well, no, we never did it in the first place.Sha Mobutia wrote:These sorts of missions come with risks. Special operations teams are seldom ever sent into low-risk environs.
Isn't the point of us having and writing characters in these teams is that we control what they do? Even when they die?

And to a certain extent for the sake of realism you have to accept there are things your character would have against them.
I don't care how much I love my characters: the twelve members of my team against 200+ enemy soldiers in an open and conventional fight would turn into a quick and violent bloodbath as they were ganked by a human swarm.

So we planned to send Twenty somethin Spec Ops against half an army? Well I'm glad someone caught that little errorSha Mobutia wrote:And to a certain extent for the sake of realism you have to accept there are things your character would have against them.

Yeah, but no one wants an OP where we'd just watch all out guys get slaughtered. I mean if the info on Opfor says there's 200+ highly trained soldiers in an open field, and there's twenty of us, no one is going to volunteer for that shit.

- I liked the original Ralk idea, mainly because it was going to be a rescue mission, but then once more details were revealed, it became an untenable story for us to do. Basically, the island that's in the currently-proposed Ralk/Sha thread was going to be fully-staffed and full of Ralk's special operations soldiers. We had to sneak in, cause a surprise, and then try and get out while the entire navy surrounding the island descended upon us. It was an obvious suicide mission at that point, and IIRC, people weren't too bothered to have their characters get killed, but there was a heavy resistance to the idea that their soldiers could be enslaved. This current thread seems to be the same idea, except nobody's there, now.
- Sarejo, loved the movie.
- I should get on the second post, now, but some personnel profiles first, lol.

I don't know what the previous mission was, he just proposed this to me with the idea that it would let the players encounter some "Oh my god they were using these on people." sorts of scenes, coupled with some combat with an idea planned for a suitable dramatic and cinematic exfiltration at the end. Again this is what it was sold to me as and the reason that I submitted it. The greatest risk posed to the teams sent in would be some Death Guard assets and the fact that they are in a CBRN-compromised environment which means that a suit puncture could lead to death or suffering for the operator in question if they are unlucky and the breakout of contaminants is bad enough (likely won't be a wholly contaminated environment because believe it or not even Ralk understands nobody enjoys party wipes).
