If the perpetrators of Islamist terror attacks in the UK are universally British-born citizens, they are therefore domestic terrorists. Since most attackers have been in their 20s or older, it would probably take 25-30 years for a migrating family to move to the UK, have a child, and that child to grow up and become radicalised, and commit an act of terror.

Yes, countries need to think in the long term. We don't need people coming from countries with cultures vastly different from our own in order to have children who are torn between two cultures. Cultural compatibility makes assimilation much easier, and makes the children of immigrants less prone to radicalization.

My point on the second topic is that Islamist terrorism isn't some universal evil that's always been there. It's an incredibly recent phenomenon.
It is entirely possible that within the thirty years it would take for such a ban to be reasonably considered effective, the global political situation could change in such a manner that Islamist terrorism basically ends.
