one of the reasons we left is so we could get rid of EU laws which the daily mail etc. constantly complained about. you're in denial if you think "we're ok with EU standards and we'll keep all of them but oh we just want to have the final say ok" was a major faction in leave.

we're also likely to surrender some of our standards to get a deal with the US.

how do you look at people that have done nothing but complain about european standards being too strict getting buddy with another group of people that think european standards have been too strict and conclude that european standards are probably perfectly safe. do you actually believe that or did you just want to make a post of questionable relevance/deliberate misinterpretation? yes it's entirely possible the government could keep all the old laws or pass a new series of laws that will give us equal or better protections than what we had under europe, but they won't. since you've chosen that tone i'm tempted to put it down as another example of people preferring the fantasy of what is possible under their own personal brexit or a strict technocratic interpretation of what is and is not possible over the reality of what they're actually going to get under may's red white and blue brexit.

it's not just chlorine, it's all of the dodgy shit americans have that we don't. apparently there's been a few cases of people using it to make chicken look better than it is (in the "makes things you really shouldn't be eating look edible" manner) but it seems like it might not be too bad. either way, as i said, it's more a stand in for the entirety of the US' fun food standards instead of a burning hate for chlorine specifically.
