I. I really just don't know how to react to that, I guess. Besides, what the heck? Why...
Hopefully it won't have any meaningful effect on public education.

Something something "no part of this world".

Eh, wasting your breath to point out they're explicitly rejecting Jesus' teaching, I guess.

I can't wait to see how they try to legally work out the Christian/Muslim school funding when charter schooling rolls around.

I thought the same thing... but then my Grandma is a Catholic and isn't fond of the pope so, different strokes for different folks.

Isn't that a bit like being a physicist who doesn't care for that Einstein fellow?
Venicilian: wow. Jesus hung around with everyone. boys, girls, rich, poor(mostly), sick, healthy, etc. in fact, i bet he even went up to gay people and tried to heal them so they would be straight.
The Parkus Empire: Being serious on NSG is like wearing a suit to a nude beach.
New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.

I say the same thing to gay/lesbian/trans Christians, but this thread isn't about my Grandma's or their idiosyncratic theological leanings.

I don't know if Trump qualifies as an atheist though. A Christianic agnostic maybe... perhaps even a deist, but I haven't heard him say he doesn't believe in a God, so the jury is out.

Not at all! Science advances by proving the previous bunch wrong! Einstein's just annoyingly frustrating to disprove.

I agree... one of the major differences between Catholicism and Protestantism is the view they have of the pope, and Catholics follow the pope. That makes the Grandma more of a protestant than a Catholic.

I am a Nestorian and I don't follow the pope, with this being said it is clear that Trump is an enemy to religion in general.

Not really... Catholics disagree with the Pope all the time. There is still a fairly influential, though minor, sect that believes that mass should still be entirely in Latin. But as long as they profess to be Catholics, the Church is generally fine with them disagreeing.

Much like Trump can disagree with Glen Beck, but both are still right-wing... GETTING BACK ON TOPIC, FARN, I PROMISE.

Doesn't bother me. Less people believing stuff on faith, religious or otherwise, would do the American public alot of good.

Religion is good for people especially the Abrahamic ones and it's offshoots like Sikhism and Bahaism

Trump sure as hell isn't an enemy to religion, not even close. If that was the case, all the atheists and anti-theists would flock to him like moths to a flame. However, the opposite effect has resulted, suggesting he actually upholds religious ideas more than that of secualr ideas. Said religion is that of Christianity, mind you.

Disagree =/= not follow. They still have a place for him, unlike Protestantism, that downright disown the pope of any prestige.
And yes, on topic would be nice.

There are hypocrites in every faith, I don't believe Trump is the anti-Christ despite how sick and twisted he is but the Anti-Christ will have a large following from the 'Faithful'.

That still doesn't go against what I said of being against faith, as long as it is a given faith.

I know, but the point was that is hardly that of someone out to destroy religion, when some of his decisions seem actually suck up to the religious.

He offends me with his hatred of what's right and love of what's wrong and his supporters are also offensive in their character.

So what happens now?
Can he overturn by himself or is there a shitstorm a brewing.

Nah, Trump can't do jack legally. He'll huff and he'll puff and he'll tweet, but it's in the court's hands now.

The acting Attorney General will appeal the judge's decision and argue for the legality of the ban. It'll probably have to go all the way to the Supreme Court before the matter is settled.

The past two weeks has made it clear that Trump and his cabinet have no regard for legality.

The first stays filed against the travel ban were quietly ignored by the agencies in question. On multiple instances his cabinet nominees have perjured themselves in their confirmation hearings. The Senate Republican caucus, rather than uphold the law and the integrity of the United States Congress, has blocked any further scrutiny and rammed through their confirmation anyway.

They don't give a fuck about legality. The courts have no independent enforcement arm. If Trump orders the executive branch to ignore contrary rulings, he'll cause a constitutional crisis, and currently the Republicans in Congress will back him one hundred percent.
