Ahoy, there!

It would be helpful if you could provide text versions of these updates instead of having everything incorporated into the images. I believe this has been brought up before. The text in your images might be readable to you or I, but there are some people whose eyesight is not as good as ours. Posting everything as images makes it harder to enlarge the font without blurring it.

It's not very hard to copy and paste either. Most formatting is cross compatible from zeta or most other forums to NS forums as well. So copy, paste, make a few edits to formatting that will only take a minute, then you're set.

Also, I use a school computer, so some image sites are banned (Firewall). This means I can't see the pictures.

Poked the KGB team off-site today about this request, we'll make sure that the text gets posted as text in the future for NSGP updates. We should have a correction in the next few days, and fixed going forward. Sorry about the trouble!

You better! I hear CAIN is "committed to overcoming gameplay differences to make the NationStates community more accessible." This is a serious issue against accessibility to the vision-impaired, and you wouldn't want that coalition at your heels!

CAIN is an interregional alliance that combats and avoids working with Nazi-themed regions.
I get that it can be your favorite pasttime to criticize CAIN in unrelated contexts, but you've done nothing for the coalition. You're not even a signatory citizen.
Good luck, KGB. Glad to hear you're making changes, I have perfect vision IRL and find it difficult to get past 2 paragraphs. I believe your threads could look fancier instead of....well, weird.

Indeed. A joke based on the fact that I did a double take when I read the line about "accessibility" And immediately thought "what are they trying to do, add wheelchair ramps to regions?" Vision impairment here worked as well xD

A Moment of Reflection

Posted Image

In the Kingdom of Great Britain we paused in reflection of the lives lost to the Manchester Terrorist Attacks. We sent our thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of those who lost their lives to a monstrous ideology of hate and intolerance. We deplored the attacks on free expression and young feminism that the terrorist hoped would shake the children of Britain's confidence to grow into confident young adults. We in the KoGB believe that the British people and the people of Manchester are stronger than these weak cowards. The Manc spirit will not be crushed by acts of terror, the British people are strong and resilient, we have been through acts of terror before and we will in all likelihood see them again, but nothing will change that indomitable spirit of British people. The spirit that fought against powers seemingly stronger and better equipped; The spirit that fought for right over might even when they had to fight on their own; The spirit that the Spanish Armada, Napoleon and Hitler all withered in response to; The spirit that cried "once more onto the breach, dear friends, once more"; The spirit that exists only here in these collection of Atlantic isles, bound by a common creed and an intertwined destiny that compel us all to declare, as Churchill did on the 8th May, 1945 "Advance, Britannia! Long live the cause of freedom! God save the King!"

A New Leader for the Royal Marines

Posted Image

In lighter news, this last month in KoGB, we've seen Major Changes (mind the pun) in our Royal Marines. We welcome a new Deputy Commandant and a brand new Commandant-General. Owen Bonaparte has been appointed to the rank of Deputy Commandant and Astra Rahl has been promoted, by His Royal Highness Field Marshal Victor Lancaster to the rank of Commandant-General. Astra Rahl has a storied history in the armies of NationStates being a Field Commander in The West Pacific Armed Forces. The two militaries have since started a joint military counsel and will work closely with each other in the future lead by our new Commandant-General.

The End of the Lancaster Premiership

Posted Image

Recently we've seen the closing of another Parliamentary Session, and the end of Prime Minister Mary Lancaster's term. Under Her Royal Highness Princess Mary Lancaster, we've passed laws and amendments that have changed The Kingdom of Great Britain for the better. During Prime Minister Mary Lancaster’s term, the King was required to attend to issues elsewhere and a Regency was declared for the period of the King's absence. The Prince of Wales and his wife the Prime Minister made quite the power couple ruling the Kingdom of Great Britain in the King’s name.

But we have moved to a new Government and a new Prime Minister after the recent June election with two relatively new parties both running an equal number of candidates for the positions with the United Nationalist Alliance gaining a majority under newly appointed Prime Minister Owen Bonaparte. The political parties that are now fill the partisan arena are the Royal Traditionalist Party and the United Nationalist Alliance. We’ve recently seen a wave a political parties bite the dust, the parties that have ceased to exist are Pax Britannica and The Conservative Party, whereas our own United Centrifical Party was merged with RTP earlier this Parliamentary Session.

Happy King's Day

June 4th was His Majesty King George VI's Birthday. We thank our King for his continued support, in gameplay and out of it. He is a true friend, a kind man and a wonderful King. Without his support and constant encouragement, this Region would not be as progressive and friendly as it currently is. We thank you, My Friend, for being you. And we wish you a very happy birthday, with many happy returns.

The June General Election proved to be the dawn of a radical new age in regional politics, drastically reshaping the electoral landscape from previous terms. The Royal Traditionalist Party and the United National Alliance were by far the primary competitors, and one another’s greatest rivals, with both parties fielding 5 parliamentary candidates. Both the RTP and the UNA are relatively new parties, having been formed at some point during the previous two terms, and subsequently having risen rapidly to regional prominence, quickly stealing the spotlight from long-standing regional parties like the Conservatives and Pax Britannica.

Asce de Vitre - Royal Traditionalist Party (9.1%)
Dewiland - Royal Traditionalist Party (8.3%)
Marcarius Rahl - Royal Traditionalist Party (10.4%)
Edward Windsor - United National Alliance (11.2%)
Owen Bonaparte - United National Alliance (11.6%)
Veron Belfort - United National Alliance (9.5%)
Wilhelm von Churchill - Royal Traditionalist Party (10%)
Kade W. Vasentius - Royal Traditionalist Party (9.5%)
James Nassau - United National Alliance (9.5%)
Akillian Talleyrand - United National Alliance (10.8%)

With the final results tallied, the United National Alliance was able to secure a slight majority, allowing for the election of their leader, Owen Bonaparte, as Prime Minister, while the RTP took up its position as the Loyal Opposition for the term. Notably, 9 Constituencies were introduced in this Parliamentary term, along with 9 members of the House of Lords, allowing for one of the largest parliaments in the region’s history.

Image

With his mandate secured by popular vote, and confirmed by both Houses of Parliament, Prime Minister Bonaparte set himself to the task of assembling a Cabinet and pursuing the objectives laid out during his campaign in June.

United With Owen:

Friends,

It’s good to be here today, and to see this great Party, this united party, determined and optimistic.

Look what we’ve achieved since our founding. Both experienced and brand-new members of our community flock towards the United National Alliance as a light of hope, a place of belonging and a chance of renewal. The kingdom of Great Britain is, as it has been for some time, in a place of choice. We make choices that define our region and its community not only to each other but to the wider array of Nation States. The Military and the Government can send completely different messages because that’s the system in which we find ourselves. Our RMB is a confusing place, often made up of simple chatter and left behind in the cultural phenomenon we present on the forum and our foreign office has slumped into a reactionary stance. These are the three corner stones a United people and a United party can fix.

Since our founding the membership of UNP has been brainstorming ways to continue growing our membership, activity and inclusion with both our direct community members and members of regions abroad. In this thought we came down to two, simple but effective solutions. First, a new elected official within the game side region, elected by the game side members. These are people often forgotten about here in KoGB and these and frankly the closest potential forum members we could hope for. The people already meeting the basic requirements for citizenship should feel welcome and know what nation states communities feel like.

Second, we have noticed the policy of KoGB has been one of reactive rather than proactive. The time of interregional cultural events has become one of the past. State visits have become something of the past and our community has become more enclosed because of it. The United National Alliance not only seeks to Unite the people of our community in KoGB but to Unite our peoples with those of our allies.
The current only method of doing so is using our military in joint operations. Now while we do have joint operations the military has never been used to its fullest potential.

The Government and military working side by side, towards one goal rather than setting their own agendas is crucial in developing a name for KoGB on the world stage. Now let me be clear. We do not stand to put the military under the control of parliament, nor answerable to the Government itself. These are separate bodies and must remain such. What we do propose however, is a sharing of information and representation for the Government in the military and military representation in the Government. Two positions to communicate the goals and the actions of both bodies that ensures a clear concise agenda with a clear-cut line of policy for all KoGB.

The United Alliance stands with you, and we stand for you.
Thank you all for your time!
God save the King, God save the country!

"BE IT KNOWN ON THE BEHALF AND NAME OF THEIR BENEVOLENT BRITANNIC MAJESTIES THE KING-EMPEROR AND QUEEN-EMPRESS,

It has come to the attention of His Majesty the King Emperor, His Royal Highness the Prince Regent and others that misinformation regarding the Kingdom of Great Britain's foreign policy especially as it relates to the government of Lazarus has been spread.. It has been suggested that the government of the Kingdom of Great Britain could, in the future, lend aid and support to those currently calling themselves Lazarene Government-in-Exile. This is not, and never will be the case.

His Majesty the King and His Highness the Prince Regent wish to express that they are of the opinion that this is an internal matter for the citizens of Lazarus to solve themselves. The Kingdom of Great Britain is now, and will be for the foreseeable future, neutral where this is concerned. Anyone who says, suggests, or insinuates otherwise is incorrect, and is distributing a falsehood for their own benefit.

God Save the Empire and Long Live our King!"

>>> Just for y'all who would prefer a text-based copy as opposed to a screenshot of the announcement from Saint James's Palace regarding the situation in Lazarus.

From the desk of the king:

Citizens of KoGB and friends,

Last night our beloved father and king passed away (he's fine IRL) and as heir apparent we succeeded him to the imperial throne. We have served our father and king for many years, giving him our complete loyalty and respect. Though we sometimes disagreed with him, we trusted his leadership and tried to guide him to the best course. We shall always miss him as founder, king, and father.

Unfortunately serious errors in judgment have taken place. Lead by our father and the SIS Director Cornelius (Cephal) Talleyrand, I can now acknowledge that they made a grievous plan to wage a shadow war on perceived enemies of KoGB. This was an overreaction to exterior forces trying to ostracize our beloved region over the return of one of our own; Vac/Constantine. The anger over this fact, that outside forces would cut us off without a second thought, without the benefit of the doubt, merely at the return of one man who was trying to make amends for his previous faults and failings, overwhelmed their better judgement. I often voiced strong opposition in voice calls and private meetings over the affair, but the king's stubbornness would not allow a change of course. We regret that we did not sound the voice of opposition more frequently and with greater conviction and instead followed where our monarch lead. Of course this plan will be abandoned, and the chief architects (Our former father and SIS Director Talleyrand) of this war will be made persona non grata in the most extreme sense here. Their actions are hereby utterly condemned by this region.

President Cat of Europeia has denounced us for these plans and we, of course, accept the blame, and acknowledge the lapses in judgement which have transpired. Unfortunately, she used her position as Queen of KoGB and her friendship with many of our members as a tool to monitor and report upon our activities, rather than attempting to publicly alter the ongoing course of events, thus betraying any trust the region had in her. As a result of these actions, she must also be considered persona non grata within our region, for the time being.

We have long been weary of foreign influence on our councils, which were often appointed at the misjudgment of the former king. Though we are always willing to make friends and allies, we cannot allow agents in our leading councils whose only interest is promoting the interests of foreign powers. To that end, we sever all familial ties with House Nassau and our former Queen mother, Brunhilde.

In the interest of regional security, We have taken over full access to the Root Forum Account and the Founder Nation. The passwords have been changed on both to protect their integrity. Let it not be said that these two most important tools in our region are in unsafe, irresponsible, or unthinking hands.

We will not portray the current situation falsely, and we acknowledge our own misjudgments, as well as those previously stated here. There are those who would blame ourself for our involvement in the debacle, and call on us to resign as well at this time, but we will not let years dedicated to building up this region be for nothing, only for us to abandon it to an uncertain future. We have no hope of making everyone happy at once, but we can and will try to heal the wrongs we have done over time.

So we declare this to be a time of restoration to KoGB. No longer will incivility and insults from our regional leaders be so tolerated and protected. We hope to foster a feeling of inclusion and unity in our region, so that we might shed our painful past and move forward into a shining, bright future. There are many who want to see us fail, but we will not and shall not, so long as we continue to keep the trust and loyalty of the kind and generous souls we call our citizens, our friends, and our regional family. You have our respect, our affection and our hopes.

Talk is cheap. Your region has threatened the sovereignty of no less than three regions. Why did you not oppose the infringement of the sovereignty of these places as Heir Apparent? Surely, you had influence. Furthermore, even if you did not, why did you not inform the governments (who were quite friendly with yours) of your king's threats? Men's characters are shown when they have power. As your region's power has shriveled over the past 24 hours, can you say to yourself that you would have acted this way again, were you in the position you are in now?

Are you whitewashing the fact that your predecessor actively sought to extend his influence and the influence of KGB by the use of those appointments? I wouldn't call it his misjudgment, and you do him a grave disservice by suggesting that it was the case.

KGB has spent the last four years trying to bolster its influence across the game and those appointments were just one of the ways Alexa went about doing it. I imagine it worked out great until this little snafu and you needed a scapegoat, eh?

I'd give it a fortnight (two weeks) or three weeks.
