Is that even a thing? R/D without WA?

You must not have learned much in the few months you've been playing, yet you lead a defender third string restoration organization group..

Just keep warming the bench, Somyrion. :D

With enough time and dedication I could take a region over by gaining the founders trust, using RO, etc, either way it is entirely possible to do R/D without WA, just not nearly as practical

Sure, but Somyrion does not fall under either category -- so it's pointless to analogize himself with other Raiders and Defenders.

Plus I have never heard of someone that identifies as a "non-jumping non-WAing R/Der". :P

One can be involved in R/D without WA, through being involved in planning and other affairs.

While Solidarity hasn't exactly lived up to the oddly high expectations it set for itself, it's still done good for native communities. It's an interesting experiment, one that I think many organizations will learn from.

Right -- still not getting the point, though. Let me quote again and this time feel free to substitute "Solidarity" for Somyrion.

Somyrion does not fall under either category -- so it's pointless to analogize himself with other Raiders and Defenders.

Neop wrote:It's an interesting experiment, one that I think many organizations will learn from.

One probably can't learn from a restorer-kid (Tim, is that a word?) that has had their WA residing in a foundered region since the outset of their restorer group that has been here no longer than since I've taken down my Halloween decorations this year.

You especially shouldn't learn from someone that tried to liberate bring "moral support" to a region by puppet flooding with non-WA's. If that's effective then I suppose you can R/D with non-WA's after all. Bad Neop! I expected more. :(

It is now.

I'd appreciate if we'd try to keep mostly on-topic to The Grey Wardens and Spear Danes in this thread, criticisms of Solidarity may be more appropriate for their thread. Somyrion still shouldn't parody our flag though >.>

Roavin's reaction as Tim burst back into life at a Warden Press Conference

Over the past time span of somewhere between the last month or the last five months, depending on who you ask, it would be fair to say that Commander Tim Stark had been even more retired than perennially retired sheep Drop Your Pants, at times even challenging Wopruthien for ultra retired status. It was therefore a surprise when, two major updates ago, Commander Stark got online two minutes before a defensive jump with only one working switcher, and made it into the jump before every defender and also before most of the darkspawn forces. Expressing severe exaggerated disappointment in the abilities of everyone else jumping, he committed to something unheard of and showed up to a second consecutive major update. During this major update, very little went on, though Vapid did extend his apologies for not giving the Wardens some taggers to mow down that night. There were also things at minor update, but everyone knows that minor update is just a plot made up by Max Barry to make people in the Eastern Timezone of the US skip lunch. It's clearly a fake news update, believe me. Anyways, here are those things, to demonstrate that The Grey Wardens are still kicking, even if we shockingly enough can't summon up 70 updaters out of our ass.

Wardens set up brazen stealth positions around the target

Expecting action aplenty from the darkspawn, after some assurances that there would be ongoing operations, the Wardens were out in force on patrol. With a significant turnout from Wardens, as well as their allies, it looked to be a successful night. It was not to be had, though, as the Darkspawn threat did not materialize, and what little groups did appear seemed to be targeting other Darkspawn hives in their actions. It was at that moment that it was decided there would have to be a brazen stealth operation. At least, the Wardens assumed the operation at the major update was one of brazen stealth, because the Darkspawn saw nothing coming and were still asleep as they burned on Kandy's BBQ. Overall, while a slow update, it was still a successful operation with a great turnout from the Wardens and allies alike.

The end of Minor Update came with the clear sounds of "blip blip blip blip" echoing from The Kingdom of Kvatch, which had finally fallen to the Coalition of the Blip. As some avid readers will remember, a few months back The Grey Wardens, The Renegade Islands Alliance, 20XX, and other friends took a little visit to a founderless invader region known as the Kingdom of Kvatch. Founded by the darkspawn known as Vaculatestar, the allied forces torched the region for about four days before Vac brought the founder back online and claimed it was all just a trap. Calling his bluff of not being attentive with the region, the Wardens and Friends laughed their way to the next operation. Well, it looks like Wardens were correct, and we're happy to say that The Kingdom of Kvatch is now definitely not going to be founderless again (BLIP BLIP). In addition to that, there were other things that happened this past minor update. With a solid turnout of Wardens and their allies, there were some impressive defenses and a decent liberation to boot. Most importantly, we would like to recognize the efforts of Darkpawn Brihimia for his attempted brazen stealth operation against Liberty Alliance. A tip for the future would be that you need to use actual stealth in brazen stealth operations. They were soundly dispatched, but we encourage the young Darkspawn to "try harder" and "innovate more".

Tim rolled for Technology Bonus

Are you offended that the Wardens are using MT and PMT era images? Disappointed your favorite Defender Organization isn't still trying to find deep archives of Grey Warden fan art? Claiming that we are disgracing the TGW name with these non-Dragon Age images? Well, let me tell you a little story. One day, yours truly was looking for images, and there were very few good ones that were usable in a report. Therefore, rolling a D20 for technology bonus, there were hopes and dreams for maybe a 17 or 18 that would give us a bit more leeway. Well, we rolled a 20, and now we can use whatever we want. If you have an issue, please send them to Tim-Opolis and we'll put them in the file.

In War, Victory.
In Peace, Vigilance.
In Death, Sacrifice

TL;DR: The past two updates, we defended some regions and liberated some regions. Tim is semi-back. Brihimia can't stealth raid. We rolled a 20 for technology bonus and now use what images we want

A Grey Warden observes the shambolic Darkspawn efforts

"Now that I'm back, we're going to make Defending great again. Believe me, we're going to win so much. We're going to win so much that we're going to get tired of winning, we're going to win that much." These were the words with which Warden Commander Tim Stark returned to active duty, bringing with him morale, the will to fight, and a lot more drinks than what were being presently consumed at update. Three days on, and the success pattern continues, though nobody has gotten tired of winning so much yet.

Spreading out in patrol, the Grey Wardens and their staunch allies were expecting some Darkspawn danger. What the Defender Patrol was evidence that The Invaders have been reduced to nothing more than a shambolic piler force since the retirement of Larry. First the darkspawn attempted a jump 20 minutes early, for a fakeout in which they would move out and then move back in. They missed. Then they attempted another region, in which they updated but took about ten minutes to realize they had. This would then be followed by a jump in which the lead of The Invaders missed update, and would have lost to defender numbers even if they had made it. Finally, KGB's Piler Force closed out the night by being soundly defeated by pure Warden and Friends speed. All in all, a pleasant night, in which the Wardens were reassured by TI's performance that they serve no actual threat on the battlefield anymore. In addition, recognition must be given to The North Pacific Army. Shame on you for attempting to raid The Arab League the day its liberation went to vote! Shame on you for really poorly mistiming your jump! Shame on you for getting outnumbered by defenders anyway! That concludes another successful night. We're ready to win more, are you?
