She's actually from the University of Chicago and not UIC, but maybe. They could team up and go for the echo objective together.

OK, I just posted on the IC. I'm having Cat head downtown to look for some supplies. If anyone wants to run into her, we can work something out.

OBJECTIVE
    • Braveheart
Rumor has it that a broadsword can still be found hanging over the bar at the Duke of Perth, a Scottish pub in northern Chicago, and given the current situation such a weapon may well be a valuable asset. Should you be in the area it would be worth your time to stop and investigate, however, do not think you're the only one with such a prize in mind.
    GOAL:
      Find the sword.
    LOCATION:
      Duke of Perth, Chicago, IL

Please note that these flashbacks aren't PTSD, it's just me trying to develop Luke's past.

On that note, posted, sorry if it's less than spectacular.

Barapam, it won't fail but neither would it go well with the people you're helping. They'd likely withhold the reward.

I ask that anyone currently in the middle of something finish up. No need to rush but I'm moving ahead reasonably soon.

You can do stuff but I'd try not to become so involved in something that you can't justify skipping to the next day. If you can finish what you're doing relatively soon then go ahead.

If we need to change something for the day change that's fine tho.

Name: Joseph Andrew Foley

Nationality: American

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Age/DOB: 31

Pic/Description:
Image

Occupation: Staff Sergeant, USMC; MOS 5811, Military Police

Immunity: None

Equipment:
1x M27 IAR
3 1/2x 30 round magazines of 5.56mm
1x 92FS 9mm handgun
3x clips of 9mm
1x Ka-BAR combat knife
1x folding utility knife
2x canteens
1x package of MRE's
1x Tan IMTV Plate Carrier
1x Flashlight
1x Set of MARPAT Utilities(w/ boots and an eight point cover)
1x Gas Mask

Skills: Excerpt from Psychological Report of SSGT. Joseph A. Foley following the events of [DATA REMOVED BY ADMINISTRATIVE REQUEST]:
... the need to place Staff Sergeant Foley on watch list. No marine should still be in the service much less on active duty with these kinds of scores. We have here a trained marksmen, a practitioner of MCMAP in his sparetime, and a SAW gunner when he wants to fire the big guns in the field. Yet the man's reports show him in a steady rate of decline; with crystal clear indicator's of the Staff Sergeant's affliction.

The sheer negligence my predecessor displayed astounds me as to how he was assigned to Bethesda. However, that is not the case here. The case is the simple fact is thatI hereby officially recommend and encourage that Staff Sergeant Joseph A. Foley be moved from active duty overseas to a stateside posting until further testing for his future in the Marine Corps can be determined.

End Excerpt

Weakness:
Excerpt from personal communiqué between 1st Lt. Wallace C. Flynn to 2nd Lt. Howard J. Lance
....hope it all works out for you in the end, brother.

Oh by the way; one of my former marines is coming over for another voluntary tour in the sandbox. I did you favor by shuffling him into your company; hopefully you can snag him before someone else does. You can thank me later, but I should warn you about Sergeant Foley.

He's an excellent marine and has bailed my sorry *ss out more then a few times. But he tends to chafe when he isn't "let loose" so to speak. He won't call you out and undermine you in front of the platoon; but there will be tension in the unit and he will try to push his way. Don't let him take your position Howard; the Sergeant is many things, but leading marines is not one of them. If you let him command, he'll abandon them eventually to run with a smaller unit; and that will get him and your men killed faster then sh*t.

I know he sounds like a problem child; but if you can control him then you'll have no one better to watch your back.
Excerpt Ends

Personality:
Foley moves at two speeds; his speeds, and his speed. There is no slowing down for the staff sergeant and he makes sure those around him are aware of that. This makes him gravitate towards commanding positions to ensure his fellows can keep up; but at the same time he dislikes the nuances of control and will often leave in favor of his more self-contained lone wolf style of approach. Leaving the staff sergeant a man of few words; but those words are ones that should be considered.

Bio: Born in Southern Ohio; Joseph Andrew Foley was about as nondescript as one could get growing up outside the local gun manufacturing plant. With three brothers, and two sisters living off the salary of two blue collar workers; things were tight within the Foley household. A situation that while not resulting in a violent home (due to the deeply pacifistic teachings of Elizabeth and Samuel Foley), meant that all Foley's worked to support the family. With Foley as the youngest starting at age eight; by cutting firewood to sell to local families.

A practice Foley continued until he reached the age of sixteen and began working in the small Ohio based gun company's manufacturing plant. Foley worked in the packaging area and worked there for two more years; before eventually dropping out of high school at age 19, after only have completing the 11th grade. The death of his slightly older sister, Martha, in a car crash caused Foley to realize that neither Martha or himself had seen the world; only the little town of which they had been born and raised.

So to the protests of his family; Foley worked less and re-enrolled back into high school. Eventually earning his diploma eight months after starting school again. Then with a degree in hand; Foley fled from the world of making guns and ironically into the hands of those who used them. With a promise to see the world, and with his pay being sent back to the homefront; Joseph A. Foley enlisted into the United States Marine Corps.

Foley's early military career was as clean as could be and standard for an MP serving in combat. A tour in Iraq saw a few combat engagements and letters of recommendation; but nothing major. Then after an uneventful tour of duty in 29 Palms, Foley returned to the Middle East; this time to Helmand Province Afghanistan. There the then corporal and his unit participated in a series of operations under the control of an unknown US government agency. The operations ended two months later; with twenty eight marines dead, and the remainder of an MP platoon in critical condition. Save for Foley, who was uninjured by the classified assignments and transferred away for another tour stateside.

Two more tours back to Helmand, resulted in no further drama until the end of the last tour. Details are fuzzy on the exact order of events that left an insurgent compound and a block of apartments burning; but the end result was a SSGT. Foley mowing down everyone, insurgents and civilians, escaping from the blaze. Foley was shifted to Camp Lejeune, and into obscurity there until a more official and covert investigation could be conducted.

Then rumors of biological attacks were heard; and the marines at Leujune were mobilized for a nationwide deployment. The platoon Foley had been shoved into was slated for Chicago along with the rest of the rifle company. However, even the combat ready marines couldn't stem the tide of human, infected or not, that literally tore through their barricades and checkpoints. With the city descending into a free fire zone and with their position overrun; Foley and the remainder of the platoon were evacuated via helicopters. Some of which were piloted by volunteers, like Foley's Blackhawk. Then when it seemed he was in the clear; an infected marine turned onboard the aircraft as if some higher entity needed it to occur for unknown purposes. The end result left Foley and the volunteer pilot, bruised but alive, but still stranded in Chicago with no more chance of escape.
