Beginning in 1936, the United States of Mexico faced its first crisis. Zapata, leader of the Syndicalist party, has died.
Seizing the opportunity, a coalition of reactionary generals seized the capitol. They quickly begin dismantling Zapata's regime, despite extreme political dissent and a still sizable Syndicalist political base. At the same time, the issue of the 1936 elections came up, but the hopes of the people were promptly dashed as elections were permanently suspended under the new regime, headed by Pablo Gonzales Garza.
Beyond Mexico, the world remains on edge. The Totalists have been elected in the Commune of France, as well as the Union of Britain, further proving the failure of the Syndicalist states.
Similarly, the arrest of Ramon Mercader became a welcome excuse for the new Junta to continue dismantling the Totalistas.
Elsewhere, the German Corporate entity AOG has found itself facing the "China First" faction, consisting of the Shangqing rebels and the Republic of China. Thus far, the Germans have seen fit not to intervene.
By the end of 1936, the United States had elected President Garner, with Huey Long's America First Party and Jack Reed's CSA contesting the election results. Garner's refusal to negotiate with either side continues to foster instability in the failing Republic. Some Mexican revanchists seem eager for the fall of the United States, seeing the opportunity to seize back the lands lost in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
In late 1936, the Italian Federation chose to launch their war of reclamation against the South. This act of aggression has brought the French Commune to arms against them, and the sheer numerical advantage to the French puts the Italian Theocracy in dire straits. It remains to be seen if the German Empire will intervene in the conflict.
