Collaboration leads to more desirable results than every nation working in their own interest. Look at the EU, for example, the biggest market on earth in terms of consumers, reaching that point through collaborative effort instead of Germany and the UK taking everything for themselves.

The EU? I too long for the day when my country is so weak and gutless that we have to pay bribe money to the Sultan to keep him from flooding us with refugees. Boy that worked out well didn't it?

That's one narrative. The other is that we paid Turkey to construct refugee centres in order to allow for local settlement of refugees. Every act can be spun either way, but the fact is that the payments to Turkey solved the humanitarian crisis going on in the Balkans. That is effective government strategy. Or should we have done nothing, because we don't like Erdogan?

On the ability to spin something either way: the US spends an enormous amount of money on her military. What is the US afraid of? Isn't that a sign of weakness?
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

Pfffff, yeah, let's use the building that's the seat of a fundamentally flawed but originally well-intentioned international body to do that. Because corrupt corporations can have all the land, and corrupt politicians can allocate resources for the most grotesquely stupid things, but the UN wanting the United States to cooperate in the defense of children, the disabled and the environment hurts my nationalistic feefees way too much with their treaties.

I swear, American nationalism has the moral compass of a lobotomized wild boar.

Yes! I swear, people use American nationalism and patriotism in such an utterly shitty way that shits on actual American values. It's so fucking jarring how people cry about not wanting to help out people when we call ourselves "the land of the free and the home of the brave", yet they don't want to be brave enough to face the challenge of helping people, and in some cases, don't even want to make some people in "the land of the free" free! It's fucking loony!

Daily reminder that hate speech, contrary to some held beliefs in America, is not free speech, especially not when it's speech that supports ideologies that want to completely eradicate free speech.

Unfortunately they count hate speech laws as promoting free speech. Quite backwards tbh.

School of the Americas was fine. Freedom at home and Jackboot abroad seems a good way of doing things. It saved us from losing South America during the Cold War.

Of course, I got to the point where I couldn't tolerate that idea either, as Trump was too insane, but alas...here we are.

I don't know enough about Hong Kong to answer.

They do make some good movies though, I know that.

Hong Kong is basically it's own country controlled by China. Because of this, however, they're capable of using their own economic, political, and social systems completely separate from China (Which China has been cracking down on recently, the pop. of Hong Kong is not happy about this, btw), because of this, both the economic and social laws are freer than the US, they rank higher than the US, and are able to hold rank with the top 10/15 freest nations (The US is currently #19).

If those freedom indexes are so shit because the highest rankers don't allow hate speech or almost free capitalism, then explain how a place like Hong Kong can have similar rankings to places like Canada, Germany, Norway, etc...

You should have had a functioning border system but that's distasteful to Europeans so they prefer to pay bribes to the Sultan.

I think Thatcher, for all her faults, summed up Europe best "They're a weak lot in Europe". I'm good on following that example of weakness. I still think Hobbes is relevant.

You have paper soliders. Your tank readiness rates are awful, there are no stock pile of spare parts, you have no artillery, your planes can't fly. It's not a military, it's a shattered husk that you guys want to reduce even more. Nice spin with active troops part, that was smooth.

Wars are won by material. You lot didn't even mothball, you sold and scrapped. Enjoy your peace dividend :^)
