[PASSED] Commend Renaissancistic People

Postby Kaboomlandia » Fri Jan 20, 2017 2:49 pm

THE SECURITY COUNCIL:

BELIEVING that Renaissancistic People's impact on the nations and regions of NationStates are worthy of great respect and merit a commendation,

IMPRESSED with the tireless work of [nation=short]Renaissancistic People[/nation] in furthering interregional diplomacy:
  • Served as a senior diplomatic advisor to several regions, including as the primary diplomatic advisor to successive Presidents in Europeia for three years;
  • Mentored new diplomats;
  • Served as the main negotiator in many interregional alliances and fostering strong new regional partnerships including regions such as Albion, The South Pacific, The North Pacific and Europeia;
  • One of the leaders in the establishment and spread of the Independent philosophy, and the primary author of the Independent Manifesto.
DOCUMENTING that [nation=short]Renaissancistic People[/nation] also controls the nation [nation=short]HMS Unicorn[/nation], and it is through this nation that Renaissancistic People has had a large impact within The North Pacific:
  • Proposed and passed the greatest number of bills and laws within the Regional Assembly;
  • Created the Ministry of Home Affairs, which has greatly increased forum activity and facilitated both forum and regional integration;
  • Served as delegate of the region for eight months, providing stability and growth through the World Assembly Development Programme, which they created;
  • Broke records for endorsement numbers, and holds the all-time feeder record of endorsement percentage at more than 85%;
  • Provided quality mentoring to a number of nations, allowing them to succeed in positions within the regional government;
  • Enlarged the region's Foreign Ministry and Army; and
  • Implemented a more neutral foreign affairs policy that allowed the region to form diplomatic ties with a wider variety of regions of varying ideologies.
ADMIRING the administrative and technical efforts put forth by [nation=short]Renaissancistic People[/nation] as a trusted administrator in several regions with regards to maintaining regional forums and coordinating critical recruitment, military, security, communications and development infrastructure,

CELEBRATING the legislative accomplishments of [nation=short]Renaissancistic People[/nation] in many regions worldwide:
  • Served as the main legislator of Great Britain and Ireland, whose legal system has served as an example for many other regions;
  • The main author of key legislative documents for The North Pacific, including citizenship reform and Regional Assembly protocols;
  • Large contributions to the legislation of The New Inquisition and ACCEL, with additional contributions to Osiris, The Land of Kings and Emperors, Europeia, and Balder; and
  • One of the pre-eminent legal scholars in NationStates, and has served as the Chief Justice in seven different regions.

DOCUMENTING that [nation=short]Renaissancistic People[/nation] has co-authored General Assembly Resolution #295 & Security Council Resolutions #147 & #151,

RECOGNIZING [nation=short]Renaissancistic People[/nation]’s instrumental contributions in the creation and the continued operation of the regional library of Great Britain and Ireland, which remains publicly available even though activity within the region has dwindled

BELIEVING that any nation that has had the impact that [nation=short]Renaissancistic People[/nation] has had on the world should be officially recognized by the Security Council,

Hereby COMMENDS Renaissancistic People.

Co-authored by [nation=short]Mousebumples[/nation] and [nation=short]Ramaeus[/nation].

Since I inherited the draft last month from Mouse and Ramaeus, I'm going to wait for releases from those two letting me submit this thing. Feel free to comment.

Hi Kaboom,

Nice to read a literate and well thought out proposal for a change. It's like finding an oasis in a desert.

My one concern is the references to forums. You need to make sure that these references cannot be interpreted as electronic forums so as to be R4 compliant.

Other than that it's good to know there are people out there who can produce a sensible proposal.

I have looked and the three references to "forums" in the text appear to be fine.

That was my second-biggest concern during drafting (first was the restructuring I did to make it look better). It's gone through checks and I'm 99.9% sure it's under the limit. BBCode doesn't count so it's tough to check off the top of my head.

I spoke with Mouse and it was clarified that the text was mostly Mouse's, so it should be fine to submit if Ram doesn't post here.

Planning to give this 24 more hours, and then will submit after tomorrow's major if there are no issues at that time.

On my phone and just perusing the forum so don't take this as a ruling yet, but how is that first full paragraph NOT a rule 4 violation? You refer explicitly to NS.

As linked from the Mod Rulings sticky. This states that using "NationStates" in lieu of "the multiverse" (or similar) is legal. Don't get me wrong (but if you do, consider updating the sticky)...

I am not an expert on SC rules like you or any others posted in this thread but isn't 'NationStates' the name given to this multiverse? So how will calling it as such imply that we are referring to it as a game? Calling the universe as 'universe' doesn't imply that we are living in a matrix :p

Aside from the odd use of Nationstates which apparently is legal (not overly keen on breaking the 4th wall like that but so be it), this is a really well written and well though out proposal.

WA Delegate for the Federation of Fictitious States
Alexander Smith - Tinhamptonian Delegate-Ambassador to the World Assembly
Opinion of the Federation's WA Delegate (SC #8)
This comment best experienced on 1366 x 768. Or, for that matter, least worst experienced on 1366 x 768. Yes, I know that my flag is the wrong proportions. T&C's apply. Here's SC #7 for y'all

Tinhampton previously approved this proposal, mainly out of its content and how it presented a convincing argument. In addition, Delegate-Ambassador Smith (in lieu of any resolutions passed by The Other Chamber of the World Assembly, especially the one hundred and twenty-second one) has used his common sense to analyse this resolution. He has determined that Tinhampton - in their status as a World Assembly Delegate with 17 votes as of the time of writing - should vote FOR "Commend Renaissanctistic People". These were the reasons that D-A Smith gave:
Renaissanctistic People, HMS Unicorn, r3nnaissanc3r - whatever you call them, there can be no doubt that they deserve a Commendation. A quick read through the resolution will reveal that r3nnaissanc3r has been involved heavily in the improvement of diplomatic work in Europeia, legislative work in the North Pacific, archiving work in Great Britain and Ireland, and not least their importance in the Independent philosophy's spread. Whilst I have to admit that this is an excellent repetoire, I urge you to read the resolution in its entirety, see their other awe-inspiring achievements, and vote for it.

Tinhampton will vote for this resolution, and also strongly urges other members of the Federation's Assembly of Nations to vote for it. However, this opinion is not binding, and Tinhampton cannot and will not throw you into the flames of the Rejected Realms for failing to vote the same way as them.

The grammar errors and style of this resolution trigger me to no end, but I'll consider supporting it regardless. After all, it is clear the nominee deserves the commendation.

IA gets upset about italics and CAPITALIZATION. I wouldn't say demanding correct grammar is quite on that same level. :p

I've ultimately decided to vote against the resolution. It's going to landslide its way to victory anyway, so I may as well protest its flaws through my vote. Good luck, Kaboom, you chose a great nominee. I hope this passes.
