They spawned right on the border of me and a nation whose federation I'm currently at war with. I deleted two of their fleets (50.4k strong) with my Vrinn Stellar Armada (64.2k strong), ending with approximately 66% of my fleet in ruin. I'm going to try and wear them down like I would a non-awakened Fallen Empire before confronting their warp gate.

Really. I used giga cannons, fighter and bomber swarms and guass cannons and barely suffered 20 ships destroyed in several engaments. The fleet in the spawn system is usually around 55 k

I had to fight off 200K during the assault on the portal. Granted that 200K arrived in staggered smaller groups, but still.

Am I the only one who starts up new stellaris game and uses the "research_technologies" cheat and acts like a small, slightly weaker fallen empire?
Or am I just weird?

This is the problem I always seem to have with the Unbidden. I can take one or maybe two fleets and then I need to pull my fleet back to replace my losses. Problem was, last game I let them get way too big before attacking them, so before I could get my fleet even close to strong enough to take one one fleet, there were two more Unbidden fleets depopulating my planets.

Glowly blue bastards. >:(

Given the common taste pallet between us and the unbidden wrt aliens, perhaps we could come to some sort of understanding over a juicy steak...

I got lucky in the fact they pushed exactly the opposite way of my empire. It allowed me to hit the portal with a full health fleet at around 80 k firepower .

Regenerating hull tissue saved me life a lot. There were times I couldn't fully repair the fleet before the next unbidden showed up so that extra health I got saved several ships.

Gah, an Isolationist Fallen Empire declared war on me out of nowhere.

Outnumbered 5 to 1 and not looking good.

EDIT: Lost the war, turns out they only wanted to humiliate and cleanse a planet, and I only lost 4K ship power, so it could be worse.

This is my exact problem. Currently my economy can only build so many ships before I run out of minerals, so I can easy take out their Anchors with only a few ships lost by warping into the systems and emergency FTL-ing out once the Anchors are destroyed and the 50-100k response force warps in, but the Dimensional Portal is simply too big with too much health to do this.
Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search for our better selves?
In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone,
Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws
The only shadow that the Desert knows:—
"I am great OZYMANDIAS," saith the stone,
"The King of Kings; this mighty City shows
"The wonders of my hand." The City's gone,
Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose
The site of this forgotten Babylon.

We wonder, and some Hunter may express
Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness
Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace,
He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess
What powerful but unrecorded race
Once dwelt in that annihilated place.

What are the specs of your ships?

When the Unbidden first appeared I had a fairly varied fleet with equal numbers of most ships. However, as losses mounted I stopped building Destroyers and Cruisers because they were simply not economically effective against the Unbidden. Instead, now I use a combination of long-range battleships that have focused arc emitters and a shit-ton of short-range corvette torpedo boats armed with proton torpedoes that have a 200% damage-to-shield modifier. I'm maintaining a large corvette screen in order to buy the battleships time to actually do damage without receiving any in return as well as the facts that the corvettes cost approximately 15% of what a battleship does and in most of my space stations can be built in the span of three weeks. Plus proton Torpedoes.

If you have the tech, I would suggest design a second battleship with either particle land or mega cannons. Their range is superior to the unbidden and if you have any debris from battles, research it because you will get unbidden weapons you can equip

Particle Lances are actually worse against the Unbidden, I think, because they do -33% damage to shields and they fire slower than my Arc Emitters despite having the same range of 110.

Alright I've given up on the game. They've started focusing solely on my and I've lost half of my empire in about a month. Fuck this.

Update: I once again destroyed an Anchor, and the second I warp into their home system after having destroyed two more of their fleets, FOUR MORE WARP OUT OF THE FUCKING VOID.

Yeah, I give up. I was literally in the process of building ring worlds, too :( Come on Paradox.

True but that is not a problem if you use them with a ton of bombers which rip right through shields. Your lack of bombers might actually be part of why you were not killing them. I have a dedicated carrier class alongside my mega weapon classes of battleship. If you get the unbidden in another game, I would suggest making several types of the same class ship to deal with different enemies.
