Claim: Northern India
Territory Controlled: Parts of present day Persia and parts of Tibet

History: Legend saids that Guru Singh Khan descendants actually founded the city of delhi and founded the Sikh Empire marking the beginning of India's revival. However, invaders from the north sieged Delhi causing the empire to become weak. Instead those invaders are of turkish descent and accept to settle with the Sikhs. Expansion of the Sikh empire begin as they expand west of Persia and east of Tibet Unfortunately they refuse to convert themselves into Sikh culture and remain their culture. 19 years later Guru Banji Khan has died of natural causes and had his heir Guru Singh Khan to take power marking the golden age of Sikh culture.
The Sikh Empire have a trading partner with Arabia and formed a alliance to fight against threat. Guru Singh khan has 3 children who will become the next Guru or ruler of the Sikh Empire. The Sikh Empire remained their rivalry with Persia who threatens to invade Northern India. 7% of the Sikh population are of turkish descent thats because 32 years ago people who lived in northern Persia unexpectedly migrated towards India and founded the right place to settle unfortunately people already settled there so they violently raided the Sikhs capital which 900,000 people lost their lives and offered them a tribute. However, the Sikhs refuses but tell them to stopped living their unstable live and lived with the Sikhs which is why they were are a direct descendant from them. The Sikh Empire have a government system where Guru's who died of natural causes will be replaced by his son if they don't have any heir at all they will looked for someone who will become the next successor of the new dynasty.

RP example: One brightfull morning in the capital city of delhi the Guru is seen swordfighting with his 1st son to become a professional warrior while the other two is doing a quick job to look over people's lives. His son asked in confusion "When am i become ruler of the Sikhs?" Guru Singh said "soon son...soon." They continued their swordfighing until the Guru's wife called over dinner as both of them lay down their swords. Meanwhile, the 2 princes have returned home from their daily job and sit with his youngest brother who's stomach have growing for food "Mother is it finished yet?" The mother sigh in disbelief "patience my child." (Unless I know you)

Claim: Anything unclaimed in the blue-colored area.
Territory Controlled: As stated above.
Military Population: 100,000
History: The history of what can be called the only organized state for the Germanic peoples in Europe , can be tied to only one name in history. That of the House of Welf. After the collapse of the Roman Empire as well as the establishment of the Gauls as a powerful force to be reckoned, the petty warlords of the German states descended into centuries of armed conflict and division among themselves. Despite that, it was obvious that the warring states needed a mediator among themselves. The centuries of conflict had resulted in two equally powerful Kingdoms being formed in German territory by the early 1700s. The Kingdom of Hannover led by the House of Welf, and the Kingdom of Bavaria, led by the House of Wittelsbach.

Squeezed between the ever-threatening Gauls in the West and the 'barbaric' Slavs in the East, the Germanic peoples had come to feel isolated and in danger. This was also the impression of the monarchs of the two powerful Germanic states. They were forced to play both sides, acquiescing at their demands, allowing them rights and privileges that would be unacceptable for most sovereign Kingdoms. At the same time, the threatening claims of the Roman Empire at the heartlands of Southern Germany (although limited) were seen as a danger to the German nationhood. As the 18th century progressed with tensions between the two German getting increasingly higher, so did the Pan-Germanist sentiment in the industrialized centers of Northern and Southern Germany. It was obvious to those involved in the sphere of politics and intrigue that the situation could no longer be kept as it was. The political landscape in the German states would change in radical fashion in the years to come, and the consequences could not yet be comprehended.

It was the will of Otto X Welf, King of Hannover that saw the German War initiated in 1796 against the Bavarian Kingdom. The previous years had seen a consolidation of all remaining neutral states of Germany (approximately around fourteen principalities and duchies) under the careful political nourishment of the Welf. Now would be the time that those connections would come to fruition. On April 26th 1796, the German states aligned with the Kingdom of Hannover signed the Wennigsen Declaration, proclaiming Otto X as King of Germany and declaring their intention to bring the Bavarians and their allies under their fold. However it was not to be so easy. Although steady progress had been made, the war was still ongoing by 1802 and it seemed that no end was in sight. At last, the Welfs and the Wittelsbach came together with their representatives at the town of Kempten to negotiate a treaty that would see the German states united under a compromise that came to be known as the Friendship of Kempten. In exchange for their loyalty and submission to the newly formed German crown, the Welfs had to moderate their power within the Confederacy; the title would be changed to that of King in the German States (to show the autonomy of the German States), and the parliamentary model that had been introduced in the southern and central German states would be introduced to all of the Confederation.

The death of Otto X in 1834 marked the end of an era for the Confederation of the Weser. As Otto XI ascended the throne, one could have high hopes for the new German state. But it remained to be seen if it could make an impact on the world state and be respected at the international scene or if it would serve as a serf to the Gauls and the Slavs, forever bound to their whims.

Vassals: 75,000 professional soldiers (no conscription); Vassals provide 1/4th of their troops in attack wars and in defense of other vassals and half of their troops in defense of the Imperial borders (and obviously their full troops in defense of their own lands)

History: In 950, the Kingdom of Asturias fell to the Umayyad caliphate. However, instead of conquering it in it's entirety, the Muslims established a Christian vassal with some restrictions: Asturias was forced to restrict its military and would not be able to marry into European nobility. The gamble worked for a while: Asturias prospered under Umayyad hegemony and with military expenditures at a low invested this money into culture and trade, benefiting the neighboring nations. At the same time, they were kind of held hostage by their Muslim neighbor.

The first Hispanic revolution happened in 1150; As the Umayyad rulers raised excessive military forces for a renewed Djihad. Their failure to see however, was, that their people - including the military - were predominately culturally closer to the Asturias, than to their Arab overlords. Their military preparations were constructed to be driven by greed and in violation of a century year old peace. Civil war broke out, lead by the lower nobility (who had long waited for an opportunity to dethrone the Umayyad) and with serious support in military.

It was rumored that with the help of the Gaulish Christians, Andalusia finally passed into the hands of the Alivids, an extremist Mutazilite dynasty. The Ashari Umayyad however were still in control of Morocco. Hakim Alivid, was a Spaniard in all but name and thus changed even that into Enrique Alivid and ruled as a king. He opened the Kingdom (even more) to trade with his northern neighbors and abolished the Jizya tax for Christians and Jews (although, he kind of replaced it 4 years later, by lifting the common tax and giving tax exemptions to mosques).

What followed were centuries of struggle at the straight of Gibraltar. In many cases the Hispanic-Moroccan wars fell together with Muslim-Christian wars in the Holy land, leading much of the Muslim world looking at the Alivids as traitors (As they did not participate in the defence of Islam and -in fact- bound Umayyad forces, that might have joined) In 1400, the Alivids were finally successful, and conquered Morocco from Fez to Anti-Atlas.

However, spreading its soldiers thin and the diplomatic and religious isolation from the rest of the Muslim world had two other effects: A new heresy had spread, carried by common population and opposing the religious authoritarianism. From it sprung the second Hispanic revolution. The military was mostly loyal believers of Sunni Islam and the revolution of the reformers could have taken much longer and ended much bloodier but then, the Asturias gamble came back at them. With the help of another Christian nation (tbd.) they raised a huge army of mercenaries and started a war of aggression. King Joakim thus decided to negotiate with the reformers, before his Kingdom could crumble. In the end he agreed to abandon his throne (as he would still hold a powerful duchy), separate worldly and religious power and to give over jurisdiction to secular judges.

The Christians could be stopped with only small land gains but Andalusia could not strike back, not only for fear, that Gaul could join on the attacker's site but also because a number of powerful imams had assembled an army to start a counter-revolution, so the land was ceded in a hasty peace deal.

Within the next century, the nation focused to expand south, to exploit the riches of Africa and to turn the Sahel, where Muslim rulers were still struggling with pagan population, to the Reformation. The first vassal Kingdom was established, although "Atlanta", the Kingdom behind the Atlas mountains, was only sparsely popularized, it was still economically important enough to justify this special title and privilege, as it secured inter-Saharan trade routes. There was another attempt in revolution by the disowned Alivid dynasty but the Reformers had found a noble champion of their own and the King of the Khajanid dynasty was able to unite the major part of the military behind himself.

The Andalusian Golden Age started with the Christian Reformation in the early 17th century. The Muslims saw the compatibilities with the new Christian denomination and decided to aid the Protestants - where it was economically sound. They lend their soldiers as mercenaries and at times raided catholic areas, where they could under the disguise of war. With the influx of money, so came further expansion southwards, as Andalusia conquered the Takur and Jolof and vassalized the Songhai (kind of, the south of their former lands resisted and was of minor economical interest to Andalusia). With the increase of African electors to their elective monarchy, the Lords of the Iberian Penisular under the rulership of the third Khajanid king in succession decided to reform the Government again, making succession inheritable again and granting the King - now called Emperor - the power to set up viceroys to govern titles outside Hispania. The Kings of Atlanta and Songhai were given exceptional status.

Towards the end of the 17th century, Andalusia joined the colonial forces with great investment, claiming the major part of the Southeast American coast. The run-down outpost of Gambia, and the river belonging to it, were brought from the Gaul and used as a harbor on the way further south, where Andalusia claimed the south coast of Westafrica between 3° and 5° western longitude.

Their hasty expansionism in America however turned to their disadvantage in 1810, when the southern Viceroyalities revolted. The long supply lines and the revolter's knowledge of the land could easily have mend the end of all the American colonies so the Emperor decided to make a concession: By granting the larger part of his remaining colonies the status of a vassal-kingdom (with a minor contract concerning tariffs added to the oath of fealty) he could ensure their loyalty for now, thereby gain local forces and tighten his personal control on the remaining part of the colonies. The southern part was lost, however.

In the end, the redefinition of Sao Paulo as a Kingdom should also turn out to be an economically reasonable move. While this meant less military control and less taxes, the King had to pay for the troops in his realm and their supplies himself, lifting a great financial burden off Andalusia.

Rome's Folly(Do not remove)

I just now saw, that Rome claims, they would rightfully own half of my land (because of some borders from 1200 years ago? Seriously, that is a claim?)
Maybe I should change the app to include ALL OF HISPANIA! ... That would be another about 7-8 million people. Also I'm still torn between a general conscription (all men age 17-18 have served a year) and a professional army. The former gives me potentially 7.6 million "soldiers", in case I can find a reason why every former servicemen have to return to active duty on the other hand, what use is a person, who has for a year trained to fire a gun 10; 20 maybe 30 years ago and has since then worked as a farmer, miner or construction worker? And half of my army are young boys age 17 to 19 who probably don't even want to be there...
A professional army would definitely be more professional and loyal ... but isn't a people's army the best protection from tyranny?
Is general conscription a thing of the 1840 btw, or did that not happen till WW1?

Unfortunately, the description of the Weserbund as a plaything is largely accurate :(

What unified the German states was the will of the Welf alone and I presume, the indifference of neighboring powers to act on it.

That doesn't mean they won't try to achieve greater things ;)
I've never once been inconvenienced by too much time off.

Is that a new pal over in Spain I see? Since it is only a Roman claim and I think claims overlap pretty heavily thus far, it should be alright.
While I'm not co-op and don't have authority to accept anything (and don't even know if your app is done), I think it looks rather good.

By the by, to people looking for spots to apply for, there are still a fair amount of places open. Much of China is, if that's your cup of tea, as well as a fair portion of South America and North America (mainly Mexico), Africa, and Scandinavia. Same said for a lot of inland Asia. There is also room in Persia and parts of the Middle East. A little confusing right now, but I suppose just ask around for what you find interesting?

If no one is going to claim China, I'll take the southern half of it.

By the way, I understand that most people want to play as a European nation, but there is plenty of unclaimed land in Southern and Central America. I would like to see at least one South American nation, just to make the RP more interesting.

I believe it would be best to wait and see if anyone claims it first, if only because land seems to be becoming a precious resource to new applicants.

Okay, I got myself the rest of the Iberian peninsula, too. Conscription stays but can be avoided, mostly by paying a sustituto, which is Spanish for remplacement, which is French for replacement, because it actually were the French who allowed buying yourself out of military service. ;)
I'm still not entirely happy with the flag, also the green-white-green background with an inverted diagonal stripe holding a representation of Andalusia and the 3 Kingdoms is the general idea.
But it's almost midnight here and the night ends early so that's it for now.

Imperial lands in the darker shade of green, vassals slightly lighter. Unowned claims in yellowish green.

Military Population:
Andalusia has military conscription of it's male population, service time is one year, usually at the age of 17 to 19. This service can be avoided/waived in case of: (1) Two older brothers have already served; (2) A moderate payment ("sustituto") to the state; (3) physical disabilities; (4) working in a civil service or privileged government supplier (military service must still be done if such work terminates before the age of 25) or (5) holds office at a mosque (this is rather unusual at such young age; military service must still be done if office terminates before the age of 25). About half the male population use one of those options (most often the sustituto, if the family can afford it) to avoid the service time.

Imperial: 120,000 professional soldiers, 80,000 currently serving the compulsory year.
Vassals: 75,000 professional soldiers (no conscription); Vassals provide 1/4th of their troops in attack wars and in defense of other vassals and half of their troops in defense of the Imperial borders (and obviously their full troops in defense of their own lands)

Former servicemen are registered and can - theoretically - be called to the defense of the realm until the age of 45. This duty can be waived by paying half the normal (per-conscription) sustituto. (This option is obviously not available if the realm is in a war or war is imminent).
This total reserve is about 2,4 million people but since they are not within the military chain of command and their memory of service time and willingness to return into service are often poor, this is hardly something the state can rely on.

History: In 950, the Kingdom of Asturias fell to the Umayyad caliphate. However, instead of conquering it in it's entirety, the Muslims established a Christian vassal with some restrictions: Asturias was forced to restrict its military and would not be able to marry into European nobility.
