Quick question, when the contest submission deadline passes, will their be finalists announced and if so will the winners of the contest be announced among the finalists or do the finalists have to do something else? Like submit a 2nd issue

It'll happen how it happens. Nothing is definite yet. We'll likely have any finalists edit an issue with a senior editor over TG, but nothing is set in stone.

Hello everyone. While working on my issue for the contest, I noticed a discrepancy.

In the list of all NS issues (http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=88), the list of variables and the actual issues all use the following macros:

@@RANDOMMALENAME@@ and @@RANDOMFEMALENAME@@: gender-specific randomized names.

However, the "how to write an issue" thread (https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=80) uses a different format in the instructions:

@@RANDOMNAMEMALE@@: generates a random male name
@@RANDOMNAMEFEMALE@@ generates a random female name

Do both of these work, or was there a typo in the "how to write an issue" thread?

I've been using @@RANDOMNAMEMALE@@ etc, whilst doing my issues, and others I've talked to have done so as well. When I used to write issues previously, I always used that format and there was no trouble.

It doesn't matter which you use. It needs to be rewritten by an IE anyway. Most macros need to be rewritten.
