, and so is quick to start awarding short and penalties. However, he will harshly penalise foul play or disrespecting himself or other officials.
