This displeases me greatly.Bralia wrote:And so it has been done. It was actually disturbingly easy to control France. Like . . . seriously . . . it should NOT be this easy to subjugate a nation that's your equal or better. Once my relations with France stabilized, there was barely any liberty desire at all. Support Loyalists was probably active for 5% of the time, right when I first acquired the union.
A Short and Choppy Timeline of Events:
- Allied Castile
- Refused to surrender Maine
- Called in Castile on the grounds of promising land
- Surprisingly stackwiped a French army
- Threat of War of the Roses loomed
- Went to the peace deal expecting to take provinces
- Castile said they didn't want the province they had marked as desirable, which I would have been more than happy to give
- Flipped my lid at Castile for ensuring that I would send a peace deal that would ruin our trust and alliance
- Opened final tab . . . "force union" . . . *stared at option with raised eyebrows, I'd forgotten this was possible*
- Pressed the union, took some money, ruined my relationship with Castile and hooked up with Aragon and Austria almost immediately after the war ended
- 50 years of unopposed rule later (1497), integration starts immediately after being allowed
- Influence ideas (-25% diplo-annexation cost and +2 diplo rep were acquired with reasonable haste of the course of those 50 years)
- Expected finish date in 1527-8 at maximum reputation
- Got an awesome Parliament issue that reduced annexation cost by an extra 15%
- Finished in 1523
- Glorious victory
- Subjugated Desmond sometime after the French union and fed him Ireland (I was seriously out to make Influence ideas worth my while)
I've abandoned Europe, I've conquered them to oblivion, and now I've eaten them in a personal union. I've officially done every possible option in the English-French conflict. With this experience under my belt, I'm willing to declare England a supremely easy nation to play. England would make for a good second campaign for a newb to EUIV. Any fear I've ever had of France is officially gone. The reputation that France has built up in the community isn't relevant anymore, the English-French conflict is well balanced. Both sides have an equally easy path to victory in the player's hands.
