Corrian, if you'd like more info on the McCall Military Preparatory School then I'd look to Kylantha's app, since I gave him a bunch of info on the whole thing.

Kylantha, nice work on the app. Accepted.
I don't know what I'm s'posed to do.

Yeah, you can go ahead and post if you'd like. Your character would be in the field with the others, right about now.
I don't know what I'm s'posed to do.

Recon wrote:1. Ellie and Riley from the series both were orphans so they attended a military style boarding school. McCall’s would likely be at the location of the high school, which would be a mix of boarders and normal school kids during the day, which makes the sense considering the military are running these areas. For my character Will, I have just had NPC people in charge of the school, but if someone wanted to create a character or link their past to that place, it would be interesting. I have dropped some hints that Will struggled at the school, that the curriculum was not conventional and there was likely some physical abuse going on, perhaps only amongst the boarders. Due to the fact, this is a traumatised world, there are very few trained teachers or people trained to govern and inspect these institutions and these children are all orphans…

Alright, with Kentucky Fried Land's suggestion and yours, I will make something work.

2. I think honestly, even in this crazy world, I doubt a child would have a knife. I mean life in the QZ is a lot different from life out there. I think it would be better to pick up a knife or something else during the roleplay. Just my opinion.

Just an FYI, she would have them because she likes them. But if they don't work yet in the context, she will get them because she's fascinated with "sharp things" later. She wouldn't even get them specifically for her own protection, just because she wanted them (Though once out in the world, protection would be a motivator then)

I have been making it up as I go along. So I am sure it will be fine :)

It is your character. So I think it should work from where-ever you want it to. If she finds a good hiding place or a way to get these things, then why not. Just as long as she doesn't stab my character ;)

Hope this works. If not, I can make edits and whatnot.

Name: Karla Garcia
Age: 11
Sex: Female
Faction: Citizen
Appearance:
ImageImageImage

Equipment/Personal Belongings: 1.Kids Backpack
2. 2 Buck 110's, which she presumably "borrowed" from somewhere (aka likely stole), and hid so nobody would catch her with them.
3.Probably ends up with some of the essentials and all that for survival once they're forced out of safety.
4.Oddly enough for her, a children's coloring book, and crayons, if any of those would be usable at this point.
5.Whatever school essentials that she would have needed as well, since they never left her bag.

Honestly nothing else noteworthy I can think of.
Personality: Karla had always been sort of a wild child. She's rather fiesty, and its lead to a bit of an aggression and anger problem at times, but has mostly been managed. Seems to have a thing for occasionally breaking the rules and getting an enjoyment out of it. Tends to react badly to anyone trying to mess around with her, seriously or playfully. Has a hate for being tickled, and won't seem remotely happy that you're doing so. Seems very focused on the things that she cares about, like her strange fascination and interest in combat since a young age, but blanks out a lot of the stuff that doesn't appeal to her at all. Can't even pretend to care about it. Despite all of these things, though, overall she seems to be well meaning as a whole. Going as far as to say that she's particularly a friendly child, or exactly a good child at that may be out there, but she does tend to seem to have peoples well being at heart at times, depending on what it is. Because she tends to feel bad if she lets people down. Just may not show a ton of kindness back in return for a favor you did for her, not really even trying to because she doesn't think of it that much. I think that sums up most of it.
Bio: Karla is a Mexican-American girl residing in Idaho at the McCall Quarantine Zone, and had been rescued in some raid a long time ago when she was probably about 3, and brought to the safe zone to be taken care of. Her parents hadn't survived the raid, but for whatever reason, she hadn't been killed, or her parents sacrificed themselves to have saved her. Nobody really knows, but nonetheless, she had become an orphan that day. And from that point on, she had been raised in the Quarantine Zone, whatever morals and rules of the place being instilled in her when it came more of time for such a thing to matter.

While growing up here in the safe zone, she only vaguely remembered who her parents even were, so after a certain point she could cope with their loss a lot easier since she couldn't even remember their faces anyway, or what they were like, besides a few memories here and there. Growing up here, she obviously grew up with some of their ideals, but a lot of her behaviors seems to naturally develop from her, not specifically because of the nature of where it was that she was being raised.

Has a bit of a history at school and out of being at times a bit of a handful, for various reasons. She's managed to get herself into trouble countless times, be it from climbing things at random that she's not supposed to be on, or causing trouble with some of the other students (Though usually fueled by someone else starting it). Some of the kids tried to pick on her, but it usually backfired as she wasn't one to tend to put up with peoples crap. Also has got in trouble for stealing stuff in the past. She certainly ended up as an interesting child to deal with. Doesn't really have many friends in the safe zone, though she does have some, at school and in some of the adults here.

Beyond that, there really isn't a whole lot to say about her existence here.
Strengths: 1.Seems rather physically in shape, having kept herself active well enough, making her rather agile. Mostly because it seemed like she didn't do well with sitting around doing nothing, so had to keep moving to not go stir crazy in here.
2.Is small, which also has its advantages if needed.
3.Unlike your typical child, she isn't one that's particularly a helpless surivor sort. For some people that simply think because she is a child that she is harmless and wouldn't be a threat may be in for a rude awakening. She's not one to just go and hide behind the professional adults and hide away with all the rest of the children, and she will legitimately fight you if she has the capability of doing so.
4.Rather good at climbing, though not an expert
Weaknesses:1.Her size also understandably has its downsides, and being generally small.
2.Her rather fiesty personality when it comes to not backing down in a fight can also have its downsides. Can get overly confident in herself because of it. It also got her in her fair share of trouble with the other kids and the adults, not putting up with their crap, especially if they bullied her.
3.Is known around the school of the place as a bit of a kleptomaniac, which hasn't particularly gone over well.
4.Seems to have aggression and anger issues at times.
*Living Family Members: None that she is aware of. Became an orphan very young.
*Quirks: Still seems to retain some sense of her Mexican accent, though its not overly heavy anymore as she mostly grew up surrounded by people without said Mexican accent now that her parents were dead.
*Likes: Oddly for a child...knives. Lots of types of knives in fact. Sharp things in general, bladed ones especially. Climbing things (Most likely things she shouldn't be), training, fighting, slashing things to pieces, speaking Spanish, snow, ect.
*Dislikes: Bandits, heavy artillery, guns (prefers, well, knives), bullies, overly bossy people, being stuck in this Quarantine Zone her whole life, typical ration food, being considered lesser because of being a child, being treated like a child (Despite the fact she is one), her opinions being ignored because of being a child, ect.
*Worst Fears: 1.Probably a bandit raid, really. While she doesn't really remember what happened, its still known to her enough that a fear of bandits invading lingers on her mind a lot.
2.Letting everyone down that may be relying on her for any specific task.
*Miscellaneous: Can speak both English and Spanish, as she grew up with her parents speaking in both languages to her. However, she learned more Spanish from them then actual English, and most English she naturally picked up while at the Quarantine Zone over the years. Likely some Spanish as well to complete her vocabulary.
RP Examples: You know me.

Thanks!

Also, I am at a lack of ideas for any new characters between the ages of 15 to 25, so I may bring back Vivian after all. Though I was having a conflict in my head about whether I should keep it at only 1 character and focus on one for once, or make two. Adding Vivian later wouldn't really work, so, and if/when Karla dies ICly, I would be stuck with no ideas of who to bring in again.

Don't ask me why both of my characters are apparently somewhat thieves.

Name: Vivian Iverson
Age: 16
Faction: Civilian
Sex: Female
Appearance:
ImageImageImage

Equipment/Personal Belongings:1.Backpack, which she hoards some supplies in that she presumably hid somewhere in case some of it was confiscated (even though most of it she got on her own accord through, say, her "job"). It almost seemed like she held onto it in expectation that all good things must come to an end, and that she might need it to quickly grab a bunch of stuff, because that's why she held onto it.
2.Pocket knife she, uh...let's say, "took" at one point.
3.A tiny bit of medical stuff that she happened to get from someone who seemed rather fascinated by her music playing, and wanted to give her something special for her talent. She wasn't one to object.
4.Guitar, but very doubtful this manages to make it with her anywhere.
5.Some music sheets she either found, or was given, for lyrics or guitar playing themselves.
6.Clothes she owns are simply what's on her back, presumably what she wears in the appearance pictures. Though guessing probably going to get run down very quickly, if not already.
7.A bit of alcohol, oddly enough.
8.Some random strips of cloth.

Lots of other stuff she'd like to add to her collection, but was never able to get a hold of, due to being restricted to the QZ.

Personality: One of the more notable things people find about her tends to be the fact that she's a rather big smart ass, seeming to sarcastically reply to people on a regular basis if they happen to say something ridiculous that deserves scrutiny. Or just in general. She also tends to crack a lot of jokes, oftentimes in the worst situations, and a lot of the time, they can be rather dark jokes. Doesn't really matter what it is to her. Some of the times, though, her humor seems to be a cover up for an inner sadness, likely about her parents and having been alone for a while now, and maybe a bit of mostly hidden depression somewhere within her. She seems to have a strange personality in general, not just in the sarcastic joking sense. On top of everything, she tends to be rather blunt, too, and honest about the situation that they are in, oftentimes mixed in with her sarcastic, joking nature. If she thinks you're stupid, she might tell you to your face. While all of this may give the impression that she's just a jokester at heart, she's not by any means weak and careless, and in fact, she's rather tough, and seems to be able to mentally cope with doing whatever is necessary pretty quickly, and adapting to the reality of things easily. It wouldn't take her long to be able to realize that the best option in a scenario is to go brutal and to have to kill people, despite having no experience with such things, likely having been mentally prepared for such a thing from her parents. So despite her joking nature, she can be deadly serious if needed, and when she's in this element, she can almost be scary at times. Isn't above occasionally using her appearance to her advantage, if said person finds her attractive. Only to a certain extent, though. If it benefits her and gets her something, well, might as well use it to her advantage.
Bio: Vivian was in the unique scenario of being younger than how long the apocalypse has been going, so she had been born into the apocalyptic world. Her parents had actually met as soldiers, in the apocalypse itself. They had been protecting the Quarantine Zone, and met each other and fell for each other, and eventually, out comes Vivian. For a few years at that point, her mother stayed home to take care of her, but her father never stopped protecting their home. But after a while, her mother went back to it, too, when she was old enough to be taken care of better, or could be watched by others in a reasonable manner, like going to school or something, whatever form of school that they had there.

A few years later, though, both of her parents never came back from an outing, going on a supply run or some such. They had been killed, and now she had been orphaned. She was, understandably, rather upset for a while, but she oddly took it well. She seemed to grasp how reality worked, and accepted that it was probably inevitable that they would die. Everyone would be lucky to live through all of this, and not die at some point, after all. So them dying early wasn't that big of a surprise. But she knew she'd do the best that she could to live for as long as possible, and hopefully, keep their name alive.

Throughout the years since her parents died, she just stayed where her parents used to live, whatever that was, at least when she was old enough to manage on her own (Which she was capable of doing at probably 12). She had pretty much been alone since her parents died, really, beyond the small friendships. She tried to keep herself occupied in whatever way she could, though, but there was only so much you could do. However, she never really got bored, and seemed to manage okay.

She ended up taking on a liking for music, learning to play guitar, and to sing. This is what she ended up taking on as her job here, really, entertaining the people there with her surprisingly good singing voice and surprisingly good guitar playing skills. Sometimes, she got lucky with extra giving donors, and she was never one to deny a gift, because why not? If someone wanted to give you their life savings, who was she to turn it down if it could be beneficial to her? Yes, maybe that meant she was also selfish at times, but other times she could easily make it up by being selfless, and out in the real world, they would find her selfishness be replaced with her likely saving their ass in the future. She was pretty sure that others wanted to do more than simply give her gifts, usually the social rejects who were socially awkward and missing things in their life, so a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice and beautiful guitar playing captivated them in more ways than one.

Oddly, she never apparently got training from her parents, her parents maybe being a bit hopeful in that department that she would never have to worry about it by being in the safety of the walls, hoping for her to live as normal of a life as possible inside of a safe zone, but of course, that was too much expectations from them, and the place a few years after that would then get attacked, with her having little means to protect herself. May have got mandatory training, though.
Strengths: Knows a bit of hand to hand combat just from general knowledge over the years, but nothing major. However, she seems to know how to learn and adapt fast, so she could learn how to properly defend herself pretty quickly. She also seems to be strong minded, as in, she's very tough and seems to be able to be a fighter, once she gets used to such a thing and can adapt to it. Like it will take more to truly knock her down than with others, and she is tough and would fight hard to her death if she had to.
Weaknesses: Sometimes gets a bit overconfident, which in the real world, could be deadly to you. Her overly joking nature could easily make situations worse for her as well, pissing off the wrong person with a not overly well thought out zinger. Her lack of too much combat skill will likely be a hindrance early on, besides the mandatory stuff.
Living Family Members: None, at least none that she knows of. There might be some very distant cousins somewhere in the world.
Quirks: She seems to have a habit of cracking jokes in possibly the worst situations, as if humor is what she uses to help cope with things when things get rough. A bit of an oddball all around at times. Has a habit of trying everything at least once before complaining about something either way. Yes, that can include smoking, sex, and drugs, but that does not mean she goes out of the way for any of these. Just means she might not turn any of it down if offered. Isn't entirely above theft if need be, despite her personality maybe not giving off much of an indication that she might be a thief.
Likes: Music, singing, guitar, writing lyrics, finding old music, the idea of using a firearm (has used them a bit, but not much), being independent, kicking some ass, ect
Dislikes: Regular infected checks, finding it pointless since she's pretty much never left the walls in her life. A lot of people in general, not being able to ever go out and about in the outside world, having never seen the outside and it kinda bothering her (But not enough to be stupid and sneak out, because she knows it's smart not to), unnecessarily rude people, though she isn't above being rude herself sometimes, cowards, people who whine about everything, people who act overly tough about everything, ect.
Worst Fears: Getting raped. She doesn't fear death. In fact, she accepts it will be a thing that will happen eventually, if she likes it or not. But being raped? That's a terrifying fear to her, which is understandable, but it may be amplified in unnecessary situations to be scared of it. She generally has a fear of tough life decisions, as well, but that doesn't really count making the hard decisions as, say, for example, a leader, as she's pretty good with that. Or, what should be said, would be good at that, since she hasn't had to make them yet.
Miscellaneous: Despite maybe not giving off the impression of it, she does seem to actually want to someday have a relationship with someone, and not just be alone forever. But almost everything else is a bigger priority first, over settling down with someone.

Neato. Accepted.
I don't know what I'm s'posed to do.

Oh god, I suck at being reliable.

My problem isn't so much "procrastinate posting", its more "Procrastinating reading the entire thread to post and just making myself increasingly far behind in the process"

It is weird. I love reading up on the threads. But god damn is it easy for me to avoid it and get distracted.

I'm going to at least read some of the thread tonight as I start to doze off.

In summary, the people of McCall were called together at the high school for their monthly sitrep when they were suddenly attacked by bandits using makeshift mortars. One explosive hit the crowd which led to panic, dead people, and plot development. Three other mortars hit McCall (two near the Sergeant Major's car, and one a house where people were hiding) but the bandit truck detonated prematurely so ranged attacks are no longer an issue. Everyone important seems to be heading for the hospital/clinic/whatever. That's pretty much where we're at right now.

Beia pretty much said everything. I would read it eventually to get a better understanding of the other characters and such, but for now you can roll with that. Also, one of the mortars hit the Eastern most wall.

Also, I'm going to be moving on this week, either when everybody's finished posting or on Saturday night.
