I want to make a new character with a connection to another character.

Biography: Born on an asteroid mining ship known as 'Athena' in the outer edges of the inner Empire; Seth was the third generation of his family to have spent their entire life knowing nothing more than the its weathering metallic hull and the endless void of space outside of it. Since their launch hundreds of years ago they have only ever stopped to refuel, restock or repair. Life on Athena was not a hard one, just a maddeningly boring one. Even with the human aid required to operate the ancient machinery or the constant trips out the airlock to conduct repairs to prevent the rusting fossil of a ship from falling apart. There was little entertainment and the long eroded shock dampeners caused the vessel to constantly vibrate whenever the drill operated inhibited any attempts to alleviate that. By 18 most had gone through all the possible media or grown tired of the entertainment systems that had been jury rigged together after decades of use. Crew were isolated for most parts of the day as corridors connecting rooms were vented of oxygen to save supply. It wasn't uncommon for some weaker willed crew to go mad with loneliness by the time they reached 50 and dive head first out of the airlock. For many that was the only way they stepped off the Athena due to laws passed centuries ago to meet the resource demands of the early days of the war which banned the ceasing of operation until their repeal.

The colonial administration had forgotten them and were unlikely to remember for the rest of Seth's life or that of his descendants. With little formal education other than basic studies and a creative hands on 'training' as a low gravity mechanic he had no hope of surviving elsewhere while avoiding being picked up and imprisoned over an ancient law. Perhaps you could consider him lucky that during a refuelling stop on a colony a CDF unit boarded the ship and issued drafting orders to every fighting age crew member. The remaining crew were reassigned to the colony before the administrator 'rechristened' the Athena into a prison ship to deliver the perpetrators of a recent mass-mutiny to imperial justice.

Once he had received that call, the only people that remained back home were his mother and his 22-year-old sister. John went to school and completed a degree in mechanical engineering, with the intention to help with the growing manufacturing of weapons and military vehicles, but it seems as if life had other plans for him. John was given the rank of Private (E-1) immediately upon enlistment, leaving behind the colonial world of Delenatheni.

Before you begin, let me note that Earth has basically become Coruscant from Star Wars. The only plants are decorative now, and all the food has to be shipped in, the oxygen is recycled from the carbon in the air, and the water comes from shipping tankers. The whole planet has a set level of humidity.
