I mean, I suppose if you dislike Republicans, that's one thing, but it's not like he's ever done anything out-of-the-ordinary for a Republican. He's not Trump, running around saying nasty stuff about women and Mexicans. He's not Cruz. He's...like...your typical Republican politician. I truly hope you're not saying that he deserved to be shot simply for being a Republican politician, because that raises some rather disturbing questions.
I'm not saying he deserved to be shot, but an argument can certainly be made that he was at least complicit in acts of oppression as a lawmaker.
And yes, I realize he's a mainstream Republican. He is, as far as I can tell, an example of everything wrong with the Republican party today.Luminesa wrote:...Where did he compare himself with David Duke? I've never seen that.
(Lord, just the mention of David Duke makes my spine crawl.)
Google search reveals the quote "I'm David Duke without the baggage". You'll notice the mix of left wing and right wing outlets covering it.Neo Balka wrote:

I'm shocked you didn't say "(((gren)))".
As a Republican, I have the obvious disagreement with you on what policies are oppressive, but I would say there are far worse examples than Steve Scalise. *Points once more to Ted Cruz.*
I looked at the quote, posted from Esquire. Again, I would hope he simply means he agrees with him on some mainline policies, and not necessarily on Duke's Nazism and Holocaust-denial.
