Vancouvia? Never! A nation that repeatedly submitted the same proposal, even though it never got anywhere near quorum. About a dozen failed attempts. Vancouvia is also one of those Delegates that will approve any proposal however illegal.

He's shown nothing but contempt for the WA, let's not reward that.

Well, in reading the now-deleted post, it does seem that on balance some may consider my actions to lean more in one direction.

Nice to see these nominees are starting to pop up on the SC forum as drafts. I've giving this a bump in case other authors see something they like on the list. My hope is to inspire other authors to get writing for the Security Council too - if you've got questions about any of the nominees, feel free to ask.

I've directed him to another author that I know is interested in pursuing Tsunamy's commendation (and who is pretty well informed about Tsunamy's career.)

The major reason, the gist of my sentiment, as to why I placed Tsu on the list was his longstanding contribution to the South Pacific. He's often acted as a peacemaker and a community leader, keeping the family together. One decision he made had a wide-ranging impact on NationStates, IMO: he wanted to see the South Pacific's grassroots have more of a participatory role in the region's democracy than the typical 'democratic' feeder. It was a goal, a passion for democracy, of Tsu's that I always admired and I was lucky enough to serve in his capacity as Chair to the Assembly and help bring his dream to fruition. It was one of the major things he wanted to do as delegate - close the gap between "citizen" and "resident" - and I felt a degree of responsibility to help make it happen.

The "Local Council" was the entrenched compromise, ending a very difficult constitutional crisis over grassroots participation. The revival of game-side voting for delegate was a later development. Tsunamy has also played a significant role in a number of security crises in the South Pacific's storied history. Every region has an old guard, but it's unusual for an old guard, like Tsunamy, to show such a reverence for the input and the participation of players residing on the fringe of the community: the newest, the youngest, and the (otherwise) disengaged. Tsunamy would never ask a question like "why should we try to include people who don't include themselves?" To him it's a non-question, engagement is an essential feature of a democratic society.
