It's a dystopia where an alternate US (the Republican Union) that just compromises the North and the Midwest (the Southern states are independent nations) is run by an Anglo-Saxon Protestant supremacist dictatorship that goes out of its way to pummel all Irish, Catholics, Latins, and Slavs. Europe is dominated by a despotic French Empire run by Napoleon's descendants. Russia is an autocratic republic that is extremely anti-Muslim. Prussia is a Protestant dictatorship opposed to Catholic France, and the British Isles are collection of dysfunctional failed states where Protestants and Catholics murder each other at a whim. Canada is still mostly French-speaking and Catholic, while Mexico has come to speak English after a century of American rule. Japan never opens up and remains a backwater. California has a hybrid French and Spanish culture, and Russian Alaska extends all the way down to what is today Oregon. Native Americans live on a giant reservation the size of Utah.

South Africa remains Dutch, and the Dutch also get Australia.

As bad as the Catholics have it, the average American actually lives pretty well and American culture has deviated a lot less from English culture. Most people talk with New England accents and alternate Chicago is the biggest city in the country. Baseball is popular around the world (it occupies the role soccer does in our world) and electronic music emerged in the 1950s.

I think anything involved a Third Reich qualifies as a dystopia so if this was a competition I think you would've won.

A Fascist/National Socialist state would do for me, I suppose. I largely agree with most of their ideas and know enough to stay out of the authorities' way on the ones that I don't.

Hmm...

How about something like "Any society where religion doesn't create divisiveness is worth possessing." I'm not sure how to word it.

Or at least "Any society that you can avoid from time to time by going on NationStates is worth possessing."
