Exactly one of the parties in this election has a record of systematically dismantling the NHS and driving it from running a surplus into massive debt.

It's probably a tough choice for her.

Do I show up at the debates and get hammered, causing me damage, or do I not show, causing me damage?

Yeah, the game theory does make sense. But as good lefties and centrists it should be our job to punish her for the latter choice! :D

On the side of that, is it me or does she look more and more like she's on the edge of a breakdown? I spent a week in April on a psych ward and the people there looked less falling apart than her. I kinda feel bad for her, until I remember the shit she's put the proles in this country through.

I imagine she's under enormous pressure. I'd probably look like shit were I her too. Not saying she doesn't deserve some stress considering how she pulled this election out of no where after promising not to but it's pretty understandable.

Corbyn has been through the exact same thing, and yes he looks a little tired as well. You know he faced the Paxman first. I think Jeremy Paxman spent most of his energy on Jeremy Corbyn. (not through favouratism, just he had not accounted for his own stamina)

Jeremy Corbyn is older than Theresa, but somehow it is Theresa May that deserves our sympathy?

Jeremy corbyn is doing better than when the election started, he's on an upwards trajectory Theresa may is doing worse than anyone thought possible. There's a huge difference. I wouldn't say that she deserves our sympathy but that doesn't mean we should start being shallow.

To be fair their previous poll was generous to labour as well, there is obviously momentum on the labour side but to put it simply we did it by May sucking absolute ass. She was never elected by even her party to the position of leader and now we see why she engineered it this way, she sucks at talking to people. She also used a presumed unassailable lead to make the manifesto incredibly right wing in nature which Corbyn and labour in general have taken advantage of expertly.

They didn't. The Tories would have just been better off contesting the election without a manifesto.

Hard to say right now though. The Brexit proceedings will likely leave the country weak or otherwise correcting itself around 2020, they kinda had to do this for a better shot at continued leadership in 2022. Also, they're technically still winning, so there's still a chance that this is a dark storm for them to weather.

So I don't know UK politics that well, but I'm hearing Corbyn is making insane gains. I remember hearing May was inevitable.

Gainz for dayz. Still unlikely they are going to translate into a win. But there is hope for a reduced tory majority, possibly a minority government, which would be the Tories having the most mps in the HoC but not a majority so they could get defeated when passing legislation.

I dunno how good Corbyn is, but it seems May isn't really hugely popular so far. Maybe MORE popular, but not hugely popular.

Oh boy is he good. Think if Bernie Sanders had won the nomination for the democrats, maybe a bit further to the left but that's largely because america as a whole is further to the right so Bernie couldn't be that far to the left.

On a unrelated note I'm sure the thread will appreciate this song which is topping the UK charts at the moment.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxN1STgQXW8

Honestly considering where labour was and what everyone expected, a reduced majority for the Conservatives will be treated like a Labour win. Especially because May would probably have to resign

Theresa May shot herself in the foot. She then got worried and proceeded to shoot herself in the other foot. She repeated this multiple times.

what about labour-whigs coalition, in footprint of conservatives-whig coalition of previous years, in case labours to win as people say this time.
if cons-whigs managed to deal the deficil and all, cutting the spending and with vat, lab-whigs could manage to strenghten it whith some capital and estate tax, and so perhaps giving some to your public health also.
so people don t get heavy socialist or reactionnary either and live well, the English way.

Polling in the UK has been notoriously difficult over the past few years, I put it down to the UK being in a bit of a boatymcboatface mood, that is their general contrariness is at a high right now. Give us the option of naming a highly advanced research vessel, fuck you we'll call it boatymcboatface.. run a referendum to save your ass.. fuck it we'll vote out.. call an election because you think you're so far ahead in the polls it's an easy call.. haha watch us vote you out..

Having said that I don't think Labour can win, and when it comes down to pen on paper people will go with the 'safer' choice. I would kind of laugh if she came out with no more and no less seats than a month ago.

EDIT: although.. getting old people to pay for their care by taking their house when they die, I mean put it in your manifesto if you want but don't make it the centrepiece of your manifesto no matter how far ahead you think you are.

Brexit polling was pretty accurate, though. It had it neck and neck in the last few days.
