This isn't about some philosophy of eschewing global agreements. This is about Republicans satisfying campaign contributors at the expense of the American taxpayer as a whole.

It's far better to be cynical on the global stage than naive fools. Why bother the UN convention on the seas when we can just have more ourselves? It's a better situation for us.

Nash would like a word with you.
Collaboration leads to more desirable results than every nation working in their own interest. Look at the EU, for example, the biggest market on earth in terms of consumers, reaching that point through collaborative effort instead of Germany and the UK taking everything for themselves.

Then why did you jump into an argument on that matter with something unrelated? : /

Pfffff, yeah, let's use the building that's the seat of a fundamentally flawed but originally well-intentioned international body to do that. Because corrupt corporations can have all the land, and corrupt politicians can allocate resources for the most grotesquely stupid things, but the UN wanting the United States to cooperate in the defense of children, the disabled and the environment hurts my nationalistic feefees way too much with their treaties.
I swear, American nationalism has the moral compass of a lobotomized wild boar.

Because pissing off everyone is bad, look at Germany for like, the entire first half of the 20th century. They tried going, heh heh, we'll just have a few, powerful allies, screw everyone else, we got a huge industrial base and technology leadership. Then they lost two world wars.

They didn't have a huge industrial base tbh. Using Germany as an example is rather poor and reaching. Not only that but they nearly brought the world to its knees on their own. We're much stronger than they ever were and the rest of the world much weaker. Maybe that is the path we should take.

Because you and perhaps others are missing the entire point. Republicans, and even Trump for a change, are fulfilling their campaign promises by doing this. Not the promises made publicly, for the gullible voters who buy their rhetoric on trickle-down economics, family values, and "making America great again," oh no. These are the promises made to the oil lobby in exchange for donations.
The fundamental problem here again comes back to campaign finance. We have to derail the gravy train or we'll never get anywhere.

Pfffff, y'all aren't even close to the top of any freedom index. Your exceptionalistic nonsense is just propaganda. :3
(Not to mention the fact that American foreign policy is directly responsible for the lack of freedom in other parts of the world. "School of the Americas" rings any bells?)

I agree on the campaign finance front

Literally what Hitler said
edit, not calling you a nazi, saying he said basically that, then proceeded to lose ww2

They can jump up their own asses and die if they go to china and think they'll be better partners. the PRC are not so differant from us, they are just better at hiding it. And have a shitty military with little force projection.
