The Prussian-inspired system was based on service of only 3 years with the colors and 4 years in the reserve. The Mexican standing army has become simply a training cadre for the intake of conscripts and for police, as cadets are mandated 1 year of civil police or State Rural Guard service. The army's organization for peace and war is virtually the same. The Empire is divided into army-Inspectorate districts for the purposes both of administration and of recruitment. On the outbreak of war the command organizations of the district became that of a corps in the field. Localization of the Army and its recruitment gives the districts pride and interest in their own corps. Generals of the Imperial Army are frequently transferred, an efficient mounted state police force of rurales took over responsibility for public order, and the army itself was improved top to bottom and bottom to top, with immediate death penalties for attempting to rebel using "Plans". While modernizing the Mexican Army, at the same time Maximilian terminated the historic pattern of local commanders attempting to seize power using irregulars or provincial forces.

The Empire is divided into army inspectorates, each of which oversees three or four corps. A corps consists of two or more divisions and various support troops, covering a geographical area and is also responsible for maintaining the reserves and State National Guard in the corps area. The basic tactical formation is the division. A standard Imperial Mexican division consists of two infantry brigades of two regiments each, a cavalry brigade of two regiments, and an artillery brigade of two regiments. The regiment is the basic combat unit as well as the recruiting base for soldiers. When inducted, a soldier enters a regiment, usually through its replacement battalion, and receives his basic training. There are three basic types of regiment: infantry, cavalry and artillery. Other specialties, such as combat engineers and signal troops, are organized into smaller support units

Point of Divergence: Main Divergence in 1863, Battle of Puebla
History: After Mexico defaulted on its debts, Napoleon III sent an expeditionary army by fleet to Veracruz, where they landed, demanding the reestablishment of the Mexican monarchy. Finding immediate, the Battle of Puebla resulted in the destruction of most of the Republican regular forces. The capture of General Zaragoza cleared the way for French forces to capture Mexico City before scattered Republican forces could assemble a defense, leading to the capture of Benito Juárez. The occupation of a guerrilla Mexico would force Napoleon III to send an even bigger army to Mexico. After 2 years of fighting, guerrilla armies were suppressed despite a costly guerilla war and Benito Juárez arrested. Before being executed, Maximilian I, the new monarch established by the French would offer Juarez the position of Prime Minister. Juarez would accept to save his life and the life of his men for the opportunity to continue having a role in the future of his nation, under a largely liberal monarch. The Conservative Party, however, had become too weak to effectively protest this move, as their little popular support vanished after losing territory to the US and now allowing the French to invade . Over the next decade, Maximilian I would rule with new-found prestige in the continent, as immigration flourished from the American Civil War(in which Maximilian and France supported the CSA diplomatically), as Emperor Maximilian established the Carlota Colony for Confederate immigrants. French aid turned Mexico into a exploited, but successful client state. French soldiers would keep the Native Americans raids at bay in exchange for the resources of Mexico. Now, with a properly established Empire, a national identity has finally begun to form. Despite the persistent poverty among the Indian population, terrorist attacks by the former Conservative Party, and the need to rebuild a country that has suffered decades of destructive civil war and dictatorship, the nation prepares to adopt a formal constitution and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Mexican Independence by Agustín de Iturbide next year.
Culture: Mexican, Indigenous(the Yaqui-Comanche-Mexican Wars never happened due to Mexico keeping the same military alliance Spain had with them against the Apache ), as
Minorities: French due to being client state of France, Catholic Irish population of refugees that fled the famine, Belgian and Austrian foreign legionnaires that decided to stay and bring their families, Polish exiles, Catholic Italians, small Confederate community in Central Mexico's Carlota Colony, Central American refugees, German immigrant businessmen, and many other Europeans invited by Maximilian to settle, as part of his strategy to rebuild and Europeanize Mexico.

History: After the war of 1812, when America successfully conquered the British colony of Acadia, Great Britain launched a massive undertaking in which they sent large numbers of troops to reclaim Acadia. Acadia supplied many necessities and niceties in Great Britain, and they wanted it back. The local Acadian militia did not contribute many fources in the ensuing ruckus, and with both armies greatly weakened, Acadia was able to launch a surprise attack, driving out both America and Great Britain. Frederick Johnson negotiated with the British royalty, and a compromise was arranged that Acadia would send 15% of annual yield in crops and various textiles.
Culture: Cold-based; they have an affinity for all things cold. Freedom of religion, right to bear sidearms. Wood is important, as is paper - generally, avid readers. High literacy rate.
