José Luis Echeverría - Red-Green Alliance
Image

Account Name: Turealia
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Party Member

Positions in Government:
Senator

Constituency: N/A
Political Ideology: Social liberalism. The Government must interfere to guarantee equality in the economy. Free healthcare. Free tuition. No bailouts. No politician should earn more than the minimal wage.

Family: Silvia Peralta, spouse. Jose Echeverria, father. Luisa Gomez, deceased mother.
Background: Born in Mexico but raised in Fernao, Jose Luis grew up in one of the State of Ferdinand's worst neighborhoods. He knows what poverty is, and that's why he studied law. Not only to exit that state of eternal deception, but to make his political aspirations real.

Ever since he was a little boy, he always saw all of his family (his father, his mother, his late grandparents) work their butts off to buy the most minimum of the necessary groceries to live. He spent many days without tasting a singlt bit of bread ever since he was 5 until he was 17, when he finished his high school with a GPA of 3.5. He got inside the University of Fernao and studied in the Law School.

After graduation, he started working in one of Fernao's best law firms, where he earned the nickname of "The Tiger". He didn't leave a DA standing when he was on a trial. However, tides have changed and he thinks that there's nothing left for him on the courthouses of Fernao. Now, he wants a seat in the Senate. As of now, he's living in the FD-3 Constituency, where he was raised, and is awaiting his election. His time'll come...
Faith: Atheist

Likes: Cars, guns, his wife, Mexican food, Mexico, politics, Coffee, Whiskey, tobacco.
Dislikes: Onions and far-Right Conservatives

Account Name: Collatis
Occupation: Political activist

Party Position(s):
Leader

Positions in Government:
Mayor of Mococa

Constituency: N/A
Political Ideology: Mococan independence, anti-colonialism, direct democracy

Family: Wife and two daughters
Background: Barry Chiroto was born to an African-Fernoan father and a Portuguese-Fernoan mother in 1977, growing up in Mococa. His father was active in the Mococan independence movement, fighting on the side of pro-independence socialist militias during the Civil War. Barry's deeply held support for Mococan independence was further solidified when his father was gunned down by government forces in 1997, inspiring him to drop out of university and join the fight. Barry eventually rose to lead the Mococan Freedom Fighters, who maintained an alliance with the Revolutionary Fernãoense Army against pro-government forces, but began to clash with them near the end of the war over the issue of Mococan sovereignty. Barry and the MFF were not given a seat at the table after the United Nations intervention. Though Barry was happy to see the fighting end and the dictator fall, he was enraged by the provisional government's lack of care for Mococa self-determination. He is running to become Mayor of Mococa, where he will seek to address the city's pressing issues, and push for an independence referendum.

Some dude for the Mococa sub-RP:

Moisés Tshombe Fonseca - Mococa Independence Party
Image

Account Name: Costa Fierro
Occupation: Municipal councilor, civil engineer

Party Position(s): N/A
Political Ideology: Social democrat

Family: Moisés never married.
Background: Moisés Tshombe Fonseca was born on January 18, 1966 in Luanda, Angola. His father, Francisco, served as an NCO in the Portuguese Army and his mother, Maria, served as the personal assistant in the colonial government in Luanda. The nature of the life with the father in the military often meant Moisés went for long periods without seeing his father. Because they were in the military and in the government, they lived a comparatively privileged life compared with most black Africans, who lived in slums on the outskirts of the cities and in small shacks in rural towns. However, as the colonial government realized that it had failed to create a number of educated blacks to serve as administrative roles, as had most other colonial powers. Moisés became one of the increasing number of black children to receive an education.

Following the independence of Angola in 1975, Moisés fled with the rest of his family initially to Portugal, fearing retributions from the MPLA group who had taken power in the country in the immediate post-war period. He lived in Lisbon for the remainder of his primary school education before his family saved up enough money and moved to the city of Salvador in northeastern Brazil. The large African community in the city welcomed the family. His father wished to sign up as an officer with the Brazilian military but refused and instead he enlisted with the state military police. His mother stayed at home for the first six months until Moisés had adjusted to live in Brazil and at his new high school. She then got another assistant's job at the city council.

In 1984, aged 18, Moisés moved to São Paulo where he enrolled at the Universidade de São Paulo where he studied and graduated in 1990 with a Master's degree in civil engineering focusing on transport. That year he took up a job with the state government and worked on various roading projects around the state.

In 1998, aged 32, Moisés received news that his mother and father had been shot dead in a targeted killing, as his father by then had become a prominent official within the military police. Fearing for his life, Moisés left the country in 1998, moving back to Portugal where he lived for two years before emigrating to Fernão in January 2001.

Initially Moisés lived in the eastern part of the country and worked for the city council of Bemventos from 2001 until 2006 when he left and moved to the state of New Gurnsey to live in the predominantly Lusophone south. He settled in Mococa in December 2006 and ran for mayor in the municipal elections in 2008. Although failing the first time, he successfully gained a seat on the municipal council in 2011 and has been a councillor since.
Faith: Nominally Roman Catholic.

Some Indian guy for Police Commissioner:

Anil Pereira Santos
Image

Account Name: Costa Fierro
Occupation: Police officer

Positions in Government: Commissioner of the Federal Police

Family: Not married.
Background: Anil Pereira Santos was born on July 5, 1956 in Vasco da Gama in Portuguese Goa. His father was a civil administrator within the civil service of the colony and his mother did not work. Instead, she stayed at home and looked after her five children, of which Anil was the second oldest but the oldest son. The family were upper middle class educated Indians, which afforded them some slight privileges. For example, the family could afford to send their two sons, Anil and his brother Sanjiv, to school.

At age 5, Anil witnessed the Indian government launched Operation Vijay, which saw two days of fighting as the Indian armed forces launched an invasion of Portuguese territories. After the fighting, the government of António de Oliveira Salazar offered Goans the opportunity to move to Portgual after the Indian takeover. Anil's father saw no opportunities left in Goa and emigrated to Portugal, taking Anil and his brother with him. His mother remained, along with his three sisters.

Anil moved with his father to Lisbon and began to settle in. His father took up a job inside the Portuguese foreign ministry and largely remained out of Anil's personal life, save for interest regarding Anil's education. He began to fit into school where he became fluent in Portuguese and did well in academic studies but failed to become popular with the students, most of whom were white. As he and his brother progressed into secondary school, his brother Sanjiv took up boxing whilst Anil preferred academic prusuits. At age 16, he asked his father if he could become a police officer, to which his father disapproved, instead demanding that he go into the civil service like he did. At age 18, Anil defied his father and joined the General Security Directorate, where he became a junior officer, specializing in counter insurgency. Initially he was sent to Guinea-Bissau but later received a post in Angola, where he remained for two months before the Carnation Revolution ended the Portuguese Colonial Wars.

Anil joined the Public Security Police after he returned to Portugal, and served in Lisbon for six years between 1974 and 1980. In December 1980, he resigned from the service and toured Europe for a year before securing immigration papers to Fernão. He joined the Federal Police in 1981 and has served the force ever since, progressively being promoted until being appointed Commissioner in 2010.
Faith: Agnostic.

Cristovao Matos - Fernão Phalanx Movement
Image

Account Name: All Lukania
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Founder/Leader

Positions in Government:
Senator

Constituency: N/A
Political Ideology: Nationalist Authoritarian Syndicalist Corporatism

Family: Wife, Branca Matos, and four children, all of whom stay out of the spotlight.
Background: Cristovao was born November 12th, 1957. His parents, both of European descent, were part of Fernão's small but growing middle class of merchants, vendors and other middle-men. Cristovao's childhood was better than many Fernãoans, being a white child in the 1960's pre-revolution racialist democracy. His schooling was acceptable and he did well in literature and speaking. He was able to speak both Portuguese and English fluently by the age of 16. At age 17, the communist revolution built on the foundations of racial tensions overthrew the Fernãoan government. Cristovao's parents, white and reasonably wealthy compared to the majority of people, felt very unsafe in the new Fernão.

The communist government never ended up taking Cristovao's parents away or burning down their house, or stealing their savings, or any of the other fears he had, but their family were treated like second-class citizens by the government. Cristovao found work as a translator, not being accepted into any of the now communist-ran universities. In the later half of the 1970's, Cristovao discovered a passion he had for writing. He authored several anti-communist treatises in secret, which were distributed among dissenters. He wrote about how Fernão should be run, and the weaknesses in many ideologies.

By 1980, Cristovao had taken influences from many areas but particularly the Falangists in Spain, and formulated his own ideology for Fernão, Phalanxism. He wrote on his theoretical ideology whenever he had spare time, and while the majority ignored the works as misguided, a few here and there listened and were inspired. In 1982, the communist government was overthrown in a coup, led by the CIA. Cristovao was initially excited, but soon realized the new regime was just as bad, or worse. In 1985, Cristovao wrote a treatise called the "13 Points", which became the defining document of Phalanxism. This turned out to be Cristovao's magnum opus, and it attracted a number of new members to his informal movement.

Not exactly feeling threatened, but more for good measure, the regime's secret police visited Cristovao later that month and attacked him. He escaped with his life but lost the use of his legs, permanently. He managed to survive through the rest of the regime's tenure. At the outbreak of the civil war, Cristovao went into hiding and continued to publish works calling for a united Fernão, governed by Phalanxist principles. After the partial ceasefire in 2005, Cristovao came out of hiding and publicly formed a Fernão Phalanx Movement with those he had managed to convince, which used (mostly) peaceful means to help reunify Fernão and help rebuild. In 2017, the full ceasefire was signed and to Cristovao's dismay, public elections were held.

In the most recent elections, Cristovao decided the only way to shape Fernão into his vision would be through resolution, rather than revolution. Cristovao had lived through three of those and none had been pleasant. He officially formed the Phalanx Movement into a political party, and managed to be elected into the Fernãoan senate in a recent bi-election.

Typical Uniform/Attire: There is no full uniform but members generally wear black attire, and wear a Phalanxist pin on their chest

It has been denounced as a paramilitary and it's members have been called blackshirts in the past, which is not unreasonable considering their uniform. Arslan Shapur - CU
Image

Account Name: Paketo
Occupation: Former head of Tarheel Construction, Former Carowinds Rebel

Party Position(s):
Nominee for Public Works Secretary

Positions in Government:
None

Constituency: N/A
Political Ideology: Pinarchism, Conservative, Anti Communist

Family: Etoile Shapur - Wife, Maria Shapur - Daughter
Background: Born March 18th 1962 to a family Greeks that had migrated to the island back when the caliphs ruled, Arslan had a fairly decent upbringing until the collapse of the dominion and establishment of the first socialist republic. He say his father and older brother killed by radicals along with several other business owners in his hometown. This event would ground his politics for the rest of his life as he became a ardent opponent of socialism and communism though he would remain quiet to avoid losing his life as his father did.

As the CIA supported coup came to power, Arslan was initially a ardent supporter of the government hoping they would bring Fernão a economic miracle as Pinochet had done in Chile. As the time wore on, Arslan became increasingly unsupportive of the government as they never truly lived up to his expectations of them.

In 1987, he came to be head of a construction company known as Tarheel construction started by Americans. Here he showed a aptitude for construction work able to manage workers well and get jobs done well within budget. The company would be forcefully disbanded by leftist rebels in 1997 when a bomb went off destroying the entire headquarters of the company. Arslan was one of the few survivors of the explosions and gathering the funds he had gathered over the years and inherited from his father, joined with a Western aligned rebel group known as the Carowinds. He would quickly prove to be a capable quartermaster for the Carowinds managing supplies and any repair work to the controlled territory. As a member of Carowinds, he would met future senator Stephan Dannon and become close friends. With the election of President Krishnan, Dannon put forward Mr. Shapur's name to Krishnan with his ample experience in construction and infrastructure.

"In 2005, Professor Richard Griffiths wrote that "fascism" is the "most misused, and over-used word, of our times". I do not consider myself a Fascist, nor do the members of my party. I understand of course, where one would see the similarity. But a core tenet of Fascism is "direct action", political violence, which I detest. I have lived through three revolutions and I can say that violence, particularly political violence, gets us nowhere we want to be with a lot of suffering in exchange. That is why one of my mantras is resolution not revolution. Secondly, fascism as an ideology generally includes very conservative views of age and gender roles, as well as sexuality. Italian fascists referred to women as the "reproducers of the nation", open homosexuals were interned in concentration camps in Germany."

Sexuality is something you are born with, and it is immoral to treat someone differently because of this. So while I, and a fascist, might hold very broadly similar opinions on economics for example, I would argue vehemently that we do not share an ideology. I do not support fascism, and I would be very glad if the population of our nation agreed."

"To answer the second half of your question, I have seen one or two recent elections in other nations where the oppressive candidate has won. Nevertheless, I have no intention of "oppressing" the people, and I have trouble understanding where the assumption that I intend to do so is coming from. I believe in just treatment of all people in Fernão."

"Also, does it have anything to do with falangism?"

"Certainly. Phalanxism is, fundamentally, my ideology. Over the past thirty or more years, I have written a number of treatises outlining my political views, and worked to formulate these into an understandable ideology. The Phalanx Movement is the organization for other Fernãoans who agree with these views." (OOC: I made it up)

"Economically speaking, Phalanxism calls for a syndicalist, corporatist, tripartisan economy. Syndicalism suggests that workers, industries, and organisations be systematized into confederations, or 'syndicates', multiple cooperative productive units composed of specialists and representatives of workers in each field to negotiate and manage the economy. Corporatism is the sociopolitical organization of a society by major interest groups, known as corporate groups, such as agricultural, business, labour, military, patronage, or scientific affiliations, on the basis of their common interests. Tripartism refers to economic corporatism based on tripartite contracts of business, labour, and state within the economy. Each is to act as a partner to create economic policy through cooperation, consultation, negotiation, and compromise."

"Phalanxism is nationalist and patriotic, and we want Fernão to be a great nation. To that end we believe in empowering our nation's military to uphold national dignity, though we are not necessarily militaristic. Like Theodore Roosevelt, we understand that a strong military is an important part of the foundations of a respectable nation, but there is no reason that negotiations ever need to come to violence. We also believe in a very tough response to crime. I am, for example, quite controversially a proponent of the death penalty for crimes including murder, sedition, narcotics distribution, terrorism and rape."

"We believe that people have a right to own private property, but living in luxury while your countrymen are living in hovels is immoral and unjust. We do believe in the eventual abolishment of the democratic process, you only need to read an hour or two of our senate's transcripts to see how much time that would save. We also believe it is very important to cultivate our national talent. Education must be available to all who would benefit from it, including tertiary study."

"Yes, we most certainly have a number of similarities with Spanish Falangism. During my formative years it was one of my shaping inspirations. The most significant difference between Fernãoan Phalanxism and Spanish Falangism is that we disavow violence as a political means. It accomplishes nothing but suffering."

    Occupation: Justice of Maabara

    Judicial District: Eastern District
    Political Ideology: Social-Democracy

    Family:
    • Christopher Legrand [husband]
    • Rebecca Legrand [daughter]
    • Adam Legrand [son]
        Background:
Eileen is a native of Maabara, raised in the predominantly Jewish community there. The daughter of a prominent Rabbi, both her parents were intellectuals with sympathies for the communist insurgents. With the establishment of the First Republic 1974, her mother became a local leader of a women’s labour union. When the CIA-backed strongman seized power in 1982, her parents were among those the new government arrested in order to quell prominent voices of dissent. Fearing for her life, Eileen fled Fernão and made her way to London.

After a couple years working in the Jewish bakery of a second cousin to a childhood playmate of the niece of someone her father went to yeshiva with, her hosts helped her begin attending Victoria University of Manchester, where she would meet her future husband, Christopher Legrand. After four years of study, she earned a Bachelors in Law, after which she attended Manchester Polytechnic for a masters. She began working at Kenworthy’s Chambers as a barrister.

In 1996, Christopher and several other members of the Jewish community in Manchester were indicted for channeling funds to a terror group in the form of the resistance group Haganah shel Maabara. Although a number of their friends were successfully prosecuted, the charges against Christopher were ultimately dropped by the crown prosecutor. The episode left the couple rather distraught, and Eileen began yearning for home.

In 1999, Eileen and Christopher Legrand made their way to Fernão, where the residents of Maabara were attempting to rebuild a government system without the influence of the dictator. As one of the few people with any form of legal training, Eileen was asked to assist in forming the court system there. In 2006, after the failed ceasefire, a number of the leaders in Maabara, including Eileen, were targeted by government-loyalists in a series of assassination attempts. Eileen suffered only some sprains and light-bruising, but her husband was shot in the shoulder.

Undeterred, Eileen continued to serve Maabara as an jurist in the provisional government formed there, eventually coming to hold a position in the provisional high court, a role she continuously occupied until the Indian-led UN intervention. Though Eileen was not one of the members of the provisional judiciary from across the country were invited to participate in the constitutional convention, she did write several delegates to advocate for a strong judiciary.

In 2017, in recognition of her long history of well-reasoned rulings, contributions to jurisprudence, and demonstrated grace under fire, she was nominated by President Krishnan to be Judge-President of the East District.
