Hi! I just wanted to know if this is strict MT or if you're more open to FanT elements, such as (yes) sentient ponies.

Yeah, I know...

The reason I ask is because this seems more of a character-driven RP, which would mitigate any FanT elements as character peculiarities rather than significant factors in the direction of the RP.

Besides that, I'll wait for the OP's word on this.

As the co-OP, I wouldn't participate if ponies were accepted. It's not my thing. I don't mind anthros, but it would largely depend on the circumstances.

But I just can't get into the pony thing. To each their own, of course.

My apologies. The Özen Qaghanate has preserved a proud tradition of breaking and training the local steppe ponies for untold generations, subjecting them to the abject slavery of rein and saddle. There could never be a pony rebellion here.

In all seriousness, while I'm appreciative of the interest, I cannot in good conscience accept ponies. Not only would it transform my lovely co-OP into a jibbering lunatic who would threaten the life of my beloved, but it would also undermine certain aspects of my IC lore. I'd be more than willing to role-play with you in the future, however, providing it wasn't canonical.

As for everyone else, I haven't died, though the Dreidl Song has pushed me to my absolute limits. That and Santa Baby. Just no. Anyhow, I'm more or less finished processing applications. Most of y'all have been accepted, and I'll make it official as soon as I'm not busy with holiday cheer and have a computer. I'll message some of you to answer questions and to develop IC relationships and ties.

And, to answer the common inquiry, the successor question on the app relates to which candidate your nation is backing in the aftermath of Tazhibai Qaghan's untimely death. This'll mostly be relevant towards the end of Part I, though it's a pretty big deal in Parts II and III. I'll have characters and history stuff up before we begin, so you can decide who your characters/nations will love and who they will hate.

Oh and just a quick question for Ozena, will the Character section just include our applications, or will you be writing descriptions for each character as the story progresses? I think it's obvious which one I'd prefer...

I'll be including my characters and others in that section with detailed descriptions. I'll likely organize them in a sensible way as well. Just as a reminder, you may ask Ixania, my co-OP, for the link to the Discord for the general planning of this trilogy. We won't begin in earnest for another week or so, since I'm celebrating with family and cooking and whatnot. That said, this isn't out of my mind. I'm working on the background and the characters daily.

So, my ancient (that is, been in-use since 2007 or 2008) router at home finally decided it didn't want to bother with those pesky DNS config protocols to distribute IP addresses, so I haven't had wifi for my laptop since Christmas Day (thanks, Obama). So, sorry to vanish on you folks, still without submitting an application. We should be getting our replacement tomorrow, so I'll try to pick up my slack then.

(I'm using 4G on my phone, if anyone is wondering.)

My third character:

Name: Reginald Norbet
Age: 58
Titles: Sir, Major
Position/Occupation: Aide de Camp to Terrance Morrison
Education: Underdegree in Defence Studies
Religion: Vionnan Andyism
Short Description: Looks somehow older than he really is. Wears military uniform in pretty much any situation, if he's at a formal event, he will be wearing a tuxedo or dress uniform. He has a scraggly grey beard and bushy eyebrows, long hair in a ponytail about 8 inches long from the band. Quite muscular for his age, attractive in an odd kind of way.
Short Biography: Born on March 15th, 1959 to Edgar Norbet (Earl Huntingdon) and Lorenza Sabal. Attended multiple schools before settling down at Teutonburg Military Academy, moved on to the University of Teutonburg where he achieved an Underdegree in Defence Studies. Started his military career in 1976 as a captain in the Imperial Army in Exile, he led multiple guerilla raids into Communist territory and upon the restoration of the monarchy in 1980 he was promoted to major and knighted by King Edward III. During Operation Featherweight he led Vionna-Frankenlischian armoured units against Molvanian defences on the outskirts of North Vladamirska. He was in overall command of Imperial Army forces during the Battle of Entrepreneur's Avenue after King Edward was wounded in action. He has commanded the 42 T-72s of the Lesser Aegean Defence Force ever since. When Brigadier General Terrance Morrison arrived in Elprus, along with enough tanks to form a Brigade. Norbet was assigned to be his Aide de Camp due to his experience in command of tanks. He accompanied Morrison when he moved to Ozena to become a military observer.
Personality: Very stubborn and overconfident in his own ability. Very competent commander but not particularly charismatic, likes to spend time with the men under his command, but never really connects with them. Certainly not humble, but he doesn't boast about his noble roots, nor his illustrious battle honours.
Ties to Other Characters: Aide de Camp to Terrance Morrison, knows Hannah Upson but isn't friendly with her. Knows some members of the Ozen army.

Aeneas established Traecor, named after the secret sect of assassins who won the war for them. Over millenia Traecor has flourished, and it is on the cusp of becoming a world power. Traecor was successful in the main because it avoided conflict, however Traecor was extremely well defended, making it a great place to ship goods through, and consequently, the black market flourishes in Traecor, and the government only makes halfhearted attempts to stop it.

There can only be one High ranked of each.
* - Traecor uses a tier system for their tanks... this is not related to anything else.

Full Name of Nation: The Constitutional Monarchy of Raltirian Denethier

Short Name of Nation: Raltirian Denethier; Denethier

Area: (proper and colonies) See Factbook (I'm considering retconning the Byzantine Empire territories mentioned; if these don't conflict with anyone here, don't worry about them either way)

Population:
140,000,000-150,000,000 (Aelian heartland)
236,000,000 total

Population Density: ~400 per sq km (Aelian heartland)

GDP:
Nominal: $10,916,180,000,000 (USD)
Purchasing Power: $9,380,528,000,000 (USD)

GDP/Capita:
Nominal: $46,255 (USD)
Purchasing Power: $39,748 (USD)

Language: Greek; Deno-Aelian

Capital City: Denethier

Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy (I've been toying with the idea of an elective succession)

Economy Type: Free Market-oriented Mixed Economy

Religion: None Official; Aelian Polytheism prominent, with strong Protestant and Orthodox Christian minorities

Military (size of active, reserve, local forces; include descriptions of organization, training, and equipment): See Factbook for details (Note: Equipment lists are not 100% up to date, some of the vehicles mentioned are no longer considered canon; My word is to be considered a higher authority than Factbook)
Active: 3,300,000 (Peacetime)
Reserves: 5,875,000
Local Forces: I'm not sure I understand what this means

Military preparedness is a priority issue in Denethrien government, and as such the armed forces have remained well-funded even after the close of the Cold War (though during this period, Denethier had no reason to stop rebuilding some of its decayed military power, nor did the collapse of the USSR and the Warsaw Pact usher in a more peaceful era on Aels). Denethier maintains conscription laws for all males at age 18, allowing deferments for higher education. Still hoping to reap some benefits from well-motivated, professional volunteers, the military accepts enlistments for greater pay, in exchange for a commitment to a longer term of service. Funding ensures adequate training for all recruits, as well as training for reservists to maintain a basic level of operational readiness should the need arise to activate larger forces, as well as the ability to properly supply and maintain equipment at least for any active front-line units.

Denethier has allocated greater resources since the end of the Cold War to expand its strategic nuclear capabilities. During the Cold War and immediately afterward, strategic concerns remained almost exclusively on the country's national borders, and as such regional threats could be addressed effectively with air-dropped nuclear weapons carried on light and medium-weight strike aircraft, such as an F-111-class aircraft, as well as a selection of theater ballistic missiles. More recently, as Denethier's power and influence have grown and its interests have expanded overseas, there has been a push to develop greater strategic capabilities in the form of intercontinental missiles and refurbishment of heavy strategic bomber aircraft.

In addition to the capability for deployment of strategic weapons, a range of tactical nuclear weapons exist for use with conventional forces in the event of an appropriately large-scale battlefield action.

(Disclaimer: No, no, I'm not mentioning nukes because I want them to be a key part of roleplaying. I'm not looking to use them. I'm simply mentioning them because, realistically, a strategic, big-picture look at any military must include at least a brief mention of nuclear capabilities. That's the modern world for us.

Short History: Denethrien history stems back to the first neolithic peoples settling northern Aels as the Neolithic Revolution spread from Europe and North Africa. Two main peoples started to emerge on the continent. As the bronze age started to spread to Aels around 2,300 BC, peoples began to emerge in the northern regions of the continent from which the Northern Aelians would later develop, having spread to the continent largely from the British Isles and Northern France. In the southern regions of the continent, as well as some central and eastern regions, the precursors to the modern Nutks began to take shape, descended from arrivals from Iberia and North Africa. The first colonists from the Old World began to arrive as the 2nd Millenium BC was coming to a close, as Phoenician settlers bravely began to spread beyond the Pillars of Herakles. In the centuries that followed, Greek traders and adventurers began to follow the sea routes first traveled by the Phoenicians, forming their own settlements around the coast of Barnopea between 1,000 and 800 BC, even spreading further west onto the mainland coast of the Wentviska Sea.

Between 800 and 650 BC, Greek populations began to spread, very gradually, along land trade routes running east and northeast from their original settlements on the coast of the Wentviska, eventually reaching one of the more powerful pockets of Northern Aelian civilization nestled in the Denethrien Valley. Over time, through conflict and assimilation, the incoming Greek peoples came to dominate a large portion of the nearby territory, forming a society made up largely of a Denethrien lower class with a Greek aristocracy, much like Norman England after 1066. This new Denethrien civilization began to exist not simply as one society ruled by another, but rather as a progressively more and more integrated society where local culture had absorbed a large portion of Greek influences. In the following centuries, further immigration, this time of Celts, particularly by way of coastal settlement of nearby shores, further altered the fabric of Denethrien culture.

By the close of Antiquity, Denethrien civilization encompassed a large array of city-states and petty kingdoms, though increasing colonization by Europeans in various regions of the continent served to push Northern Aelians out of more and more territories. This was particularly true of Germanic and Viking settlement during the 1st Millenium AD, where many of the Northern Aelian societies on the northern half of the continent were conquered or vanished altogether. During this period, larger and more powerful kingdoms came to develop closer to the center of Northern Aelian civilization, in the Denethrien Valley, where a single empire eventually emerged by the end of the 6th Century AD. This empire stood for centuries as the dominant power in the local area, and formed the basis for the modern state of Raltirian Denethier. Despite a series of periods during which the empire saw considerable decay, particularly in the 15th and 17th Centuries, Denethier survived multiple wars along its frontiers. The empire continued to decay even into the 19th Century, despite multiple attempts to reclaim lost power and land.

The 20th Century finally began to pave the way for a period of recovery for Denethier, as a new government was formed according to a new constitution written in the latter half of the 1830s and defended in a series of internal wars fought between 1840 and 1860. Though a somewhat hollow power throughout much of the Long 19th Century, Denethier managed to maintain power significant enough to allow it to play a crucial role in the local conflicts of the early 20th Century, even growing in strength to challenge National Socialist Nova Prussia during the Second World War and participate as the main belligerent against the expansion of fascism on Aels. Continued growth continued through the Cold War, despite a number of bloody conflicts to curb the growth of Bolshevism. During this period, Denethier fought several wars against communist Freiesland and managed to develop nuclear capability. Denethier was given a chance to prove its military might against the greatest of the continent's powers during the Puropanian Civil War in the 1990s. While its forces struggled against stronger adversaries, particularly against the United Provinces of Connorianople, and while its forces demonstrated numerous shortcomings and areas where further improvement was needed, Denethier demonstrated the ability to project military power to the far sides of the continent in sufficient force to wage a large-scale campaign against a peer enemy.

Since then, Denethier has further cemented its position in Aelian affairs through the formation of the Northern Aels Defense Pact, by which means it began to form a close relationship with its neighbor, Serdaristan, and demonstrated a will and capability to stand against the other major Aelian coalition of its day, the Pan-Aels National Defense Alliance, or PANDA, spearheaded by communist Namijistan, Anicka, and Nova Prussia. As PANDA has since decayed to a state of dubious relevance to regional affairs, Denethier most recently turned its sights north to its neighbor, Cynicadonia, in hopes of reclaiming coastal territory lost during the 19th Century. Cynicadonia, while neutral in modern times, has historically maintained tense relations with Denethier, and so was not viewed as being an invalid target to Denethrien planners. The invasion of Cynicadonia, was launched in 2011, and reclaimed much land in the south of the country in only a few days, but ground to a halt as Connorianople intervened in the conflict, deploying an expeditionary force to prop up Cynicadonia's faltering defense forces. The conflict continues in a stalemate, enforced by a ceasefire agreed to by both parties.

Notable People: Supreme Counselor David A Ellis

Connections with Ozena: None Officially

Reasons for Involvement: Denethier has begun pursuing a policy (arguably an imperialistic one) of working to form international connections overseas as a means of building a network of loose alliances and partnerships that might prove useful in undermining the global power commanded by the United Provinces of Connorianople; Of particular interest are developing and emerging powers which might allow for the formation of economic connections

Short History: Traecor began as the city-state of Troy, located IRL modern Turkey. In early history, Troy was reportedly under seige and eventually annihilated by Ancient Greece. Aeneas then went to found Rome. But instead, Troy won the war, and Aeneas was named successor of the King of Troy.
Notable People: Supremis - High Murder | Oland Zakar - Prime Minister | Enjorren Avrelliis LII (yes, he is the fifty-second Enjorren Avrelliis) - High King of Traecor

Military Ranks are as follows (small - big): [0] Cadet | [1] Recruit | [2] Sergeant | [3] Captain | [4] Commander | [5] Corporal | [6] Colonel | [7] Bladesmiter | [8] Praetor (of Legion) | [9] Thunder | [10] Murder (highest rank, leader of a Massacre). Please note that once you reach Praetor, this is a "High" version of the title, implying that they are higher ranked than all others of that rank but below the next rank. There can only be one High ranked of each.
* - Traecor uses a tier system for their tanks... this is not related to anything else.

Finished.

Um, if your population is 243 million, and you have 9.7 million in your military, then that means that your government spending must be massively militaristic. Such a military with a GDP below 1 trillion and per capita below 20,000 would constitute a LOT of debt.

Aside from that, I like it.

The military is 4% of the population and I wasn't sure what to do with GDP so I used thirdgeek's NSEconomy. But the GDP is over 2 trillion. GDP per capita will be edited to $62,342.12.
Thanks :)

NB: Traecor always writes the "u" as a "v" and to simplify their culture, it is basically a medieval nation in modern times.

4% of your pop. is astronomically high, though I'll just assume you'll figure something out for that. Hope to see you in Özena soon!

Mind you, military is not what this is about. I would recommend doing some brushing-up on diplomacy before we start (say that because you're whole app was basically your military. Apologizes upfront if I'm wrong about that)

I understand this isn't really about military, and also I certainly do not consider 4% high. I consider it... eh, medium. And diplomacy is never any of my nations' strong point because I am simply not that diplomatic myself. I will (hopefully!) be seeing you soon in Ozena.
